I recently celebrated my second wedding anniversary, and as I’ve reflected on that special day, one of the best decisions I made was hiring Xiaoqi as my wedding photographer. From ...
our very first interaction to the final delivery of our wedding album, Xiaoqi has been nothing short of phenomenal.
She beautifully captured every moment of our engagement, tea ceremony, and wedding day. I needed someone who could handle my lively, rambunctious family while keeping everything on schedule, and Xiaoqi exceeded my expectations. Despite our tight timeline, she managed everything with grace and ease, commanding the room when needed, without ever losing her calm.
Every time I look back at our photos, I can’t help but smile because she captured so many candid and meaningful moments. Her attention to detail, deep care for her clients, ability to stay ahead of the curve, and artistic eye make her an exceptional photographer.
If you’re considering her for your big day or any special event—run, don’t walk, to book her!
Absolutely amazing experience. We booked our engagement and wedding photos with Xiaoqi. She made two awkward people look so natural and cute. Not to mention her creativity and arti...
stry when it comes to photo shoots! She was highly responsive, extremely organized, and her photos absolutely captured the energy and feel we wanted for our wedding day. We could not be happier working with Xiaoqi and her team. Incredible photos, incredible staging, and most importantly she was a genuine delight to get to know.
"We had the great pleasure of working with Xiaoqi Li and Jess on our wedding day and CANNOT recommend them enough!
Booking Process: When I first did my discovery call with her, you...
could tell she had a passion for what she did, and it was more than just a job to her. I immediately felt at ease with her and knew that there was no other choice for our photography.
Xiaoqi has several different packages available. We went with the Gelato Package with Jess and Xiaoqi as our photographers. Because we had gotten engagement photos done already, we instead added an extra hour of coverage for the wedding day. Looking back, I would have loved to have a separate session getting to know them both a little better in person, but we had enough planning calls that I felt comfortable day of!
Xiaoqi had a couple planning calls through the process and several timeline questionnaires. This was SO helpful in guiding conversation between my husband and I about what we wanted during the day. Xiaoqi was incredibly respectful of all of our decisions about what we did or did not want. After getting an idea of our vision, she created a thorough timeline that we used for all of our other vendors. It was great to have someone else as detail oriented as I was going into the process. I felt incredibly confident with her.
On the day of, it had rained that morning and some of our original plans had to be scrapped. They were quick to offer suggestions of where we could still get great shots. They both had a keen eye for detail and framing to get amazing photos. Even better, they kept everyone laughing and at ease, but still herded our very bombastic group the entire time. In between the formal, posed photos, they were capturing quiet, intimate moments others may pass by. I left feeling like every moment was captured!
I would argue Xiaoqi has one of the fastest turnaround times for sneak peek photos in the business! As an anxious bride who wants to have photos to share and look back on, she truly delivered! On the dot, 8 weeks later, our full wedding album was ready. Now, what I will say about Xiaoqi, is that she does a reveal celebration. Instead of just getting a link to look at the photos (which I would naturally do even if it's in the middle of a work day), we got a chance to sit down together and look back through all the highlights of the wedding day. We laughed, cried, and laughed again watching it back. For something as intimate and personal as a wedding, I wouldn't want anything less when getting back the photos of the day. We had over 900 photos back from the day, and while I am VERY good at finding everything I dislike about myself, I struggled to look at the things I hated when I was so busy looking at the emotions that Xiaoqi and Jess captured. And that's why I chose them to shoot our wedding. Because they capture what love looks like. They capture you and your family and friends in their most authentic, loveable moments. And I know that when I'm opening up our photo album 50 years from now, I'll still be transported back to exactly how I felt in that moment - so, so in love with my husband, and so happy to be surrounded by the people I love.
So when you're looking at a photographer, I implore you - this is one area not to skimp on your budget. Because at the end of the day, this is how you'll remember your day. I wouldn't have trusted anyone else to capture those moments. So when I say, don't walk, run to hire Xiaoqi and Jess for your day, I mean it!
