I can’t possibly describe how amazing everyone was for my wedding at the WAM. They had great communication, went above and beyond with accommodations, and were extremely friendly and organized. The venue itself is beautiful, and we got tons of compliments on our choice. They were awesome with setting up our decor based on what we wanted, and were great at making sure I got everything I wanted in the ceremony and reception. Definitely take advantage of using the museum for engagement photos! Everything came out perfect and stunning. Jen and Julie are truly the best!!
The Worcester Art Museum was a magical venue. Our experience with Jen and Jacki was wonderful, and from rehearsal to ceremony/reception everything was handled so professionally and well that we didn’t have to do a thing. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how amazing our wedding was, and that it was the best wedding they’ve been to. We held the ceremony in the Chapter House, which we had loved since we first came upon it, and the reception in the Renaissance Court. Our caterer was Carved & Crafted, and I highly recommend her; everything was delish. WAM is such a unique space for a wedding, and for us it was a dream come true.
The Worcester Art Museum was the perfect spot for our Worcester wedding ceremony and we would recommend anybody to consider it if you’re getting married in the area. The Renaissance Court is a striking room; the pictures do it justice but it’s even better in person. The room, the chapel off of the room, and the areas in and around the museum provide for a beautiful array of wedding photos. The on-site event coordinator, Jacki, was incredibly helpful to work with and really worked with us to get the perfect layout and procession setup for our ceremony. She was always accessible and accommodating as we sketched out idea after idea for the event.
Our wedding guest count was close to 160, which is probably the maximum limit I’d recommend for the space. The room technically seats 120, but we had guests line the top arches as a unique vantage point and it worked out perfectly. If that’s not an option for you, then you should consider the space limits. We were also wondering how the mosaic in the middle of the room would impact guests’ vantage points for the ceremony, since you cannot step on it - this ended up being a non-factor: everybody had perfect visibility throughout the event. The other recommendation is to have live music in this room if possible; the acoustics played out perfectly with our string quartet.
Some other details: there is ample parking in the lots next to the building and across the street, we would recommend signage directing guests to the right door for entry. The museum staff were welcoming and attentive to our guests’ needs during the ceremony
We are so glad to have had our wedding celebration at the Worcester Art Museum. It truly created a unique experience by having the galleries open to our guests throughout the night. Jacki, the event manager worked with us over the course of two years to create the perfect night. She was there for any hiccups and ensured all the timeline events transitioned smoothly to one another.
Worst experience ever. The facility is in poor condition, with crumbling entry steps and unattractive interiors. The event staff is unwelcoming and unhelpful.
The Worcester Art Museum was the dream venue I never knew existed. Once my fiance and I walked through the front doors for the first time, we were absolutely floored by the sheer beauty of the venue. We were looking for a setting that spoke to us as an artistic and musically-inclined couple, and the museum was everything we wanted and more!
From the beautiful tile mosaic in the Courtyard, to the dramatic marble pillars and arches of the balcony, every aspect of this gorgeous venue will wow you and your guests. On top of that, Jacki and the rest of the amazing WAM staff are the best team to have during the planning process and on your wedding day. Everybody we encountered, from the greeters during our planning visits, to the security guards who were working during our wedding, to the wonderful Jacki herself - everyone was absolute delight to work with for our New Years Eve wedding. The holiday presented some unique logistical challenges that Jacki and her team took in stride, making our wedding even more spectacular that we could ever have even imagined.
Our guests still rave about the beauty of the venue and all the artwork in the galleries. My husband and I still reminisce about how gorgeous the museum looked and how incredibly lucky we were to host our wedding there. I wish I could celebrate my anniversary there every year, just to experience the beauty of the museum again with my friends and family.
If you are searching for a stunning venue that's not just another hotel ballroom, with an incredible staff that will ensure that you and your guests have an amazing time, the Worcester Art Museum is it! It will honestly be the best wedding planning decision you make.
