My husband is Persian, and Barb helped us to seamlessly coordinate two separate ceremonies – an Episcopalian ceremony and a traditional Persian Sofreh Aghd. She also helped us find a beautiful location for the ceremonies and reception, suggested an incredible caterer with a talented chef, secured transportation and accommodations for our guests, and coordinated the timeline for the day with our many other vendors – just to provide a few examples. Having attended very few weddings ourselves, we were unsure of what to expect. Barb provided us with suggestions and feedback based on her previous experience but respected our decision if we chose to go in a different direction. Once my husband and I had agreed on our vision for the wedding, she worked hard with the other vendors to make it happen. She was quick to respond to every call and email, regardless of the day and time. It was such a comfort to know that we could come to her with any question or complication, and she would look for a solution with positivity and enthusiasm. She really treated us like family. On the day of the wedding, Barb brought a support team to help make sure everything went smoothly. We felt confident that they would be able to handle any issues we encountered. Barb truly is the one, the Fairy Godmother! From our first conversation, she was very professional, fun, helpful, and excited for our wedding. I always looked forward to each of our talks as I knew she was going to calm me down, help me cross things off a to-do list, or plan a little more and she was always as excited as I was. As the wedding day came closer, she and her team helped to ensure everything was in order and we would be stress free. During the venue walkthrough, rehearsal, and wedding day, Barb and her team ensured everything ran smoothing! Our families received many compliments about how wonderfully everything went and how great Barb's team was! ughter and her husband. My husband and I live in Ohio, the bride and groom live in LA and 99% of the guests came in from out of town, out of state and out of country. I could not have hosted this wedding without her. I was surprised that my daughter, who works in the fundraising and event planning field, wanted to hire an event planner. Best decision. Smart daughter. She hired Barbara because, compared to others she spoke to, Barbara LISTENED and explained how she would execute the ideas my daughter had for her day. Barbara came up with a decor plan using personal items that came from Ohio and complemented them with items from her own inventory. She was organized, calm, professional and always had the perfect solution for dilemmas that come up when working with limited budgets and managing 150 out-of-town guests. Our guests are still talking about how organized everything was, how friendly Barbara and her staff were, not realizing that she kept everything moving according to a very strict timeline. She knew all the ins and outs of having a ceremony at UVA Chapel, parking, security, traffic patterns, quick getaways and all our vendors were all familiar and comfortable dealing with her. It broke our hearts that Barbara had a very personal tragedy in the loss of her father the week before my daughter's wedding. At that point we understood that she needed to be with her family but she scheduled emails and calls late at night. It made an impression on me because my 93 year old father travelled from Australia for the wedding. She ELIMINATED any stress in the days before and on the wedding day. Her staff loaded up our cars with all the items we brought from Ohio and we drove off 10 minutes after the last guests had left! Priceless! Barbara became a friend with whom I hope to keep in touch. My daughter and I miss our contact with her.

