ctual disaster, so Zai grabbed a comb and fully redid my hair. How many photographers you know who are that hands on?! There was so much laughter that day, I remember turning to my partner and both of us letting out a huge sigh of relief as we knew we’d be taken care of on our big day. Sure enough, Zai walked into the door on wedding day with the best energy (and sparkly jumpsuit). She made sure to rub my scented oil on me several times so I locked in the sense memory and reminded both of us to be in the moment in the most beautiful way. Even as tons of family members started to gather during our first look, it felt like we were in our own little bubble and the photos absolutely convey that. We are so blown away by her eye, her attention to detail, light chasing ability, editorial story telling, moment capturing, and best of all, her beautiful spirit. Your wedding photos are the best investment you can make for your big day, and I cannot recommend Zai highly enough.

We were nervous and she made our session super comfortable and fun that at times we forgot that we were being photographed. e photos they’ve seen so far from Zai. My husband and I are so happy we chose to work with her. She was an absolute pleasure to have at the wedding. We had a “big fat Indian wedding” with 3 events and Zai was at all of them. When I got a bit stressed out, Zai's calm demeanor helped to calm me down. She also worked well with the chaos and with guests who decided to also bring their pro cameras and ignore the “unplugged ceremony” sign.
Zai expressed to us that she felt touched seeing our family and friends spend time learning and performing dances for us at our sangeet. It not only brought us to tears realizing that we felt so loved, but it also brought Zai to tears. Which we both found so special that she was able to enjoy that moment with us, our family, and friends. Zai is not just a photographer, but a lifelong friend to us, after all she did just experience the most important (and best) weekend of our lives. On our wedding day, I was stuck in a dissociative state going into power save mode to avoid stress. I came to when I saw Zai walking toward me with open arms to give me the warmest hug. I don’t mean to sound lame, but I teared up with joy and instantly knew everything was going to be okay. She immediately got to work and orchestrated the party throughout the day’s timeline. She carried herself so well despite how many mosquitoes had been out. That didn’t stop her from doing her work and making magic happen. She really is the best. r wedding day. First, the quality and style of her photos are objectively beautiful, she has a way of capturing feelings and telling a story through her lens. Second, Zai is extremely prepared ahead of the occasion (probably the most prepared of all the vendors), which shows her professionalism. Third, and likely most important here, Zai listens to you and you and delivers (we spent less than 10 minutes on family photos). Pictures and videography are (in my opinion) the most important piece from a wedding because they’ll last forever. My husband and I are so glad we found Zai who captured our most special moments on our wedding day, and we can’t wait for another occasion so that Zai can tell it through her lens again!

all at the same time. Having a shoot with her literally feels like hanging out with your friend who just happens to have a camera. As a matter of fact, true story, our wedding guests didn’t even realize she was the photographer, they all thought she was another wedding gust with a dope camera and being that “extra” person that’s all up in the kool-aid lol, she even makes your guests and wedding party feel at ease! Her finesse with the camera is so incredibly natural and she makes it fun and easy no matter how awkward you might feel going into it, she is like a breath of fresh air and takes that anxiety away effortlessly. The next thing you know the shoot is over and you’re left feeling like “wow that was so fun, I don’t want it to be over!” And then you get your gallery and you’re shook, like “wait.. what.. that’s us? But when did we become models?” And then you cry tears of joy because of how in love you are with the photos and how beautifully she captured the most special moments of your life.
I think one of my favorite things is her inspiration and vision, her ability to see the magic before she even shoots it. I remember being so worried about my venue because I felt like there were no “pretty” places to take pictures outside.. we walked down to a random graffiti filled ally a block away from our venue, she saw a dirty motorcycle parked on the side of the road and told us to pose.. it’s literally one of our favorite wedding photos. You can 100% trust her vision and be confident that it will turn out amazing!
Her style is so organic, magical, romantic, detailed and timeless. We will be cherishing our photos forever and cannot wait for Zai to continue to document our family as we evolve over the years.

