I will start by saying, the venue and grounds are beautiful. If I was basing it solely on that, I would give it five stars. Madison was great throughout the wedding planning process and even worked with me on the price of the venue when I booked.
However, I have to take stars off due to the service and amenities of this venue. To start, I paid an additional fee to have access to the venue the day before for set up as well as to get in an hour earlier the day of the wedding. When we got there, we were told that we could turn the AC down as much as we want as long as we turned it back up before we left. We did this. Three people specifically checked that we did this, myself included. The next evening during the reception, after a second 90 degree day in a row, the AC was locked at 75 and we were told that we were not able to adjust it due to "using too much AC the day before". The reception, where everyone was eating and dancing, stayed pretty hot the entire night.
I would also caution for future brides that it is required to have the second floor completely cleared out the same night of the wedding. This was weird for us because we rented all of the rooms on the third floor, leading to us taking everything to the third floor, then back down the next morning. It feels like there is room for flexibility here, because you're not even able to access the venue until 11:00am if you are hosting an event there.
The bar was also where we saw some issues with organization. There was no consistency in what was served and the price for those things. Some guests were able to order shots, while others were told the bar didn't do that. Guests were charged a different price for the same drink ordered an hour apart.
Included in our rental, five of the nine Inn rooms are included, with the option for us to rent the other four out of pocket if we'd like. This seemed really wonderful to us as we are from out of town and so was all of our bridal party members. As the bride, myself and one other bridesmaid booked two rooms the night before the wedding to make sure we were there on time. The morning of the wedding, I was told by the guy in the Inn office that I was not allowed to use the kitchenette to set up some breakfast items because "other guests were still here". I am other guests, I paid to be here the night before.
The rooms themselves also struggled with amenities. There were no mugs or cups for the tea and coffee that were laid out in some of the rooms (this was not in all of the rooms). There were no wine glasses to drink the wine you purchased from the winery. They lock the refrigerator in the kitchenette. The AC was also locked at 75 in all of the rooms the night of the wedding due to the amount of AC that was used the night before.
This venue offers a coordination package. I did not pay for this and maybe if I did, the service would've been different. There was an overall lack of organization and consistency in what was offered and who we spoke to. I feel like there was a lot of attention paid to certain things, but not the right things. The bridal salon was beautiful, but there were no glasses or mugs in the Inn rooms. Pay an extra (substantial) fee to have early access to our venue, but don't use any of the resources in the building or you'll be penalized the next day? It doesn't make any sense.
The grounds are beautiful. But be aware of when things feel too easy.
We cannot say enough good things about this venue! They have options for just about any kind of wedding space you can think of. the bridal salon is huge! and can accommodate 4 girls getting ready all at once with space to spare. the inn and rooms are beautiful and the bridal suite could be its own apartment. best of all Madison and the staff were outstanding! Madison made the planning and day of a smooth operation for myself and my husband, she is a dream! we plan to go back, even if it is just for an overnight stay. we got compliments all night about how beautiful the venue was, and all the credit goes to them. thank you all so much for everything!
Incredible venue! So much beauty in the venue itself that my decorations and ceremony looked insanely beautiful. Great staff and amazing inn that made my wedding day/night go so smoothly. The bridal salon is HUGE and has tons of mirrors and natural light for getting ready. We did our ceremony outside, with a backup room inside just in case it rained. Great venue!
I’m truly at a loss for words as to how to sum up how incredible this venue is. It’s stunningly beautiful, haunted, rustic, the staff is amazingly kind, and the photo ops at this location are endless and breathtaking. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better location and experience.
The worst of the worst. Had the wedding scheduled for April 19th which of course it couldn't take place due to covid-19. They originally were refusing to give any type of refund what so ever. After it was pointed out to them that my final payment wasn't even due yet they did agree to refund that but wouldn't budge on the original payment. So even during a Pandemic they decided it was more important for them to keep my $1980 then return to it to the couple that couldn't have there dream wedding. I wouldn't recommend BELVOIR WINERY to anyone ever. THEY ARE THE WORST. Please let everyone know the type of business this place truly is.
I am SO glad we got married at Belvoir. Last year, they re-did the top two floors to create a perfect event space and inn with 9 rooms total. Everything was so easy; from the time we got to the rehearsal on Thursday until the time we woke up in our honeymoon suite on Saturday, we had no reason to even leave the property. It was amazing. Kristen was our amazing day-of coordinator and pre-planner - she was incredible! I loved working with her and she was so easy-going, she made me feel like everything was always under control. Thank you Belvoir for our perfect day!
This place is incredible! My husband and I wanted to get married some where elegant, timeless and fun. We were impressed with the website and the photos we saw online, and that was nothing in comparison to how blown away we were the first time we visited. When we reached the gates of the property, it looked like we were driving into a different century. Build it 1900, the historic main house has been completely renovated and accurately restored. The Belvoir helped us nail the "Secret Garden/ Garden Party/Winery" wedding theme we were going for.
Our guest watched us exchange our vows and officially become husband and wife under the beautiful Italian marble Gazebo, located on the grounds in front of the main house. After our ceremony, our guest headed inside for cocktail hour and our reception, which was held on the 2nd floor in the Grand Ballroom. We ate, we danced and we made memories I will cherish for a lifetime. All of the photos and videos turned out AMAZING.
The day was truly perfect, and I must attribute a lot of that to the magic of the venue (and our amazing photography- Kaye Ness Photography and videography- Tower Studios teams !) If you want to get married in a unique and beautiful, located right outside of Kansas City, look no further!
