We hosted our rehearsal dinner at this location. It was perfect. Carter and his team really made the night special.
We had a Christmas wedding this weekend at 10 Downing for our oldest daughter and it was seamless! Carter and his staff were top notch! Our guests, wedding party, and the bride and groom all had an amazing time! We couldn’t be more satisfied with the hospitality and experience and are grateful for finding this place!
We held our Rehearsal Dinner at 10 Downing (Churchills) and Carter was amazing in the planning and execution of our experience. The food and service was exceptional! The best part, Carter encouraged us to have a Welcome Party after the dinner and welcome all of our guests to mingle. That was AMAZING! It was nice that when wedding day came we already had the opportunity to welcome all of our guests / they all got to meet and we could just enjoy eachothers company!

Having our wedding at 10 downing was the best decision we made! Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely wonderful and Carter made sure we had no worries on our big day!
The venue manager Carter is phenomenal as is the entire team at 10 Downing! It is an incredible value for the price. Carter was always available and extremely responsive via phone or email. He handled everything with ease and made my wedding day exceptional, I couldn't have done it without him. I received comments from guests after the wedding stating, "best steak I've ever had!' and "the best bartenders ever!" You cannot go wrong booking this venue.
I could not have asked for a better venue! It was nothing short of perfect. Carter, the events manager, was attentive and answered all of my questions. The intimacy of the indoor space was perfect for our small wedding. We were also able to have exclusive use of the terrace, which gave an opportunity for a fantastic cocktail hour and party after the buffet!
10 Downing provided the food, as well. It was delicious! We had many compliments on the taste of the food and the service everyone received.
Carter was also accommodating when we had a small snafu with our AirBnb just upstairs from 10 Downing. We had to be out the day of the wedding instead of the next morning. We were supposed to have an intimate dinner in the AirBnb just after the ceremony. When we no longer had access to the AirBnb, Carter got us into their other event venue, The Cellar, to have our first intimate meal as husband and wife.

We booked 10 Downing and the rooftop for our wedding and the night couldn’t have been more perfect. Carter took over for Mark as the event manager and Carter was amazing to work with. He answered every email and put us as a wedding couple at ease and helped plan a perfect night. We ended up checking the venue out early since we are from out of town and got so the menu tasting - the food there is SO good! We had amazing bar service the night of the wedding and the wait staff was so kind. The room really transformed into a perfect wedding venue. We ended up having about 80 guests (the room fits 74 so if you need more room - book the rooftop terrace as well for seating outside). The dance floor and outside bar was so nice. I’d recommend Carter and his team to anyone. Definitely book if you have the room to accommodate !
Wow is the word I would use to describe 10 Downing. The food, decor, staff and location is second to none. We are from NJ and booked 10 Downing at the recommendation of our Wedding Planner. The venue was better than we had hoped. The room is plenty big enough for our party to have a long, beautiful "Harry Potter" style table with enough room for people to mingle and not be arm in arm bumping each other. It left enough room for a nice size dance floor as well. The open bar ran smoothly with drinks flowing all night. The staff was professional and managed to keep the flow of the cocktail hour, dinner and dessert perfect.
The venue is very unassuming and is quite rustic. We filled it with beautiful flowers and candles and it could not have been more beautiful

So grateful our wedding reception was at 10 Downing! We were lured to this place by the prime location, ambience, and delicious food, but we were swept away by the hospitality. During the planning months, they were available, responsive, and accommodating of our special requests. The staff was so friendly to our guests and attentive to the Bride and Groom. A special shout-out to the Events Manager, Carter. He helped my Groom pull together his decor vision and worked his butt off all day long. We couldn’t have picked a more idyllic location for our reception or a more incredible staff!

10 Downing is a gem of Savannah wedding venues. No other place we looked at was even close to as perfect as this venue. We had a very small wedding and the space worked great. In addition, I cannot say enough good things about Mark. "Mark is utterly phenomenal" per my husband. He was incredibly responsive to all calls/emails from the beginning and was the best the day of as well. The rest of the staff was on top of it and made our day great.