all the moments leading up to it, or forming a deep, personal connection with your wedding photographer that you will cherish for the rest of your lives, and probably continue to find reasons for her to take photos of you.... this ain’t your gal. She’s way too good for you.
There’s a reason Zai’s photos come out amazing each and every time - she truly cares. Anyone can glance at her and see she is passionate about what she does, and she radiates her passion spectacularly at every event. We were able to do an engagement session with Zai prior to our wedding, and I took that as an opportunity to get to know her and see if we would “click”. Clicked is probably an understatement. Our engagement session was at the fair, and my husband and I felt like we were there with a life-long friend. We shared food, rode rides together, and she made us feel so incredibly comfortable behind the camera. She knew exactly what to say to get us to let loose and yield beautiful pictures that truly showcased how much fun we were having with each other. Then, in the weeks leading up to the wedding she helped in any way she could, was actually begging for pictures of my dress when I bought it, and graced me with a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. meme or two lol. The entire time, she just kept saying “I can’t wait to see you both get married.” And you could tell she really meant it.
On the day, before she even got to work she gave me a much-needed and long-awaited hug, and having her there was like having another bridesmaid join the party. She got me comfortable enough to take some snazzy pics of me before I put on my dress.... which is saying a lot because I can be incredibly insecure. Right before my ceremony, she could sense how nervous I was and did breathing exercises with me, which I don’t even think she knew how much I really needed.
We received our gallery a few short weeks ago, and I’ve seen the whole thing from start to finish just about 100 times now. Yet every time I see another picture, I find one more new detail I hadn’t seen in the last. Somehow she was able to capture not only the pictures every bride wants to see on their wedding day, but also the ones you’d think no one was watching you for. She captured the joy, laughter, tears, and insurmountable love from all our family and friends. She didn’t miss a beat. I don’t know how she does it, but I do know that I can’t wait for Christmas cards, babies, and everything in between because I have someone who deeply cares about my family and I to capture it all. untain shoot, but on the day of, we tried to drive to our shoot location and were turned around by park service. Zai was super quick to troubleshoot and find a new location for us to do our engagement photos! I honestly have no idea how she found the spot she did, but it was absolutely perfect and magical.
During our shoot, Zai made us feel completely comfortable and at ease. Zai has a presence that makes you feel like you’ve known her your whole life—like she’s a friend trying to capture you at your best, which helped us feel less anxious throughout the shoot. My partner and I had never taken professional photos before, and were honestly VERY nervous, but Zai directed us on posing and gave us prompts to make us feel more comfortable. We left our session saying how excited, thankful, and happy we were to have her as our wedding photographer!

