A Thyme to Cook is a dedicated team of culinary and design creatives and a diverse crew. We believe in relationships over convenience and are diligent about combining your desires with our culinary passion to create a perfectly curated experience designed especially for you and your guests.
Integrity is in all that we do. Booking every single event is not our goal. We don’t strive to be the biggest, we endeavor to be the best. Our crew builds a kitchen and fires up the ovens for every event to cook your meal fresh onsite. We order fresh regional quality ingredients weekly, slice our own meats, make our own breads, and design new flavor combinations daily. We love what we do!
We’re active partners in our local community and give back to many local non-profit organizations including the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank, Wheeler Library, Safe Futures, Mystic Arts Festival and many more. We care about the impact we make on the Earth and are proud of our 3-star Certified Green Catering distinction.
Founded by Linda Sample in 1984, and under the current leadership of Michael Ferreira, we focus all our talents on you. After 35+ years, our team continues to embody Linda’s passion for creativity, culinary design and taking care of one another. We are wildly creative, joyful, personal, and compassionate. Catherine was so attentive and you could tell she wanted to make sure she understood every minor want and detail. The day of our wedding she remembered things that I forgot I even mentioned to her! I was able to completely relax knowing she was in the driver seat (And I’m not a very relaxed person 😂). Working with her was such an incredible experience and I truly believe she is the reason that our day was a dream come true.
THE STAFF!! I cannot tell you how many complements we heard about the staff. They were such a joy, unbelievably attentive, in such an amazing mood, and they also went above and beyond for every guest. One of my friends is sober (and a tough critic) and she raved about one of the bartenders going out of her way to make a delicious mocktail. Every guest complimented their professionalism and said how they were always available but never too much. Truly every member of the staff was so incredible to work with and so kind.
Our bridal attendant(s) pampered us through the whole day. We never even made it to the bar because they were so on top of it! Making sure we had our preferred drinks, a full tray of apps just for us, dessert delivered to us on the dance floor, we seriously felt unworthy of the service haha.
The food and drinks were SO so incredible. All the compliments to the kitchen and bar staff. I’ve never heard people talk about wedding food and drinks the way that our guests did. People saying they tried things they don’t normally like, and loved it. They could not believe how endless the food and drinks felt, and said every hour it felt like a new amazing surprise. I was able to try every app, meal offering, snack and dessert and it was spectacular.
If I could rate Catherine and A Thyme To Cook more than 5 stars, I would in a heart beat. They truly made sure that our wedding day felt calm, happy, and just the best day ever!

rdinator, Dee, specifically. She was a delight to plan with leading up to the wedding, but she really shined day (and weekend) of. We had unpredictable weather and she showed up to our rehearsal with 5 different plans depending on when the weather hit and how heavy the rain was. Morning of, she was coordinating with my maid of honor on other potential options to prioritize holding our ceremony outside. It rained all afternoon and thunderstormed all night, but somehow the weather stopped and the sun came out for a 45 minute window for us to hold our ceremony and Dee was ready to move as soon as that happened. She coordinated all our vendors to make sure they were on board with all the different plans and never stressed us out - she truly worked magic behind the scenes!

The way that their service is run truly feels custom. Instead of selecting from various pre-set menus, a Thyme to Cook engaged us first to understand what we wanted from our wedding, and then built the menu around us. It felt special, which was just right.
Having a designated coordinator on-site during the day was hugely helpful for us (thank you, Rachel!), and allowed us to save the money of having a separately hired wedding coordinator. Rachel, coordinating with our other vendors, took care of a lot that we could see, and so much more behind the scenes.
Really, just great, top to bottom. Couldn't be happier!

They anticipated all of our needs, and were beyond prepared for our hungry guests. We worked with Rachel Chaplin, who is truly an angel walking this earth. She went above and beyond for us. A week looking out, the weather was iffy. She was in contact with me every day to come up with a plan that I was happy with. She truly felt on my side and on my team and did everything she could to make our day the way we were hoping it would be.
She secured an emergency rain tent for us, constantly spoke with our venue, and helped strategize what to do. Through all the anxiety, I truly felt I could be “hands off” because I knew Rachel had it covered. It did wind up raining, and Rachel stood out in the rain all afternoon with us, with a smile on her face, to make our wedding perfect. I’m so sad I can’t work with her every day!

Working with ATTC was an absolute dream! We were honestly a little hesitant to book them after talking with their sales manager, but our coordinator, Catherine, and entire team wer...
e phenomenal. I made the questionable decision of not having any sort of planner/coordinator, and absolutely could not have gotten through the process or the day without Catherine. We were able to add the setup of our extensive DIY decor/florals into our contract, and when we arrived to the reception everything was perfectly in place. When some hiccups arose (fully on us), they pivoted so smoothly no one even knew anything was going on.
And that's not even talking about the FOOD. My husband is quite the amateur chef, and he had so much fun kicking around ideas with their culinary team. They were happy to swap out hors d'oeuvres, add sauce options, and fully adjusted for the (minimal) feedback we gave at our tasting; it was a really lovely and collaborative process. We weren't sure exactly how to execute our vision of food stations in a memorable but boomer-family-friendly way, but everything was as clear and approachable as it was delicious. I think the ATTC chef introduced 20+ people over age 70 to bao buns, and they loved them! We got so many compliments on the food, and although I personally couldn't summon an appetite to save my life, the dedicated "bride and groom" attendant did her absolute best to get us fed. We also have high standards for our cocktails, and ATTC was game to batch a personal favorite they had never heard of, also extensively complimented by all the guests.
Of course this level of service is not cheap, but Catherine did everything possible to keep the process transparent and smooth. Every menu adjustment came with a clear quote update, and we were never upsold on anything.
If you aspire to be the mythical wedding that your guests actually remember your food, or you're just trying to do a lot on your own and need a vendor team with peak professionalism that you don't need to worry about, ATTC is the team you need!

