We hired Annika for our wedding, and while there were some wonderful aspects of our experience, there were a few areas where we felt a bit let down. Firstly, Annika is very talented and captured some beautiful moments from our day. The photos we received were of high quality, and we can see the pure artistry in the work. However, there were a few things that could have made the experience better for us. We were a bit disappointed that our wedding wasn't showcased on their platforms, i.e. Instagram etc, especially since we noticed there were no African American couples/brides featured, and brides following the months after us were also posted instead. Representation is important to us, and it would have meant a lot to see our celebration included. Also, would help show her portfolio that she can capture all beautiful skin tones well! Additionally, there were a few key shots we had specifically requested that were missed, including the dramatic sunset shot, which was really really really important to us. We did get awesome beach photos though. We also felt that more guidance on posing and smiling would have been really helpful, as we sometimes weren’t sure what to do in front of the camera. There were shots where my hair was in the way, the bouquet wasn't needed and overpowered my dress, sunglasses weren't needed in certain shots, and sweat was everywhere. Overall, Annika is a skilled photographer, and we do appreciate the beautiful photos we received. She was able to help capture the day ~ With a few improvements in communication and inclusivity, the experience could have been even better.