This wasn't just wedding photos. It was experiencing every moment organically while witnessing an incredible artist at work. It was personal attention to detail, timing, spontaneous inspiration with every click, paying attention to the precious moments most people don't even notice (the ones that truly matter) while checking off every box of the non-negotiable photos. It was professionalism, warmth, and amazing teaser photos THE NEXT DAY. It was being told "yes, absolutely" with a smile when we asked her last minute to extend the shoot for an hour. It was patience, grace and humor with 5 kids under 7. Not only does Zai have an incredible way with people, but her eye is meticulous and romantic. Of course when you book a photographer for your wedding, you are hoping for those gorgeous shots that capture every special person and every special moment. But Zai brought to the table what my husband and I didn't even know we wanted. She remembered every detail and hustled me along with such warm professionalism when my bride brain was all over the place and running behind. Zai and her second shooter went above and beyond to make sure not only the pictures were perfect, but that our experience taking pictures was epic. We had a blast and were so grateful for her. When the pandemic hit, she spent almost an hour with me on the phone trouble shooting, offering guidance and suggestions. I cannot recommend this photographer enough. She even offered me something to drink while I was being swamped by guests and always checked in to make sure I was doing well. It’s hard to remember parts of the wedding, like the ceremony because of how fast it goes by and the emotion of it but I’m grateful she captured it all and I can relive it forever. It rained on our wedding day and our DJ got in a car accident on his way to the venue. Everything worked out in the end but I can't tell you how Zai's presence made me feel more at ease. I didn't know for sure that things would work out then but I was reassured that no matter what happens our photos will look amazing. Zai was so confident and chill through it all, asked me if I needed a drink more than my catering crew and fought off my day-of planner's bad ideas so I didn't have to. When I contacted her for our Elopement/vow reading pics, I didn’t know where to begin with any of it- not the location, color scheme, etc- the only thing I knew for sure is that I wanted HER to capture it all and that I was going for a boho look. I had followed her for a while and loved the genuinely candid and natural pictures she took of all her clients, nose wrinkles and all. She immediately replied with the suggestion to do it at Lake Tahoe. We looked it up and were sold, and we booked her right then and there. She pretty much planned the entire thing (including engagement pics). She took the time to get to know us to plan everything and made us feel extremely comfortable; we trust her and her vision explicitly. She planned our engagement pics in a place we would have never thought of (the rooftop of a garage) and ended up loving! Don’t even get me started on our Elopement pics. She helped us plan and find everything from flights, lodging, color scheme, florist, makeup artist, calligrapher and more. Every question or concern I sent her way she replied with a solution or a reassurance. I am incredibly grateful to her for taking care of everything so we didn’t have much (if anything) to worry about . Once there, she kept us on schedule in order to capture what we planned, an Elopement on top of a waterfall at sunrise...and it was SPECTACULAR! Although, we had a slight oops (in our excitement to get there before sunrise we forgot the bouquet and didn’t notice until we were done at the waterfalls LOL), she completely made up for it by suggesting a mini shoot in the middle of the woods behind our cabin which was MAGICAL! We will be using her for years to come to capture all of our precious moments and cannot recommend her enough! We sing her praises to everyone we know, not only because of the actual finished product, but because of her work ethic and her as a person. We wanted our engagement pictures somewhere special that meant something to my husband and I, so we picked Bimini. Zai did not hesitate when we asked her to do our shoot there. She truly knows how to make you feel comfortable during shoots as if you’ve been friends your whole life. Awkwardness does not exist with Zai! So don’t even worry if you’re even a bit camera shy. She is hilarious and so adventurous ! Not only was this a business trip for her but we had SO much fun getting to know each other and exploring the island.

nd I had to have a good photographer when we said 'I do.' After speaking to a handful of photographers, Zai stuck out. It was clear to me she had a passion for the casual, intimate and romantic ‘feels’ elopements have to offer. I had ideas in mind, but no idea where to start. With so much to do, I started to question whether or not I could do this alone and as fast as I was wanting! After hanging up the phone on our first phone call, my anxiety was gone. Zai was SO experienced and even more professional. I immediately felt like I had made a new friend. We talked all things wedding; dresses, styles, locations, officiants… she had so much knowledge! She either had the experience, or was willing roll with the punches alongside me! Needless to say, everything fell right into place. It was the easiest, most exciting thing I’ve ever planned. When the day finally came, we all met up at 4am and started our trek out into 30 degree weather to find the perfect cliff! Her excitement only enhanced ours. nt pictures - which we had to reschedule twice because it was pouring outisde. She was patient and worked with us to figure out other dates. She also endulged us by taking our pictures very soon after sunrise, like I wanted. The pictures came out impressively gorgeous.
Then she took our weeding pictures. She was ablento capture beautiful moments during the reception without making us stop everything to pose every time. We did pose for the portraits at the church; but that, i think, is a must. The wedding pictures were outstanding and I just can’t stop looking at them!
She gives you all the pictures on a web link as well as a usb and you can choose which, how, and when to print them.

ause our little boy was sick , Zai was more than flexible in rescheduling. She made our photo session fun and I did not feel as anxious as I usually would in that type of setting. I love all the photos, the only downside is that I can't possibly choose between all the wonderful shots. She is genuine and I would use her again if I could relive our wedding day.