My husband and I got married at the Worcester Art Museum about two weeks ago, and it was magical- we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate! We got married on the grand staircase in Renaissance Hall, and then held our reception there as well; and it felt like we had been transported back to a stunning Roman palace! Our guests were floored by the beauty of the museum- elegant, unique, and amazing were just some of the words that they used to describe it here. The art within Renaissance Hall was gorgeous, and so, aside from flowers and candles, we did not have to do much at all in terms of decor. All of the galleries on the bottom floor were open to guests, as was the cozy and romantic-looking Chapter House; and everyone told us that really enjoyed being able to explore these spaces.
In addition to the lovely setting, WAM also provided us with a wonderful wedding coordinator, Jackie Libby. She bent over backwards to make sure that everything went smoothly and that our day was perfect. My husband and I wanted a more cocktail style reception with food stations and no assigned seating, as opposed to a more traditional sit-down style meal. Jackie’s experience with executing this type of event, as well as her calm demeanor, her professionalism, and her attention to detail made us feel very at ease and confident that our wedding would turn out exactly how we had envisioned it would. If you’re looking for a venue that will leave your guests (and you) in awe and a wedding coordinator that will go above and beyond to make your dream wedding a reality, then look no further than the Worcester Art Museum!
We thought we had already selected a venue, but when we walked into the Worcester Art Museum, we were blown away! Architects by profession, we were looking for a place that was visually interesting and not just another hotel ballroom. The museum fit the bill in every way. Jacki, the museum’s wedding coordinator was phenomenal. She was kind, quick to respond, and patiently answered all of our questions. She also asked a few (ok alot!) of questions of her own that we never would have thought of, little details that enhanced the event. Day of, all of the staff was wonderful and kind, catering to our needs. Jacki kept things running smoothly and pretty much everything ran on time. We had our ceremony on site in the chapter house followed by a reception in the Renaissance Court. They day was pure magic thanks to this amazing crew. If you are dreaming of a unique venue that is easy to work with, look no further. The Worcester Art Museum is the place for you!
This is the best wedding venue! It is such a unique spot that your guests will be so impressed and it is so pretty to get married with a balcony! Janice and her staff are great they handle all the details so you don't have to. The day was so effortless for us and it was also very reasonably priced compared to other venues. I would highly recommend the WAM if you are looking to get married in the Worcester/Central MA area!
My husband and I tied the knot at Worcester Art Museum in October of 2018. It was the first venue we visited when planning our wedding...and we never visited any others because we couldn't picture our special day being anywhere else. The day went off without a hitch from our ceremony to the reception. It's really awesome to have the whole museum just for yourself and your guests. The venue is one of a kind and our guests sincerely enjoyed being able to explore the museum throughout the event.
I would be remiss not to mention Jackie and the team at WAM. The planning process was made simple with a list of preferred vendors, who were all familiar with the unique space. All of my questions and emails were answered within hours. On the day of the wedding, Jackie and her team made sure everything ran smoothly. As I have come to say, "every bride deserves a to have Jackie on her wedding day."
If you want to feel like a princess and walk away with some of the most exceptionally beautiful wedding photos, go talk to the good folks at WAM. It was an amazing day.
