Working out of Chicago, IL, Zachera Photo is a wedding photography studio owned by Zachera herself. Her images are taken in a timeless and elegant manner, giving attention to each and every detail. Throughout the entire process, Zachera finds fulfillment in her role as the one to capture the magic present throughout your wedding day.
Zachera knows all about love. She married her sweetheart from high school and is passionate about preserving the narratives of others with the click and shutter of her camera. Her photographic work focuses on mimicking light in a natural and realistic way. As such, each image is carefully edited to showcase the moment with clarity and attentiveness toward the beauty of the moment.
Zachera Photo works with only 20 couples a year. This allows Zachera to give each and every one of her clients' attention and allows her to delve into their love story. The start of the process begins with a chat in which Zachera takes the time to get to know you. She is available for both engagement photoshoots as well as for weddings, snapping a cohesive album to reflect your love.

professionally. So I did so. much. research. before choosing a photographer. I had a giant spreadsheet. There are a lot of amazing photographers in Chicago! And Zachera is the best of them all. Her photos are vibrant and colorful, artistic but not pretentious, and she excels at both wall-worthy portraits and capturing tiny adorable moments throughout the day.
By the time I reached Z on the spreadsheet, I had seen so many beautiful galleries! But Zachera’s were the first to make my heart skip a beat with JOY for two people I’d never met! Somehow she is able to capture this bright, radiant joy that pops out of the screen at you.
Working with Zachera is a dream. She truly is an expert - from helping put together a timeline to having all sorts of tips for enjoying the moment. I ran so many questions by her while planning and she had all the answers, like some sort of magical bridesmaid who knows everything about weddings.
And now that we’ve got our gallery back I am truly amazed by how much she was able to capture. She remembered every single detail on our photo wishlist and made it happen, and so much more. We have the most gorgeous portraits that I will treasure forever. She captured the joy and emotion of the first looks with my Dad and my husband, and the sweet and hilarious moments getting ready with my mom. She took so much care to learn about our multicultural ceremony so she could capture every aspect of it. She went along with all my ideas, including spending all of cocktail hour making sure we got pictures with all our guests. She was in non-stop motion during our reception, capturing the most joyful action shots of our big choreographed dances! We had so much fun planning the decor for the day, and Zachera’s photos capture all of it with so much care, artistry and gorgeous true-to-life colors. We look back through the album and are brought right back to every detail.
But my favorite thing is that before the ceremony I was chilling in the bridal suite, and I hadn’t realized that my aunts were warmly welcoming all our guests and helping them put on bindis and bangles. I didn’t see any of that but Zachera did! I love how many moments between our loved ones happened without us even knowing, and that Zachera’s photos let us experience all of them afterwards.
It’s clear from the photos, but Zachera is a technical wizard. We are an interracial couple and I really wanted to make sure our wedding photos capture the diversity of skin tones across our family and friends. Every person looks incredible in every single photo. On top of that we threw all kinds of lighting situations at her, from a dark restaurant to portraits outdoors at noon. In every picture, she captured exactly what it felt like - and we look amazing!
Zachera is also just the greatest person to have by your side all of wedding day, and we truly think of her as a friend now. My family members still talk about how impressed they are by her organization and ability to wrangle all of us into a family portrait. Zachera and her second shooter Sadie have such kind personalities and made me feel so beautiful all day. Our smiles are 100% genuine! On the most joyous day of your life, you need someone you can trust to capture that joy for you and preserve it forever, and without a doubt that’s Zachera.

Zachera was easy to work with and detail oriented—even remembering individual family members’ names during family photos. She went above and beyond to make sure she knew exactly how to work with the lighting and spaces by joining us at the final walkthrough at our venue. She mastered the lighting at the University Club—which I’m sure is difficult to do as our ceremony backed up to the stained-glass windows overlooking the lake. She also helped us create a timeline that worked perfectly for our location in downtown Chicago and large bridal party.

