We love our coach Danny who helped us get prepared for our first dance for our wedding. We enjoyed the quality time so much together beforehand that we have signed on to continue pursuing dance lesson while still enjoying that quality time together.
My fiancé and I learned so much and had a great time. He learned how to lead and using just a few lessons, we managed a half-way decent wedding push-pull swing on our wedding day! 5/5 would recommend
This dance company has two locations, I believe the following applies to both though we only used the Hendersonville location.
When we reached out to World Champion Productions, they were very nice and said that through 'The Knot' our first class was free. It all sounded great, so we went in and started our dance lessons. We had three classes for $35 all together, which we thought was a great deal. We loved our instructor and were excited with our experience up to that point. There were a few things that seemed odd - continuous upselling of "parties", bringing in new friends, and the most frustrating - they spent a lot more time talking to us about how dance would make our lives better and not on teaching us new skills.
My fiance heard from a few coworkers that they were taking more advanced level classes at the same company and were getting asked for large amounts of money to continue, so they decided to leave. This sounded very odd to us, since we had paid very little and had a good experience so far. We decided to start investigating and were a little disturbed by the reviews online about the high pressure sales techniques and that the instructors work on commission. Before our last free class, our instructor told us that our last class would be a bit longer and we were ready for the next "program". My fiance and I realized that this was when the sales pitch was going to happen.
Thursday night we went in to World Champion Productions, reviewed the steps we knew and then had to fill out a sheet of why dancing is something we want to continue. The list included items like 'it's a good hobby, spend time together, exercise', and then our instructor filled out a lesson plan for our next "program", though it seemed it was already predetermined and said we needed to check more items as to why we want to continue. We were then graded on our ability and told they needed to check the computer to see what the current "price" was going to be.
We believe that the price was already created, and they had us wait for 10 minutes before going into the managers office. We were told there was no pressure about the price or we can pay in installments. They then brought us in the office, shut the door and pressured us to pay $2,000+ to continue dancing for three months. The whole extravangza took two hours and we probably were dancing for approximately 15 minutes.
As a couple who is planning a wedding this is the last thing we want and/or expected. We were hoping to spend time together and learn to dance, especially for our upcoming wedding, not deal with a sales pitch from a commission based dance company.
I highly recommend any brides/grooms to avoid utilizing this company to save your time and sanity.