Also, they have an Inn on the 3rd floor, so my husband and I, our parents, and most of the wedding party stayed night and had breakfast the next day!! This place is a hidden gem!!
When we originally visited Belvoir Winery, it was an icy winter day, but the owner still came out and gave us the venue tour regardless of the circumstances. The renovations were still in process, but I could see their vision for the venue side of their business and I immediately loved it. This venue is gorgeous, spacious and has everything you need right there! We got married in May, so did the ceremony at the gazebo and the reception on the second floor. The second floor also has an amazing bridal suite and grooms room to get ready in, and a back room for catering. I loved the venue because there is timeless beauty and natural lighting all throughout, so you don't have to worry too much about going over the top with decor, flowers, light rentals, etc. Our pictures are amazing because of the enormous trees and views outside, as well as the historic and well-lit areas on the inside. This venue is worth every penny because of the beauty and because it includes so much (linens, tables, chairs, ceremony/reception space, bartender/alcohol, etc. etc.) which minimizes the amount of things you have to think about or rent (a positive during wedding planning). There is even space on the third floor for you to stay the night of your wedding. The event coordinator, Kristen, is wonderful. She was always a phone call or email away to answer questions, and was ok with us stopping by from time to time to chat about wedding things. On the wedding day everything went so smoothly. It rained that morning and was supposed to rain and storm all day. We had a back up plan to do the wedding inside, and Kristen kept coming back into the bridal suite to share the forecast and decide if we should move the wedding. The rain held off and the whole day was amazing, but the great part is that we had such a good plan and Kristen was ready for anything. If I could do it all over again I would most DEFINITELY get married at Belvoir. I would recommend this space to anyone!
Everything about Belvoir was perfect. The people I worked with were wonderful and always quick to help. The venue is so gorgeous and rich with history. We got tons of compliments. We didn't need to do much to decorate because it is all so beautiful. There were so many options for locations for photographers to get great shoots. The price is worth it, especially with the size of the venue. Guests were able to explore and sit in a quieter area while we danced in another room. Everyone loved, especially me!
This is a great place for an outdoor wedding with an indoor reception. I had the wedding at the marble gazebo, wine & cheese hour on terrace under the shade, went into a tent for dinner and finally inside for cake cutting/dancing/speeches. I highly recommend having live music play during your ceremony, you can get a portable sound system through Belvoir (free/included in your price), but the cellist/violinist/floutist is wonderful. It was picture perfect and they were very accommodating! This place was about a year old when I had my wedding, they're about 2 years old now.
I had so many compliments from people on our wedding venue. We held the ceremony and reception here. Great price. Great staff! And the wine was good also!! Truly love this place.
I had my ceremony here, it was a beautiful space outside. However, they didn't hold up to everything in our contract. They were supposed to close the gate, so there wouldn't be traffic during the ceremony, but they let some cars through. They were very unorganized, on our wedding day we had to remind them of several things that were in our contract.
I had my wedding reception at the Belvoir and I was very happy. The staff made sure that everything ran smoothly from our first walk through to the end of our reception. The building has such an amazing history and the style fit my husband and I so well. And the wine of course was delicious.
From the first time we went to the Belvoir up until the day of our wedding the staff was always very courteous and helpful. We made several trips to the winery during our six months of planning and each visit was better than the last. We love that the place where we got married is a place we can re visit for a night out with friends or a special occasion. Rachel the Event coordinator was wonderful. She met with us several times and always answered my questions how little or small with a smile. The entire staff worked hard to make our day exactly what we wanted. The day itself was absolutely gorgeous and everything was set up the way we had envisioned. Thank you to Rachel, Jessie, Dr. Bean and all of the fabulous staff that helped to make our day spectacular!
We were very disappointed with the professionalism we received with such a gorgeous setting. We had problems beginning a year in advanced when another couple were booked on our date; we were told the other couple were "flexible" with their date. It kept spiraling from there. As their first year as an event venue we expected some bumps; every issue we came across was because we brought it to their attention, all the way down from not having enough glassware to a nonusable kitchen that we were promised would be fully operational order- they suggested that we use microwaves for their "open non-restricted catering" option. I asked about catering a year in advance, "no restictions"- 5 weeks before the wedding we found out that wass not entirely true and the next suggestion was to get a temporary license and call a party rental service to keep the food warm. Three weeks before the wedding I found out that there was another wedding when we were suppose to have our rehearsal- I had to go to them about that as well. Even the event cordinator who was suppose to be taking the time to talk with me gave us a limit so she could continue on with her personal plans. When I told this to the management the response was, "but she stayed with you for almost an hour right?"- When I'm paying someone that much of my budget for my wedding, I expect their time, courtesy, professionalism and a desire to have their venue succeed. I'm giving them a two star becuase every time I went to them with a concern, I got replies that continued along the lines of "We just need to keep moving...I can't change what's already been done... Lets continue into the future" How about an "I'm sorry and we're going to make sure there are no more surprise."
Belvoir Winery served as the location for both our ceremony and reception. Though the building and gazebo are beautiful, we definitely hit some snags in the planning process. This is a both a new winery and event space and it seems like the staff has taken on a bit too much to keep up with all of their clients appropriately. The perk of using Belvoir Winery is that you can basically do whatever you want with your event... however, keep your copy of your contract handy as they may try to change rules and policies on you during your process. If you are an assertive and forward bride who knows what you want to do, Belvoir might be the place for you---however if you're looking for a venue that knows what their doing and will look out for your best interest along the way, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere.
