Working with Jen was the best decision we made! Even from my first phone call with Jen, I could tell how professional, experienced, and passionate she was about what she does. She was super receptive to our vision for the wedding and made everything go beyond anything we could have ever wished for! Even though we were planning our wedding from out-of-state, Jen made the process so seamless and stress-free. It ended up raining on our wedding day and Jen was able to pivot the entire wedding day less than 24 hours before it began - and you never would have guessed it was plan B because of how intentional and beautifully everything came together. It was the happiest day of our lives and I know that we have Jen to thank for that!

Altar Ego is without a doubt the best purchase of my whole wedding! Jennifer is professional, wise, has a great attitude, and helped me navigate the wedding process with so much grace. We worked with Jen to plan our wedding in September 2022, and picking her as our wedding planner was one of the best decisions we made. We purchased a “guide” package, and I think we certainly got our money’s worth of help from her (and then some). I can’t comment on how Jen compares to other wedding planners in Austin (since I only plan on getting married once!). But I can comment on how phenomenal it was to work with Jen, and how I have a hard time thinking someone else could do it better than her. For my wife and me, the two most important traits we wanted in our wedding planner were effective communication, and an enjoyable personality to work with on wedding day. When we first interviewed with Jen, we quickly knew that Jen would easily check both those boxes. She wonderfully blends a joyful, friendly personality with diligence and professionalism. Sure, other planners were less expensive, but even after our initial consultation we knew that we were getting a fantastic planner with her, well worth the price. Right off the bat, I was impressed with Jen’s organizational skills. She provides her clients with a virtual toolbox of documents/slides which have every little detail of the wedding laid out. She included helpful timelines, organized structure to manage your contracts, advice on rehearsal dinner locations, and much more. You get this level of professionalism with Jen, since she’s been in the industry for so long. And if you’re like me, you will have thousands of questions throughout the planning process - Jen answered them all, always in a timely manner. Since we purchased the “guide” package we didn’t get much direct planning from Jen before our wedding week (we had her handle the transportation, which she did wonderfully), but all the advice/responses to our questions were incredibly useful. Her experience in wedding planning made the biggest difference on our actual wedding day. For her and her team, managing a wedding is just another day - and that’s important! Because you don’t want your wedding planner to be stressed at all, because then you’ll be stressed. And with Jen, she and her team have the experience and confidence to seamlessly manage your wedding day, so you don’t end up worrying about a thing. And at the end of the day, that’s why you get a wedding planner - so that you don’t have to sweat the details, and can instead focus on your special day with your spouse, together. Jennifer was a huge help, and was always ready to be real and up front with the implications of any wild ideas I had. When I struggled to articulate what I wanted, she knew all the right questions to ask to get me there, and when a random emergency struck on wedding day, she went above and beyond to handle the problem without stressing me out.

I can't even put into words how wonderful Jen was! She is a spectacular planner and made the whole process stress-free. Every detail was thought of and taken care of, her tools for planning were extremely helpful, and her presence was calming and professional. She is so knowledgable and we took a lot of her recommendations throughout the process. Wow wow wow where do I even begin to start with this review. Jennifer Ashford is a WORLD CLASS INCREDIBLE wedding planner. We hired her for her full service wedding package as we were planning the Austin wedding from out of state, and so beyond glad we did. I planned my wedding with her for over 18 months. I’m a very “type A bride” who loves to try new things and she executed everything at our wedding with excellence and answered my thousands of emails over the course of almost 2 years, which was absolutely amazing. We planned a larger wedding ~200 guests, mostly out of town guests, at Addison Grove and knew nothing about planning a wedding nor planning a wedding in Austin. We learned so much from Jen! And it was such a fun process to work with her! Our wedding had all the “things”- Photographer, Videographer, Content Creator, String Band, DJ, Catering, Bar, Photobooth, Desserts, Florist, Beer Donkey’s, Fireworks, Getaway Cars, Charter Buses, Full Glam team, Rentals, And more- and Jen managed each and every vendor with excellence, taking us along for the journey throughout the whole process. I really don’t know how she does it all on top of having younger kids but she is really the best in the business. Jen is one of those planners who always will support your goals and dreams you desire for your wedding, while maintaining what’s realistic and execution-able. She tells you the “really really” and makes sure you make smart and educated decisions for your wedding day. Jen not only was able to deal with my “type A bride” many asks, but also balanced our demanding parents asks in parallel and made sure we as the couple’s voice was represented. She was always on top of her email and communication clarity, speed, and actionability was superb. Her wedding network within Austin is also outstanding- far better than most planners. She’s highly connected with all the vendors and her years of wedding planning experience show in her work- and she will make sure your day is perfect with the perfect vendors for your specific needs. Every single vendor we worked with, as recommended by her, was incredible. She also was always open to trying new things and new ideas for the wedding that were different than the average wedding and was willing to be creative and flexible with the vendors to make our dreams happen! And trust me we had a lot of out of the box ideas we learned from social media that stretched vendors to think differently! Above all else she was a joy to work with! She’s a wonderful person, has a good sense of humor, and is so kind and caring. I felt like she was such a good friend by the end of the process. I’m going to miss working with her, and hope you hire her so you can enjoy this wedding process as much as I did. Thank you Jen for everything you did for us! Jen with Altar Ego was such a blessing the month before our wedding. We selected all our vendors on our own and signed up for only the month before and day off service. Let me just say the attention to detail was amazing. We eventually added the design service and so glad we did as the reception was everything we imagined and more. We also had the reception cocktail hour entertainment have to pull out last minute and Jen hooked us up with a great quartet, and she helped me find a wedding cake only 3 weeks before the wedding. I can truly say I enjoyed my entire wedding day and had absolutely no stress what-so-ever (besides my Latin family being on time to the service ;)... IYKYK).

