The business was founded by Heather Young, who has passionately practiced yoga for over 20 years. Heather has found that yoga helps calm her anxiety so she can fully appreciate the life around her. When the pandemic hit in 2020, she began soul searching and figuring out what path to take in life. Heather took a leap of faith and moved to the beautiful island of Hawaii where she fell in love with yoga again on the beach. Soon after, Heather created Yoga Big Island with her friend Dana Allen.
Yoga Big Island offers a personalized yoga experience for each couple either leading up to the wedding or on the day. They provide headphones to help couples connect with their surroundings through a combination of zen beats, breathwork, and meditation. The services the company offers are tailored to individuals, partners, wedding parties, families, and groups looking for a pre-wedding bonding experience. Heather and her team are also happy to travel and will go anywhere on the island of Hawaii if desired.

I found the morning yoga class randomly through one of my wedding vendors on Instagram and I am so happy that I signed up a class! My two friends and I did the morning yoga at Old ...
A’s the day prior to my wedding and it was one of the best ways to begin my magical wedding week. Not only were the views spectacular, the flow was grounded around self love and Heather was an AMAZING teacher. My friend was worried that with the headphones we wouldn’t be able to hear the ocean, but we could still enjoy the sounds of the beautiful surroundings while being able to hear Heather perfectly clear with the comfortable headphones. Everything felt super clean and safe because we were outside and Heather provided sanitary products as needed.
Would 100% recommend this yoga class and would have loved to have been able to book a private bridal yoga session, had I known about Yoga Big Island sooner. But the class alone was amazing and was truly a great choice to disconnect from all the wedding stress and provide myself with some much needed self love.
If you’re looking to do private group sessions or if you’re wanting to join an outdoor yoga class, this is the place to book! I will definitely be back for more yoga with Yoga Big Island!

her is an outstanding yoga instructor for all levels. She led us in a slow and relaxing flow so we could all appreciate the day and be present in every moment, which everyone needs, but especially a bride on her wedding day! The headphones she uses are amazing - we listened to music while also being able to hear Heather lead our practice - we wouldn't have been able to hear her without the headphones due to the wind and ocean sounds. We thought the headphones might be disruptive, but they were the opposite! Heather also has an amazing, soothing, voice and read a beautiful poem that left us all in happy tears. Besides the yoga, she also communicated extremely well with me and is so fun to talk to and get to know. She even gave us recommendations on other places to go and things to go while visiting the Island. Overall, I wish I could give Heather 10 stars! You should not miss out on this experience while on the Big Island.