When I walked into the reception space on our wedding day, I had tears! I don't even know where to start because there is so much good to say . At first my now husband and I were not going to hire a wedding planner but thought twice and decided to hire mark and oh man are we glad we did. He was exceptional. He eased every worry, answered every question and gave us his personal opinions that were perfect. He kept us excited and motivated during the whole process . covid-19 left us uncertain and at times unmotivated about the wedding and mark turned all our worry and doubts around leaving us excited for our big day. He has a way of really making you feel special and it showed right from the beginning up untill the day of. The guests had nothing but great things to say about him and my husband and I felt the same. It's not everyday you find someone who is great at what they do and able to form a special connection with you and your guests. Mark you are truly exceptional and we cannot thank you enough for such a smooth flowing, fun wedding. The venue and the staff were fantastic! Don't think twice to hire him, he will truly make your experience nothing short of perfect !
I cannot begin to praise Mark and his team at 10 Downing enough. Incredible location, food, service...everything. The planning process was so easy that I don't even feel I did anything. First and foremost, we are from out of state. We found 10 Downing pre-COVID and were ecstatic that it offered SO MUCH! The plan was to visit at the end of March to check the place out and test the food options, but because of COVID we were never able to make it down. That would have made us extremely nervous if not for Mark Royston and his amazing team! He handled everything and made what could have been a very stressful and worrisome day into a dream. The place looked AMAZING, the food was DELICIOUS (everyone is still talking about it), and the team was thoughtful and stayed on top of everything to make our day memorable. I toured two venues prior to 10 Downing and was scheduled to tour one after. 10 Downing was the only venue both of my parents were able to tour with me and, before the end of it, my mom and I both looked at each other and said, "Let's book it!".
10 Downing has that classic Savannah charm and is a blank canvas for the romantic, intimate wedding of your dreams. I've seen so many pictures of weddings held here and no two are ever the same. The weathered wood floors, gorgeous tall windows overlooking Bay Street, cozy fireplace settings and beautiful antique bar areas all add to the elegance and uniqueness of the place.
We had a total of 79 guests confirmed but ended up with only about 65 total in attendance on the night of our wedding. The space was perfect! I wouldn't recommend any more if you're looking for a seated dinner with sweetheart and cake tables, though. Having prepared for 79 guests, we took up every inch of the room but were all very comfortable. We also had the rooftop terrace reserved which could provide additional seating but we didn't want to separate our guests. We loved being able to eat, drink and be merry with all of our loved ones gathered together. The terrace was the perfect setting for our cocktail hour and reception, however. Having the extra bar allowed drinks to keep flowing without our guests missing too much time on the dance floor!
The staff was excellent, attending to our every need with anticipation and pleasure. Everything went off without a hitch (that we knew of). I'd be remiss though to end without mentioning that the events manager, Mark Royston, was the second most important determining factor in my mom and I falling in love with this space. His genuine love for all things weddings is apparent from first contact. His enthusiasm is infectious, his responses to all communications were prompt and he goes above and beyond to ensure your wedding is exactly what YOU want it to be. You can't go wrong with a wedding at 10 Downing but you'd truly be missing out to not also take advantage of booking Mark and his equally amazing wife, Meg, to be your day of coordinators (at a generous discount!). My husband and I were married on November 16, 2019, the day of the epic down pour, and have nothing but wonderful memories of our day thanks to the hard work Meg and Mark put in behind the scenes. Mark facilitated securing tents for the terrace the morning of and communicated with all of the vendors (and immediate family!) regarding back up plans as well as rearranging timelines. Meg was my right hand woman, in addition to my sisters, and helped keep me together during the night. They're an absolute dream team. I'd recommend 10 Downing and Elegant Savannah Weddings to any and every one!
I should have done a review sooner but better late than never! We got married May 4th 2019. This venue was and Mark were an absolute pleasure to work with. Coming from out of state you don’t always know what to expect but I have zero complaints. My husband and I had a great experience! Everyone comments to this day how much they loved our wedding. We booked our reception at the Wine Cellar at Churchill's and I cannot recommend it enough! Everything from the pricing, to the food, to the look of the venue was wonderful! Planning our event was made so simple because the staff at Churchill's, especially Mark, are so knowledgeable and very good at what they do! I highly recommend looking into this venue for your event!