thing that really stood out was how accommodating they were with dietary restrictions and allergies. We felt completely confident that all of our guests would be taken care of, and they handled every request with care and attention.
The food itself was incredible and far exceeded our expectations. They served elevated menu items like lobster rolls and filet mignon that had our guests raving all night long. Everything was beautifully presented, delicious, and felt like a true luxury dining experience.

Not only were they an amazing resource for all things catering, but they also took the time to recommend other vendors who ended up being fantastic additions to our wedding team. ks. We did our tasting and thought the food was incredible but were expecting that usually mass produced wedding food doesn’t turn out as good normally. WE WERE WRONG!!! Omg the food was incredible. We had over 50% of our guests (112 person wedding) complement our food and say it was the best wedding steak they ever had. Not only is the food incredible but they plate everything soooo beautifully. I could go on and on about how this vendor was amazing. If you are considering them do it.
A Thyme to Cook also provide you with a day of coordinator who helps with the process, reaching out and coordinating with vendors (even before the wedding) and of course all the catering decisions. We had the pleasure of working with the best, Rachel Chaplin. You would think we were her only wedding with the amount of support and attention we got. Every stress she took away. She is the sweetest and BEST personality ever. On the wedding day at dinner, I requested a straw and there were none at the venue. All of a sudden ~10 minutes later I had a straw. Turned out Rachel had someone drive to the nearest gas station and get a straw just for me. I was in AWE she has someone do that for me. I cannot recommend them enough. ginning they were nothing short of amazing, so thorough, and extremely detailed. The food and presentation was absolutely stunning and the guests are still talking about how good it all was!! They took it to the next level with the whole process- they’re not just a caterer, they’re pretty much wedding planners too! And I have to say all that and more with their event coordinator Dee! She instantly felt like family and her kind, warm presence was everything we needed throughout the process. Dee thought of every little possible detail to make sure the day was perfect and went off without any issues, and kept us fully informed and on track the entire part of the wedding planning process (without making us feel stressed out because there were SO many decisions to be made!) I honestly wish I had Dee for my own wedding- the amount of times I woke up in a panic thinking of things I had completely forgotten, etc— my sister never once had that stress of “what are we forgetting?” because Dee was on top of it all and 10 steps ahead of us. Not only was the service team from Thyme to Cook exceptional, not only were they professional, friendly, attentive, sweet, and warm, but they also anticipated our needs before we knew we needed them. There are a few things that stand out to me above all else when it comes to hospitality, the field that both my (newly married) wife and I work. Those things are warmth, authenticity, and attention to detail. Catherine, Tori, and the rest of the team provided those qualities in spades.
Their offerings were vast, but the base-line options were still of quality. The staff was communicative without overreaching. My mother, allergic to fish and shellfish, says the team was very aware and attentive of her allergies. My 3 year old niece was ecstatic with the wide variety of bread served at the table!
As the groom, we were given special care on the day of the wedding. Our needs were met and beyond. o plan our wedding, and had a lack of vision and were very behind in preparation. Our wedding coordinator, Rachel, was not only very understanding of the situation but was extremely organized and helped us quickly get on track with every detail from the catering to linens to the timeline of the day. On top of this, ATTC went above and beyond to create a custom, all-vegan menu for us. I was worried that an entirely vegan menu would not appeal to all guests and wanted the food to be both filling and satisfying. All of my fears were put to rest with the menu that they created, with some highlights including vegan pierogis, a lentil “beef” Wellington, and a vegan lasagna that my very traditional Italian grandma raved about, not even realizing it was vegan. The all-vegan dessert spread was also incredible and were truly the best vegan desserts I have ever tried and wish I could eat again. All of our guests continue to tell us how amazing the food and service was, which speaks to the ability of ATTC to expertly execute a highly customized/non-traditional menu. Our wedding day ran smoothly and was extremely enjoyable for us because of all of the hard work that Rachel and the entire team put in that day facilitate every detail and transition. The food was outstanding. From cocktail hour to dinner, every dish was beautifully presented and truly delicious. Guests are still raving about the charcuterie station, dinner, and the late-night churro bar (we are big foodies so having delicious food and cocktails was highly important to us).
The entire staff on the day of the wedding was polite and attentive. No one was ever waiting for a drink, which was important! Also, what made A Thyme To Cook even more unique was them providing us with our own day of attendant who allowed us to enjoy every moment without needing to worry about a thing.
