My mom had a bad experience with a different HMUA for another wedding a few months back and she knew she did not want anything nearly as extreme as what she got before… my mom looked GREAT for my wedding and loved her look so much and felt much more confident! Fortunately, I had an awesome trial with Yin already in June 2022 so I knew to expect nothing but the best. Some slight tweaks were made between the trial and actual wedding day but it worked out perfectly because my wedding day was drizzly and gloomy and Yin (who did both my hair and makeup) accounted for that and how it would look in pictures. I recommended Yin to one of my bridesmaids after my trial for her own wedding and I’m lucky enough to experience her magic again in the next month! Would definitely recommend Yin (and Kettia) for any HMU needs!!

They were punctual, very professional, and communicative. As another review mentioned, they are Planners and Yin composed a neat, concise wedding prep schedule with lots of buffer time, which wasn't needed most of the time! You could also tell how experienced they were in their flexibility and being able to adapt my hotel room into a full-blown prep room (venue didn't have a bridal suite/prep room). I was anxious the morning of the wedding, and they eased all of the nerves. On personality and bridal trial: Yin was wonderful to work with. She was responsive to my emails and calls from the start. Her personality also stood out to me from the beginning, when I did my makeup and hair trial with her- she really hyped me up for the wedding process! I remember leaving the appointment loving her energy. During the trial, she was attentive to my hesitations and comforting to my awkwardness. She listened to what I wanted as well as giving suggestions and different options for the look- a perfect balance. I remember sitting back loving how I looked and knowing I was in good hands. On the makeup and hair durability: Wow, did the makeup lasted all day! It was 80+ degrees, my ceremony was outdoors, and reception in a greenhouse, so very little a/c time. In addition, I took a few pictures out in the later rain, shed a few happy tears, and danced/sweated my heart out, with several headbangs thrown in. Through all of that water, humidity, and movement my makeup and hair were still SO fresh by the end of the night!! Personalizing the makeup and hair: It was important for me to find someone who could do looks for all kinds of complexions, skin, and hair types. Aside from considering my experience, I recommend you check out Yin's portfolio, which makes evident she can do all of that. In the past, I unfortunately found the wrong people and which led to poor makeup and hair service experiences for my complexion and hair (I'm Asian), that made me not look like me. In addition, two of my bridesmaids are black and I needed someone who knew how to work with black hair, that I could entrust my friend's hair to. I was nervous about finding someone who could be sensitive to these anxieties. I told this to Yin and she was promptly on it- she sent contact information for Kettia so my bridesmaid could talk to her one-on-one about what she wanted and how she needed to prepare her hair. Kettia indeed killed it- my bridesmaid absolutely loved the results! Yin and Kettia accentuated the best parts of each one of us whilst keeping it natural, I was very impressed. I hands down definitely recommend Yin- she's very much desired and busy so book her as soon as you can!

She stayed with me all day and into the evening to provide touch up services during the photoshoot post ceremony and a change of hair style for the reception. Everyone loves the hair styles the team created for our bridal party BUT we really really love the makeup - which was so natural and yet made us look sooo good. She also did my husband who has rosacea and wanted to make sure that the photos would look good. His face was so natural and lasted all day. I would be guided by her suggestions both on styles and timing - she’s a professional.

I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience with her. Not only did she do a great job with my wedding party and get us out exactly on time, but she was responsive, flexible, clear about her pricing, and I've never felt better about makeup. I was shocked with how comfortable I felt and how beautiful everything was without making me look like someone completely different. The trial was definitely helpful, as I felt like she took our trial and improved upon it on the day of. I would absolutely recommend her, especially for East Asian people, as I know it's hard sometimes to find someone able to do our makeup well.
