Woods to Meadows Photography

We had Kayla photograph our wedding last year. Overall, I feel that her pricing was fair and I was happy with how our pictures turned out. I also liked having the pictures available on the online format. I really put my trust into Kayla. Besides providing a list of shots. locations, and a few suggestions, I did not have many strong opinions about what our photographs should look like. There were even a couple of "detail shots" I didn't really care to have done. I am not sure if this was miscommunicated but Kayla appeared really displeased throughout the majority of our photography session. For example, she seemed very anxious to get started with family portraits following the ceremony and crossed her arms pouting during the short reception line we had. This made me feel really antsy at a time when I was trying to briefly enjoy friends and family. She raised her voice at us during family pictures due to some confusion with the name list (she was reading her example names instead of the picture list I submitted) and during bridal party pictures she was very short with our friends. Specifically, she seemed upset with us about "monitoring how we looked" in the picture. I guess I expected some guidance from our photographer, as our group are not professional models. This contributed to a tense and not very fun mood for the rest of our pictures. Overall, her presence contributed to my stress during an already stressful day and I began to lose trust in her. Based on her reviews and description, I was expecting someone easy going and flexible who would support us during our day. Instead, I almost felt like I had to monitor her emotions and avoid her irritation. I understand that weddings are a stressful environment, however, my main desire was to partner with her to keep the mood as chill as possible. That did not happen. Overall, pictures looked nice. There were a handful of shots that would have been perfect with just a little more direction from Kayla (e.g., directing us to move hair, move closer, change posture, etc..). We can't really tell what we look like on the other end of the camera so direction from her would have been great instead of putting all of that responsibility on our wedding party! I didn't think to write this review until attending a wedding this last weekend with a very supportive, encouraging, and easygoing photographer. This showed me that the expectations I had, could have been met with a different partnership.

We honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about Kayla (and Taylor!). She did both our engagement photos and our wedding photos, and was such a fun, easygoing person to work with. My husband and I were both nervous doing couples photos because we were worried about it potentially being awkward, but Kayla was professional and fun and immediately put us both at ease. Our photos are something I will treasure for the rest of my life. They came out so beautiful, and Kayla artfully captured every one of my favorite moments from the day. Our timeline for the wedding day ended up being pretty messed up (sigh, wedding crazyness) but both ladies made sure we didn’t miss a beat and got all the photos we could have wanted. We have gotten compliment after compliment regarding the beauty of the images captured and our fun photographers! We will definitely be using Golden Lens again and again through the years, and very much look forward to working with them again!

(Hired woods to meadows, name changed to Golden lens photography) Kayla is amazing. Absolutely love her, she did everything we asked and more! We have worked with her a couple of times before and she never disappoints. Pictures are unbelievable, can’t wait to work more with her in the future.
