After we signed our contract, they even added a permanent roof over the back deck, which made the space even more beautiful and functional. The location couldn’t have been better for our out-of-town guests—everything was walkable, which was my goal. Another huge benefit was how much the venue included, which saved significantly on rental costs. The in-house catering was phenomenal. We chose stations, and the poke bar in particular got so many compliments from our guests. The beef tenderloin carving station was also delicious. The bartenders were great too. Guests said they were friendly and efficient. I have noticed this is not always the case. I really appreciated how professional all the staff was. All in all, 128 South exceeded our expectations and gave us the most amazing celebration.

the day of were on top of everything! We don’t regret a single thing. The only qualm we had was that there were a few expenses we were not aware of when we initially signed our contract. They don’t supply water glasses and they also require you rent lighting for their deck. However this in total did not add a significant amount to our bill so not a huge deal. The only other issue we had was that we were told we could seat our entire bridal party at one table but last minute were told we would need to move one person to a different table. This was likely a communication error on both ends but ended up working out. Other than this they were absolutely wonderful to work with and like I said, our day was perfect!

My mouth is literally watering writing this review... I’ve been to weddings where I was in the wedding party and unable to get any cocktail apps, and I’ve heard of brides and grooms not being able to get to eat the cocktail apps – I was worried about this but kept forgetting to voice that worry. Well with 128 South I didn’t need to worry, my entire wedding party was able to munch on some apps and they set aside a plateful for my husband and I; we were THRILLED! Another worry I had was a buffet option – again 128 didn’t disappoint. There was plenty of food for my guests (we even got leftovers – and they tasted amazing day after too), everyone raved about the taste, the options and the details. The temperature of the food was perfect and everything was cooked to perfection. I could not have asked for a better team or menu. Speaking of the team who pulled it together – WOW. From the initial emails with Jordan and Katie, to the phone calls they hopped on with me, to all my questions and changes with the packages, and to the team day of – these people did a fantastic job of making me and all of my guests feel like royalty. They made sure my husband and I had our plates first. Which we were thrilled about because it had been a long fun day. Each staff member was so kind, they were attentive, and willing to do whatever they needed to in order to make us happy – I literally didn’t have to tell anyone to get me anything, they just knew! It was incredible. They were organized, quick to clean up, and I received so many comments about how great the staff was!

stress free. I held a wedding party brunch at 128 South as well as my rehearsal dinner. They helped me reach my vision and were very flexible. In my experience, using vendors in the wedding industry most of them love to tell you “no” and also like to “nickel and dime” you at every turn, however the staff at 128 was full of ideas to help make my vision come true! They always gave me a, “Yes we can do that!” Davis and Jordan were who I interacted with most and they were the best! Justin took care of my rehearsal dinner and made my husband and I feel so special and made sure we had everything we needed. Can we just talk about the chef for a minute? We asked for some custom food items and he created them for us to taste. He nailed it! The food was so freaking good! People are still talking about it! Have every event at Bakery or 128! Catering on-site makes all of the difference!! I cannot recommend this place enough. I’m already thinking about calling them to set up a party for my 1 year anniversary!

Katie was our day-of coordinator and she made the place look beautiful with all of our decor and was on top of all vendors and last-minute communications. We also booked the Cottage on Orange Street to get ready the morning of, which was very convenient and perfect for a small bridal party. Of course, weather is uncontrollable and August is very hot, so just keep this in mind if booking a summer wedding, as most of the events will be outside, unless you flip the space. Overall, highly recommend!

There were some last minute changes required due to weather and other unpredictable circumstances but he made sure everything went smoothly and that the whole evening went well! Would absolutely recommend 128 South!

Many guests of mine raved about how awesome the food and service was. Because of their support and ability to seamlessly turn things around many people have said it's the best wedding they have ever been to. Yay! It was definitely the best day of my life. We had slightly less and it felt just right in size. We took advantage of the wedding day package which is almost all inclusive and it made planning a breeze. Katie Swain was our day of coordinator and she was so gracious in helping us navigate a COVID wedding postponement and planning of our big day. She had every minute (literally, every minute) of our ceremony and reception planned - she made sure everyone was where they needed to be at the right time and that everything was placed in just the right spot. Thanks to Katie and Davis, everything flowed seamlessly. I know that they say no wedding is perfect, and of course I’m a bit biased (and might have not noticed any errors because I was Bride-chilla), but I truly believe that our day was flawless. And it could not have happened without the 128 South team. Katie coordinated all of the details and scheduling between the DJ (shoutout to Shawn Booth from ActiveDJ Entertainment!), florist (Thank you FlowersbySol!), photographer (the talented Erin Taylor Photography) and family participation. What drew us to 128 South was the combination of a historic indoor space with character (those stained glass windows!) and the outdoor deck overlooking the river (perfect for sunset views and a nice breeze when a break is needed from the sweaty dance floor). The location of downtown was SO ideal for guests to walk from local hotels and to continue the party down the street at a local bar after the wedding ended. Another thing that we loved about 128 South is that the food and alcohol are part of the package (which means less planning!). You can choose from a variety of food packages - we went with the Charleston Touch and received dozens of compliments about the food in particular. We decided on the open bar package which kept guests happy and provided passed champagne for the toasts. Katie was so responsive, always on top of every detail that we needed, and flexible to facilitate last minute changes that are bound to occur. Davis was amazing as well as was so friendly and kind, a true professional. I can’t imagine the stress of coordinating someone else's’ event, but they were unfazed and ALWAYS, always, met us with a smile and helping hand (whether it be providing us with apps after newly wed photos, helping me with the impossible buttons on my dress to change into the reception party outfit, or making sure I had a drink in my hand). We can’t say enough good things about this venue and all of the staff that made this perfect day possible! Book it book it! I promise you will not regret it.

We were also so happy the venue was able to accommodate us including our dogs in the ceremony. Our guests complimented us multiple times on the gorgeous venue, the delicious food, and the great staff. Our wedding party was shocked (in a good way!) at how efficiently the staff decorated and then got the decorations safely packed up at the end of the night. We couldn't have been happier to get married at 128 and can't recommend it enough.
