Word of Mouth Catering

My wife and I got married in Ithaca in July 2022, and Word of Mouth came recommend to us by our wedding venue. Since we did a lot of our planning during the height of the Pandemic, we decided to ask Word of Mouth sight-unseen if they could cater our wedding reception and cocktail hour. This ended up being one of the best decision we could have made! Emily was incredible warm and receptive to any and all communication and requests. She was extremely professional and kept us at ease throughout the entire process. She even invited us to a private tasting a few months before our wedding for no charge, which was truly a wonderful experience. On the day of our wedding, she ensured everything was perfect, and the food was outstanding. All of our guests were raving about it, and we feel so fortunate to have been able to work with them. If you are considering Word of Mouth for your wedding or private event, we can’t recommend them enough!

We “splurged” on Word of Mouth because we had heard SUCH wonderful things from so many people. Let me say we are so glad we chose them! This is not your “typical” wedding food. This is high-grade, freshly made food full of flavor. They made the entire menu gluten free, and most items dairy-free and you would never even know it. Food presentation is beautiful. They worked with us on a menu that would fit within our budget. Tina and Katie pay their employees fairly, and treat them well. They are professional yet warm and approachable. We loved knowing that we were supporting a small, local business! HIGHLY recommend!

We loved working with Katie and Tina for our wedding at the Fontainebleu. They were so helpful in planning our menu, responsive to our emails, and most importantly, the food was delicious! Everything went so smoothly on the day of the wedding, and the food and the buffet looked beautiful. We got lots of compliments on how good the food was! Also, when our wedding date needed to change, Katie and Tina were more than accommodating. We would love to work with them again in the future.

Tina and Katie were so wonderful to work with during the entire wedding planning process. They were responsive, creative, and organized. We could not have asked for a better catering team. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Their use of seasonal ingredients, stunning food presentation style, and creative menu items make them really stand out from other caterers in the area. They are amazing!!

Katie and Tina at Word of Mouth Catering came highly recommended to us by our venue. We are so thrilled that we chose to work with them. Don't be alarmed that they don't have a website; Katie and Tina run this great business in their own unique way! Throughout the entire process they were friendly, thoughtful, available and helpful by phone and email. They emailed us many sample menus and were open and excited about all of my ideas! I loved how enthusiastic they were about creating unusual dishes from different ethnic cuisines. Together we crafted a menu that included everything I hoped for: dinner with some Mexican flavors (e.g., chimichurri sauce, mango salsa, guacamole, etc.). The presentation of their appetizers and buffet table were fantastic. This is not your run-of-the-mill wedding food. In addition to delicious steak and salmon grilled on-site, our buffet included platters of gorgeous grilled vegetables and fresh tomatoes with basil drizzle. We were so excited that we could create such a delicious veggie-centric meal for our guests. They were also very accommodating when I asked additionally for local berries to be served with dessert. They are willing to serve cake from outside vendors and also set up the most beautiful dessert table for me of our family's homemade cookies and local ice cream in tubs. It was just as I envisioned! On the day of, I didn't have to worry about a single thing. Their set-up timing was perfect and they ran cocktail hour, dinner and dessert smoothly. Thank you so much, Katie and Tina! All of the food was really, really good (we got compliments on it from many of our guests—including one who is a chef!), and Katie and Tina were delightful to work with. They were very helpful with menu suggestions, and we enjoyed tasting some of the menu items a few months beforehand. They also had no problem accommodating a few dietary restrictions, as well as serving some desserts which we wanted to bring ourselves. As is often the case, we only had a few bites during our actual dinner, but it was great to find a couple of very large portions saved for us after the guests had left. We highly recommend Word of Mouth!

Tina and Katie were an integral part of our absolutely perfect wedding in 2017. From the first time we met them, we knew we were in good hands. Their food is wonderfully delicious, plated in the most beautiful dishes and layouts, and our guests have commented to us for months how good the food was. They were able to customize our menu to accommodate all of our guests' needs and were incredibly helpful in the whole process. Would most definitely recommend for a wedding or other special event.

Wow—Katie and Tina are amazing. We hired Word of Mouth for our wedding in June 2017 and we (& all of our guests!) were absolutely floored by how wonderful all of Word of Mouth’s food was. Katie and Tina delivered us everything we wished for – local and organic ingredients; farm-to-table feel; fresh (it was grilled on-site!); homemade (there was so much attention to detail); and food that you wouldn’t find at any “typical wedding” (lemon dill hummus, grilled salmon with mango chutney, grilled shrimp on a cucumber, the list goes on & on!). We were especially impressed at how well Word of Mouth handled our many dietary restrictions (lots of food allergies & low salt diets). They were so understanding and provided us a detailed menu with ingredients, which was so helpful. And the service was just impeccable. We decided to do a seated dinner and the wait staff flawlessly served our 90 guests dinner as well as cake (which, we did “community style”). We were so touched when we learned that the wait staff had saved us appetizers as well as cake. I would highly recommend Word of Mouth catering for any event. Their price was extremely reasonable, the food was spectacular, and the attention to detail was amazing!

Katie & Tina were AMAZING. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful they were to work with. We were planning the wedding from across the country and they were so willing to email or find a time to meet us when we were in town. They accommodated dietary restrictions for our guests and played off of our favorite foods to really make the offering unique. They are reasonably priced as well.

Tina and Katie are the BEST!! From the moment we met for our initial consultation we knew they were the perfect fit for our wedding. They were so accommodating with my mothers celiacs and helped create a menu that was 90% gluten free but delicious and unnoticeable to the guests. The hor's de voures were displayed beautifully and so plentiful. The salads were as equally lovely and seasonal with farm fresh items. The dinner itself was the piece de resistance, our guests were blown away. It seemed every one of our guests went for seconds if not thirds. Many guests asked where they could go dine on another night to enjoy the staff and food again. Sadly, there is no restaurant only an adorable kitchen in an unassuming town filled with the most amazing smells and love. Katie and Tina were incrediblely helpful choosing our menu, picking out linens, helping us to stay as close to budget as possible and all the while making us feel like we had known them our entire lives. The staff that works along with them are as equally sweet and accommodating and worked so flawlessly you didn't even realize they were there. Word of Mouth Catering is the type of wedding vendor dreams are made of. There is not one thing I would have asked to have done differently. They allowed us to breathe easy and know that we were in the best possible hands to simply, beautifully and elegantly wow our guests. Food always seems to be a main topic at and after weddings and all we have heard since our big day is that everyone wishes we could go back to that night and eat and dance again. If you are looking for an absolute dream of a caterer, stop now and give Katie and Tina a call, you will be so thankful you did!

Tina and Katie are FABULOUS! I checked out a couple of reviews prior to hiring them and read that it was a bit difficult to get a hold of them. This was slightly true but completely understandable. It's a really small business run on a very personable level. Tina and Katie personally reply to every single e-mail and answer every phone call themselves. They were willing to come into the shop and sit down with us to discuss any issue, matter, or problem that came up during the planning process. They were willing to work with any changes that we had, but would voice any concerns with their capabilities that they had (for instance, we had to limit our wedding cake flavors because every cake is made completely from scratch by Tina and she needed to devote time and attention the day of the event to the rest of the reception meal). Tina and Katie take extreme pride in delivering a fresh and delicious product. They did not fall short of these goals whatsoever.

Word of Mouth is a quality focused, professional caterer in the Ithaca area. They prepare beautiful, wonderfully delicious dishes for any menu. Perfectly presented, excellent service and great to plan the menu with. Highest qulaity food and service in the area.