Altar Ego was the first vendor we booked once we established our overall location. And thank goodness because the resources they provided made it so easy to manage the rest of our wedding planning process. And Jen was genuinely a life-saver on more than one occasion. When we had to change our date by a few weeks (thanks military!) and I was in a tailspin panic, she was able to talk me off the ledge. We initially were working with another planner associated with the company but ended up having to work with Jen for the last 6ish weeks due to a conflict and despite that potential complication, everything went seamlessly. She was great at communicating with us about what needed to be done, giving us tips on things she had seen work or not work, and generally making our day go off without a hitch. The last month before the wedding was still really hectic (not just because of the wedding) but it would’ve been absolute chaos if it wasn’t for Jen. She’s got a great personality and is very easy to get along with, and her experience means she’s got great relationships with other Austin-area vendors, which just makes things even easier for the day of. Roni (Jen’s assistant) is phenomenal too. She made it her mission to make sure we were well looked after the entire day, making sure we ate, pretty much constantly had a drink in hand or readily available to us all night, and ran interference wherever necessary when Jen was tackling something else. Honestly could not have asked for a better team to make our day go off without so much as a hiccup, or at least not one that we knew about - I'd give them ten stars if I could!!!

We absolutely loved working with Jen. We had to move our date several times and at every turn she was helpful and professional. We used her recommendations for every vendor we ended up booking and together they made the day perfect. Jen will keep your wedding day on schedule and stress free it was remarkable!

We had the most amazing experience with Jen, from start to finish. Throughout the whole planning process she was with us every step of the way. She helped with all the finer details and nothing was too much trouble. Jen responded to emails quickly and promptly. No matter who you are, I think every girl grows up dreaming of their engagement and sets unrealistic expectations therefore. That is until they meet Jen and see her work. My proposal (with Jen’s help) was story book worthy and truly captured my love and fairy tale dreams. She was actually a recommendation from a family member in Dallas funny enough who had heard such great things about her even before she moved to Austin! Then come to find out she was also the planner for a good friend's wedding 10 years ago! Even though we loved our venue for the look/vibe, they weren't easy to work with, but Jen made sure to handle every detail that existed. Can't recommend her enough, stop reading review, just hire her! :)

