Brooke was great to work with. Everything was perfect!
We had our rehearsal dinner at the hotel, and also had a block of guest rooms. From the beginning, the hotel staff were very easy to work with and they were very helpful throughout. They also did some above-and-beyond kinds of things. For example, we had gift bags for guests, and they delivered them all at check in, and even let us know that we forgot one and helped us sub a bag in for that guest. The rehearsal dinner was lovely, and the staff were very attentive (in terms of getting empty plates, refreshing drinks, etc.). They also decorated the room exactly like we asked, and the food was very good.
The one negative, which shouldn't be a surprise about doing events in a hotel space, is that the rehearsal dinner was very expensive. They have sample menus and pricing on their website, so again, no shock there, but that's the one negative I can think of from our experience.
Other than that, the property was beautiful. Almost all of our guests were from out of state, so this resort-like property was a great way to introduce people to Alabama and make them all comfortable.
For people booking events here, if you are using a transportation company (which we did to get people from the hotel to the church, then to the reception, then back to the hotel) be sure to talk to them about how far out of town the hotel is. The company we used seemed to vastly underestimate how far from downtown Auburn and downtown Opelika it actually is.
One word....DON'T!
The grand ballroom at the Marriott at Grand National cannot be beat, for elegant indoor venues in this area. It truly is beautiful, and they have recently redone the space including carpet, wallpaper, furniture, etc. Having a wedding reception here was a fairy tale. My husband and I both have family and friends all over the country, so for those coming from out of town (which was almost everyone) the Marriott also became their home for the weekend. Located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Marriott feels like a peaceful retreat while still being only a short drive from downtown Auburn, and historic Opelika. The planning process went smoothly, and the wedding day itself was beautiful. Nelson, their event and catering manager, is eager to please and clearly takes pride in his work. The ballroom looked perfect. Our head table was on a stage with pipe and drape behind it, and it was definitely the focal point of the room. The linens, chairs, flowers and everything came together and looked better than I imagined. Best of all, the set up and clean up was totally handled by the staff at the Marriott. Overall, if you are looking for an elegant indoor space where you can relax and enjoy your wedding weekend, this is the place.
Wonderful place to visit very homey
Great hotel. Everyone is very friendly here
great
This place was very elegant. But very pricey
This venue was really amazing! Neither my husband or myself are from Alabama but we decided to have the wedding here in Auburn since I was in my last year of vet school and he was working on a PhD. We looked at several venues that would be able to house the size of both our families...we needed space. We had both the ceremony and the reception here and it was beautiful. They have a caterer so that is one less thing you have to worry about. It worked out really well and our families loved it because everyone stayed at the hotel and it was just like a destination wedding...in auburn. Everyone is very helpful and f you are busy like we were when planning the wedding, they do so much to help and are super understanding. After the wedding our friends hung out and got pretty wild around the hotel and no one seemed to care. Definitely the best hotel I have stayed at too, the rooms are nice and the Presidential suite is awesome! As far as pricing goes, we used the whole ballroom so there was a minimum revenue of 13,000...not sure what a smaller wedding would cost.
I've been to many events at the Auburn Marriott and they have all been superb. The cost was prohibitive for my budget.