Booking this venue was the BEST decision we made. We booked sight unseen from Omaha, Nebraska. We saw it for the first time the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding and the place looks EXACTLY like the photos. We ended up booking both the indoor space and the rooftop terrace and the amount of space this provided for our guests was perfect. Mark was a dream to work with both before and during the wedding. He responded to emails quickly and was always available to happily answer every question we had. We ended up booking him as our day of coordinator and I feel we more than got our money's worth. He is very talented at event coordinating and made everyone feel relaxed, welcome, and important. If you are planning a small wedding I highly recommend this space. Good food, beautiful atmosphere, and great service.
As seems to be the trend, we cannot say enough good things about the venue and about Mark.
We had a somewhat complicated engagement including planning initially from Florida and then moving across the country about six months before the wedding so I could begin PhD training. We also wanted a relatively small wedding that would be fun and memorable without going into debt.
10 Downing was definitely an amazing value. It was so much less expensive than everywhere else we had looked in Savannah and, as long-time patrons of Churchill’s, we knew the food would be great (one of our main priorities!). Unlike with many other venues and caterers, as a vegetarian bride I felt like more than an afterthought when it came to food. Most other places didn’t have any examples of vegetarian entrees and had very limited suggestions when it came to custom menus. Mark, a fellow vegetarian, helped me to craft the perfect menu that included both veggie and non-veggie options for our guests. I loved the flexibility of the food options and we had an out of this world tasting before we moved that was well worth the cost.
Mark was extremely helpful all along the way. He would promptly respond to all of my detailed questions via email and really helped us sort out all of the details of the big day. I never grew up dreaming of my perfect wedding and didn’t know where to start when it came to most things. I do not think it would be too much to say that I wouldn’t have even had a wedding if we hadn’t met Mark and found this venue.
The venue is beautiful and classy and there is so much flexibility in almost everything that it was possible to plan a perfect wedding that truly reflected my husband and my personalities. It was such a fun wedding and our friends and family can’t stop talking about it. Definitely worth the headache of planning.
Also, you should get the whipped feta and grilled ciabatta as part of your menu. It is unreal.
I used this venue for my daughter's wedding reception, and it was fantastic! I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Mark Royston to plan the event. From the time we booked, through having to change the date and plan a party in 2 months, his knowledge, accessibility and easy manner made my job so much easier. The room itself and the terrace outside were perfect for our event. I would recommend this venue (and Mark) to anyone looking for a place in Savannah.
Highly recommend this venue!! Mark was fantastic to work with. He helped us out through the entire process. Because this was a destination wedding, we only saw the venue once. He provided us with detailed measurements and photos so our decorations would fit perfectly and was quick with responding to emails. The food was delicious, especially the red wine braised short ribs! Definitely use Mark and Meg's day of coordination. We had our ceremony and reception here and everything went smoothly the day of the wedding. Guest raved about it!!
I cannot recommend 10 Downing enough! We booked the venue for our small (fewer than 50 people) wedding (ceremony and reception) this past Saturday, and everything was perfect. The banquet manager, Mark, was professional, courteous, and enormously helpful throughout the entire planning process. The staff who worked the wedding also were fun, friendly, and professional. The food was amazing! Seriously, it was the best food I've ever had at a wedding. I highly recommend that you consider 10 Downing if you're looking for a lovely, well-managed, charming venue in Savannah.