I just can't say enough good things about Xiaoqi. From the very beginning, I knew she would be a special photographer when she responded to our initial inquiry with a personalized ...
video. She was on the pricier side of our options, but we were so impressed by our work and recognized the photos are going to be a source of happiness for years. I am so glad we went with her because she was so communicative and really took time to get to know us as a couple. During the wedding weekend, she really helped assuage our anxieties especially as we faced a nightmare situation with members of my family infected by covid. The photos were absolutely gorgeous and everyone complimented them. Highly, highly recommend

red of our day are breathtaking and so special, and we are so grateful for her work and talent. She worked so well with us and our wedding party, our family, and even our 5 and 3 year old nephews. Every photo she took tells such a beautiful story and it took us right back to every moment of our wedding day.
Xiaoqi was our wedding photographer and was easily our favorite vendor that we worked with for our wedding. She made us feel at ease, made sure the pictures were what we wanted, e...
fficient, and unintrusive at the event. The final pictures came out better than we could have ever imagined. She really caught the joy and happiness of our event, and gave us reminders for a lifetime of how great the day was. Finally, she really helped us through the process of putting the album together and understanding out choices for purchasing pictures. I would book her for an event again, in a heart beat.
Working with Xiaoqi Li Photography was one of the absolute best decisions my wife and I made when planning our wedding. The quality of her photos speak for themselves, but what doe...
sn't always come across in photos is that Xiaoqi and her team are also incredibly organized, thoughtful, and accommodating at every single step of the wedding planning process.
There was not a single moment throughout wedding planning where we were at all nervous or worried about Xiaoqi's role in the whole thing. She's constantly on top of deadlines and details, always comes prepared with thoughtful little gifts and helpful ideas, and her attention to detail in helping plan the big day was seriously impressive. She's incredibly open-minded and patient throughout the entire process but can also be assertive when you need her to be. As a photographer myself, you don't find many photogs with the level of organization, professionalism, and attention to detail that Xiaoqi displays at all times. She's a true photography unicorn -- and on top of that, her photos are AMAZING!
Our big day was about as close to perfect as we ever could have hoped and Xiaoqi and her team are a big reason behind that. And thanks to her team, we'll have incredible photos to remember that perfect day for the rest of our lives and some amazing heirlooms and mementos to pass along to our kids one day.
Thank you Xiaoqi Li Photography for helping make our big day so wonderful!
We would highly recommend Xiaoqi’s photography services to all couples. She is extremely organized, inclusive, knowledgeable, and talented. She has a knack for capturing special mo...
ments and the “feel” of a wedding day, from start to finish. Xiaoqi guided us through the process of figuring out what we wanted out of our wedding photography and gave us tons of advice. I felt like I knew exactly what to expect from our day thanks to her exquisite timeline, and I knew everything important to me was going to be captured. She also gave us a ton of “extras” like encouraging notes when we were getting close to our date, several sneak peaks to share with family right after the wedding, and scheduling a full photo reveal session to get us excited to see our pictures.
I cannot recommend Xiaoqi enough!! Xiaoqi is not only phenomenal photographer but also a complete joy to work with! She was extremely organized from day 1 and kept us on track with...
wedding planning...she really served almost as a "second wedding planner" in terms of helping us create our wedding timeline. She helped us feel at ease, which really translated into both our engagement and wedding photos coming out natural and unstaged. She really listened to our feedback on what particular moments or special people in our lives we would like captured. Her ability to capture candid moments of joy is incredible and will will cherish our photos for so many years to come. She was perfection from our first zoom meeting to our final reveal session and album creation. If you are looking for an extremely talented, kind, creative and organized photographer then look no further!

upported by her experience, professionalism, craft, and empathy, while still feeling like we had the space to have the experience we wanted. She captured our elopement in a way that felt truly genuine to us. She was also very game to work with us to include our rascally pup into our day. The process was fun and joyful, and the results were stunning!
Xiaoqi was absolutely incredible to work with and gave us the most amazing wedding photos that we will be able to cherish for years to come. She perfectly captured all the love and...
joy of our big day! She is knowledgeable, professional and so very thoughtful in her work. Book her immediately!!
