About this vendor
Hi, I’m Laura! I’m a Des Moines wedding photographer. I’ve been shooting weddings since 2009 and have captured hundreds of weddings in that time.I believe that good wedding photography is story-telling in nature and that the best parts of it are the unposed and candid moments. I use a relaxed photojournalistic approach throughout most of the day to ensure your wedding day is comfortable and fun.
Of course, I take pretty pictures of couples in love... but what I do is more than that. The reasons I like to think that my work stands out from the crowd is that there is authenticity and purpose every little thing I do. I'm always shooting for you, not my portfolio. You'll get those beautiful portraits, but along with it you'll get documentation of your wedding day that truly looks and feels like your memories. I do this by finding a balance between staying on top of wedding trends, but remaining cautious about changing the tone or mood of an event by taking too many creative liberties with things like over-styling details, posing, and reception lighting.
My creativity comes alive during our portrait session together. I love finding creative ways to illustrate relationships. Sometimes that is paying attention to subtle details between the two of you and other times it is more playful or visual. It all depends on the couple.

My husband and I made the best decision to book Laura as our videographer for our wedding, on 8/11/2018. You will never ever regret booking Laura to capture the best day of your li...
fe! If I could give these guys 100 stars I would. The whole entire planning experience was so flawlessly executed and Laura was extremely professional and made both my husband and I feel so at ease. Our wedding day highlight makes me cry every time I see it and my husband watches it even more than me! The editing and flow of the highlight did not disappoint. We are so happy with our decision and you will be too. Laura also worked very well with our photographer Katie McDonald. They work together on many other projects and work in tandem without missing a beat.
Thank you, Laura, for capturing our day so incredibly beautifully!
Laura was so great to work with! When we first met to get to know her, we sat down for over an hour to look at her portfolio, learn about her style, and see if she'd be a good fit ...
for us. It was so helpful to meet in person! Laura was very easy to communicate with since day one. She got our photos back to us really quickly, and they looked absolutely beautiful. She tells a story through her photos and did such an amazing job capturing our day. We'd recommend her in a heartbeat!
Laura photographed my wedding in May and did an amazing job! Besides her great photography skills, she is very organized and affordable. After contacting her about a possible quote...
, she called me and we were able to chat about what type of photographer I was looking for, and it was clear she was a good fit. It was so nice to speak to her directly instead of emailing back and forth for a while without getting to know her. A few weeks before the wedding we sat down and planned out the day and the types photographs that were most important to me. After doing this, it was such a relief to know that we were both on the same page. On the day of the wedding, Laura was very efficient and organized. The weather was not great that day, but she was so creative and found ways to get the outdoor shots I wanted. We also received our photos very quickly. All of our photos turned out beautifully! I highly recommend booking Laura to photograph your wedding!
Great pictures very fast editing
I loved having Laura as our wedding photographer. Not only do I love her style of photos, but she was so relaxed. Being laid back myself, it was so great to have someone that had t...
he schedule all organized, but was so flexible if something else came up. After getting our engagement pictures back, I couldn't wait to have our wedding pictures taken. She does a great job of posting a few sneak peak type pictures prior to you receiving your negatives. I loved being able to see a few before getting mine back.
Overall - would definitely use her again and continue to recommend her to friends for family, children and wedding portraits. She also does a discount if you pay all at once (loved this!)
I clicked with Laura from Life Art Photographs from the first consultation and I really felt she wanted to and would do her best in documenting our special day. She asked all the r...
ight questions and was super patient with me up until and on the day of when I forgot to have a must-have list of portraits!! On the day of, she was very professional in getting all the portraits and shots we wanted without being rude to other guests who would try to shoot at the same time as her. We all felt super comfortable with her and her second shooter. Finally, she was very accommodating in that we originally were supposed to be married in 2011, but then had to postpone due to unforeseen circumstances and agreed that we wouldn't forfeit our deposit and it would be used for our 2012 wedding instead. Gorgeous photography and a wonderful woman to work with!!