WHERE YOUR FAIRYTALE WEDDING COMES TRUE! Me and my husband are both artists so the museum felt like a perfect choice. My husband is also from Sicily and their Renaissance Court Room feels very european. We bought the second floor galleries for our guests and everyone loved it! Everyone told me how amazing that experience was. I had no idea what the process was going to be like going into this. It was so easy with the help of Jacquelyn Libby, the Worcester Art Museums wedding consultant. She basically became our wedding planner. She took contact information of multiple vendors and I didn't have to be a third party in most conversations. She suggested meetings between herself and my photographer who was from New York so he could understand the Museum location/layout. She suggested two meetings a month before the wedding. One like three weeks before and one a week before. She was very flexible since we live in Stamford, CT (I grew up in Worcester, MA and my whole family is there). These meetings helped us answer all questions we needed answered and confirm payments or contracts. This meeting took so much anxiety off of me! Jacki is really what made the entire experience. She constantly went above and beyond. When my maid of honor was flying in from California and couldn't make the rehearsal she offered to do a quick mini rehearsal with her the day of the wedding during museum hours. I was so thankful! I walked down the stairs for a grand entrance and a lot of people might be nervous about that. I have to say its really not as scary as you think. We had dinner on the balcony and it was stunning. Everyone kept saying how classy it was. I also want to mention that we chose Scott Toupain as our caterer. HE WAS AMAZING! People kept telling us how good the food was (even texting me days after). His staff was so professional and everything was on time and perfect. You might be tempted to choose a more expensive caterer on the Worcester Art Museum's list, I am telling you their is no need. His food and service was superb. I also want to mention that I spoke to every caterer on that list they gave me and the most expensive "Peppers Fine Catering" was incredibly rude to me. Money doesn't always equal class. I wouldn't give that company a dime after how they made me feel. They were MORE THAN double the price of Scott Toupain. Scott must be doing well because when I told Jacki I had chosen him as my caterer she said "Oh he is here this weekend, and he was here last weekend too." My cake came from Bean Counter Bakery and was really great! It was just as delicious as the day I sampled it. We also had a dessert table from a company in Boston called Finesse Pastries, they were so great! The owner Chelsey Erickson helped me order to-go boxes for everyone to put pieces of wedding cake and pastries in for when they left. It was wonderful! Everyone walked out the door with 2-3 boxes! The best kind of favors are the kind people take. The big take away of this review is that you will be in good hands with their wedding consultant Jacki Libby. She helped us navigate everything. We were never confused or in the dark. My bit of advice is on the big day, let Jacki and her staff lead you and just enjoy yourself. It really does go by fast! I am so thrilled we chose WAM I cant imagine it anywhere else. It was always supposed to be there. I felt like Cinderella coming down those stairs. Everyone at the Museum worked so hard for our day they will for yours too.
This is one of the most unique venues that we found when trying to find a location for our wedding. Everyone couldn't stop talking about it weeks after the wedding! Not only were the spaces we used beautiful but the staff was extremely helpful throughout the planning process and day of the event. Jacki was our coordinator and she was so considerate and thoughtful the day of the wedding. Neither of us had to take care of anything day of. We were worry-fress! Additionally, Jacki was great at making sure we were on schedule which was something I worried about!
I really cannot recommend the Worcester Art Museum enough. Having our wedding here was the best decision we could have made. Kristen and Jacki were amazing to work with and our guests were mesmerized by the beauty of the museum. It really requires very little, on your part, in terms of decoration, which was great for our budget and allowed us to spend more money on other aspects of the wedding. The museum has a great list of vendors they recommend. It was great to be working with so many different vendors that had all worked at the location before. Everything was smooth and easy on the day.
If you're looking for a unique, beautiful, and functional venue, WAM is definitely worth considering. Your guests will always remember your day and the WAM staff will do everything in their power to make things run smoothly for you.
I had always dreamed of a rustic barn wedding, but when it came to actually planning our wedding, we realized that a wedding like that wasn't in the budget or what I really wanted. Which is when the Worcester Art Museum came up in my searches for local venues. This is the ONE and only venue we toured because we knew it was the only place for our wedding. We knew it would be stunning, but we had no idea how much of a fairytale wedding it would end up being. Janice Potter and her staff are superb - seriously Marisa is AMAZING. She was always there exactly when I needed her, she even took over bustling my dress when my bridesmaid was having trouble. Both my now husband and I loved her and all the work she did during our wedding (she even made sure all of our gifts and everything we brought stayed safe and got in our car at the end of the night). You are in good hands with her. Our ceremony was in the Chapter House - it was like getting married in a castle! And our reception was in the Renaissance Court. You save on decorations since you're surrounded by art work. It was a magical evening we will never forget. Our guests couldn't stop talking about it either and said it was one of the best weddings they've gone to and how they loved being able to tour the galleries. Having professional photos of your wedding day are great... but having them with priceless works of art and history? Priceless. You will not regret having your wedding at the Worcester Art Museum. Plus you can go back on your anniversary to the place you joined your lives together... which meant something to us.