For both our engagement and wedding photos, she made us feel comfortable (which is no small feat especially for me) and even made it fun! The final product was amazing and captured us as a couple. We really appreciated that her editing style is timeless and classic, and not too stylized.
In addition, when we needed help on determining first look location, permits, or back up plans, she came prepared and proactively helped us tackle challenges. She always found a way to go above and beyond, and felt like we were in good hands.

pher, we knew how important this selection would be. We weren't going to be using video so we knew we wanted someone that would reflect our personality on the other side of the lens. Upon our first call with Zachera- we knew immediately she understood us as a couple. She worked with us amidst tight ceremony location photography requirements and coached us through our engagement shoot flawlessly, immediately making us feel comfortable.
On our wedding day, having Zachera there felt like having another friend or family member alongside us. She captured the day's most important moments with ease, and went through all of the emotions with us. We had initially planned to be outside for photos but the rain forced us to change course- Zachera wasn't phased. She proposed a few different options and let us choose- ultimately I completely forgot it even rained. We had such a fun time with our group capturing our day and the photos.... THEY ARE AMAZING. We got married in May 2022, and even a week ago my friends mentioned Zachera out of the blue and were praising Zachera and her team's professionalism, workflow, and care at our wedding. Throughout the entire process, Zachera has been extremely communicative from day 1 when we inquired about her way back in 2019, survived through two postponements from the pandemic, and finally delivering our finished photos. Zachera's work speaks for itself, and she is just an amazing human being to work with. Zachera knows the right poses to make you and your partner look great on camera, and she definitely hyped us throughout the day with her positive energy. For our wedding, Zachera and her team had to shoot a lot of group photos of family and friends requiring a lot of patience while trying to stick to the schedule, and they executed this so well. I can't imagine anyone other than Zachera capturing our wedding day photos, and we're so thankful to have shared our special day with her!

wedding photos were so incredible that we had a new unforeseen problem, which was choosing which photos to print and display! It is a truly impossibly decision to make, they are all so great I want to have my house decked out in floor to ceiling prints of our photos LOL.
Where I think Z goes above and beyond, and is truly light years beyond her peers is her professionalism and ability to command the room while keeping the energy fun. Taking wedding party/family photos was not only not a headache, it was one of the highlights of our day! Our friends and family to this day talk about how great she was. The energy was light & FUN and it truly made our photos look so candid & effortless. On top of that, she knew the names of VIPs in photos and was able to easily coordinate a large group of people (who are historically difficult to wrangle). I think this is something brides don’t think about when picking a wedding photographer but I promise you the lack of stress around getting all the photos taken is worth EVERY penny. through the entire pandemic with grace and understanding. For our engagement shoot in 2019, Zachera flew all the way to Los Angeles to take stunning photos on the beach. In 2020 when we had the ever popular mini ceremony, Zachera was there to ensure the day was even more beautiful than we imagined. ery talented photographer and is able to capture so much joy and light in her photos. After speaking with her during our first meeting, we knew she was the right person to work with. Her kindness, compassion, wanting to get to know us, and love for what she does were some of the many reasons we wanted to work with her. She is incredibly organized, pays attention to every detail, checked in with us throughout the process, and listened/ really cared about what we wanted to make sure the day was special for us. At first, we were unsure if we were financially able to work with Zachera and her team. However, we decided to make financial adjustments in other parts of the planning to be able to work with her. It was the absolute best decision.
Zachera cares so much for every person she works with. This was clear when we met her but even more evident when the wedding day approached. 3 days before the wedding, we were informed that Zachera would be unable to be at our wedding due to a situation beyond her control. She informed us this is the first time she has ever had to miss photographing one of her weddings. Not only did Zachera show as much emotion and sadness about the situation as we felt, but she did everything she could to make sure we still had a wonderful experience. She was able to find another photographer (Jasmine, who was amazing) 3 days before our HOLIDAY weekend wedding. Zachera spent hours talking with us, reassuring us, and making sure every detail we planned with her would be brought to life with the other photographer. We cannot even imagine how much time she spent going over the timeline, relaying our wishes, and explaining everything with Jasmine—with only 72 hours before our wedding day. We have so much respect for Zachera because while we were absolutely devastated to hear that she would not be able to be there, she made sure that the day went smoothly and was there with us in spirit.
We recommend Zachera to everyone we know; her photography is beautiful but even more than that, SHE is the best, most organized, most positive, and most caring professional we have ever worked with. And for us, finding someone we could trust and rely on for our special day meant everything.

