Hello! It’s pretty easy to pinpoint where my love of entertaining and caring for people came from. I had a great grandmother who lived and breathed hospitality. She possessed no degrees or education but out of her being flowed creating memorable experiences. She was a woman who loved to cook and entertain and every person that sat around our well set dinner table felt they were a part of our family. Little did I know that that my childhood and young adult life would be taking shape by her example for such a time as this. My love of organization and planning has followed me forever, and always carried over into my work. My roots in event planning started in a historical boutique property that led me to a large corporate hotel in Ocean City, MD. I took a step away from event planning for 4 years and lead a non profit for women and children. This experience only deepened my love for caring for human needs. After this season I took the Director of Catering position a branded hotel in lower DE where over the last 5 years I was a part of planning over 125 weddings. I now have the privilege and honor of calling Ashore Resort my new home as the Director of Catering where many memories will be created and new friendships will be formed with incredible couples like yourself. As a wedding and events planner, I’ve been able to sharpen my passion for helping clients create truly fantastic experiences. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing my services made lasting memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. I received numberous awards in my field such as, Best Wedding Planner in Sussex County by Coastal Style and the CARE Award recipiant by TKo Hospitality. What really makes my heart beat? My love for my 5 children, adoring husband, 2 crazy dogs, 25 chickens and 3 ducks! And, my love for gardening and second hand shopping. From start to finish Lisa Wilgus and her team worked with my daughter to help her have the wedding she was dreaming of! Lisa worked with our daughter and fiancé on creating exactly what they were hoping for and gave them ideas to woke within their budget. Our daughter and son-in-law met at mutual friend’s wedding at Ashore a year prior and had their hearts set on getting married where they met. When the wedding weekend arrived the forecast was looking iffy for an outdoor wedding on the beach, and plan B needed to be discussed. Lisa, Reggie, Sandra, Mr Bob, and the entire hotel team worked with us all day and weekend to go above and beyond in flexibility to allow everyone to go outside and still be married on the beach, even in the rain. The two indoor spaces that we used for cocktail hour and reception for plan B worked out perfectly and guests are still commenting on how well the staff worked together to make it all happen. Everyone is so customer service driven, friendly, personable, etc. we could not have asked for a better team or venue for our daughter’s wedding. The Tide dining room is beautiful and the food is fantastic, which is nice for guests staying the weekend. Rehearsal and dinner went great, and everyone loved being out on the Dune Deck for the evening! Thank you to Ashore! We definitely recommend using them.

We got married at Ashore at the end of October. From the planning process to the final song, everything was seamless. Lisa Wilgus specifically made the process incredibly easy, and she was very transparent with pricing, which we greatly appreciated. Ashore also did a very good job of laying out who was responsible for what, so there were no surprises come wedding day. All of the guests were extremely complimentary, and Claire and myself could not be happier that we chose Ashore!

I got married at Ashore Resort and Beach Club recently and it was nothing short of incredible. Despite a Nor’easter rolling through that day, you would’ve never known—everything went off without a hitch thanks to the amazing staff and seamless coordination. From the very beginning, the team at AShore was organized, professional, and incredibly supportive. They handled every detail with such grace and efficiency that I never had to stress. The ceremony was beautiful, the food was absolutely delicious, and the entire event was smooth and memorable for all the right reasons. I can’t thank Lisa and her team enough for making our day perfect, even under unpredictable weather conditions. If you're considering a beach wedding, don’t think twice about AShore—they will exceed your expectations!

Everything about Ashore Resort and Beach Club was perfect! From the very beginning, we could tell that we were in good hands with Lisa. She is truly an expert in her field. Her willingness to answer any and all questions was greatly appreciated. Not to mention, the entire staff was absolutely incredible on our wedding day! We received so many compliments on not only the venue itself (the Tide Room has views of the ocean from every seat), but also the incredibly quality of the food and service. It was a perfect wedding and there were no hiccups at all thanks to Lisa and the team at Ashore!

We could not have asked for anything better for our wedding! From the initial meeting and venue tour, all the way up until (and after) we said "I do", the Ashore (namely Lisa, the Director of Catering) was right by our side, ensuring everything was at or exceeding our standards. They were extremely accommodating to all of our needs and wishes for our wedding and were there to help any time we needed. We cannot thank them enough! The venue was stunning, freshly remodeled and exactly as it appears in pictures. The banquet staff working our wedding reception was super friendly and did an amazing job to make our night as special as possible! We had gotten recommendations from multiple friends and family members about the Ashore, and we are so glad we listened to them!

