We rented the Koi Room for our wedding -- it was absolutely magical! We loved having our ceremony and reception in the garden. The food was delicious and the venue gorgeous. Even ...
my carnivore father thought Yamashiro's vegetarian and vegan offerings were delicious! Sydney, the events director, was knowledgeable, generous and organized. 10/10 would book again <3.
When I started planning I wanted to find a venue that could offer an all in one package for a small ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception. Yamashiro seemed like a great fit...
at first, but the actual experience was stressful due to the in-house event manager, Sydney, who you're required to coordinate with. Communication and actual planning was very limited on her end. Sydney never answered the phone or returned voicemails. The first time we talked to her was at our tasting (which we initiated). When emailing questions almost every time she would half answer one or two and ignore the rest. As another reviewer mentioned, her answers would change day by day when asking her about things like whether we could play music, do speeches, etc... Despite it being in our contract and discussing in detail, there were at least three times when she made it seem like she didn't expect us to do the ceremony at the venue. We were nervously waiting for the other shoe to drop and find out she had double booked us or something. She also tried to casually increase the pricing a couple months before the wedding and backtracked when we referred to our contract.
She ended up not even coming on actual wedding day, which honestly made me more relieved than anything. She never neglected to mention how she was busy coordinating other, much larger events than ours. When we arrived at Yamashiro at the time we arranged with Sydney, the doors were locked and we had to wait for the staff to arrive. In addition, there was construction blocking out sections of the venue and Halloween decorations everywhere, something she didn't mention would be there (we worked around them for our photos). We had to spend time fishing pumpkins and plastic body parts out of the bushes of the ceremony garden. The rest of the wedding went pretty smoothly. The restaurant manager, Tyler, was super helpful and the rest of the staff was great. Everyone especially loved the bartender, Jordan. However I would never recommend Yamashiro as a wedding venue to anyone with Sydney coordinating.
Honestly, I’m sad to write such a negative review. I got married at Yamashiro in August 2022. I had really high hopes with it’s beautiful location, especially considering the amoun...
t of money we spent on such a small wedding. However, the event coordinator Sydney, was really terrible. She took a long time to respond to emails, didn’t answer most of my questions, and her answers changed depending on the day. The day before the wedding she was texting me, asking me things about the wedding that she should have known the answers to. She was asking me if we planned on having the ceremony there, after we clearly paid extra specifically for it. She was asking me about music, if I planned on bringing my own music… this is the DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING. I had to initiate a food tasting a few weeks before. I specifically asked about vegan options since I’m vegan and so were some of my guests. She brought out food that, we found out later, wasn’t in fact available for the wedding buffet and wasn’t actually vegan! The day of the wedding, she was nowhere to be found during the ceremony/cocktail hour. Our guests and us were standing around waiting for the cocktails and appetizers to be served. There was nothing going on until my sister found the manager and asked him where is the service we paid for. I found out later that Sydney was giving a tour of the restaurant to other potential clients during that time. And, one of the most disappointing things noted that day, was during the reception my guests were trying to tip the bartender and staff, but they saw Sydney taking their tips. I find that absolutely unacceptable, considering we paid an extra fee for Sydney. She shouldn’t be taking tips from the staff serving us. In conclusion, the location is incredible, one of the best in LA, however, a bad event coordinator can really add extra stress to an event that is already extremely stressful. I got incredible photos, but I would warn anyone from having their wedding there as long as Sydney is their event coordinator.
The coolest venue to hold your wedding. The view is extraordinary. We reserved the garden room to hold our ceremony and reception. We had a small number of guest (40) and it was so...
nice and roomy still. Sydney, was so easy to work with. Always nice and fast to answer any questions we had. We are very pleased with the venue and how beautiful it was to hold our big day there.
We had a great experience here. Brittany helped us customize the food and decor to fit exactly what we were envisioning, and it was delicious. Standouts were the sushi, Asian BBQ r...
ibs, and strawberry doughnut tower we had instead of a cake. Our guests loved the beauty and intimacy of the garden courtyard at night. Plus, you can’t beat the view of LA from the front over a cigar at the end of the night!
Our wedding at Yamashiro was absolutely beautiful with incredible food and drinks, and (thanks to Bridget & John!) was a breeze to plan. Our ceremony took place in the beautiful ou...
tdoor garden and our reception also included the attached (and air conditioned!) skyview room with incredible views of the LA skyline. The food options are plentiful and nearly all of our guests commented on how delicious everything was. We were also thrilled to have Yamashiro create a beautiful (& yummy) sushi display for our cocktail hour!
The space and food are incredible, but what really made this venue amazing was Bridget Kerley, our day-of coordinator. Bridget worked with us for months before the wedding to ensure that everything was perfect. Since we were planning our wedding from Rhode Island, Bridget spent hours over email and on the phone with me to work out our menu, the seating floor plan, the day of timeline and countless other things (including saving some of the aforementioned sushi for my husband and I to enjoy after our pictures were taken!). Throughout the entire process, and most importantly throughout the entire wedding day, I could relax knowing that Bridget had everything under control. Bridget and her team are among the best and I would not hesitate to recommend her and Yamashiro to anyone looking for the perfect wedding day.
I absolutely loved my experience with John and Bridget at Yamashiro for our wedding in May! It is such a beautiful and unique venue, great food, and great value! Having both the ce...

This location was a dream come true. A beautiful venue full of history with a gorgeous view of Los Angeles. Our coordinators (Reem and Bridget) were outstanding. Everything was exp...
lained in detailed and they made sure that our wedding went without a single problem. It was PERFECT! If you have been to Yamashiro, you know the food is delicious.
