I don’t have enough words to thank Aileen Roxane Villar, the Venue Manager for Joy Wallace, in charge of Douglas Entrance the Venue. Everything was beyond my dreams. The food was spectacular. There is not one guest that didn’t say that. The staff blew my mind, their kindness and how they always had a smile on their faced made Us and our Guests feel welcome.
She is very professional, easy to work with and was so patient throughout all the planning and executing. Always willing to help and explain everything to us as many times as needed. She worked with our wedding planner, and both, with their magnificent staff, put together something magical.
Douglas Entrance is a gorgeous venue and was the perfect backdrop to our event. It is truly a hidden gem in Coral Gables!
From my first interaction with the A Joy Wallace team, the Douglas Entrance venue stood out far beyond all others I was considering for our wedding. The venue manager, Aileen, was quick to respond to my initial request for information and offered transparent pricing options for different packages. I fell in love with this historic venue after my first tour, and was fortunate enough to work with such an organized and reliable team, led by Aileen, to plan our wedding in very short (4 months) notice.
They were exceptionally patient and adaptable, accommodating almost all of my “untraditional” requests for a very Venezuelan wedding. I was so happy with the food on the day of our tasting, and it was even better the day of. Execution was flawless from beginning to end, which I never doubted for a moment before the wedding. I always felt full confidence in the team, which is extremely prepared, knowledgeable and professional. Thank you for bringing my vision to life and for a spectacular night we will never forget!
The location is great. You have an outside courtyard with a gorgeous fountain and the grand ballroom is stunning. The new management team is awesome. Aileen was very helpful and paid attention to every detail. Their menu selection is amazing you can't go wrong with their menu options. I highly recommend Douglas Entrance Ballroom for your next event.
My husband and I had our wedding reception here 16 years ago. People still talk about our wedding and how gorgeous the reception was. I got the best pictures too.
Amazing venue, beautiful, spacious and very elegant! The manager Raul is very professional and courteous.
When i first went to the venue and met with Raul i feel in love with the venue. As we were reaching up to our wedding day Raul was answering my emails very quickly but the week before my wedding i wanted to confirm that he would have the a/c running at 8 am since my bridal party and myself will be getting ready there as He promised it would be, i never received a response to confirm. Fast forward to wedding day, the a/c in the whole building wasn’t on. My mother went to the security office and the management team on site completely ignored her and her request for the a/c to be turned on. So, therefore my father went to ask them and the maintenance team told him it was on a timer for 9 am (mind you hair and makeup was starting at 8) as we showed them proof of the email from Raul and a very long conversation later they told us “to go have fun” . I tried to reach out to Raul via email (since there isn’t any other contact information for him) and still haven’t heard a response back about the situation (it’s been three weeks since my wedding). Lastly there was an on-site supervisor who appeared sometime before cocktail hour who was also not friendly to my wedding planner after showing proof of another email from Raul (which he called him and was told that there was no recollection of what we had email proof stating from him).
Overall, thankfully to the amazing team of vendors, my family and bridal party my actually wedding and reception was beyond beautiful. The venue itself was a breathtaking backdrop and has so much potential to be a well known place in Miami for Events. Hopefully, no one has to experience such rude behavior the morning of their wedding as i had to deal with. The only thing i would of change during my experience was getting ready at another location.
I booked this location for my wedding. The entire experience was a breeze, management was responsive and the location was beautiful. The weather was good enough (in May!) to have the ceremony in front of the fountain and it came out amazing.
Now, the reason for only 3 stars:
1 star knocked off:
The location advertises that it has a capacity of 200 people. There is NO way that this could happen. MAYBE if it was standing room only--but definitely not with tables. I had 160 guests and it was a bit tight. So tight that half of one table had to stand in order for the bridal party, the groom and myself to make our way to the dance floor for our entrance. That was kind of embarrassing but it didn't ruin the night... I would say an ideal number would be NO MORE than 150.
2nd star knocked off:
We rented the mahogany chairs and cushions from the Douglas Entrance. THANK GOODNESS my florist pays attention to detail. The cushions were FILTHY. Some even had mold on them. DISGUSTING. My father called management and requested they change all the cushions, which they did replace.. otherwise this would have a much lower star rating.
