Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe

We found Basnights through the Knot while searching for caterers for our 2021 Outer Banks wedding. Throughout the process of planning our wedding, Maggie and Victoria were tremendous to work with. Despite this being a destination wedding for us, a planned trip to the Outer Banks in 2020 allowed us to do a tasting at their beautiful restaurant. Everything we tasted was magnificent and doing the tasting was truly helpful in finalizing the menu for our big day. For our cocktail hour we decided on the following Hors d’oeuvres: Shrimp and Grits cups, Chicken and Waffles, and Bacon and Eggs (Deviled eggs with a candied bacon jam). We were going for a Southern theme with the cocktail hour menu and all of these choices ended up being true crowd pleasers. For the event we went with a more traditional wedding menu: herb roasted chicken, steak tips, pasta primavera, roasted red potatoes, green beans and rice pilaf. Overall, we and all our guests were very satisfied with the menu and we were happy to be eating leftovers all week! The staff in attendance for the event was also truly wonderful. We also used Basnights for our bartenders and they did a magnificent job of keeping the drinks flowing all night! The catering staff was very attentive and did a wonderful job of keeping the reception area very clean for us. We’d highly recommend Basnights for anyone planning an Outer Banks wedding and we definitely plan on stopping in to The Lone Cedar Cafe on future OBX trips!

Our catering experience with Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe was phenomenal! We rented a house on the beach in Corolla and had a beach wedding on a cold, windy day. After the ceremony, an employee walked down to the beach with a plate of warm appetizers for the wedding party while they waited on pictures. Dinner was delicious and our guests were impressed. The service was so polite and professional and it was great for our budget. We now visit the restaurant every anniversary. We could not recommend a better company for catering!

Punctual, professional, and great food. We had them deliver to our beach house rental where we had the reception, and they did a great job of setting up and getting everything ready for us. The food was great! (Personal favorite, southern bbq fried chicken).

From the day we met at the OBX wedding expo, Maggie and the Lone Cedar catering team were nothing short of amazing. Throughout the entire planning process, Maggie answered all of our questions promptly, was super patient with us during our menu selection process (have you LOOKED at the amount of options they have to customize your big day?!), and was extremely kind and accommodating when we had to make some last minute adjustments to meals. And our families, even weeks after the wedding, are trying to figure out how they can replicate the Parmesan encrusted chicken with cream sauce!! Thank you so very much for being a part of our special day! Even though the main restaurant is further south from where we normally stay in OBX, we definitely plan on going out of our way to eat the amazing food again (perhaps the chicken AND Asian fried shrimp?!) and bring us right back to all the good memories! We hired Lone Cedar for our reception dinner and everything was perfect – we opted for their crab dip, caprese skewers and mini fried chicken and waffles (so good!) for the cocktail hour and pulled pork, steak tips, potatoes and green beans with corn bread and rolls buffet style for the main dinner. The food was delicious and the entire serving team highly efficient. I worked directly with Victoria and Maggie, both of whom were very responsive and helpful in making decisions to narrow down our menu choices. I’d highly recommend the Lone Cedar team for any of your catering needs!

I am so happy that we went with Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe as our caterer for our brunch reception! They went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect! One of the special requests that my now husband had was to have fruit in cracked coconut shells and they were able to do that for us! Everyone raved about them! The food was so delicious and the service was impeccable!

First i will say that in my opinion there is no better place for fresh local food than Basnight's and I visit every trip I take to OBX. They were the obvious choice for catering my reception, but i never thought i could make it work with my budget. Their catering manager fielded probably a dozen email throughout the past year from me as I tried to figure out what I could afford, how I could make a small afternoon hors d'oeuvre reception work and fit in my budget. Each time, I was answered promptly, professionally and cordially, even though I felt like a pest they never made me feel like one. Finally, once I got a grasp on what it was I wanted, they gave me options, and we did take out trays. I was fully prepared to have to transfer those items to nicer service pieces at the reception hall and even had family on stand by to help with that. The food was so scrumptious and so beautifully arranged there was absolutely no need!! We supplemented our selections with a few family favorites and made our own cupcakes. I whole heartedly recommend Basnight's whether you can (ideally) have them do a total catering package, or even if you have then prepare a few key pieces, they will treat you very well and will absolutely please the palette!!

My Husband and I have always loved to eat at this restaurant, so when we were planning our wedding it was one of the first options we explored. They have a large menu with a wide array of options to meet many different tastes and budgets. They were absolutely wonderful to communicate and work with and the food was beyond delicious! Food was the second most expensive part of our wedding so we really felt like there was a lot riding on it- they did not disappoint! Our guests raved about the food all night and have continued to talk about it in the weeks following our wedding. I even had a family member email me a month later seeing if I could get a recipe for one of the appetizers. It was a great comfort knowing it was money well spent! We also ended up doing cupcakes from Lone Cedar which we weren't able to taste test in advance which was nerve-wracking but they were also delicious and beautiful. I highly recommend Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe. They are wonderful communicators, kind people, and make delicious food.

OMG! That's about all I can say. The food was so perfect, the staff was fantastic and Caroline and Victoria made the entire process a breeze! You MUST have them cater your next event. Your guests will rave and no one will walk away hungry. I couldn't be happier. The team was just as amazing as the food. Thank you for making this an easy process and an easy choice for future events!
