We had the most incredible experience hosting our wedding at Archer Hotel! The team went above and beyond to make our celebration feel personal, stress-free, and truly unforgettabl...e. Anja is an absolute gem. She coordinated closely with our wedding planner and was always thoughtful, responsive, and proactive in making sure everything went smoothly. We are so happy with our choice of having our wedding at Archer for a few main reasons: 1) location/hotel-feel/vibes, 2) planning logistics/and personal touches to our stay, and 3) the food.
Location/hotel:
We looked at several Hill Country venues but decided against them due to the distance from downtown Austin (over an hour away), limited luxury accommodations for a group of our size (~150), and the need to split the ceremony and reception between two locations. We chose the Archer because of its location in the Domain, which had plenty of parking for guests driving in (valet also available) and a walkable area with shops, restaurants, and family-friendly options for out of town guests or those who may not have rented a car. We also liked that it’s a boutique hotel with a modern Texas feel—more personal than larger 5-star hotels in the area or in downtown Austin.
Planning/logistics:
We held both our ceremony and reception at the hotel, which made things easier for our guests and the planning team. During cocktail hour, Anja and the staff helped flip the room in under 45 minutes. The hotel also coordinated our wedding block and grouped family members on different floors to make getting ready more convenient. They helped us deliver welcome gifts to guest rooms and were flexible when our brunch guest count grew last-minute—moving us to a larger space without issue.
The team also provided helpful items for the getting-ready process, including higher director’s chairs and floor-length mirrors, and even helped us accept a last-minute delivery. After the reception, they extended the hours at the AKB Bar downstairs so guests could gather before heading out. When we returned to our room, there was a handwritten note, a sweet treat and champagne from Anja and the team, which was such a nice touch to an amazing day/evening.
Food and service:
The hotel catered for over 150 guests and vendors, and the food was excellent. Personally, I've have had food at weddings where the fish was dry or meat overcooked due to the large amount of food being prepared. But one of the most-raved about things from this weekend I heard from my guests were the food from both the reception and the day-after brunch. The fish was cooked properly—flaky and not dry—and the beef was tender and flavorful. They loved the variety of options to choose from, and our vegetarian guests are also very happy with their options. Anja and her team worked to ensure they had special meals prepared separately, as well as for those with allergies. Guests also really enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres. We’ve been to weddings where large-scale catering can mean inconsistent food, but that wasn’t the case here.
Overall, we’re so glad we chose the Archer Hotel. Anja and her team made the weekend run smoothly, and we highly recommend the venue to others planning a wedding or event in Austin. You will not regret your choice.