Shannon for Altar Ego is AMAZING! I can't even count how many times Shannon calmed me, saved me, and took care of things during our postponed COVID wedding. She literally took care of everything. I was stressed a lot of the time and she helped me so much. I would have been lost planning my wedding without her! Shannon at Alter Ego ushered us through the whole Covid bride process with kindness, compassion, and expertise. She was absolutely invaluable to our wedding’s success. My daughter’s wedding was absolutely a fairytale event! Covid tried to create chaos several times but Jen kept everything under control. She was cool headed and very responsive to all if my questions and any issue that came up. She was easy to work with and kept us on budget where we needed it. Jen is the absolute best! We hired Jen for month-of services, but I feel like that hardly describes how instrumental she was to our wedding planning. My husband and I were planning an Austin wedding from out-of-state, so her prompt email communication and informed vendor recommendations took so much guesswork out of the equation for us. Jennifer is AMAZING!!! We hired Jennifer before we even had a wedding venue! I think most people hire a wedding coordinator after they have a date and venue but we loved her so much that we hired her first. She went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. I could not have asked for a better wedding planning experience than I had with Jen and Altar Ego Weddings. My husband and I had such a good experience with Altar Ego! Truly the best wedding ever--in no small part thanks to Altar Ego's amazing planning skills! We had the privilege of working with Jen Ashford--who was super organized, punctual, and kept us on-top of all of our to-do list items starting about 9 months ahead of our wedding. I loved how Jen Ashford was willing to adapt her system and priorities to fit with what worked for us and what was most important to us. Jen incorporated what we called the "weekly huddle email" where she would check in on our progress from the previous week and remind us of upcoming to-dos for that week. It worked wonderfully for us! I also loved how Jen incorporated good humor and a good attitude with all our communications--she was also excellent at being diplomatic when tensions and stress were high between family members. And! Without missing a beat, she gave a very educated and thorough explanation to my MBA-holding, Business-minded father, as to why weddings tend to be much more expensive than other events--*note* it is not completely what you think it is--remember that you're paying for a higher caliber/ better trained personnel and vendors when you are talking about your wedding, also if you are paying for a plated dinner, you're asking that all the food be ready at essentially the same time--things like these wedding details add up! Jen can explain better than I am, but it satisfied my business-minded dad. (Thanks, Jen!!). I also appreciated that Jen had so many great vendors to recommend to us--she is a leader in her field and has many many years of experience and networking under her belt in a very competitive field. I don't know what we would've done without her guidance and recommendations--it is so easy when you're on your own to get bogged down just in trying to select one vendor. And we all know there can be MANY vendors to hire for a wedding. Additionally, I so appreciated Jen's openness to learning and working with our request for a wedding ceremony that was very reverent and religious (and which had quite a few logistical details to work out). The vendors that I selected (especially ones that Jen had never worked with before), all said that Jen was amazing and a pleasure to work with! Finally, Jen is able to calmly roll with any unforseen glitches in weather etc--since our wedding was outside, we had arranged a rain plan, but had decided to go ahead and get married outside. The morning of our wedding it was pouring rain and Jen very calmly helped my family and my husband to make the decision to continue moving forward with the plan to keep the wedding outside. The weather was amazing during our ceremony--only a couple drops of rain and perfect temperature. We are so grateful that Jen led us through and had umbrellas etc ready to go, if the rain had persisted. I also want to give a shout out to Jen for sending us to her in-house graphic designer, Jen Krause! Jen Krause is not only an amazing event planner too, but she created an entirely custom style guide and suite of wedding invitations (with beautiful hand-calligraphy), place cards (also done by hand!), thank you cards, custom return address stamps and day-of signeage that was gorgeous and stylistically pulled everything together in an amazing way! We are so grateful! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The best day of our lives!

I wasn’t sure that I wanted a Wedding Planner, but I decided to meet with a few anyway. My mind completely changed when I met Jennifer. We clicked instantly, and I knew that I wanted to work with her! Jennifer is well connected in the industry and was more than happy to give recommendations, connect me with vendors and answer all my questions (I had at least one a day!). I also had the unique experience of tagging along with Jennifer to work one of her weddings. From behind the scenes, she completely rocks at what she does. She took care of things before anyone knew they needed to be taken care of and made sure that everything ran smoothly the whole night. This was the experience for our wedding day, too! Jennifer is a complete joy to work with. Thank you times a million for everything!

If you are thinking about spending the money on a planner DO IT and use Jennifer! Best money we spent out of our budget was on this without a doubt. Jennifer worked with me from day one of meeting to answer all of my questions and to make sure that the day went flawlessly. Day of I seriously didn't have to worry about a thing which is such a relief after all of the work of wedding planning. Jennifer is so familiar with Austin and has close connections to the Venues which was so helpful. She thinks of everything that you would never think of and gets it done. Leading up to the wedding she went through contracts, and communicated the day of schedule with all of the vendors so that I didn't have to. Day of she not only made sure the day went as planned and that everyone knew what they were doing but oversaw all set up and tear down. Honestly could not have done it without her and her team. She is a joy to work with and you wont regret it!

Jenna and Jen were lifesavers on our wedding day! We used Altar Ego for month-of coordination, and even before the last month, Jenna was very helpful answering questions and recommending vendors. Having her help with all of the last minute vendor coordination and logistics was a huge relief. Jenna and Jen took care of everything we needed on our wedding day and kept things organized and on schedule. I'd highly recommend them!

I couldn't have met with Jennifer at a more perfect time than I did. She absolutely delivered and then some and I could have not done it without her and the rest of the team, Jennifer Krause!! Jen answered all our questions and knew exactly what I was feeling or wanting when meeting with specific vendors. I felt very comfortable explaining my vision for the wedding and she completely knocked it out of the water, I couldn't be happier about how it all turned out! Having The Jennifer's for the entire wedding process was by far the best decision I ever made! Jennifer Krause, was also absolutely wonderful to work with on the calligraphy for the table placements and invitation details. She was very thorough and quick to respond with any changes that were made. They made wedding planning enjoyable, stress free, and breathtaking memories!!