Everything about my wedding turned out exactly how I could have ever imagined. It was a destination wedding, the prices are beyond reasonable! Venue/coordinators are so easy to work with and never even gave me room to stress.
I cannot say enough great things about 10 Downing and, especially, working with Mark Royston (the GM). Everything was seamless and easy from start to finish. The venue itself is beautiful, and we also rented out the rooftop terrace for the reception. Mark was an absolute joy to work with--he was responsive, easily accessible, detailed in all of his questions and answers, provided a ton of suggestions, etc. My husband and I were pretty clueless about what was required for our wedding, but he walked us through everything and made sure we had every detail nailed down. He was able to accommodate my request for pocket-fold napkins (which he apparently is going to do for all weddings now because it was so cute!), helped us customize our signature cocktails, provided great suggestions for the food...I could really go on and on. Every aspect of the venue was perfect. If you are having a smaller wedding and want a beautiful, historic venue, consider Churchill's.

Mark was simply a dream to work with! The venue is gorgeous- just a touch of modern in a historic setting. It really would work well for any small wedding and the prices are honestly incredible. Marks expertise alone was well worth the cost, I can’t imagine having my wedding anywhere else!
10 Downing honestly made all of my wedding dreams come true - ACTUALLY Mark and Meg made my wedding dreams come true! They honestly made the wedding planning process seamless, enjoyable, and so easy. I planned my wedding from Minnesota and am so lucky to have had them on my team.
10 Downing is the most beautiful venue. We had our ceremony and reception here - we had 65 people and it was the perfect size. I'd highly recommend reserving the rooftop bar as well - the guests really loved having an outside option and it was perfect for cocktail hour.
Honestly every single one of my guests said that this was the best meal they had in Savannah and the best wedding food they'd ever had. We went with the family style option of shrimp and grits paired with NY Strip and both were just phenomenal.
Everyone says that something will go wrong on your wedding day, but that did not happen for me thanks to Mark and Meg. If something did go awry, it was taken care of before even noticed/not noticed at all. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend this venue!!
If Mark and Meg are not planning your wedding, why are you even getting married?! (OK, I suppose you can still get married, but you really should hire these two for your coordination!) Above and beyond doesn't even begin to describe how much help they were, plus they are really nice and funny! Our ceremony at Reynolds Square was beautiful and everything went smoothly, and our reception in the ballroom and patio was lovely; the brick background on the patio was fantastic for photos. It's a perfect space for 50-75 guests (though it can hold more).
Everyone knows that food and drinks (along with dancing) are what really makes a wedding though, and I am glad to say that people are still talking about how much they loved the food 6 weeks after our wedding- and how much fun they had! I highly recommend doing a menu tasting before you make your food selections, as my husband and I had a great time doing so, and it really helped narrow down our choices. As for drinks, Mark was able to source a case of rose wine (not normally on the menu) and even some Scandinavian liquor so we could have a Swedish toast with my husband's relatives. No one was standing around waiting in line for a drink, and the bartenders were excellent.
I am so glad to have found 10 Downing for our wedding venue! It may be time to start planning a vow renewal just so that I can experience it all again! :)
My review is actually for Churchill's Winston Wine Cellar; another terrific venue space available that is actually downstairs from the restaurant's street level entrance. This venue was perfect for our 40 guests for our 'Wedding Eve Bash.' Mark, the manager, was more than accommodating, professional, and helpful in helping us build our menu and plan our dream evening out. The food set the bar quite high for the weekend and actually was the best dinner we experienced! You were allowed to bring in your own decor and choose your own bar plan as well which was really great in making the evening just the way we wanted it. Thank you Mark and your very friendly staff for a terrific dinner and excellent evening! I highly recommend this venue for its unique historic atmosphere and for the grand dining experience.