Though my husband and I currently live in California, when we became engaged, we knew we wanted our wedding to be in Charlottesville as the town holds a special place in our hearts for various reasons. As I began planning, I quickly became overwhelmed by the challenges of organizing a wedding from a distance. I realized I was not familiar with local venues and vendors, and on top of that, a three hour time difference and miles of distance made coordinating phone calls and meetings difficult. We hired Barbara and everything changed. Barbara is very well connected and highly respected within the Charlottesville wedding industry. After our first conversation, I knew I was in good hands. Barbara spoke with me for over an hour—asking questions about myself, my style, my vision, and my family. Planning became fun as Barbara guided us every step of the way. Despite the distance between us, Barbara always made time for my calls and was always extremely prompt in her email responses. She is a busy lady, but she always made me feel like I was her first priority—I truly don’t know how she did it! Of course throughout the year there were times where we’d feel like we wouldn’t possibly get everything done or couldn’t possibly find a solution to a logistics problem. We’d call Barbara in a panic, and she would always have the answer. We’d hang up the phone feeling organized and relieved. We even had a catchphrase we used throughout planning—“I freaking love Barbara”. This was used in text, email and phone conversations with my mother and my husband all year long. She had a solution for everything, and we “freaking loved her” for it. I am admittedly a “type A” person who also has a lot of ideas—a handful of a combination! Barbara helped me edit and worked with me to execute an event that was elegant, cohesive, and more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. We are forever grateful to Barbara and to her incredible team for working so hard to create such a perfect day for us. Debra, Carmen, Lauren, Shelly and the rest of the Barb Wired staff took such care and paid such close attention to every last detail. Through the hustle and bustle of the day, they were always smiling and ready to jump in and assist with whatever was needed. The wedding truly was flawless, and I know everything ran so smoothly because of the hard work of dedicated and passionate people. My husband and I were able to enjoy our guests and relax at our reception knowing Barbara and her team were taking care of everything behind the scenes. This was especially appreciated as many of our guests traveled to Charlottesville from out of state or from overseas. Seeing Barbara the morning of my wedding was like seeing a friend. I was so happy to see her and have her with me. Aside from being an incredible event planner, therapist :) and voice of reason, Barbara is a lovely, warm, caring person. Particularly in the last couple of months, Barb and her staff were absolute lifesavers, coordinating all our vendors' details and saving us innumerable headaches. The day-of coordination was seamless, and it was a huge relief to be able to tell the guests who came to ask us for logistical details, "just ask the lady with the clipboard--she's the boss." rs in the final 2 months pre-wedding. It was one of the best decisions I made throughout the whole planning process. Shelly Su of Barb Wired helped coordinate arrival times for vendors, floor plans, timelines, etc. There was so much she took care of those last few weeks that I have no idea how I would've put it all together without them! When problems arose, Shelly and her assistant Morgan didn't even break a sweat, and instead took the initiative to try to fix it (florist issues...) and I hardly knew anything was wrong. They kept us in line with the timeline and they were flexible if changes needed to be made, like postponing father/daughter dance to circulate with our guests. During the honeymooon, all my husband and I could talk about was how absolutely perfect the wedding day was, and we know it wouldn't have been as smooth without Shelly and Morgan. I seriously do not know what I would've done without them and cannot thank them enough. Thanks, Shelly and Morgan!!

started planning, I knew I needed some support to make sure all the details were taken care of, especially as we got closer to our date. We moved to NC and were planning from a distance, so it was great to have Barb there to double check everything and make sure all the vendors knew where to be when. I knew a lot of the vendors, but was working on a small budget so she worked with me to get creative and figure out how to have our dream wedding on the budget we actually had and was able to recommend vendors when the people I had originally thought of were unable on our day. On our wedding day, everyone was able to be so relaxed and my husband was astonished when we arrived to our reception how well everything came together and that everything was set up without us having to take time during the day to set out any signs/napkins/etc. Barb, Iris, and the team were amazing :) They were so sweet and helpful! We had a traditional Indian Hindu wedding, which comprised of a Sangeet (Rehearsal Dinner/ Dinner-Dance Party), Wedding Ceremony, and Reception. There were a lot of moving parts and given the size and remote locations (gorgeous venues!! that Barb helped us pick!) we were able to put together the most intricate plan for a wedding! Barbara's calm demeanor made all of the events go through smoothly. She worked through any last-minute changes and pressure gracefully without worrying me, the bride, or my family. She handled any obstacles and came up with solutions on her own and then informed me of the challenge and the solution afterwards so that I was in the loop and didn't have to worry at all! She doesn't have a "day-of" plan, so we hired her for the "month-of", which meant we got her help with some of the vendor coordination and logistical concerns in the month or so run up to the wedding. She saved our butts on transportation and helped guide us through things (like the ceremony details) that neither of us had a clue about. She made both the rehearsal and the wedding day go very smoothly, and we had no issues in large part thanks to her. It is hard to say all that she did for us, but I think that the low level of stress we both felt (and my mother-in-law felt) on the day of the wedding was a direct result of her guidance and help through the process. Iris is fabulous over email - very responsive and organized. I am very Atype and was initally concerned about being able to let go.... When we got a few weeks out, I did not have a single doubt.
