A Fresh Event

After reading such positive reviews (future couples, I hope this helps!) it was clear that AFE was our dream team. We were paired with Rachel as our main coordinator, and enjoyed our monthly calls and AFE's planning tools to really keep us on track. As the wedding inched closer, we unironically started calling Rachel our fairy godmother, because there really is no other way to describe how she helped us. There was not a single call, text, or 7th email of the day that Rachel so much as batted an eye at. I never knew that I would be SO calm on my wedding day, because I never imagined that every minute detail would truly be accounted for; Rachel made this our reality. As my friends continue to get engaged, my first advice is always to "find their Rachel". We will forever be Rachel & AFE's #1 fans!

ot need the extra help the month of. I was extremely wrong. I could not have survived wedding planning without the extra help! Jen kept my vendors (as well as me) on track even from afar. It was like she was down the street not 5 states away. Jen is the most organized planner I have ever worked with. My other vendors even commented on her professionalism, organizational skills and her as an overall amazing person. I cannot say thank you enough for everything Jen & her team did to make our weekend so special and a complete breeze!

OTHING prepared us for the end result. Planning is one thing, managing quite another. Rachel ran the wedding and rehearsal like something we have never seen. There was no detail, name, time or vendor left to chance. I cannot ever ever imagine the day without her. Rachel completely created a worry free enjoy every minute experience for all of us. With every possible detail covered, it was a day and night from Camelot, and we will be forever grateful to Rachel and Jen and A Fresh Event.

They saw our vision from the beginning (even when we struggled to!) and we had a beautiful wedding this past March. Rachel was our main planner and she was extraordinary! She is so organized and handles even the smallest of details. The day of, she is there for anything - including when my dress broke at one point! She didn't hesitate to literally sew me back in! We worked primarily with Jen, but also with Andrea and Rachel, and together they have an amazing ability to get to know you as the unique beings that you are, both as a couple and individually. You never have to worry about being pressed toward traditional or stuffy elements of weddings past if you have a different vision. Our wedding was everything we hoped and dreamed of. And as a bride that never placed much weight on weddings or even marriage, I was completely surprised when it turned into the best day of my life. Looking back, it is easy to see how, unquestionably, this could not have been achieved without Jen. Her kindness, grace, brilliance, and ineffable composure were essential qualities, and frequently on display, in navigating us through the process… particularly in a global pandemic. We have a tendency to procrastinate (or as I prefer, ‘temporally optimize’), and it would be easy lose track of important timetables. Yet we always felt secure in Jen’s handle on our deadlines and contracts, and when we inevitably took extra time on a ‘deliverable’, she was there to apply just the right amount of pressure with friendly, gentle nudges. At every stage, Jen asked skillful questions and listened attentively. As a result, all of her vendor recommendations felt true to our aesthetic vision and organic as personality fits. She helped us interview potential vendors and then served as liaison to ensure we were taken care of from start to finish. After our event, my maid of honor texted me in shock and jealous incredulity: “How did you find all of the best vendors?!” Not only were they each very talented artists and craftspeople, but truly awesome humans. I suffer from pretty severe anxiety and was concerned this would interfere with the joy of our wedding weekend. But when it finally came time, Jen, as well as Andrea, Rachel, and each of our vendors, were so tactful, sensitive, low-key, and expert that the weekend was not tainted by a moment of stress. After the last of our out-of-town family left Chicago, I literally called Jen in tears to let her know she had given me and my husband one of the best gifts imaginable in our life together: a memory of overflowing joy, fun, and love that commenced our path into the future.

the wait. Rachel didn't miss a single detail. She would tell us things that never even crossed our minds and already had problems solved before they even were brought to our attention. I had a large bridal party, 16 bridesmaids to be exact. It was the largest party she had dealt with, and I wouldn't of known! All of my bridesmaids commented on wonderful she was and how she made sure they had enough time to relax and not feel rushed through the day. I even had down time built in, everything was truly planned to perfection. I could cry thinking about how incredible my wedding weekend was, and I can say confidently it wouldn't have been that without Rachel. Even though I know I was not her only bride, she somehow managed to juggle everything so well to make you feel as if you were. Rachel is the best in the business. The best thing a soon to be bride could do for themselves, is work with her.

