We had my daughter's wedding at Barbwire & Lace in late July 2023. I planned the wedding from out of state (California). Carole was very helpful and responsive to all my questions and out-of-state visits during the 7 months of planning. She was always kind and professional, as well as helpful in making suggestions for the wedding ceremony, floor plan, and decorations. Her creativity and effort were much appreciated in helping us put together the final touches on the wedding day. She was flexible with the schedule, our needs, and our requests. She allowed us to bring in our own items, such as the wedding ceremony arch and cake stand that my husband made for our daughter's wedding, to complete the perfect rustic look my daughter wanted. The upgrades on the property, such as the added flagstone where we had the ceremony and the new flagstone in front of the bride/groom's rooms were nicely done. Carole has the process down and she made it easy for us and our vendors, such as the DJ and Fiore' Woodfire Pizza truck we had serving food.
On the day of the wedding, Carole and Heather were present for any questions or needs we had but were not intrusive. We had a young adult crowd with lots of energy and it didn't rattle them. It was a perfect balance of available, yet invisible (off to the side). The parking area was great and the use of the whole venue site, including the upstairs was a plus. Our guests were blown away at the beautiful views, the care taken of the venue, and what a hidden gem it was. Most had no idea it existed and couldn't say enough positive things about it!
I want to thank Carole for all of her tireless answers to my text questions, her contributions, her flexibility, and her patience in making my daughter's wedding all she could have wished for! It was a magical day for all of us!
I am not the type of person to easily get upset at businesses and write bad reviews, but I hope that future brides see this and go elsewhere. It is a beautiful location but the woman in charge completely ruins it. My sister had her wedding here over the summer and Carole brought her to tears multiple times through her treatment of the couple and guests. She barked orders at everyone (including children) and micromanaged every step of the way. She wanted us to give her leftovers of the wedding dinner, which I found wildly inappropriate. One of the bridesmaids at this wedding did the calligraphy for our signs-Carole pulled all of her chalkboard signs that she had in storage and made the bridesmaid rewrite all of them for her since she was so talented at it. Carole took advantage of her and did not pay her to do all this work, and worse, this happened DURING the reception. The bridesmaid was absent for most of it (since she was being put to work), and missed almost the entire dinner. Carole also suddenly demanded we take all of our own trash at the end of the night when we were about to leave (which was NOT stated in the contract and caused unnecessary stress for the bride and groom). I was appalled at this woman’s behavior and I hope that other brides will read this and not put themselves through this. There are plenty of other, far better venues out there. Steer clear of this place.
This place is phenomenal! The staff is amazing to work with they care and make sure you have everything you need! St my wedding 9/29/18 she was able to sneak me away to look at my wedding and relax for a moment. She made sure I had food and water throughout the night. The place is beautiful rustic feel and so pretty throughout the day.
The most beautiful venue with no fuss. Carol has everything you need and more... I hardly had to provide any of my own decorations aside from flowers... if you are looking for a lil country chic with a garden background this is the venue for you!!! Old town saloons, antiques, and old trucks to top things off!
We loved this place!
This wedding was amazing!
Carole is a dream to work with! She bends over backwards to ensure that the weddings are unique to the individual and each are amazing! She takes pride in ensuring her venue is in tip top shape for each and every event. Her decorations are amazing and one of a kind. Everyone that books is treated with the most respect. We love Barbwire and Lace!!!
Barbwire and Lace is a must see. There is no venue that comes close to its versatility, beauty and allure. Carole is there to help you every step of the way with great suggestions for everything from a large formal event to a cozy gathering replete with pastoral charm.
My wife, Robyn, and I had our baby shower at Barbwire and Lace. Robyn insisted that we have two gatherings; one for her and the women and one for me and the men. She and Carole planned everything together. I knew the ladies would retire to the formal dining hall to nosh on tasty treats and play baby shower games but I had no idea what I would be doing when I headed to Barbwire and Lace.
I had been hoping to get my part over with quickly and was plotting my escape. Then I stepped onto the property and with one look at the arcadian panorama I fell under its spell. Mesmerized I was “magically transported back in time.”
In my opinion we men definitely came out on top as we had the run of the saloon. Carole was kind enough to let us stroll through her exquisite gardens and explore the areas where she stores her antiques. You would not believe the treasures I discovered. She has everything from Native American art and clothing, to an eclectic array of collectibles and re-purposed items including a vintage fire truck. I have heard the term shabby chic but hate to use it to describe her heirlooms because there is nothing shabby about the time and effort that has gone into masterfully restoring each piece. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I could have spent days immersed in all the wonders there. To my chagrin my wife had to drag me away when the celebration was over. I recommend Barbwire and Lace as a venue to all my family and friends because I want any excuse to go back, look around and enjoy the splendor.
My husband and I got married in June of 2017. We started talking to Carol in April of 2016 as we started to shop around for venues and we booked the venue in July of 2016. Carol was phenomenal in the reservation process and anything that we needed for our big day. She was incredibly responsive and she let us come down to see the venue as many times as we needed to be ready for the big day. I am leaving a negative review because when our big day came, Carol and her assistant Heather were unprofessional and it was not at all the service we paid for. I am not sharing this to be dramatic. I am sharing an honest review of our experience. It is long, but I want it to be clear why I am leaving a negative review. Here are the reasons that I say they were unprofessional.
1. We visited the venue one last time before the wedding to decide last minute details and agreed we would arrive the night before the wedding to do set up. When we arrived the night before, Carol said that she was not expecting us and that is not what we had agreed on. We arrived around 9:45pm (she had said we had to arrive after 9:30pm for set up) and Heather gathered our party (without speaking to me first) to let them know that they had to be quiet and that lights would be shut off at 11pm (we had to set up tables for 250+ people).
2. Carol had been made aware that we would be renting a dance floor for the wedding on Saturday and that pick up was scheduled for Monday. She said this was not a problem. After the dance floor was set up, she told our families it could not stay where it was set up until Monday and that we would have to figure something out. It would have been nice for her to tell us this earlier so we could have planned ahead.
3. Carol had made us aware that music had to follow the rules of the residential area her venue is in. Because of this, we scheduled the DJ to end music at 9:30pm, well within her restrictions. Carol harassed our DJ before 9:30pm for playing the music too loud (it was at a 6) and told him that if he didn't bring it down she would shut off the power. After he brought it down to a 4, she came directly to ME on OUR wedding day and told me if he didn't bring it down she would shut off power. Carol had already been made aware that the people she needed to talk to for questions or concerns were our families. Instead she came to my husband and I as we were about to cut the cake to pose a threat.
4. There were two men from Carol's staff that were around on our wedding day. I am not sure who they were, but they were dressed unprofessionally and wandered around our party. When we proceeded to the cake cutting, the two men decided it would be a good time to make some repairs to the venue and started to operate machinery behind where we were. You could hear it in our pastor's speech and in our video. My family had to ask them to stop.
I am sad that I have to leave this review because I really had high hopes for our experience with Carol. However, after the big day and after a racial comment expressed by Carole on the day of the wedding, I knew I had to share it. We paid good money to have a perfect day and that is not what Carol and Heather gave us.
Carole is so fun to work with! She took care of all the little details for us! You won't have to worry about anything when you have your wedding here.
All of the decorations are available, on site. If you're looking for Shabby-Chic that's what she has. Chandelier's and pearls, barn doors and horses, a fireplace, tons of planted flowers plus the beautiful Provo mountains as the back drop. There's not another venue like it. It's cozy and modern at the same time and very affordable.
Best wedding venue in the state of Utah. They helped me bring my dream wedding to life! Best price too!!
