The 21c Museum Hotel was the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner. We had a lot of out-of-town guests that we wanted to include and were struggling to find a space that could accommodate for 50+ guests. Tianna was able to work seamlessly with our event coordinator for a rehearsal dinner everyone raved about.
My husband and I loved working with 21c. Julie was an absolute angel! She made the planning process a breeze and saved the day when I forgot to book the wedding suite. Our wedding was a fairytale. If you get married at 21c, you wont be disappointed!
Wife and I used 21c / The Counting House for our rehearsal dinner before our wedding. The food and service were both great, and the staff was very accommodating with the space, letting us play our own music and a slideshow during the dinner. Bar staff were fun and made some great drinks. The art on display was kept our guests talking and entertained throughout the night. Definitely check out the old vault in the basement too, it’s a really cool and unique area. Thank you 21c!
Updated review:
I originally gave 5 stars for the planning process with 21c.
Our wedding was on October 20, 2018 and we had mixed experience with the hotel. We planned this wedding from out of town and half of our guests and wedding party don’t live in the Cincinnati area.
Pros:
1. Booking and signing contract with Julie was very easy.
2. Questions were answered quickly throughout the beginning of the process by both Alyssa and Julie.
3. Food at the venue, with the exception of the cake, was phenomenal and venue was very willing to work with any dietary restrictions. The food was worth the price, which seemed to be more expensive than other venues.
4. Venue is gorgeous and perfect for a simple, modern wedding. Cocktail hour was perfect with all the lounge spaces and art in the hotel.
5. Lots of amazing spaces for photos.
6. Suite for couple is really nice and comfortable.
Cons:
1. About two weeks before the wedding we were told there was no space for our rehearsal on the night we’d planned after formerly, and in writing, being promised a space. We were offered a time to rehearse either in the middle of the day when our party was still at work or on Thursday night before our out-of-town wedding party had arrived.
2. The day of the wedding Alyssa didn’t arrive until later in the day, so was not on site to advise the staff or help with last minute questions. We had to solve these problems on our own, including figuring out the sound system and the lighting where our ceremony and reception took place.
3. Catering staff was disorganized and cake was a mess. Not all guests were served and then rest of cake was not brought out sliced, so many of our guests did not get cake. My mother-in-law then requested the left-over cake the next day when she saw staff carrying it away. The next day my husband and I were brought two entire, unboxed tiers and told there were no to-go boxes.
4. Many of our wedding items were misplaced, including our cake cutting set and cake stand. We had to return to the venue after our honeymoon to get these misplaced items. The cake stand was never found, but we were compensated with a free night at the hotel.
Overall, the wedding was beautiful and fun because we had our incredible brother-in-law and family taking care of the above details. My brother-in-law plans large-scale events professionally and without his expertise and assertiveness, the wedding honestly might not have come together so well. I’m giving the venue three stars because at this price point the problems with catering and event staff should not have happened.
I had my wedding reception at 21c and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Julie and the rest of the team were absolutely amazing. They were incredibly attentive and made sure that our day turned out exactly as we had envisioned it. Our guests raved about the food!!! Additionally, my husband and I stayed the night in the hotel and loved the room and the treats that were left for us to enjoy.
We had our Rehearsal Dinner at the 21c and it was a great experience! Julie the Sales Manager was always extremely responsive and I loved working with her. We wanted to do the entire reception there, but unfortunately the room size was not going to work for the entire guest list. I was very happy we chose to have the rehearsal there. Everyone who attended loved the food and the atmosphere was really cool. After dinner we went to the rooftop deck and had a blast. It was nice to have the out of town folks to have a place to stay. (The reception was at the Cincinnati Art Museum) which was very close by. I thought they gave us a pretty good group rate of $199 a night for a holiday weekend. I thought the food for the rehearsal was better than some "wedding" food I have had. I would recommend the 21c for any party, wedding, shower, or other event you might be planning.
I had my wedding and reception both at 21c. They did a fantastic job and the day went off without a hitch. My only complaint is that after I booked the venue I was told that the event coordinator would be in touch and then I waited months and months to hear back. About two months before the date, I reached out because I obviously had questions. The sales manager, Julie, answered my questions promptly and said that the event coordinator would be in touch soon. About three weeks later, I reached out again to Julie and she forward my email to the event manager who, finally, got back to me. Having said all that, everything was wonderful. The staff at 21c are fantastic! Very attentive and accommodating. The food from metropole was even better than when we did our tasting! The space was perfect. They worked with all of our vendors and everything on the day of was very smooth.
I feel so bad reading the previous review because I just had a wedding there and had a very different experience. My guests had nothing by amazing things to say about the venue, the food, and their stay. I also had some pretty different ideas about what I wanted to do during my reception and they were SO accommodating. To keep my guests occupied right after our ceremony while we were taking photos, I asked if we could do a bourbon tasting and beer tasting. It was SUCH a hit!!! They brought someone from 21c in KY to explain the bourbon flight which made everything feel so high end.
For people interested in learning about the art, 21c provided a self-guided scavenger hunt which I thought was so cute. The venue was set up perfectly and the food tasted amazing!!! They created custom menus for adults and kids and even noted what my husband and I liked most :) Our guests just loved the overall feel of the night and how unique the hotel is.
My personal experience of the day and how the event itself went was extremely positive, but I do admit that during the planning I had to chase down the event coordinator several times to follow up on requests. I'm not someone who rushes with a sense of urgency so it didn't matter to me that I didn't get a response right away, but I did have to follow up several times on items just to make sure we were on the same page. At the end of the day, they delivered on everything I requested so that's what really matters.
21c is an expensive option but as long as you know that ahead of time it won't be a big surprise. It worked well for a group of 70 because everyone could stay at the same hotel. Or welcome dinner and ceremony were also downtown so everything was within walking distance which made for a very carefree weekend for the guests. I also had welcome bags prepared that gladly gave each guest upon checking in.
The only thing I wish was possible was to have better communication between the rooftop terrace and reception venue. I understand that the rooftop is open to the public, but I wanted our wedding party to wind down upstairs and I later learned that my father-in-law and family were not allowed upstairs because they were at capacity. I told them ahead of time what I wanted so I was hoping I would be able to get something reserved for the group, but they didn't allow it. We were able to get a table with most of my friends, but it would've been nice for others to come up! It didn't end up being a huge deal though, I still had a great overall experience :)