If you are thinking about whether or not to hire a wedding planner, I would stop thinking and definitely recommend hiring a full time wedding planner for your big day! It helps to take so much stress off of you and is a great way to make sure you enjoy the wedding planning experience. Jennifer at Altar Ego Weddings did a great job as our planner. After interviewing several planners in the Austin area, we found Jennifer to be a good fit as she was outgoing, very direct, and seemed like a woman who would get things done. She didn’t disappoint on any of those fronts. We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted for our wedding and she helped to make the wedding of our dreams a reality. Our wedding day itself was absolute perfection and wouldn’t have been possible without Jennifer. She had a very tight timeline that she held people accountable too and things went off without a hitch! The other vendors seemed to get along with Jennifer and she did a great job managing them all leading up to the big day and on the day of. Thank you Jennifer for all your help in planning our wedding!

Where do I begin?! I would not have made it through wedding planning without Jen. Starting from Day 1 with the consultation, Jen was open to hearing what I thought I needed help with - and suggested a hybrid package between full-time wedding planning and month-of coordination. Throughout the few months leading up to the wedding, we would have periodic meetings and phone calls - she would sense when I was getting stressed out about something and would offer to handle those items for me! She had great suggestions for vendors - I used all vendors she recommended and was not disappointed in any of them. She was always available to chat even just for me to vent or bounce ideas off of her - she kept me from losing my mind with all of the details and reassured me everything would be great! And it was!!! On the day of the wedding, I honestly did not worry at all and everything went perfectly - she knew every detail and executed the whole day exactly how I wanted. I had so many people come up to me during the reception saying they had never seen a wedding day go smoothly - and it was all thanks to Jen! This was the best money we spent on our wedding and we are so grateful for everything Jen did for us - thank you!

I have to start by saying that I am a very organized and detailed oriented person so finding the perfect wedding planner was going to be a difficult task. I met with at least 20 wedding planners before I met Jen, and after I met her I knew she was it! She is so down to Earth and professional and just makes you feel at ease. During the whole process, she would respond to any of my many emails or text messages promptly and go out of her way to make sure I was okay with everything. She was also excellent in communicating with all my vendors and making sure that everything was in order so I wouldn't have to worry about a thing. On wedding day, Jen and her assistant were fabulous! Everything was perfect and ran flawlessly! And if there was anything that was wrong, I had no idea because they took care of everything! I had so many worries and concerns that my vision would not come out the way I wanted, but with Jen on my side, I knew I had nothing to worry about. If you want your dream happen to go on without a hitch, then there is no other choice than Altar Ego Weddings!

We were not 100% pleased with the services provided by Altar Ego. I would not say Jen was "bad" but we felt that she fell short in several areas. For example, when we asked her for a referral to purchase alcohol for our BYOB bar, she said she didn't have anyone but she would like to have someone. So we did all the leg work and found our own person, while living in another state. When she was working on our transportation schedule with the bus company, she provided inaccurate information, got confused and then literally just told the groom he had to handle it. She also failed to follow up with our caterer in a timely manner which led to them contacting me directly to ask if we were still working with Jen. This also resulted in our being charged more money unexpectantly when our budget had already been maxed out. Instead of seeing this as an opportunity to recover from her sub-par service, Jen was overtly defensive and refused to admit that she had made a mistake. The caterer was not the only vendor who asked why they had not heard from Jen. On the day of the wedding, one member of the staff she brought with her bad mouthed my mother in front of a family friend because she had asked that the candles stay lit during the reception. And I have since heard stories from guests regarding encounters with her staff at the wedding that was less than pleasant. Unfortunately, the day-of staff is a reflection of Altar Ego- although I believe every reference was regarding a temporary staff person, rather than Jen's regular assistant. Overall, Jen provided some great referrals, she definitely has good contacts. Our wedding day was also stress free which of course is the goal. However, the areas where she fell short left us feeling overwhelmingly stressed during the weeks leading up to the wedding.

People say it all the time, but it's true. The best money I spend was on a coordinator. Jen was fabulous from beginning to end. During the week leading up to the wedding, I kept saying to myself "I don't know what I would be doing right now if Jen were not here with me." She helped get all my vendors organized, made sure they knew what time they needed to be there, made sure they WERE there the day of, always had a drink in my hand, and when I couldn't get the band's attention to request a song she did it for me. She was like the half of me that meant business so party-Carrie could be 100% present all night. She is actually not doing day-of coordination from here on out, only month and longer. But she's SO worth it.

Jen is awesome! I hired her as a "day of" coordinator and she exceeded my expectations! She just took all the extra weight off my shoulders.
