About this vendor
Applegate Ranch, formerly known as Summer House, in Grants Pass, OR is a stunning space for couples to say “I do”. Located at the head of the Applegate Wine Trail, this picturesque venue is the perfect backdrop for a magical wedding.
To-be weds can enjoy getting ready in a spacious and newly remodeled suite. Each suite has a private dressing area, bar for refreshments, and lounge area. The weather needn’t be a worry since the Ranch offers both indoor and outdoor spaces. The 63-acre ranch is surrounded by trees, pastures, and woodlands, with space for up to 150 guests. This makes for a truly intimate atmosphere that translates well for the ceremony and when it is time for photos. If you’d prefer, a contemporary gazebo or a decorative arch alongside a tranquil pond is also available for the ceremony. Afterwards, you can celebrate the night away with dinner in a rustic hall and drinks on the spacious patio.
Let the resident wedding planner research, manage, and take care of the details while you enjoy and be in the moment. There is no need to rent tables and chairs, for example. The Ranch provides them alongside silverware, white table cloths, and napkins in your color of choice. Bespoke backdrops and sweetheart table decorations can also be arranged for the wedding party. The wedding package additionally includes on-site parking for 50 cars, audio-visual equipment, and tea/coffee with cake cutting services. To take this a step further, they also take care of the set up and clean up. The Ranch’s collaborative approach to wedding design and planning allows you to have fun on your most special day.

Amy and Jesse helped us pull off our dream wedding! The venue is so beautiful, and Amy is an absolute creative force! Amy helped us through the entire planning process. She understood the vision immediately and worked with my partner and I to ensure that whatever was most important to us was worked into the plan. The result was an incredible wedding full of color and Hobbit references. While few people can say they had the perfect wedding, I think we got pretty close!!
I would work with Amy again in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend Applegate Ranch for any nearly-weds!
The Applegate Ranch was such a beautiful venue. The owners Jesse and Amy are such wonderful helpful and caring people!
They made our day so magical and so easy. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
Amy also did the coordination and did our floral arrangements. This is a one stop shop for everything you need.
Amy and Jesse were wonderful. The venue was absolutely beautiful. I met with Amy many times during the planning process. She was able to accommodate my changes in decorations many times even up until the day before the wedding (I added draping on the arch the night before). I love that they did the set up an take down of the wedding. That helped with so much stress that would have been added for us and our families. Amy was very knowledgeable on venders in the area and even help with reservations for catering and a bartender that would fit our budget. My husband and I were on a tight budget so we decided to do our own flowers. However, I had never made flower arrangements before. Thankfully Amy came to the rescue. She helped to teach us how to make arrangements. In the end we did not have enough time to finish the arch or wrap the bouquets. Amy was a saving grace who worked on everything the night before to make sure we had the beautiful arch we wanted and the day of she worked on wrapping the bouquets and tying up all of the loose ends. Amy and Jesse help encourage me to enjoy the day of our wedding without focusing on the stress of the little details.
The cons:
Not all of our items got put out. We did Polaroid pictures for our guest book but we ran out of film because all of it wasn’t set out.
Our welcome sign kept getting taken down. Possibly because of the wind but we had someone there who could make sure it would be set back up if it fell over.
Amy was a little frantic and frustrated the day of the wedding. (I’m just grateful that I didn’t feel that way and thankful she was able to be the one to be running around doing all of the tasks) however this was the report I got from a few family members.
Other than that I am super grateful for all of the help this venue offered. I hadn’t been to many weddings so I had no idea how things went while getting married (line up of walking down the isle, how many songs, etc.) Amy was able to walk me through all of that.
If I can give anyone a suggestion it is to stand firm if something is important to you and Amy suggest otherwise. But don’t forget to take a look at why she suggested otherwise.
In all fairness I have tried to list the pros in addition to the cons in this review.
Amy is the main venue contact/manager and her partner, Jesse helps with setup and grounds maintenance.
Things she promised but not deliver on;
-Decorations on photo booth. Sadly, the decor for the photo booth that we provided, at our own cost, was ruined beyond repair (by Amy) and we were unable to use at the reception.
More things she promised but not deliver on;
-Outdoor games incl. cornhole
-Price quote for fresh flowers
-Fresh flowers on cake & help serving the cake
-Assistance with wedding planning
-Help directing activities during reception and being present and available during reception. We were constantly looking for her.
-Having all the decorations prepped and ready to go prior to ceremony. We delivered decorations starting 2 weeks prior (per her request so that she could have them ready), however, she did not even look at them until the ceremony was about to begin. Unfortunately, some decor didn't make it out at all.
Areas Amy was lacking in;
-COMMUNICATION, VERY, VERY hard to get in contact with her, does not return phone calls/texts
-ORGANIZATION, very unorganized, back rooms look like a hoarder house. Kitchen was very dirty.
-Personal attention, she was taking personal texts/phonecalls during our rehearsal.
-We personally went over what linens/decor we wanted on the dining table MONTHS prior and Amy as well as us took pics of the tables. We had to remind her MANY, MANY times what we had decided on. This included on the night of rehearsal! At the rehearsal she was trying to talk us into table linens that weren't even my daughters colors! We had given her a swatch MONTHS prior.
Pros, things that were provided,
Beautiful, beautiful property
Tables & chairs provided
Bathrooms provided
Jesse (partner) was very helpful and tried to compensate for Amy
Serving of food (food brought by us)
Using our decorations, they did get the wedding arch decorated nicely (I assume this was done by Jesse)
Sound system
Table #'s provided
Engaged couples beware! They have a wonderful property, however the management of the venue is very, very lacking. One of their big selling points is that they say they help with the wedding planning. They do not!
There is no way to convey exactly how amazing Jesse and Amy are. They helped plan the literal PERFECT wedding. Amy was so helpful in planning everything, from beginning to end. They were so friendly and nice. The venue itself is a magical. I got married halloween weekend and the venue was an autumn wonderland. It was everything I could have ever wanted. Even if you don't live here, book with them. It will be worth it.
Oh my gosh. How to I convey just how great Jesse and Amy were in making our dream wedding a reality?
If you go with them, you get two very caring, attentive, and fun people to help you plan your wedding from ideas for vendors, helping take down and set up (helping? Who am I kidding? They did all of it!), decoration ideas, timeline planning and help, etc, etc.
They went above and beyond (and I mean above and beyond) to make sure we were well cared for and supported on our wedding day. I did not know them before I booked with them but now I have lifelong contacts and friends in the area.
Book with them! You will not be disappointed!
