National Dance Clubs, Belle Meade

Rachel and the entire group of instructors from NDC, Belle Meade are beyond amazing! I grew up dancing competitively, but I never took ballroom dance and my husband had no dance experience at all. We had so much fun learning the different styles of ballroom dance and perfecting them. We picked out a first dance song and brought it up to our instructor, she helped us design a dance that would work with the music, while still being authentic and not too choreographed. We told her what we thought we were interested in doing for our dance and the feel we wanted for it, as well as how we wanted to end it and she helped us design our perfect dance! We received so many compliments on our first dance, everyone was amazed by it. My husband and I wanted to end our first dance with a dip. At one point during our lessons, my husband and I were struggling getting the dip we originally planned on doing. Rachel got one of the other instructors (whose speciality is dips) to help us with it. He ended up changing a few of the things around and it helped us get the move perfectly! On top of that, I think dancing helped us grow closer as a couple. Not only were we learning something new together, and had some built in date nights dancing to live and recorded music at the studio, we also developed a deeper connection by needing to be in sync with each other while dancing so that we could lead and follow flawlessly. I would totally recommend NDC to any bride/groom to be who is looking to wow with their first dance! Also, my advice is to start early. We began our lessons around 8-9 months before our wedding day, with lessons almost each week to twice a week. It’s definitely a commitment, but it’s totally worth it and you can use it for the rest of your life together!