She kept us on track but more importantly kept us excited. We venue/ vendor shopped in two cities which probably isn't even allowed and double the work on her end but she didn't even think twice. re. Our original wedding date was scheduled for September 2020. When our original plan was looking unlikely to happen in 2020, Jen asked us our thoughts for postponing. Fast forward after a few phone calls/emails, and lots of coordination behind the scenes on Jen’s part – we had a new 2021 wedding date, with hardly any changes, rescheduled within days. I’m still not sure how she did it. I thought I was detail orientated until I met Jen, and her spreadsheets. She gives you all the information you need for all vendor decisions, and tailors her suggestions after getting to know you both and what you have in mind. Her insight was truly invaluable every step of the way. Jen answered ALL of our questions (and our parents questions), and was there for every part of wedding planning. She handled all the communication with vendors, the venue - she does it all, and makes it look easy (although it's definitely no easy feat). It was such a relief to have someone to run ideas by, bring up important details may have overlooked, and to know we had Jen behind the scenes making everything go as smooth as possible. She made us laugh at every meeting, and we are forever grateful. Our wedding was everything we wanted, and Jen helped our vision come to life. Her expertise truly shined through when the pandemic struck and we chose to move our wedding back to June 2021. Throughout quarantine, she was (virtually) by our side, helping us create plans based on multiple scenarios given all of the uncertainties. From her first response, which was literally within an hour after we sent an initial inquiry on a weekend, Jen and her team at A Fresh Event has proven to be not only incredibly professional and knowledgable, but also a funny, calming voice in the craziness that is wedding planning. Jen was always incredibly responsive, always responding within minutes or hours, and if it took longer, sent an acknowledgment that she would get back to us. She never pushed ideas - Jen never made me feel like I had to do something because it was traditional or the way things normally go. She was encouraging of any ideas, and if we wanted something, she made sure it happened. She had a solution for any issue, answered every question I had, and has amazing connections around the Chicagoland area. I used a few of her recommendations where I hadn't already booked a vendor, and they were all absolutely fantastic. Jen coordinated every single detail down to the minute on our wedding day, and she always kept me, my husband, and my mom in the loop on anything going on. And most importantly, Jen and her team, specifically, Rachel, always kept a cool head and a positive spin on everything. If things felt off, they were quick to offer a solution and a funny quip. When my mom spiraled from stress, Jen took it in stride and was a positive light in all of it. I should also note that our wedding occurred as COVID regulations were changing almost weekly - Jen was always on top of it, advising not only us but the venue, and she kept in contact with all of our vendors to make sure they were up to speed on any changes and kept COVID compliant. On the day of, Jen and Rachel would literally appear out of nowhere to fix my dress or bustle, bring me and my husband a drink or snack, answer a question when my mom and step dad looked around the room, let us know when someone was about to speak if we were walking around the room, and much more. They tracked everything, it was insane and wonderful. I had an amazing wedding, and Jen, Rachel, and A Fresh Event are truly at the heart of that success. I could not recommend them enough to anyone, either at the beginning of your planning or later in the process. And honestly, I miss talking to them because they were funny and sharp and just great people to be around. Don't think twice about using A Fresh Event on your wedding day, you will not regret it.