Xiaoqi is the absolute best! What sets Xiaoqi apart is how much she cares about the couples she works with. She truly spent time to get to know us, and it shines through in all of ...
the photos from our engagement session and our wedding. What drew us to Xiaoqi was her talent in finding the best candid moments of joy and emotion, and she really delivered. She and her team captured every key moment from our wedding day, and every time we look through the gallery, it is like reliving the day in the best way. She even managed to capture tiny moments I’d forgotten about! Not only is Xiaoqi an amazing photographer, but she is also a true confidant and friend. She is extremely organized, walking us through every part of the process pre-wedding and keeping us on track on the day of. She also shared her knowledge of the wedding industry, advice we valued greatly as we planned our big day. I could go on and on about how much we love Xiaoqi…but the moral of the story is: if you have the chance to work with her, do it!!
WOW!! That is all we can say about Xiaoqi’s photography service!! Xiaoqi truly takes the time to get to know her clients. We hired Xiaoqi to take the photos for our daughter’s we...
dding. Her professionalism and artistic eye are both top-notch. She had preview photos from the wedding shoot that she set up on a laptop at the wedding reception, and everyone commented on how fabulous every photo looked! Some of our favorites were the black and white photos she took! Her organization of the photo shoot on the wedding day was clearly evident as Xiaoqi and her staff worked to get the best shot and capture every moment of the day without being obtrusive or disruptive. If you are able to book Xiaoqi as your wedding photographer, do it!! You will definitely not be disappointed. We will highly recommend Xiaoqi’s services to all who ask!
Xiaoqi is the best! I have known her for years and she did our engagement photos and photographed our wedding. She is incredibly conscientious, and she captures what really matters...
. All of our posed shots and formal portraits are stunning, but Xiaoqi went so far above and beyond just those! She captured the candid and emotional moments throughout the day that really matter-- the sort of moments where you see the photo and you are instantly transported back to the memory. And she really cares about her clients. We met with her many times throughout the process, and she took so much time to help us go over our timeline and other decisions relating to the wedding. She had lots of helpful tricks and tips for the wedding day, too. She has a fun and calming presence-- which is really important to consider, given that your photographer will be around you for your entire wedding day! All of my friends and family commented on how professional she was at the wedding, and they were all impressed at how she seemed to be everywhere at once, capturing all of the best parts of the day! There are so many decisions to make when wedding planning-- take one off your plate and book Xiaoqi as your photographer. You won't regret it.

cts are breathtaking, and she is very affordable. My wife and I actually met Xiaoqi by accident; our first photographer double-booked and, when she realized her mistake, she hired Xiaoqi to work our first wedding (we did two ceremonies due to COVID-19). We were so impressed by Xiaoqi and her work that we decided we wanted to hire her on the spot for a second wedding ceremony once things became a bit safer. Xiaoqi spares no detail and does a fantastic job of putting you at ease while you work through your wedding planning and photo planning process. She facilitated a very thorough planning meeting with us to make sure that she was able to highlight every specific detail that was important to us. She also does a fantastic job directing (before our wedding(s) she asked if we wanted her to give us directions, which we did, because we didn't know what we were doing!). I am so happy that we met Xiaoqi and decided to hire her again, it was such a great, pleasant, and comforting experience. We have beautiful prints and albums that we can cherish forever and we didn't have to sacrifice our bank account for quality or vice versa. Xiaoqi, thank you so much for your great work and absolute professionalism. We'll call you for our 25th!!
We booked Xiaoqi very early on in our wedding planning process and knew that pictures were going to be one of the most important aspects of our wedding. Xiaoqi has exceeded our ex...
pectations for the last year and half. From our discovery phone calls to learn about one another to Xiaoqi’s attention to detail, climbing on banisters to get the perfect shot, her customer service, and laid back personality, she was our best investment yet! She is thoughtful, kind, and hardworking and takes pride in her work. Her work speaks for itself and is more than just a photograph or memory – her photos tell stories. She was also able to give us sneak peeks quickly and kept us on our toes until the final products showed up in our email! She helped us pick photos and developed an engagement album with us. On our wedding day, it rained and was chaotic and we had a huge wedding party, but Xiaoqi showed up EARLY, was flexible, and trucked through the rain and mud to get all the shots for our Chinese and Western ceremonies. She even had sneak peeks for us within the same night at our wedding! She is simply the best!