A wonderful venue for our wedding!
We had an absolutely beautiful experience at the WAM. Kristen was so warm and helpful --the planning felt easy and relaxed. Everybody loved the venue and saying our vows in the chapel room really made it perfect for me. I can't praise them adequately--get married here, it's the best.
My wife and I looked at a lot of venues, but when we saw the WAM, we instantly fell in love with it. It's just so beautiful, elegant, and unique that it would be hard to find a better venue. We were not disappointed; it was everything that we imagined it would be and more. All of our guests remarked on how special it was, and I think it made their experience feel singular and exciting, as opposed to just another standard wedding.
There were a few minor downsides, which were mostly a function of the fact that hosting events is not the primary use of the space (e.g. no red wine allowed, limited event time, and expense). However, those are relatively minor and were far outweighed by the benefits. The overall rental cost, for instance, seems high but in reality is not much more than other options. There are also some pretty good perks, which are available at no extra cost: quality catering options, guest access to art galleries, free access to AV equipment, and grand piano. Moreover, the event coordinators are really great to work with and very accommodating. For those couples considering the WAM, I would recommend paying to extend the reception by an hour if the option is available.
Overall, we were absolutely delighted with our choice and can't imagine our wedding any other way. My wife and I highly recommend WAM.
Beautiful and unique. The Worcester Art Museum was like having a castle wedding. We had our ceremony in the Chapter House, with its magnificent vaulted ceilings, followed by the reception in the Renaissance Court. We used the second level to serve dinner. Janice and her team were wonderful to work with. Professional and so helpful. Janice even was helped me work in a fun secret for my husband at the reception. I picked from their preferred vendor list and was not disappointed. Can't say enough about the WAM. Beautiful!
The venue was absolutely amazing! I worked with Kristen, Jackie and Larissa and they were simply amazing! All the details were handled wonderfully. The security staff was excellent! Our wedding went so smoothly!
The only thing I would keep in mind if you're thinking about holding your wedding here is that it is a museum so some things will be restricted. Such as, flash photography and you can only work with certain caterers. Even with this restrictions the venue is just breath taking you won't be disappointed and it's not that expensive to hold a wedding here. My husband and I paid $2,500 for 4 hours (7pm-11pm) for the Chapter house, museum cafe and you have access to the courtyard as well. They also charge a ceremony fee of $500. You really don't have to do that much decorating as the museum is picture perfect already. I would highly suggest having your wedding at the Worcester Art Museum!
My husband and I had a very smooth and easy time working with Janice and the rest of the Worcester Art Museum staff. Everyone was very kind and responsive. We planned our wedding from California, and we absolutely wouldn't have been able to plan our wedding (site unseen!) without Janice's excellent communication and support.
We had our wedding at WAM this past weekend and the whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. Janice helped me through the planning process the entire time and answered all of my little questions. Kristen and the rest of the staff the day of were amazing, and so on top of everything. Not to mention, the venue itself is unique and absolutely beautiful. Thank you to every one at WAM for their part in an amazing day!
We had our July wedding ceremony and reception in the Renaissance Court at the Worcester Art Museum and I can't say enough great things about this amazing venue. WAM is unique, romantic, beautiful, and everything we could have hoped for on our wedding day. Janice and Kristen were great to work with and made the whole process incredibly easy and fun. The wedding day went smoothly and perfectly thanks to all the hard work of everyone at the museum. My only regret is that it went by so fast! There were so many unbelievable photo spots that we couldn't get to them all!
The Worcester Art Museum makes for a really unique and beautiful venue. We were married in the Chapter House, which was the perfect & intimate setting for our private family ceremony. Our much larger reception was held in the Renaissance Court and it was breathtaking! Janice was an absolute pleasure to work with. She answered all of my questions and gave us guidance as well, which we really appreciated as we planned our wedding from the other side of the country.
On the actual wedding day, Janice & her team made sure the night went off without a hitch. They were very organized and coordinated everything wonderfully. I had a very specific vision for the space, and even with all of WAM's rules (which are very necessary to protect their precious contents!), Janice worked with me so that my vision was able to come to life. Everything was perfect- it was the wedding of my dreams! And our guests are still raving about how beautiful it was.
