Should you get your alterations done here? HECK NO! My entire experience at Amanda's was absolutely amazing until I got my dress 3 days before my wedding. The dress does NOT fit and it bunches around my waist. Also the seamstress did a sloppy j...ob and you can see her stitching in back of my dress.
I met with the seamstress two times to talk about my dress and she reassured me that the bunches would go away once she steamed and press the dress. But they didn't. When I picked up my dress and saw this, of course the seamstress wasn't there that day. The manager, Jan, was NO HELP what so ever. She said, "I'm not sure why she would promise you that... Also, It's your wedding day, people will tell you you're beautiful no matter what".... Ummm, Excuse me? I just spent $1400 on this dress along with $400 for alterations. But I'm sorry spending $1800 all together for a dress that doesn't make me feel like a beautiful bride is not worth it. I would not recommend going to the place at all due to the manager and the seamstress.
I loved Amanda's up until this. The front girls are amazing for helping you find your dress. If you do go, see Heather. But for anything else do not go here. It will be extremely expensive and once your dress if fully paid for, they do not care about you or your wedding at all.
I understand that the manager is not a seamstress, but looking a bride in the eye, 3 days before her wedding and telling her that it doesn't matter what she looks like in her wedding dress is not acceptable. Jan did not offer anything for me. She did not offer to call the seamstress or for me to come back tomorrow when the seamstress was there. She basically said there was nothing she could do or wanted to do for me.
Luckily, I found another seamstress who can fix my dress. She is going to have to completely undo the original work of the other seamstress. In her opinion, the other seamstress made my dress to tight causing the bunches which is why I could not sit down. She thinks that the lady forgot to take into account that everyone's thighs expand when they try and sit, which is very sloppy and unprofessional.