So if you are planning to book or have already booked keep in mind: try to keep under 150. 160 WAS doable but again, just a smidge too tight. And 2, if you are renting chairs, make sure to have someone inspect them for you on the day of the wedding.
Otherwise, everything went off without a hitch and we were happy with our experience.
This was a bit tricky when planning my wedding. I wanted a place that would let me decorate as I wished and use my own vendors. Luckily I found this place, Raul was great and it includes free parking for your guests.
The venue has its years, few things they need to remodel like the dance floor and the kitchen. But other than that my wedding came out beautiful.
This venue is so beautiful and perfect for transitional, glamours weddings! My wedding theme was vintage glam and this venue matched perfectly. The space included the reception inside, cocktail hour outside with a beautiful water fountain, and wedding party room. The reception space is big enough for 250 however my wedding was about 110 and we were comfortable with enough space to dance, move around, have a photo booth, coffee station, bar, and midnight snack station.
What I loved about this venue is that everything is yours on the day of and you don't share the venue with any other weddings.
This venue is truly a castle! With stair cases, decor, and chandeliers galore.
If I had to say a downfall it would be that the catering would have to be sent in because they don't have a kitchen.
Beautiful place to celebrate your wedding though!
We had our wedding at the Douglas Entrance and it was amazing. Their pricing varies depending on the month and time of year. So be sure to get the price for the specific weekend/day you are interested in. Raul was always very quick to call you back and give you whatever information you need. The space is huge and unique. The ceiling is gorgeous. The layout is perfect. The fountain outside is beautiful at night! So many beautiful spots to take pictures! Best part is that you have the entire location to yourself. You don't have to worry about sharing the space with another wedding. Parking is included and there is plenty of space.
This venue was fantastic!! If you like old romantic vintage charm, this is the place!! It is beautiful with high ceilings and fits many guests without feelings crammed.
This was a Picture Perfect Venue location. Beautiful and Old World. Lovely!
This place is amazing. We were able to get ready there and take great photos. The fountain was a gorgeous backdrop to our ceremony.
We had our wedding at Douglas Entrance this past March. We couldn't have asked for more. Everything was gorgeous! We had the ceremony outside, along with the cocktail hour. The reception was in the ballroom upstairs. The people at Douglas were wonderful. They were patient and they had answers to all our questions. This day was perfect, and we must thank Douglas Entrance for this.
Lizette and Ariel
Beautiful venue. Working with Raul was lovely. Such a nice and patient man. Leading up to the wedding, I emailed him almost every week with so many questions ( I was a nervous wreck!), and he always responded so quickly & nicely. The venue itself is gorgeous. The staircase, the ball room, the fountain..breathtaking. They have a bridal room which is a plus. Beautiful venue at a reasonable price.
The Douglas Entrance is a historic site in Coral Gables Fl. It has the grand ballroom with magnificent ceilings and large lite fountain out front in the center of the plaza that can even play music! The setting was a perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception. The only reason it didn't get 5 out or 5 starts is that you cant have your rehearsal there since you only book it for your special day. Plan in advance the weekend dates go really fast.
Douglas Entrance is a beutiful location. Raul is the sweetest. My cocktail hour was in the outside by the fountain but if it rains they also have an inside terrace where it can be located. The ballroom is in the third floor. It has beautiful ceiling architecture and spacious. It has another room where ceremonies are sometimes held.
This was the perfect venue for our spring nuptials, which we used for both our outdoor ceremony and reception. Raul, the venue coordinator is amazing and made himself available to answer all our questions and concerns. The natural beauty of this hidden, historic landmark is reminiscent of a castle and inspired many of our best photos (high, vaulted ceilings, gorgeous staircase with the chandelier, outdoor fountain). The only caution is with regard to space. Despite appearances and advertisement as a venue for up to 220, it was just short of tight for our 135 guests. And while an all in one shot is a dream, in terms of managing traffic, I would advice having the ceremony in a second location.
I got a lot of feedback on beautiful everyone thought my reception place was. Raul is great to work with and answers emails/phone calls right away.
Raul is really nice, he's very accomodating and you cant beat the price for what you're getting. I would recommend all brides go see this venue before they make a decision.
