and I've had problems with updos falling out in the past/previous trials, but when Yin did my hair it stayed in all night long and I got tons of compliments. Yin is exceptionally skilled and really makes you feel relaxed, confident, and comfortable. One thing I especially appreciated was how she made small adjustments between the trial and the wedding to improve on a style I was already really happy with. She did different styles for each of us, and everyone absolutely loved how their hair came out. She is also extremely kind and was fun and relaxed and a real pleasure to spend time with while we were getting ready. Yin is very experienced in both commercial advertising and wedding hair+makeup and can provide a lot of helpful insights on what styles, shades, and colors look good with your dress and photographer’s style and lighting. It was really easy to communicate with her (e.g. I didn’t feel awkward requesting a slightly different lip shade than her recommendation), and she is also very fun and personable. In the hectic hours leading up to the wedding I found her to be a very calm and coolheaded presence, working efficiently and delegating tasks as needed. ooked nice for the photos. I ended up reading out to Yin about a month before my marriage date, and she was so quick to reach out to me and schedule everything. TRIAL MAKEUP/HAIR After my initial email, Yin reached out to me to schedule a trial appointment. She was very upfront regarding the costs, length of time it would take, and the type of research she needed me to do (nothing much, just finding pictures of what I'd like). What was so great about Yin was that she made sure that the style I asked for matched the outfit that I planned to wear the day of. Since the trial took place at her home in Cambridge, I was worried that parking would be difficult, but she ended up providing me with a parking pass! On the day of the trial, Yin was so patient. She explained everything she was doing - from the products being used to why she was applying them the way she did. I had been extremely nervous going in, especially as someone who rarely wears makeup aside from anything on the eyes, but Yin was so great at making sure I felt comfortable. She also made sure to check in with me periodically during the session to make sure that everything was to my liking. At the end of the trial, Yin sat down with me to go over the contract/fees to make sure that there would be surprises the day of. I left feeling great, as the hair/makeup looked exactly like the photos I had sent over! DAY OF THE ELOPEMENT After the trial, I had met with a few friends/family members, including my now-husband, and though they liked the makeup, all of them commented that it was too much. This was not at all Yin's fault! She had done exactly what I asked for, but it was just that the people close to me thought it would be better if I went for a more minimal look. Since my day was meant to be low-key and I wanted to look more like my natural self, I decided to change up the makeup a bit. I emailed Yin a list of changes that I wanted, and was really nervous that she would take offense to it. But she was extremely sweet and understanding, and made me feel so comfortable with the feedback I had just given her. She even offered to schedule me in for another trial. But at this point, I had trusted Yin 's skills enough that another trial wasn't necessary. On the day of, Yin was brilliant! She not only adjusted my makeup the way I wanted, but she also noted the change in weather and applied the foundation accordingly (we had first met when the weather was warmer, but at this point, it was November and my skin was a bit more dry due to the cold). I had been worried about patchy foundation forming throughout the day as my skin can get quite oily, and Yin made sure to pack extra powder for me, along with blotting tissue, sponges, and a really nice powder puff. She took the time to explain how to use each of them, and even included different scenarios of when I should use certain methods. In the end...I didn't even need to use any of them! She had done such a flawless job on the makeup that from morning til night (10:30am-10:30pm), I didn't need to touchup anything at all! I felt amazing that day, and the photos ended up turning out so great!

When COVID hit, I reached out to Yin to figure out what we could do since I didn't want to expose both of us and her family. She agreed to teach me over camera across a few sessions and she even gave me a couple options for what to cover in each lesson. Yin takes her work very seriously and asked that I treat the learning process seriously as well, including doing makeup homework, so I was a bit nervous having never done much other than some eyeliner and concealer. It turned out to be one of the best COVID mini-projects I've done! Yin was warm and friendly, explained adjusting the makeup to my face shape clearly, was receptive to feedback in-between when I thought something was a bit too much, taught me to put on fake lashes, provided product recommendations, and gave me good tips for taking care of the makeup for an outdoor possibly humid day. I don't know if she will always accommodate online learning, but she was truly flexible and professional with me in a tough situation. Would I hire her again? Yes, especially if it means I don't have to buy hundreds of dollars of makeup and tools to do it myself.