The short version:
Zai agreed to shoot our elopement on Dec 18 2...
017 in Asheville, NC. The trip ended up being way out of budget and we communicated that to our wedding planner via phone. Zai refused to come do the shoot in Miami in the courthouse instead and said she was “not willing to schedule any other dates” and we could purchase another shoot if we wished on different dates. We told her we had already requested PTO for the 18th and pleaded with her to take the photos in Miami. We were already out $600 and just wanted photos of our special day. Instead she responded two days later and said she booked another client free of charge and refunded our money. I could not find another photographer in such short notice during busy season for our actual wedding day. That being said, I cannot in good faith recommend such an unprofessional, self righteous, inflexible photographer to anyone because it truly is such a special moment that should not be taken away from anyone.
Extended version:
I paid for both she and the wedding planners flights for the NC engagement. The wedding planner and Zai actually asked me to book the flight for an extra night so they could take a mini vacation to Asheville. I agreed without issue because we were all going to do the shoot Monday the 18th at 6AM. After cancelling with the planner via phone, the planner sent an email to all parties involved stating the shoot was canceled. Zai wrote in an email a day or two later that she was upset that we didn’t contact her directly about it. For the record: I pay my wedding planner so she can communicate with my vendors for me… that includes the photographer. So if I tell my planner I’m cancelling the shoot, and she sends the photographer an email about it… I don’t really see the issue with that. Regardless, Zai was upset we cancelled her little vacation and said in her email
“Because I set apart four days on my calendar during busy season for your complimentary elopement photography, I am not willing to set aside any other dates for a complimentary engagement session - I'm sorry. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. You of course are welcome to purchase an engagement session with me at your own discretion.”
What four days?! It was one day… Monday the 18th but whatever. Fine, FOUR days it is. I asked her the following not even 2 hours later:
“Just to clarify, which four days are still set apart for the complimentary engagement session?”
She took two days to respond, only responded after my husband sent a follow-up email, blamed us for the lack of communication and then went on to say she booked someone else. Oh and this was a week before the 18th. So of course I couldn't find another photographer in time.

Susie unfortunately became the first and hopefully only client with whom I cancelled a contract with (6 months before the wedding she hired me for) because 1. She became extremely disrespectful toward me (screaming on the phone and name-calling...
, as you can see in her review) and 2. Susie expected me to photograph, at no extra charge, her courthouse wedding in December (prior to the actual wedding day she hired me for on May 12).
More on what happened: Every wedding client of mine gets a complimentary 1-hour engagement session once they book with me. Susie requested to exchange that free 1-hour engagement session for free elopement coverage because she and her fiance wanted to elope in December before the May wedding they hired me for. Although I generally never exchange complimentary engagement sessions for anything else, I agreed to do this because I would have loved a mountain elopement in my portfolio. So I did offer to shoot this elopement for free because it would benefit both of us.
We spent months planning her elopement and I took the role of planner as I searched for the right spot for her elopement, called parks, and even sent her a list of places she and her fiance could stay at. She booked my flight and I made arrangements for this trip, such as clearing my schedule for three days during busy season due to traveling, boarding my pets, etc. A handful of days before the trip, Susie cancelled everything due to being overwhelmingly stressed, received a refund for my flight that she had booked, and did not let me know of the change. I came to find out the next day via her wedding planner. Although I was disappointed by the turn of events, I reached out to Susie 2 days later after not hearing from her about the cancellation, and said I would be happy to have the engagement session on 1 of the days in which we were supposed to be in North Carolina, and that I had booked work for the other days to make up for the loss of work I had been sacrificing for the trip. Susie then requested that I actually photograph her courthouse vow exchange (rather than an engagement session) on a specific date that I had already booked work for. After a back and forth in which I explained that I never agreed to photograph her courthouse wedding at no cost, and that we could do an engagement session on one of those dates others she could book another date for my engagement session fee, etc., I went with my instincts and told Susie I did not feel I was a right match for her. I offered to refund 100% of the retainer fee she had paid, but also told her that if she wanted to talk things out, I was open to that as well. She requested to cancel our contract, I refunded her money and tried to end on a positive not, and Susie proceeded to harass me with extremely disrespectful emails and a continuation of the name-calling. She also bashed me on the Internet with a story that omits many of the facts. I am regretful that this occurred, but I am so much more grateful now for the wonderful, down-to-earth, amazing clients I do have.
Zai is an amazing photographer. She is very accommodating and professional. She did our engagement photos with our dog and can’t wait for her to capture our wedding in a few months.