The staff is very well trained and go above and beyond to see to the guests needs. The food was to die for and our guests are still raving about it! Mark and team do an amazing job! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and staff. I was living out of state while wedding planning and Mark, the venue coordinator, along with his fantastic team, were there to help me every step of the way. They were quick to respond to emails, flexible with menu and decor options, and eager to lend a helping hand as the big day approached. Often when making wedding related decisions, I would ask Mark for his advice and 99% of the time that is what we chose because he is truly an expert in his field and knows a ton of tricks to ensure that things go beautifully. The night of the wedding, my husband and I were really able to relax and enjoy being with our families knowing that the staff at churchill's had everything under control in terms of serving, cleaning, and flipping the room. We had a ton of compliments from our guests about the waiters, bartenders, and other staff members, as well as the timing of the reception overall.
We did both our ceremony and reception in 10 Downing, the upstairs venue space. We also had a cocktail hour in the wine cellar basement while the staff flipped the upstairs room. We had about 75 guests which sat comfortably in the space and did the buffet style dinner which was incredible (guests raved about the food quality). We particularly loved the location of the venue and felt that it was a more than reasonable price to be in the heart of historic down town Savannah. Honestly, if you're having a Savannah wedding with less than 90 guests, this is the place to do it, hands down. You are in great hands with Mark and the event team at Churchill's!

10 Downing is a hidden gem downtown and a lovely spot to have a reception for your wedding, or any type of party really! We came across this location while checking out spots downtown, all of which were too big for our small wedding. We were already patrons of Churchill’s and when we realized they had a reception area upstairs we jumped at the chance to check it out. We truly loved how self-contained the space was; the private bar, kitchen and facilities meant our guests didn’t have to leave and cut through the restaurant. In the days leading up to the wedding there was a chance weather would affect our outside ceremony. It was such a relief knowing that we could have the ceremony at 10 Downing should Mother Nature not cooperate (which she did thank goodness!)
From the very first email with Mark I was immensely impressed and knew we had picked the perfect place for the reception. Through the whole process he was extremely patient as we emailed, called and sometimes just dropped by to ask questions or clarify items. He would meet with us before the restaurant opened and even allowed us to get in the night before to set everything up and come back the next day to pick everything up because of inclement weather the night before. Working with Mark was a blessing as he was just as organized as I was which made follow ups very smooth.
The food was absolutely outstanding! We didn’t do one of the dinners or buffet but opted to do dozens of different appetizers. This let our guests try all sorts of things like baked brie, five spice dumplings, and while keeping the chatting and party atmosphere going. Also being able to pick the bar selections helped us save a little bit of money while still having an open bar. The waitstaff seemed very nice and as soon as we walked into the reception one of the bartenders came right over to get us drinks which was fantastic!
We truly loved how perfect the size of the space was for our event and all the details as well – plantation shutters, wood floors, even the metal ceiling tiles added a classy touch to our soiree. I can't say enough great things about MARK! He was our contact through the entire process, and always responded so quickly to any questions. He was very detailed oriented, and made the planning process so easy for me. The space was beautiful, the food was amazing, but what really stood out to us was the service of Mark and all other staff!
The best part of 10 Downing as a wedding venue is not the beautiful room or the marvelous patio. It is not the delicious food or the delightful beverages. The best part is Mark. Don't get me wrong- all those other parts are important and incredible and truly made our reception great. But Mark is the best. To be blunt, he is the master of all things wedding reception and he is the reason our wedding ran so easy and pleasant. He was so good at responding quickly, throughout my wedding planning, and had great ideas on setting up and how to make the evening flow well. The reception is the best part for your guests and you want to make sure they have an amazing time- Mark can make that happen for you. We could not be happier with our choice of 10 Downing and we will be going back for some more food and drinks the next time we are in town.
We booked 10 Downing for our daughter's wedding reception venue and it was a wonderful decision. Mark was so easy to work with and very prompt in answering any questions we had prior to our arrival. It was difficult planning the wedding from several states away, but Mark made sure that everything ran smoothly for us. Once we arrived, the staff was very flexible and attentive. Our guests were impressed with the quality of the meal and the prompt service of the staff. We opted for a plated dinner and the courses were each delicious and served very efficiently. The room itself was beautiful and accommodated our 40 guests easily and still allowed for a small dance area. The staff offered to move tables for us to make more room, but our small group was fine without any furniture changes. At the end of the night, we were loading things up and staff of Churchill's (the downstairs pub) helped us carry things out. From start to finish the service was amazing. We highly recommend Ten Downing!!
Never have I worked with a better staff than at 10 Downing/Churchill's.
There are plenty of reviews about the actual venue space - how it's clean, simple, modern, and nicely organized. All of that is absolutely true in my experience.
However, the biggest highlight of working with this venue was the staff. Mark, the general manager, was extremely helpful, fast, experienced, professional, and communicative. Their options are very easy and up-front. The service staff is extraordinarily friendly and on top of things. Everyone there is more than happy to do whatever it takes to make your day as wonderful as they possibly can.
Beyond that, the food is amaaaazing. Our wedding guests are still talking about it a week later! Some of our friends and wedding party took extra trays of food with them to eat over the next few days they were in town.
Not to mention their price. For a 55-60 person wedding, our costs were right around $4000, and that included all decorations and dinnerware from the venue, all food, champagne toast, ceremony, the event space for as long as we wanted it, sound system, service staff, gratuity, tax, non-alcoholic drinks, appetizers, and even a few hundred extra that we threw in for alcohol and extra gratuity. Seriously, if you're looking for a small-ish wedding on a budget without sacrificing quality, this is absolutely the best venue to get it done in Savannah.
The location is just impossible to beat. We even managed to have a grand exit by lining our guests in the courtyard between Ruth's Chris and Cilantro's with sparklers, and us going through them into the Andaz.
Every single detail of this venue is incredible. I can't thank them enough for making our evening so amazing.
It was a pleasure working with Mark and his team. From the first visit everything was terrific. My daughter and Son In Law opted for the family style service for the food. The guest have not stopped raving about how good the food was and how much there was. the entire staff was very accommodating and pleasant.
We also reserved to outdoor bar area for guest to have more room to mingle so happy we did it was a great addition.
We booked our reception at 10 Downing from New York; Mark the general manager made the process extremely simple. He was extremely pleasant to work with and answered our numerous questions quickly: a real pleasure to work with.
During the actual reception, the staff was amazing and the food delicious!