Her energy is contagious, and from day 1, we were confident she would help us plan a beautiful party. I’m a Type A planner (and so is my mom and husband), so initially I didn’t know if we needed a planner. However, my friends encouraged me to look into it. We interviewed 5 planners, and Jen stood out among the others. It was as if I hired a best friend to plan with. Her organization skills matched mine, and she used Google for all her planning materials which made collaboration easy. We never felt like our questions were an annoyance. She answered our emails early each morning with thorough and informative answers. (I loved seeing her name in my inbox!!) Every single vendor she recommended was top notch, and she made the selection process seamless. We honestly ended up with the A-team in my opinion. ALL of our vendors I actually wanted at the reception because they were that bubbly and fun (not to mention talented!) Another reason to hire Jen? She helped mediate a lot of our decisions. Planning can get tricky with everyone’s opinions within the family, and Jen was a great resource to get honest feedback and someone I felt comfortable sharing my personal opinions with. We are so excited to have Jen as a lifelong friend. She helped us pull off the most beautiful day, and we are forever grateful. Hire A Fresh Event!!! It’ll be the wisest decision you make!

I’ll never forget my now husbands and I first look- it started drizzling and I turn to see Jen sprinting with two umbrellas ... she is always ahead of the game- she ensures every moment matters and is just what the couple wants. You will share tears, laughs, and many personal emotions with your wedding planner so make sure it’s Jen... she is so genuine and honest. She is the queen of Chicago wedding planning. She is the best at what she does. Sounds cliché ... but Jen helped me create the wedding of my dreams.

we didn't even know needed addressing. This continued through the end of the big day! Jen and Michelle were in constant contact with our vendors, our venue, the florist, the hotels, the caterer, the limo service, and were always one step ahead of us! They created timelines, walked us through ideas, organized meetings, phone calls, and negotiated prices on our behalf and without us ever having to ask first!! I could go on with more examples, such as emailing the hotel that the bridal suite needed chairs, extra full-length mirrors, valet services, gave the hotel a list of vendors that needed room access, etc.... Did we know we needed to do ANY of this? No. Did Jen take care of it before we even had to stress about it? Yes. If that's the one thing you take away from this review, then it should be that. You will not even know things needed to be done, and Jen will have done them already. If anything isn't to your liking, she will take care of it. If you have a question because your dad won't stop bugging you with questions, she'll answer it AND address any additional questions he has. From the second we hired them, we could breathe again. A load had been lifted from our shoulders, as they took over the whole planning process. I do want to be crystal clear and state that they never ONCE made us feel like we weren't in control. They simply acted on our behalf. After we hired Jen, I could see the difference the most in my wife, she was back to being her normal friendly, effervescent persona, she became herself again. For you and your partner's personal sanity, PLEASE hire A Fresh Event, you will thank yourself for all the years to come!! Every single time we emailed Jen about ANYTHING during the 8 weeks leading up to the wedding, she had already taken care of it. Any time we told her "Ok we have to talk to ______ and get back to you" she would volunteer to contact them herself and do the work for us. I can't put into words how incredible the feeling of safety is that Jen & Michelle give you and your partner. They never once left us wanting for more, they never once let us drown, and they never once let any hiccups get in the way of our special day!! (My favorite laugh out loud memory might still be Michelle standing behind our sub-par DJ for nearly the entire reception to ensure he did NOTHING without her explicit approval) Jen and Michelle were truly THE deciding factor to whether or not we were going to have a good wedding vs an UNFORGETTABLE wedding. I can not thank them enough for the hours of work they put in, and absolute gargantuan undertaking they performed for us! Jen & Michelle you two are an incredible team, and one that we can only hope continues to help thousands of other couples to have the wedding of their dreams!

