Very accommodating for guests and us. Willing to set up decoration and have rentals available, prices for items and food varied since initial agreement.
Love, love, love! Brenda and Deb were on top of their game helping us.
Arrowwood staff made sure that our wedding day went exactly as we hoped and planned it would. They were very accommodating. The food made by Minerva's was absolutely phenomenal! I would recommend them to anyone!
Great help from Justin and Keri, everything went so smoothly.
They have a very nice reception hall and are accommodating to most of your needs. However, it felt like they were spread to thin as there were 4 other wedding events going on and it was a bit chaotic there. A lot of small errors were made and it seemed there was a lack of communication between the different departments working with us. They were willing to meet with us and hear our thoughts and were very apologetic.
I had a morning wedding at Arrowwood. The chef came up with a fantastic custom menu for our brunch reception. They did the set up and tear down so it made my day very stress free. Jonalee was great to work with!
During our planning process, the event coordinator switched positions. Amanda was fabulous, but there was a little catch up time on our event. Other than that, everything went flawlessly. The food was great and the ballroom was beautifully decorated.
Our wedding reception at Arrowwood turned out beautifully but it wasn't because of anything they did. We had 4 meetings scheduled with the wedding coordinator. She didn't show, so never got to meet with her. The events coordinator did great at filling in for her on those meetings. But when it came to the weekend of the wedding neither ladies were able to be located. Also the food taste was a waste of time because on the wedding night they didn't even prepare what we had requested.
We had our wedding reception in the ArrowWood Wimbledon Room in Okoboji Iowa and had Minervas Cater. The event staff and our event planners Amanda and Kacie did amazing jobs! We had a very large wedding and they were very accomodating. I would recommend using the venue to any bride! It is a beautiful place although it is a little pricey. However their hotel staff did not work with us at all. We ended up having our hotel block at the AmericInn directly next door. They were able to give us $89 rooms and we ended up booking the entire hotel!!
The venue and location was excellent. Everything turned out well in the end. However, the process until that day was a little challenging. We went through 3 different event coordinators due to position changes within the hotel. Continual communication was needed to make sure what we wanted actually happened in the end. There were somethings that did not happen, but not a huge deal in the end. The worst part was that they were fixing the draping on the ceiling which resulted in dead bugs landing on the tables (which were already set). It took us asking for them to be cleaned up several times before it actually happened. The event staff was good for the most part and accommodating. We are glad we did the reception here in the end, but you definitely need to be prepared to keep in contact with them.
As I started the search for a wedding vendor in 2011, I was highly impressed by the layout and communication with Arrowwood Resort. However, as the wedding planning process proceeded it became difficult working with this particular vendor. Over a 16 month time period, it was required for me to be flexible as there was an event coordinator position turnover which required working with three different event coordinators while planning our wedding. Difficulties were displayed as each coordinator would inform us of a variety of rules/regulations and what was and was not allowed. Meetings went well; however, when proposals and information were documented at least 75% of information was inaccurate. This required additional emails, phone calls, and meetings to review the prior information that was discussed to ensure accurate details and information for the wedding.
As mistakes were made throughout the wedding planning process, we were told by the event coordinator, “I forgot to inform on this particular issue you as I got too busy. I am sorry for the inconvenience. This is my first summer working.” Due to unprofessionalism and verbally expressed mistakes made on Arrowwood’s part, additional expenses were required in order for our wedding to be as planned. Due to lack of communication and errors arising throughout the process, communication with the Food and Beverage Manager and Corporate Manager was required. I want to make note that both of these individuals were wonderful to work with. I highly recommend working with these individuals as they displayed outstanding professionalism on a regular basis, provided timely responses, and would make appropriate changes when needed.
I also want to make note that daily emails and phone calls were made to the current event planner starting 8 days prior to our wedding, we were unable to contact the current event coordinator to finalize details, place food and beverage orders as they were all due. Finally, it was required to contact higher management to ensure the orders were placed and to contact the current event coordinator. We were not able to meet to finalize details until three days before the wedding. Additional stress occurred as this should have been able to be finalized weeks before the wedding. We asked to have a final agenda and wedding quote prior to leaving Arrowwood that day as we wanted to ensure our wedding day to go as planned. As we reviewed the first document, there was inaccurate information that we had discussed just prior in our meeting. This happened four times in a row, requiring the event coordinator to update and reprint each document prior to us leaving that day.
I could provide further comments regarding unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and errors made; however, I believe I have made it known that it was difficult working with Arrowwood Resort. As we all know, you may encounter multiple situations that you may need to address during wedding planning. I was looking forward to having a fun and relaxed time planning our wedding as it only happens once. However, due to working with the event coordinator at Arrowwood, it made it difficult to enjoy wedding planning. If Arrowwood Resort is a vendor you choose, I advise to have emails and documents signed by both parties. As a current professional, my duty on a daily basis is to display professionalism, honesty, and to provide accuracy. These traits were absent with the event coordinator.