at a lot of photographers, it was an overwhelming experience - but you know that feeling when your shoulders finally relax, something just clicks and feels right? That's what we both felt after speaking with Zachera. Simply put - Zachera is a special human and an amazingly talented photographer. She has a vibe and energy to her that both excited us about the possibilities of what our wedding could be and calmed the nerves we both had going into planning. Neither of us are super comfortable in front of a camera, but Zachera is an artist and made us both feel so comfortable and took the extra effort to get to know us as if we were long-time friends. r family and friends - the one that the moment people get engaged, you're telling them all about her. High quality, professional, fun, energetic, punctual, reliable, organized, prepared - all words that can be used to describe Zachera and her team. My husband and I knew Zachera was the one the moment we hopped on a video call with her. Her positive energy radiated through the screen and we instantly clicked. We felt at ease and knew we were in good hands.
At our engagement photo session, Zachera made the whole experience so fun and lighthearted. We are both camera shy people but she made us feel so comfortable and even wore a portable speaker for some background music. It was such a nice touch to avoid the silence and made the whole experience feel more romantic and natural. She was so great with our dog as well, which is major brownie points with us!
Throughout the whole planning process, Zachera was my sounding board. She let me bounce ideas off of her and gave me her honest opinion. She helped me put together my shot list in an organized, realistic manner to ensure the day-of photos ran smoothly. Her communication is superb and her response time made me wonder if she was superhuman.
Flash forward to the wedding day - what a dream of a photography team. The three ladies were beyond incredible. Everyone was punctual, professional and prepared. They made taking photos painless and were beyond efficient, despite cold and rainy weather. I was able to get not only all of the photos on my shot list, but also all the photos on my extra wish list as well. Zachera was so prepared and even had ginger snaps for me when I was feeling nauseous after the trolley ride. Just beyond incredible.
Within days of the wedding, we had a massive preview album of GORGEOUS photos. Within weeks of the wedding, we had our full album. Again - I was questioning if she was superhuman. The turnaround time was just unreal and more than I could have ever asked for. The photos are just stunning and I have had so many people reaching out about the incredible quality of the photos. Many people have told me that they have never seen photos this amazing and commented on how incredible my photographer is. You never would have known it was a cold and rainy day if it wasn't for our umbrellas in the shots. Zachera made a gloomy day turn into the dream backdrop for our wedding photos.
The only downside of working with Zachera is that you will miss her so much once you don't have an excuse to talk to her daily BUT you can always comment on every single insta story and photo she posts (definitely not speaking from experience here LOL) & her response time is just as incredible now that it's all over as the day it all began.

s just been the best. She is spunky and fun and creative and professional and literally just ALL the things! When we decided to postpone due to COVID, she was more than accommodating. She even sent us a little gift when COVID got really hard. It blew me away that she, as the vendor that was hit so hard during COVID, was sending US gifts. We had rain on our wedding day and my flowers leaked bright orange pollen down the front of my dress- I looked over and Zachera was plucking out those damn problem flowers for me. She bustled my dress when my bridesmaids couldn’t figure it out. She literally changed my shoes for me when my dress wouldn’t allow me to reach down to do it myself. She taught me how to carry my veil over my arm when I was walking so it wouldn’t get dirty. I could go on and on. Zachera is SO much more than a photographer. She was a true angel sent to us by the wedding gods. I have said many times that our wedding day would not have been even close to the same without her. Oh, and the PICTURES are everything! We had the pleasure of having her with us for 3 days over the course of our wedding weekend and she did not disappoint! Before our wedding date, she worked with us to find the perfect locations for wedding party photos as well as back up locations. She carries herself in such a calm and reassuring manor to really help calm any nerves and just make everything feel so perfect! Even throughout our wedding weekend, she made sure to communicate with us, so that we got everything we wanted and she didn't miss any shots. Her guidance for posing was also very helpful. It made our bridal party and all of our family feel very natural with our photos. Zachera's entire team made our wedding photos so fun and memorable. Even when we got to a photo location that was crowded with other bridal parties, Zachera was so calm and reassuring we would have plenty of time to get the perfect shots we needed. I cannot say enough amazing things about Zachera and her team! To top it all off, she was so quick to get us a sneak peak the next week then get our full photo album WAY sooner than we were expecting! All of our photos turned out beautifully. I think most couples today find most important -- engagement session, 2 photographers at the wedding, and full access to digital files. When it came to working with Zachera, she was fantastic. She made my husband and I (we normally hate having pictures taken) feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I'm not exaggerating when I say that anyone who had a picture taken during our wedding weekend said, 'who is your photographer? She is AMAZING.' It was so unusual! And then when the pictures came out, I had people left and right asking who did them - one of my bridesmaids has already hired Zachera for her wedding!