Thanks to Jen, we put together a team of incredible vendors for our day and were completely secure in every decision we made. Jen provided immense value to us from the moment we hired her, as she first put together a budget tailored to our specific situation and narrowed down our venue search to options that fit our needs, style, and budget. Venue is one of the first and most important decisions to make about your wedding (budget and otherwise) and after we had gone through that process with Jen helping us, it was clear that bringing her onboard was the best money we were going to spend on this wedding. Through the next year and a half, she saved us so much stress and time by creating monthly tasks lists to focus our planning, narrowing our vendor selection, always being available for any questions we or our parents had throughout, and always being clear and timely with communication. Jen and Jondra ran our rehearsal and our wedding day seamlessly, including coordinating personal items (décor we brought for cocktail hour, family heirlooms in the ceremony, etc.) throughout the day and getting them back to us afterwards. I was a more-nervous-than-anticipated bride, and Jen and Jondra's calm and steady presence all day helped me stay anchored and reassured me that even if I need to take a a second to step away, everything else was proceeding as planned, so I could focus on myself and my husband-to-be. Jen also made planning our wedding an extremely personalized experience. She got to know us and our families and gave great advice on any unanticipated setbacks we hit along the way, and went above and beyond to take action where she could to take a load off of our shoulders. She earned our trust to make day-of decisions in our best interest without consulting us, since we knew she was looking out for us at all times. Above all else, planning with Jen was FUN! She has a wonderful sense of humor and is a delight to be around. She wants her couples to be unapologetically themselves on their wedding day, and you can tell how much heart she puts into her events. Wedding planning is such a special time for you and your partner and having Jen there to help us was one of the most magical things about it!

She was so accommodating in the planning process and for me as someone who knew nothing about planning weddings, I needed a lot of guidance. Like I said, she had helpful ideas and lots of vendor recommendations and truly made the planning experience so much easier. When we had questions, Jen was always prompt to respond and help us find an answer, and so patient because we had a lot of questions! By the time wedding week arrived, Jen had helped put together a perfect schedule of events and we were all ready to go! When it came to wedding weekend, our team of Jen and Jondra were all over it!! They made me feel so much more relaxed and ready to soak in every moment of the wedding. If anything went not as planned, I had no idea!! They were ready for anything and made us feel so ready to just enjoy the day. On top of that, Jen and Jondra were so fun to hang out with and made our day so much more amazing! We are truly so lucky to have had them on our team. HIGHLY recommend Jen and Jondra!

I was able to thoroughly enjoy the entire planning process and the wedding because Jen kept me so calm. After filling out a questionnaire and getting to know us, Jen gave us 2-3 options for vendors (venue, caterers, decor, etc) so the process wouldn't be overwhelming or time-consuming. - She went out of her way to be with us when we really needed her and was not afraid of having crucial conversations with hotels, vendors, etc. - She took the burdensome chores that come with planning away from us which helped make the process leading up to the wedding FUN and stress-free. - Because of the above, I have very special memories of planning the fun stuff with my parents; no doubt there would have been MANY disagreements without Jen. Other than marrying my husband, this may be the biggest gift Jen could give me. - The days leading up to the big event, everyone around me remarked how calm I was; this was 100% because I knew Jen and her team had everything under control (and I'm a big control freak...) - The day of my family, fiancé and I got to have the time of our lives without having to worry about anything. And that alone is worth every single penny. It is clear Jen is a wedding planner because she wants to help people and that purpose makes her the best in her field. She doesn't force opinions and ideals on you, she is very direct and she will always have your back. I can't recommend her enough.

2 months prior to our wedding, our lives literally changed. She organized all of our contracts, ran every walk through and follow up conversations leading up to the wedding with each vendor to make sure there were no surprises, and she was great at thinking outside the box when we were faced with a challenge. I cannot tell you what a relief it was to know that Jen was the main point of contact for all of my vendors, and that she would make sure we hadn't forgotten to do anything! She organized and attended final walkthroughs, always giving advice when we requested it but never pushing her own agenda on us. We truly felt like she was just one of our friends who happened to be a wedding expert. The week of our wedding, Jen came to our home to take all of the DIY items - flip flop baskets, photos, signage, etc, and made sure they were set up in our venue in the places we'd talked previously decided. Jen put together an extremely detailed timeline that was shared with us and our vendors, so we knew what to expect day of as far as day-of timing. On our wedding day, I never felt stressed out, because Jen was there to keep everyone calm and on task (she also had an assistant with the boys to keep them out of trouble). At the end of the night, Jen and her assistant packed up all items to go back to our house, including gifts, and delivered them to our apartment. Seeing the joy on our parents' faces while they busted a move on the dance floor all night long (as well as our own peace of mind) makes every dollar spent on Jen's services completely worth it.