10 Downing is the perfect place for a small wedding reception or party. The décor is clean and simple and contemporary, with the character of the old building highlighted. We had our wedding reception there and had 42 guests. Everyone fit comfortably. The food was excellent, we had the buffet menu 2 from their list of menus. The food was flavorful and plenty. Overall the service and the point of contact person is great. He is very responsive and assures that all of your questions get answered. I would highly recommend 10 Downing for a celebration spot.
I used 10 Downing for my rehearsal dinner. It is the upstairs banquet room of Churchill's. The room was simple and pretty with access to the outside patio. It had a gorgeous bar similar to that of downstairs Churchill's. The service was amazing. Mark Royston was helpful and prompt with his responses. The food was delicious and they have plenty of options to fit everyone for both food and bar. Linens are provided and included in the price. It was a great experience! They also have A/V equipment if you want to show a video or picture slideshow.
I can't say too many great things about this place!! Mark is the most amazing guy to work with. He had so many great suggestions about different table layouts and flow of the reception. The food was amazing!!!!! He even made my husband and me a special appetizer for just the two us us because he knew how much we loved it and wanted it- it wasn't even on their menu! He was so accommodating when it came to decorations. I was sad the night of the wedding because that meant that working with him was done.
The staff was fantastic! Very helpful and gracious. I wanted to hug every single one of them.
The room is simply gorgeous! It doesn't require too much decoration- its already perfect.
Perfect size for a smaller wedding- we did a sit down dinner for about 75.