My wife & I recently held our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner, Welcome Party, and Wedding Room Block at Ashore Resort and Beach Club and we had the most amazing wedding weekend! The event planning was top notch - Lisa Wilgus and her team provided incredible service from our initial vision & planning meeting all the way through the execution of the events! Our Rehearsal Dinner was incredible as we were able to take full advantage of the Tide Room restaurant including amazing views, excellent food, and even our own private satellite bar. We then had our Welcome Party at their Shore Deck venue and our guests were blown away by the ocean views and how amazing the space was. We opted to have a themed "White Party" and we were able to work with Ashore to coordinate a gourmet Mac & Cheese bar, private bar on the outside bar overlooking the ocean, and even a DJ. Our guests are still talking about the White Party & how beautiful the event space was! Overall we could not have asked for a better kickoff to our wedding weekend and are so thankful we selected Ashore! If you are looking for a memorable beach front venue with incredible food and amazing staff, look no further then Ashore Resort & Beach Club!

While the venue itself is stunning and many guests still had a great time, I unfortunately cannot recommend it to other couples planning their special day due to a number of serious service issues. The Shore Deck, where our reception was held, was not properly cleaned after a comedy show the night before. There was visible candy under the tables, and the floor wasn’t mopped until we asked—at which point a spot clean was done. During cocktail hour, many guests reported that they never saw or were offered passed hors d’oeuvres. There either weren’t enough appetizers or not enough servers circulating them. The bruschetta station ran out by the time my husband and I got to it, which was very disappointing. The dinner service was a major issue. The pasta station was severely understaffed, and some tables weren’t called up to eat until an hour and a half into the reception. Several children became so hungry that their parents had to leave the event to feed them. The bar was also under staffed. Long lines led many of our guests to go purchase drinks at the Tap Room instead of using the open bar we paid for. To add to the stress, our vendors weren’t granted timely access to the ceremony space, which delayed setup and caused them to ask if we could push our ceremony back an hour the day of. Some elements of our setup had to be skipped entirely in order to stay on schedule. In addition, me and my husband did not enjoy working with Lisa. Once the tasting was over her emails became more hostile and less professional. She called me after the final planning call and said me and my family were giving her heightened anxiety about my wedding day with our questions. They were hosting another wedding adjacent to ours that started two hours earlier, and our questions were about if the venue was prepared to accommodate that. We did have to walk through the other reception to walk down the aisle, which was a weird set up.

that many of your guests enjoyed themselves and found the venue beautiful, I’m very sorry that portions of your experience did not reflect the seamless day we strive to provide every couple. Regarding the Shore Deck, we did host a private event the evening prior. Our banquet and housekeeping teams were scheduled for an early-morning deep clean and full reset well before your ceremony and reception setup. I understand you wanted to view the space earlier than our cleaning crew’s scheduled arrival, and I regret that this timing caused concern. We appreciate your comments about the pasta station. It’s one of our most popular interactive options, offering more than 20 ingredients and three dedicated chefs preparing dishes to order. In reviewing your event, we recognized that additional staffing would have improved the flow of service and have since adjusted our procedures accordingly. As for the ceremony setup, the hotel did grant early access for your florist to install the arbor well in advance. However, given the unusually warm and sunny conditions that morning, it was ultimately decided that setting up too early would risk damaging the fresh florals — a decision made in the best interest of preserving their quality for your ceremony. While we occasionally host multiple events on property, each has its own dedicated team, space, and timeline to ensure a personalized experience. I understand the proximity of another event may have added stress, and I’m sorry this detracted from your day. Lastly, I was deeply surprised to read your comments about my communication. In over 25 years in this industry, I’ve built my career on professionalism, empathy, and a true love of helping couples celebrate one of life’s most meaningful days. My intention was never to cause frustration, and I regret if our conversations left a different impression. Where to begin, there are so many great things to say about the Ashore and Lisa Wilgus and her team. My wife and I had the wedding of our dreams at the Ashore. The Ashore was one of the first venues we chose to call on and the minute we spoke with Lisa (who was very quick to respond), we knew we had found our location. To begin with, Lisa is a kind, lovely woman, who genuinely wants to make your wedding perfect. Lisa was very knowledgeable and had our best interests in mind when we explained our budget and needs, and she helped find the perfect options for us. The day of our wedding, everything the Ashore and the team provided exceeded our hopes and expectations. The entire process of planning was so easy and seamless, Lisa made every effort to accommodate us in every way to make it the most special day for us. They were quick to respond, and communication was simple. All aspects of the contract were clearly explained, and the timeline / due dates were easy to follow. We held our reception in the Tide Room, a beautiful and very unique room with views of the ocean from anywhere you sat in the room, which also easily accommodated an 8-piece band and lots of dancing. The table settings were perfect, the drinks, plated meals and their presentation were fabulous and the service was top-notch, you didn’t even know there were servers in the room. We loved that the packages at Ashore include the linens, plates, silverware, glassware, gratuities, and other fees – which made planning and budgeting very easy. For our ceremony, we were supposed to be married on the beach, but unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Despite the last-minute change to hold the ceremony indoors, in the amazing Tide Deck room just hours before the start, everything went flawlessly. The staff were amazing and kind to everyone, and they treated us, our families and guests, like no one else mattered. Our friends and family are still raving weeks later about how incredible everything was, saying it was the most perfect and beautiful wedding ever. We cannot recommend this venue, and all of the staff, enough. We will definitely call Lisa and her team at the Ashore to host more events in the future and we recommend that you do the same! Many thanks to Lisa, her team, and the Ashore for giving us an unbelievable day, and all the memories that we all will cherish for a lifetime.