I can't say enough great things about our wedding photography experience with Xiaoqi. Not only is she an absolutely incredible photographer, her business acumen and level of custom...
er service are second to none. She had regularly scheduled calls with us during the process, put together a timeline for the day of our wedding and sent regular thoughtful gifts (personalized cookies, gift card for a date night, etc). We were thoroughly impressed with Xiaoqi from the minute we interacted with her and she absolutely worked her butt off during our wedding - you'd see her running from place to place to make sure she got the perfect shot. She surprised us with a sneak peak of photos AT OUR VENUE the night of our wedding AND sent them to us via email so that we could share with family and friends. Thank you Xiaoqi for capturing our day and for providing us with such an amazing experience. We are so appreciative!
I can't remember how we found Xiaoqi, I think it was a referral from a referral. I needed someone who was familiar with a Chinese Tea Ceremony with a photo journalistic flare and ...
she was it. We had a short time frame and originally she wasn't available but she was able to make it work on our special day. We're so glad we found her. From the prep conversations to the after event follow-up. Working with her was great! I want to have another event just so she can photography it.

ecause of her beautiful portfolio but because of her professionalism, friendliness, attention to detail and organizational skills. The last thing a bride needs is to worry about is one of their vendors. Especially, since our wedding was thousands of miles away. I also needed a videographer, so Xiaoqi partnered with the awesome Stephen James for a rockstar wedding duo. Xiaoqi’s intricate planning from start to finish was nothing short of amazing. All during the planning phases she asked photographer related questions, I hadn’t even thought about. It’s comforting not having to worry about any of those details on your big day. Xiaoqi was everywhere and no where at the same time. We felt like rockstars with them following us around the resort. Xiaoqi went above and beyond! Capturing so many great shots of us and our family and friends. We have so many great pictures to cherish now and forever. Xiaoqi delivered a wonderful final product in the end! We couldn’t be happier!
Tip: When it comes to wedding budgets, don’t skimp on your photo/video budget! It’s worth the money 10x over!
Rating: 5/5
From the beginning, Xiaoqi showed her professionalism and flexibility in navigating our complicated requests and helping us to craft our wedding days (because we had TW...
O in TWO DIFFERENT CITIES!) so that things would run smoother. She was also flexible to an extreme, showing that she is prepared and able to handle the myriad of little snags that will crop up when organizing any large event. In addition, Xiaoqi was very organized and punctual and detailed with her responses as we transitioned from planning the engagement shoot to working out the kinks in the wedding days. My favorite experience of working with Xiaoqi is how you can feel her passion for her work and her product. The quality of her work speaks for itself, and I could go on for many more words about composition, pose, lighting. More importantly, though, I could feel that she cares about making sure your memories are captured in a way that will make you look back at her photos and say, "Wow, I can remember exactly how it felt when this was photographed."
When Wayne and I sat down to prioritize what was most important to us about our wedding day, in unison we both said PHOTOGRAPHY! Creating memories is a motto I use almost daily and...
how can you create beautiful memories of your wedding day if you do not take careful consideration into which photographer you will use? We were prepared for a long and hard search for someone who was creative, had an eye for beauty and a flair for managing our combined families on wedding day!
Xiaoqi was actually a recommendation from a photographer that I was looking to book for our NYE wedding date but already had a prior engagement to attend. I am so so happy she made this recommendation of Xiaoqi because the journey has been so sweet (Xiaoqi lovesss dessert)! Xiaoqi is not your average Wedding Photographer, she provides an EXPERIENCE! I have never been married and do not plan to do this again so my expectations were low but Xiaoqi blew me away. Her attention to detail, her willingness to get to know who Wayne and I are as a couple and our family dynamic were so important to us. We worked with her for our engagement photos and day of wedding photos and HOPEFULLY maternity and newborn photos when the day comes! She is a full service photographer using some of the latest and greatest technology but most importantly capturing the moments that we will hold dear for the rest of our lives.
Our partnership with Xiaoqi didn’t just stop after the wedding day, she didn’t just send us a zip drive with thousands of pictures to comb through on our own… she set up individual time in her new studio to review everything! When we heard we would have a “reveal/premiere” day, we thought she was ludacris! We just wanted our pictures, but we trusted her and knew there was a method to her madness! Upon entering the modern, classically decorated studio with plush couch, marble table and a spread of snacks (with champagne!) we sat down to enjoy our first look at our wedding slideshow of Xiaoqi’s magic. We were floored, had chills and became emotional as we took a walk down memory lane of that very special day that began our marriage journey.
