We recently got married at the Avalon, and the wedding itself was beautiful! The setting is stunning, and there aren't many venues like it in the area (trust me, we looked EVERYWHERE). The food was delicious, and I appreciated that they only had one wedding a weekend here.
However, the service that you receive while planning our wedding is quite terrible which is why I am giving it 3/5 stars. During the year of our planning process, it would take on average 10 days, and multiple followups for anyone to get back to me (even on a simple question). I kept thinking it would get better the closer in we got, and it did not. I was promised that someone would be there for the rehearsal to make sure everything went smoothly, and nobody I was working with to plan the wedding showed up, nor did they let me know ahead of time they wouldn't be able to make it. When spending so much money at this hotel over the course of 4 days, I expected much better service. I wish I would have been warned of this beforehand so my expectations were in line with the realities.
The overall hotel: Very cute with a lot of character, but in need of some serious updating - especially given the price of regular rooms. The bungalows were really great - make sure to request an updated one though. Definitely an opportunity for more training for people working the check-in desk, there was a lot of confusion when people checked in. Some people even given keys to the wrong rooms...
Pam, Dayanna, Michael, Serene, and anyone else at Avalon we may have missed: you gave us a phenomenal wedding weekend. We had a lot of moving parts, many guests (filled all 67 rooms), and lots of events. Every part was delivered and executed with attention and care. If you're looking for a hotel that will treat you with respect and a personal touch, the Avalon is the right place. This review echoes all the A+ reviews, because it is in their DNA to treat every guest/family member/bride/groom like a celebrity. Thank you for making us so happy!
If you’re looking for a wedding venue, book here, immediately. Beyond having stunning grounds and a great flow as you go from ceremony to reception, the customer experience was beyond exceptional. Pam, who sells weddings is an absolute gem. She is upbeat, was flexible and creative in making our budget work. She made us feel like we were her number one priority, always. After meeting her we were totally sold. You will communicate so regularly with the wedding team through the process, that you really want to trust and enjoy the people helping to plan and execute. The Avalon team made wedding planning completely stress free. I kept waiting for the “wedding stress” everyone talks about to creep up and it just didn’t.
Beyond Pam’s amazingness, every single person you meet at Avalon is SO helpful and happy. We visited the Avalon a few times in between booking the venue and our actual wedding, and even the valet knew our names! From the awesome valet guys, to front desk, to the wedding day team (thanks Dayanna!), The Avalon has seriously hired the perfect people for every role.
The day of our wedding was perfect. The bridal suite was a spacious and gorgeous setting to hangout and get ready in. They provided delicious food throughout the hair and makeup services so we felt taken care of. They kept us on time in a way that never felt rushed and gave us ample time for getting ready, photos, and even giving us 20 minutes of alone time post-ceremony to soak everything in. The vendors they referred us to all did their jobs flawlessly - shoutout to makeup by Keturah, DJ Chris Paul, Artisan Events for flowers and design, Jose for hair, Cakes by Roman, and Kathleen Geiberger for photography. Oh, and the food on our wedding night was insanely delicious!
We could not have chosen a more perfect spot for our wedding and are endlessly grateful to the entire team for helping us create the best weekend of our lives.
I just got married at the Avalon Palm Springs, and the experience was so amazing that I've decided to write my first ever Yelp! review to help get the word out.
The grounds are spectacular and stunning and gorgeous and beautiful and all the other superlatives you can think of. The pools are refreshing on a hot day, and there's actually good food and drink service poolside.
The staff members are amazingly friendly and go well out of their way to please. My group took over about half the hotel and all I kept hearing from everyone was how well they were being pampered throughout their stay. The bartender was happy to keep the bar open late upon request, and the nightwatchman was happy to direct us to the most secluded pools and hot tubs late at night so we wouldn't disturb the other guests. He genuinely seemed to enjoy that we were drinking drinks and having fun every night until past 4am.
As for the wedding itself, it exceeded all our expectations. Pam and Dayanna are amazing to work with -- so much so that we didn't need a wedding planner, we just paid a very small and reasonable fee to have them guide us and then provide a day-of coordinator. They were all amazing every step of the way. We felt we were in good hands all throughout the process, and that kept our stress level very low.
I still expected there to be a number of details to deal with on the day of the wedding, but that never happened. As a result, my bride and I were able to just kick back with our friends and family and have the time of our lives. I was stunned at how well everything flowed and how easy it was all way. That of course is a credit to all the hard work going on behind the scenes. Pam really knows her stuff and made it all happen for us.
This was the wedding of our dreams. In fact, it was even better than that, because I never dreamed I could have a wedding this beautiful and this much fun with so little stress. And when the bride and groom are enjoying themselves, that helps everyone else have a good time as well. The compliments keep rolling in from our guests about what an amazing weekend they all had. The food was terrific, every space for every event was gorgeous, and it all added up to a magical weekend.
My wife and I could not be happier, and we could not recommend the Avalon Palm Springs more strongly.
My now husband and I looked at all of the highly sought after Palm Springs venue and loved the feel of Avalon (at the time Viceroy). It was exactly what we had in mind for a glam Palm Springs wedding.
We booked the venue while it was still Viceroy and experienced the transition to the Avalon, had a few road bumps with employees. I stressed out a little bit about what we would do as there were some major breakdowns in communication. When one day I received a phone call from the kindest, most professional individual, Olivia Prescott. Olivia had recently moved back to Palm Springs and resumed her role as special events coordinator at Avalon. What a blessing!
Olivia changed our experience and helped us have the most AMAZING wedding ever. She was in constant contact with us leading up to the wedding. When we met for the food tasting she showed a genuine interest in our vision and expectation for the wedding weekend.
There are so many positive things to say, so here are some key points:
-The food by Chi Chi is amazing. I have been craving our wedding food since the wedding. Our wedding guests are still talking about the delicious food. I think it is rare that is a month past your wedding; you still get phone calls commenting on how delicious and perfect the food was.
- Cocktails. The bar at Avalon serves up tasty cocktails and our family/friends were eager to all hang out in the bar area. We never felt like there wasn't room for everyone to gather or that we were being too loud.
-The venue is beautiful. We loved having all of our friends and family at the hotel. Walking out of our villa and being next door to my sisters was so much fun. Guests are also loved how everything was easy to get to, walking from ceremony to cocktail hour, to reception was easy.
- The Avalon staff. Everyone was easy to work with and accommodating. I am a "type A" and never felt stressed because I knew Olivia and her team had things under control.
Everything was absolutely perfect! If something went wrong I had no idea , the staff were super helpful and Olivia, the head of events, was incredible and with us every step of the process.
We were able to have our ceremony outside and our reception inside, which is what we were looking for.