I cannot say enough good things about Ashore Resort and Beach Club! Absolutely incredible! From the moment we toured the venue to the final farewell, the entire experience was flawless. The venue itself is stunning — modern, and beautifully maintained. The ceremony space is one that is hard to find. What truly set Ashore Resort apart, though, was the staff. Every team member we interacted with was professional, kind, and went above and beyond to ensure our day was stress-free. Lisa and her team were a dream to work with, keeping everything running smoothly, making sure no detail was overlooked, and offering helpful advice and suggestions throughout the planning process. On the big day, they were on top of everything, managing timelines, guests, and ensuring that all we had to do was enjoy the day. We received so many compliments from our guests about the venue and the seamless experience. It truly felt like a magical, well-executed celebration, and we owe so much of that to the wonderful team at Ashore. Lisa showed us the property and we fell in love. This was the first and only location we toured for our wedding. They recently renovated and it is beautifully decorated. Lisa was professional and helped with our difficulties with the front desk staff. The hotel should be thankful they have Lisa because if it weren't for her we would've canceled our reservation and headed somewhere else. Getting our rooms for our guests was quite a mess, but Lisa smoothed it all out, and we trusted her. The food was fabulous, and Lisa went above and beyond to make our day special. The restaurant staff that catered our wedding were amazing, although I didn't catch their names. I remember one was hispanic and the bartender was Jamaican, both exceptional.

We had the most perfect wedding day at Ashore Resort and Beach Club! The director of catering, Lisa Wilgus, was exceptional! She was so sweet, attentive, and did everything she could to accommodate our needs. Maria was also a huge help during the ceremony and reception. She made sure we had food, drinks, and assisted in transporting things back to our room at the end of the night. All of the staff at Ashore is wonderful! Our guests are still talking about how delicious the food was! The rooms were clean, beautiful, and have great views of the beach. We looks forward to staying at Ashore again in the near future!

My husband (!!!) and I got married at Ashore Resort and Beach Club on April 13th 2024 and it truly was a day to remember! The wind was working against us, so we moved the wedding from the beach to the dune deck and it was BEAUTIFUL ceremony space! The background of our vows being the dunes and the ocean was truly breathtaking and I give major kudos to the Ashore team for allowing us to make that day of change of ceremony location. If you’re looking for a venue that will blow your guests away, this is it. The food for the reception is some of the best (if not the best) wedding food I’ve ever had and the bartenders (shout out to Sam) were so friendly and seemed so excited to be a part of our special day. Ashore does their best to make brides and their tribes feel special, even ending the day with a special treat left in the room for my new husband and I. I would definitely recommend Ashore to any couple who wants a beautiful wedding!

They newly renovated it. We decided to host a potential rehearsal dinner as well as have rooms booked. They don't allow kids unfortunately. But the decorum is out of sight and the new rooms are spacious and cozy. The re-do was worth it! I got to take a tour inside. I recommend this place if your wedding will be childless.