We carefully curated our wedding album with her expertise and guidance and loved every moment of the experience! Xiaoqi truly is one of a kind, her eye for capturing beauty is second to none and her energy and personality is infectious. We have a lifetime of memories thanks to Xiaoqi!
Xiaoqi is AMAZING - a serious professional, really cool and down to earth. She is everywhere and nowhere at once, making sure that she snags the shot without interrupting the day. ...
We felt like ourselves the whole time with her and she was very flexible in taking direction on where we wanted the emphasis of the day. She also wasn’t afraid to direct our unruly families to get everyone in position when needed, and it resulted in absolutely beautiful photos! She is unendingly thoughtful and never failed to bring us small treats here and there based on our like and interests - she really took the time to get to know us and we never felt like ‘just another couple’ with her.
Xiaoqi was fantastic! She is very thorough in planning out the day ahead of time including timing, what group shots you want, what is important to you, etc. She was so friendly and...
really made everything easy.
We had a small wedding party with only a dinner to follow. She got so many great pictures in a short period of time.
After the wedding we received all of our pictures in about a month after the wedding day which is super fast. She also sent us a few preview pictures 2 days after the wedding.
The overall experience was fantastic! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.
Xiaoqi is the best thing that could have ever happened to our wedding! She is really friendly and took the time to get to know us as a couple and asked what we wanted. She captured...
every moment we wanted and more. She really is an artist and is incredibly professional in every interaction. If you want good photos, a smooth and personal experience with your photos, I recommend hiring her. Having her through this experience went above and beyond just photos.
Xiaoqi is an incredible photographer, and a joy to work with. Her work is STUNNING, art quality, put it on your walls and be proud stuff! Her photos capture not just the scene but ...
the emotions too. She spent a lot of time really getting to know us and what we were looking for before the wedding, and then was everyone at once and yet somehow never in the way at the wedding! We are in love with our photos and so thankful we chose Xiaoqi!
Xiaoqi Li’s photographs are simply amazing. Every memory from our wedding is recorded in glorious detail, through the eye of a true artist. We’re so excited to have these photos to...
share and enjoy for the rest of our lives.
Xiaoqi was also a highlight among our interactions with wedding vendors. She was always easy to talk to and worked with us to help us find the perfect photography package. At the main event she made sure to go the extra step to get every photo. We highly recommend Xiaoqi Li Photography!
I had a very unique wedding and Xiaoqi was able to not only meet but exceed our expectations! We got married at Tough Mudder, which is a muddy, exciting, obstacle course race (we d...
id the 5K version). She kept up with us and took over 3,000 images at the race. Then, we cleaned up and went to the reception where she took even more photos. She really took the time to understand what we wanted for our images, that although it was our day, our friends and family were important too. She captured incredible moments we are so grateful we now have forever. She is friendly, kind, fierce but gentle with getting everyone's attention. She directs without being demeaning, and she knows what she's looking for in a shot and gets it. She listened to what me and my husband wanted and we didn't miss a single image we wanted. We really have a full play by play of our entire day and I cannot ask for anything more. Thank you SO much Xiaoqi!!!
I couldn’t be happier with the photos Xiaoqi took of our wedding. They are a joy to look at and we love having them in our home. My grandparents weren’t able to attend, and they re...
ally appreciated seeing how Xiaoqi captured all the important moments. I also appreciated how flexible she was with our traditions!
This young lady has become a master of her craft and if you have the opportunity to hire her as your wedding photographer, I recommend you take it!
I’ve been in my fair share of ...
weddings before my own, and Xiaoqi’s skill, creativity, and demeanor are unmatched. She managed the day’s schedule, yet made smart improvisations as needed. During our ceremony and reception, she was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. She was bold and captured moments others may have lost.
Xiaoqi allows you to simply focus on soaking up all the magic and love that is your wedding day. Then, when her work is complete, you have the ability to look back on that magic every day. My husband and I could not be happier with our investment!
