We had our wedding at the Zigbone Farm Retreat and it could not have been more perfect. The grounds were stunning. It is so clear that the women running it care deeply about their property and take pride in making it nice and unique. There were enough rooms for our entire family. The event space was even better than I could have imagined for our wedding and just beautiful in every way. The owners were lovely to work with and extremely kind and accommodating. Would HIGHLY recommend for any event or even just a getaway with a large group of family/friends. Our family and guests adored it. We will certainly be back!

From the very beginning, Marijke was instrumental in creating a seamless and unforgettable experience for the couple and our families. She guided us through everything - from recommending fantastic local vendors (special shout-out to Brothers Pizza for the rehearsal dinner, Mr. Garcia knows his stuff), to patiently answering all our questions and providing thoughtful advice on staging the reception. Her reassurance was much appreciated, especially since this was the first wedding for both sets of parents!
We booked the venue from Friday to Sunday, and having the entire wedding party stay onsite made the whole weekend feel cozy and relaxed. We had full use of the kitchen for the rehearsal dinner, which made everything convenient and stress-free.
The reception space is stunning - chandeliers hanging from the rafters give it a rustic elegance that requires minimal decorating. There is a European countryside charm that the couple immediately fell in love with. Throughout the venue, you’ll find Marijke’s artwork, which adds a personal and artistic touch to the space. She’s an incredibly talented artist, and her work gives the venue unique warmth and personality. The venue truly speaks for itself.

Surrounded by the breathtaking rolling hills and valleys of the Catoctin Mountains and only an hour's drive from Washington, DC, it is a wondrous escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. In 2009, the Torfs-Leibman family bought the property with a vision of converting it into a working farm and nature-inspired retreat for all kinds of celebrations. Nowadays, guests have called it the most magical place to host their dream fairytale wedding.
Zigbone Farm Retreat boasts 100 acres of farmland and naturally restored venue spaces for you to choose from. Whether you'd prefer an indoor or outdoor celebration of up to 150 guests, they will help you find the perfect backdrop to match. You and your partner can tie the knot, encompassed by wisteria-covered stone terraces, aged stone walls, timbered patios, or whimsical, vibrant gardens. For an evening of dining and dancing, everyone can make their way to the Event Hall with an attached wooden-beamed outdoor pavilion. At the end of the night, you, your partner, and 23 other guests can go to the three-story Zigbone Eco-Lodge for overnight accommodations. It is completed with a large kitchen and dining room for rehearsal dinners, hardwood flooring, and bedrooms filled with plenty of natural light.

We are Marijke Torfs and Dena Leibman, a couple for more than 30 years, and our two daughters, Camille and Antonia. Marijke and Dena are both former nonprofit executives and have renovated four different properties over the years, the last being ZigBone Farm Retreat. ZigBone is providing ample opportunities to indulge our natural building addiction and need to have hands in the soil growing things. We have worked to make ZigBone a one-of-a-kind, stunnng, and eco-friendly venue for celebrations and advancing nonprofit missions, personal wellness, and the work of artists and writers.
