wedding day flow smoothly despite many last minute changes due to weather. Scott was our DJ and I have never seen a dance floor more lit up! The songs flowed from one to the next flawlessly, keeping everyone dancing until they couldn’t anymore! He was very skilled to help get our tentative guests out on the dance floor but (although I know it broke his heart) kept the party tame enough to help prevent any one from getting too close or relaxed on the dance floor. to please our clients. The MC/DJ's voice and oratorical skills is his signature trait as noted by other reviews. It is apparent that the room acoustics and layout negatively affected speech intelligibility. Music selection and strategic programming is often not understood by some clients and their guests. An extremely experienced and skillful DJ generally will analyze (read) the varying elements presented and apply years of practical application and professional judgement to maximize the potentials of any dance party. This practice is often interpreted as not playing "our requests". Many of the "must play" songs were played at this event as marked on our list and dance participation was vigorous. It is frustrating that the DJ profession is not respected as many other traditional professions when applying skills. Although a complaint is unpleasant to receive, it is examined and may be used for opportunities to improve. Nevertheless, the long standing superb reputation of Yancey Entertainment remains steadfast.

ll Yancey was incredibly professional and easy to work with during our planning process and at our wedding. He met with us on the weekend since we were planning from our of town and was very thorough. We honestly had no idea how the flow of the wedding would go until we met with Marshall. He worked with our other vendors to make sure things were running smoothly during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and kept things moving the whole night. Our guests danced until the lights came on and were so impressed with the music. Guests of all ages were on the dance floor and one guest said to me, "If you are going to throw a party like this, you need to get married every weekend!" I never had to worry about things running smoothly because Marshall was on it! usband's number one priority for a DJ was they needed to be classy, not trashy. We have all been to weddings where the DJ single-handedly kills the vibe. Yancey has been providing Disc Jockey services since 1978, he knows every mistake to avoid! - Upon consultation, Yancey provides his clients with a very descriptive survey which allowed us to choose his attire (casual, suit and tie, tuxedo, etc.), his personality (quiet (just play music), normal (make necessary announcements), moderate (some audience interaction), outgoing (tastefully involved)), and the overall environment we were going for. -SIDE NOTE: Due to his professionalism, Yancey refuses to play explicit music that poorly represents his company (he does provided edited options). Kudos to him! This was obviously not a problem for us, but if it is a problem for you, you may want to seek other services. #2: Options/Packages- Yancey has a variety of options, but everything is adjustable based upon what YOU want. It's YOUR day and he makes sure he is compliant with that. However, he still offers his professional opinion on overall schedule for the day! This is extremely helpful since for most of us, this is our only wedding as bride/groom and he's been doing this for years. These options also included very specific lists of songs TO NEVER PLAY (for example, we DID NOT want the Chicken Dance), songs that were "must play", and songs that we would like to be played if time allows. #3: Affordability- To be fair, we paid more to Yancey than I originally wanted, but it was important to my husband (and worth every penny). We paid $1,195 for Yancey's services which included the ceremony and reception. Well worth it! Every guest, old and young, enjoyed the music and atmosphere that Marshall Yancey created.

I did not want a DJ who talked much and had seen other wedding DJs talk over the music and between every song. Yancey said as much as he needed to and then played music to keep everyone out on the dance floor. We wanted some older music at the beginning so we could have some ballroom dancing and he made a seamless transition into pop music. I have never been to a wedding where I wanted to dance to every single song but my husband and I could barely stay off the dance floor!

ast thing for us to worry about in our wedding. I’m not exaggerating; he is so perfect that we did not have to direct him to do anything on the wedding day. He just did it, perfectly! He kindly met us on site and checked out the location months ahead of time and left us a binder of popular song selections to work with, FOR EVERY PART of the wedding ceremony you can think of (and he helped us to set our wedding timeline!) I requested a special Chinese song to dance with my mom. It’s not even on YouTube and Marshall somehow found it!!! He was the first vendor who contacted us and reminded us of the day, and we had a conference call for 2 hours (on Fathers’ Day weekend!) to finalize the music details! We planned to have an outdoor ceremony but then it rained and stormed so we had to move everything indoor. Marshall had it set up both ways professionally and directed the whole wedding smoothly. The whole city of Frankfort, KY blacked out for a few minutes RIGHT BEFORE I walked down the aisle and Marshall picked up what we’d left off and recovered everything as soon as the electricity went back on! He played so many great songs during the reception that our guests were amazed by what a fun-filled wedding we had! Marshall Yancey is a true friend, and the best DJ you can ever ask for on your special days. He offers the DJ service you can rely on; he is experienced, professional, patient, well-equipped, thorough, punctual … Our family and friends can’t thank him enough for being a big part of our wedding day, and he is and will be our only DJ for any of our events to come!

We also had a very unique venue at the Seelbach's Rathskeller so a DJ that had never played the room might have made the music too loud, but not Yancy Entertainment - everything was perfectly timed and he watched the crowd.