My wife's and my experience working with Xiaoqi was excellent from start to finish. We really liked the fact that she took the time right away to know our interests in photography ...
and more importantly, who we are. We had a fun easy-going conversation with her and were immediately comfortable from that point forward. We were really impressed as she started sending questionnaires, with the amount of thought and planning that went into her work. She was always extremely responsive and would get back to us quickly with any questions we had. We never had to wait more than a couple of hours and most responses were within 15 minutes. The wedding went off exceptionally well and Xiaoqi was incredible there. She came to the site about 30 minutes earlier than she needed to just to get a head start. She worked nonstop trying to get photos of everything we wanted and got along with everyone at the wedding. Even with certain parts of the ceremony and reception happening too early and others too late, she easily adapted and made everything work. After the wedding, she met with us to go over the photos and see if we wanted an album or any large printed pictures. The photos all turned out wonderfully. And when meeting with us, she was very understanding of our budget constraints and did not try and pressure us into buying more. We worked together after that to put a small album together and it turned out beautifully. All in all, our experience could not have been better.
My Wife and I sought out photographers online for our wedding and we started taking calls to get a feel for each person and how they conducted business. Most were nice but would e...
mail nonstop or send invoices immediately. Xiaoqi and I’s beginning and conversation went very differently. One of her first questions was, “what inspires you about photos?” We talked for a while about the style and focus my Wife and I wanted for our photos and it was immediately obvious she was our photographer. Along the way she kept us in check with regular updates, clear invoice and payment schedules and she even sent us a Five Guys gift card to help alleviate our stress! On the day of our wedding Xiaoqi arrived early and, knowing we had a very large family, was organized with a detailed list of shots, felt extremely comfortable directing large groups and got all of our photos done on schedule. My Wife and I cannot say enough good things about Xiaoqi’s professionalism, her technical ability and just overall how cool of a person she is. We just did our preview session and our photos turned out amazing! We will be working with Xiaoqi for maternity and baby photos and…every chance we can get!
When my husband and I were looking for a photographer, she got back to us within minutes of us asking for a quote, with a phone call. Xiaoqi is very easy going and gives off a laid...
back vibe, relaxing any tension and indecisiveness that comes with it. We didn't know much about what we wanted exactly, but she took our vague idea and did most of the work without expecting too much from us. As the day got a little hectic, she held her ground and got what she needed to get despite people being hungry, hot and impatient. The day went by in a blur, she never seemed to be in the way and she was great at catching some emotional moments with us and the guests. She does video calls, text, emails and is willing to meet with clients in person (we live in Richmond). She does a great job of looking out for what you want and not just trying to make an extra buck.
My husband and I were looking for a photographer to shoot our elopement so I trolled Instagram and came to find Xiaoqi. Right off the bat she was readily available to provide infor...
mation about her services and schedule. She was very considerate and accommodating to the fact that it was a low key, intimate courthouse “wedding” on short notice. She proved to be very professional and efficient with working out all the contract details and pricing, as well providing and acquiring necessary information for the shoot. The day of the shoot she was on time and so easygoing and friendly. It was like having a good friend taking your photos. Normally I don’t see myself as being photogenic but she made me feel very comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. The portraits were gorgeous and of high quality. But more so, the candids!! She captured me and my husband in moments we were not even aware of but made for treasured and loving memories. People cannot stop complimenting our photos and how full of life they are. Our gallery was posted way ahead of schedule which was a bonus! I cannot say enough great things about my experience working with her nor can I thank her enough for being invested in our story and capturing our happiest moment so gorgeously. I highly recommend her and look forward to working with her in the future!
My husband and I hired Xiaoqi to photograph our elopement in April and were absolutely blown away by the entire experience. Not only are the photos stunning, but Xiaoqi was an abso...
lute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. She is personable, professional, and extremely easy to communicate with. I was nervous about being awkward in front of the camera, but Xiaoqi’s friendly personality put us right at ease and you can definitely tell how relaxed we are in the pictures, they turned out great! Xiaoqi has an amazing eye and is a gifted photographer, and is also on top of it in the business department. She delivered our gallery ahead of schedule and provided a phenomenal value. It can be hard to find someone who strikes such an important balance between creative and professional, and Xiaoqi nails it! We had so much fun working with her, and would hire her again in a heartbeat.