Yin and I was so lucky she was available on my wedding date! Yin is extremely professional and takes extraordinary pride in her work. Before our meeting, she asked me to send her pictures of myself, the hair styles, and the makeup styles I wanted. She gave me several pointers, showed me how to do my own touchups, and even had me send her photos 5 hours later to see how well it stayed in place. She also took several photos in natural lighting to get a sense of how I would look on my actual wedding day. I booked her for my hair and makeup and makeup for my mother and mother in law. At the last minute, my maid of honor requested to have her hair and makeup done. I texted Yin the night before with this additional request and Yin was pleasant and accommodating. She arrived promptly on the wedding day, took care of everyone's hair and makeup, and even made sure I had time to eat lunch before doing final touchups. . I was really worried about how my makeup would look after the ceremony, because of the amount of tears I shed, but I looked fine after dabbing the tears away and no retouches were needed. During the trial with Yin, she was incredibly patient with me with the makeup, starting very natural, adding degrees of intensity - effects she knew were necessary for the camera to capture great photos. The transformations she is able to achieve with just a stroke here and there was just amazing to witness! The same with hair, by lifting the pinning on the sides was the only adjustment it took to achieve perfection! It's comforting to be in the company of someone who really knows her profession. (I might also add that she was to refine the look by the time we got to the BIG DAY.) There were so many other ways her experience with weddings squelched the worries of a nervous bride. I can't thank Yin enough for all that she did for me on my wedding day. It ended up being a warm, humid day on my wedding day and my hair and makeup did NOT move! Remained flawless. After both the trial and wedding, I did not want to take the makeup off. I think I may have a new found interest in makeup!

definitely knows her colors. She was able to pick the best color combination of eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick for my complexion. I never considered the colors she had picked and in the end the effect was stunning. Lastly, she is very meticulous and careful with the makeup application which I really appreciated. I never felt she was rushing and she constantly kept stepping back and checking her work to make sure everything came out perfectly. My whole experience with her from booking the trial to scheduling the actual wedding day and the real makeup application was so easy. Not to mention my makeup lasted the whole afternoon and evening!! r recent wedding and that was exactly one month before my wedding date. At that point I was upset, worried, and doubtful that I will ever find someone I like and trust. But finding Yin changed everything! I absolutely agree with another post that Yin is the best! She not only knows her stuff, but she is such a pleasure to work with. She is warm, personable, and passionate about her work! Wedding planning is often very stressful, so it's even more important to find pros who can communicate and listen to your needs and be flexible (rather than imposing their own ideas or preference on you). Yin is exactly like that. She is the whole package! Not only she did a great job on my makeup and hair, my three bridesmaids' hair and makeup, she saved my then fiance's life (literally). It was a very windy day by the ocean, thanks to Yin and her skills, my now husband didn't have to worry about messy hair on our big day. But to me what's even more impressive, Yin is like a great conductor for a symphony. She is skilled, organized, on point, and had everything under control. She got to the site early, kept everyone in check throughout the day, pulled us aside to finish up makeup/hair when needed (we had to do rehearsal the day of and it took longer than expected). After the trial, I sent her a couple comments, she was able to adapt and made changes on the day of. Knowing there would be a change, she got there early and built in extra time than originally planned. Without her, we wouldn't be ready in time for the wedding. The best compliments I received on our big day were: wow, you look beautiful and you look like you! That speaks to Yin's ability to work and accentuate your natural beauty like another comment put it! You really can't go wrong with Yin!

le we were at the trial, she quickly learned my style and was able to create a look that I like. She was also able to provide some great suggestions on hair pieces I should get to match the look. On the wedding day, Yin did hair and makeup for my bridesmaids, my mother, and myself. Everyone loved their makeup. We received many complements throughout the day on how beautiful we look. Yin used waterproof airbrush makeup and it lasted all day with minimal touchups. I would not hesitate to recommend Yin as your makeup artist. She is absolutely amazing to work with and she will make sure you look gorgeous with her talent!