If you are looking for a unique & elegant venue with professional staff, this is a must-see.
We chose the Worcester Art Museum for our wedding reception. The Renaissance Court is majestic and stunning. The level of professionalism from Janice, her team and the security personal was excellent. Even though the weather did not cooperate with us having the cocktail hour in the museum's courtyard, the staff were able to quickly accommodate and move the party inside the cafe without skipping a beat. The museum setting allowed us to have memorable and gorgeous wedding photographs.
I had my wedding at WAM in January and everything was perfect! The staff were so helpful and friendly and really worked with us to make our wedding day exactly what we wanted :) All the spaces available are gorgeous and you have the extra bonus of having some of the galleries open during your reception. Guests really enjoyed being able to walk around them. WAM is a beautiful and unique wedding venue and I highly recommend it! Plus, your wedding pictures there will be amazing!!
More than one person described my wedding at the Worcester Art Museum as "A Fairy Tale Wedding." We had our ceremony and reception in the renaissance court, surrounded by mosaics, statues, and beautiful works of art. We opened the European Galleries for our guests to wander. People ate and mingled in a reconstructed medieval French abbey. We danced beneath vaulted ceilings. The atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect. The staff was helpful and responsive. They worked seamlessly with the caterers to make sure transitions happened smoothly. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to have my wedding. Janice and her team were professional and timely with responses and planning, and the event was run smoothly. My family and friends are still talking about it!
The Worcester Art Museum (WAM) with its Chapter House (a Gothic Abbey), and the Renaissance Court (dominated by a beautiful ancient Roman mosaic) was an esquisite and romantic setting for our wedding ceremony and reception. We wanted a wedding that would be simple but elegant and classy --- and we got it !
One of the advantages for us was that WAM offered a list of selected vendors for catering, florals, officiants, etc. which made our search for such services much simpler.
Another wonderful experience in our planning was working with Janice and Kathleen. They were always available to answer all of our questions and extremely helpful anytime we asked for advice. Janice was essential in orchestrating the entire evening. It was PERFECT !
Our guests continue to comment on what an exceptional and unique evening they had with us. The setting, ceremony, food, and music made for a memorable event.
We wouldn't change anything !
Our wedding reception felt like a fairy tale. Janice's attention to detail ensured all aspects of the event were planned. She addressed any and every question or concern with a friendly and fast demeanor. Larissa orchestrated our evening flawlessly. She stayed nearby but not too close all night. Larissa even made sure we cut our cake at the ultimate Pi time, 3.14.15 @ 9:26pm.
We recommend the Worcester Art Museum without hesitation! The staff offers superior service from your venue tour to your final payment. The Renaissance Court is a beautiful canvas ready for your personal, picture-perfect party!
It was amazing and incredible to have wedding at Worcester Art Museum. We had ceremony, dinner and party there. The chapter house is good for pictures. They offer piano too, great to have. The museum itself is pretty. And with the help of Janice and other staff, the wedding went on smoothly and wonderful. This venue was recommended by my friend who searched around for about half an year and this is the best. You are gonna like there.
I loved this venue! It provided the perfect setting for the small & intimate function I had planned. The cost of the venue was reasonable and I was happy that the caterer I wanted to use was one of the few they allow there. I only had 2 complaints, which were minor: (1) you are not able to get into the museum to begin set up/decorating until the museum closes to the publc; my florist felt very rushed. (2) the acoustics are not that great and we (me and/or the trio ~ flute, classical guitarist & viollinist) were not advised to bring the appropriate microphones. The best man did his toast from the staircase w/o a microphone and it was very difficult to hear him. Wish we had known!!! Otherwise, everything else went off without a hitch. The wedding planner was great to deal with and overall, we were pleased with everything. I would certainly choose this venue again! FYI, with regards to the total cost of service, I checked $5001-$10,000 because that includes the cost of the venue + food + bar + other incidental charges.
