When my husband and I began the wedding planning process, we had absolutely no idea where to begin. All we knew was that we wanted our wedding to be at least a year out from our engagement and have our wedding in Austin. We live in New York, I’...m from Houston, he’s from the Bay Area, but we wanted to have a central destination where all of our beloved friends and family could meet us for the celebration of the year. Our wishlist was simple: laid back, good vibes. With 3 of Cups Weddings + Events, we got that and more!
We ended up booking our photographers first during the early phases of wedding planning. They are a talented dynamic husband / wife duo that had years of experience working with tons of venues and planners in the Austin area. When we asked for recommendations for day-of- planners, Jessica Ryan from 3 of Cups came highly recommended per our style. They also provided a few others as alternatives, but when we connected with Jessica, we instantly knew she was our perfect match. From our first consultation, Jessica provided tons of recommendations for unique gems throughout Austin for our rehearsal dinner that we wouldn’t have discovered since we’re not from Austin. That was just for the rehearsal! For every detail in actually planning the wedding, we always felt like Jessica was our trusted partner and friend throughout the entire process. She was always mindful of our budget and always quick on her toes with additional suggestions. Our meetings never felt like work, they were always fun, productive, and filled with laughter. Perhaps my most grateful moment was when Jessica offered to meet with the majority of our vendors at our venue and conduct a site visit on our behalf a few months from our wedding. We always knew we were in good hands, but that alone, gave us so much comfort and confidence knowing that every plan — A, B, and C — had been carefully considered, and all we had to literally do was show up.
When it came to the day before and the actual day, that’s exactly what we did. My husband and I like to tout that we’re super chill, but when it came to rehearsing the day before and getting ready on the actual day, you can’t help but feel butterflies and stress leading up to the moment you walk down the aisle. Nonetheless, whenever Jessica walked into the room to check on us, those nerves just melted away. I remember mentioning that I forgot to pack a coat in case it was chilly the next day (we got married in the fall), and Jessica brought her stylish, fur coat for me! Those personal touches are invaluable.
For everyone planning now in the Austin area, my advice would be to NOT skip out on a planner and to book Jessica and her team. No matter how organized you are, or how many family members and friends offer to help out, the day flies by. You’ll need a professional by your side to make sure things run smoothly (and on time!) behind the scenes, and who can problem solve on your behalf so you, your partner, family and friends can truly enjoy the day. We will always cherish our day and are forever grateful to have found Jessica and gained a new friend along the way.
