Benedict’s Plantation is a ballroom wedding venue in Mandeville, LA. Set against 200 acres of natural landscape and Lake Pontchartrain, the views are unparalleled. Benedict’s Plantation offers three unique sites. The main house is ideal for smaller gatherings and can accommodate up to 100 guests. The layout and architecture of this building will leave everyone in awe. For bigger celebrations, you can choose the main ballroom. This venue is spacious with a capacity of 350 guests. It features grand crystal chandeliers and large windows that bring in a lot of natural light. You can book both spaces if you’d like to celebrate with a larger guest list of 400 upwards. With the paved stone pathways, blooms, and large white columns that frame an arch, the gardens make for a perfect backdrop to host your ceremony. The resident team is at your beck and call to ensure the event goes seamlessly. They will take care of setup and cleanup and will be able to supply decor, centerpieces, and audio equipment if needed. You can also request other items such as a chocolate fountain and tents. They also offer several wedding packages to suit your budget and requirements. The in-house catering team can customize a menu for you as per your wish. You can select from an array of delectable delights to satisfy you and all those who attend. You can also choose from among the following serving styles: hors d’oeuvres, family-style service, plated service, food stations, and buffets. Benedict’s Plantation will pamper you on your big day.

The guests loved it along with all the other food - charbroiled oysters, crab cakes, shrimp, alligator, couchon de lait, etc, etc. So many people made a point of saying the food was GREAT! The ballroom comfortably accommodated our 200 guests, allowing them to see and participate in everything - dancing, cake cutting, photo booth. The staff were attentive prior to and all throughout the evening. Ms Cathy checked in with us all night to make sure we had absolutely everything we needed - and particularly made sure we always had a drink in our hand and food available (for the bride, groom and both families). She kept the evening on track to be sure that we enjoyed every experience. She’s incredible. We did not want it to end! Thank you Benedict’s! I wish we could do it again this weekend! So much fun!

pandemic I might add, Mrs. Cathy was always a phone call or text away to reassure me and answer any and all of my questions. On my wedding day she made sure the night ran smoothly and made sure that myself, my groom, and our families as well as our guest were well taken care of. tract. The actual wedding itself was phenomenal—we had a great time and our band kept the party going. However, there were quite a few setbacks. My dress was bustled incorrectly the whole night. After them working on it for 15 minutes we decided it wasn’t worth wasting our reception time on. This is something that a wedding venue should have under control. Several people after the wedding stated that they had to go hunt down both the wedding and grooms cake. We had a bubbly bar and hand passed Bloody Mary’s on our contract—neither of which we had at the wedding. We were supposed to have sliders and fries handed out at the end of our wedding—we, the bride and groom, never received one. We both ended up going to the bar several times to get our drinks because our person assigned to take care of us was MIA 80% of the night. Both of our parents were fending for themselves as well as they were assigned the same individual as us. When my mom called to inquire about this on Monday she spoke to Lauren about it. Lauren called myself, the bride, and got my side as well. After not hearing back, we called again on Wednesday and discussed the same issues with Lauren and how poor the service was. When we brought up the passed Bloody Mary’s, she said “we even bought the bacon salt rim for it.” That doesn’t mean that they were made and served unfortunately. My mom then wanted to speak to Shirley, the owner, and they stated that she was in the hospital and that they would leave her a message. Lauren suggested, in the meantime, that we speak to Shirley’s daughter, Nicole. She called my mom from her personal cell phone and we were in the car and Nicole didn’t even let my mom speak and instead was an irate, unprofessional businesswoman. When my mom spoke of the lack of service that even she got, Nicole then yelled “well I’m sorry that we didn’t go tap on your shoulder on the dance floor and get in your face and ask you if you needed anything.” From the very start, she immediately went into defense mode, which only proves further the poor service we got. It’s a shame because Shirley probably doesn’t even know to this day the horrible service experience we had because Nicole is masking it from her mother. Never would we recommend a place operated like this.

Champagne was poured as guests walked in and Bloody Marys were available as well
Cake was cut and placed as fast as we could. It was also passed around to your guests at the tables as well as placed on the table to be picked up. There was still cake left on the table at the end of the evening. A vendor stated that there was so much cake out that he asked if he could have a piece to take home. We got to go boxes for family members who asked to take cake home to family members that could not make it to the wedding.
We are sorry that it took your coordinator a bit to find your bustle. Every dress is different and since we are not aware where the placement is on the dress it sometimes take a moment to find the hooks
Shirley is in the hospital at the moment and has been since you called. I was only trying to address the issues that you presented as I am now. I apologize if you thought I was being defensive. I was apologizing by saying that since I was the one passing the end of the night burgers and fries I should have approached you and I was Truly sorry for that. We usually do not bring food onto the dance floor to pass. Again I do apologize for not asking you if you wanted any since you were dancing
I never yelled at anyone throughout the conversation. I asked for your side of the story and your mom refused quite loudly and hung up saying she would go to social media. We asked if you wanted any compensation, but you declined saying you just thought we needed to know. You also stated that you had a great time.
We are shocked at this review and hearing this as it looked like your wedding was so much fun. I was at the event as well as Lauren and no one made any indication that they needed anything or were unhappy. The room was beautiful and set up to your specific requests. We ordered a tent because of the rain at no cost to you., greatly discounted the raw/grilled oyster bar, hosted a private tasting for six guests, let the florist come in five hours ahead at no additional charge, let the band come in early at no additional charge, Purchased specialty liquor for your parents at no additional Cost. Your bridal attendant that evening has never had a complaint and is well liked by everyone The bar staff stated that the bridal attendant was at the bar numerous times during the evening getting drinks for the bridal party. If fact, a video online of the wedding has her in the background handing drinks to the bride and groom on the dance floor
You also stated that you never received a bridal bag of food and cake, but the Royals Royce driver stated he handed your husband the blue bridal bag at the hotel. Your mother stated that she did not receive any food to go home with. Lauren handed her a box of food, made especially for them, and they handed her a very large tip for the staff.
We feel that your actions made by verbal statements that night are completely contradictory to your review. We have also had time to review the video footage from that evening. We have video of staff walking up to you, your mother, the grooms parents, and grandparents with a tray of cake. We have video of the burgers and fries being served. We have video of the bar the entire evening showing the bridal attendant getting drinks for you and your family We have video of your bridal attendant, time stamped, serving you throughout the evening. We welcome you to come view the video. There was not one indication that evening that anyone was unhappy. We have spoken to all the staff and vendors Who were present see if we missed something and they all indicated that it was a beautiful evening. We cannot change your opinion and are truly sorry that you feel this way, but we provided everything that was promised and have faith that everyone had a great time

ude, takes forever to get back to you, and is completely condescending. When we initially met her back in early August, we were immediately taken aback by how she nor her coworker were wearing a mask but yet claimed they are following CDC guidelines. If you were following CDC guidelines, you’d be wearing a mask around us because we do not live in your immediate household and it’s just respectful considering we don’t know where you’ve been or vice versa.
Due to COVID, my fiancé and I both lost our jobs and needed to cancel our venue to reduce costs. That and we both have autoimmune diseases and don’t feel safe having our wedding of 100+ guests. Were they understanding? Not at all. Not very surprising though.
Then Lauren tells us we can use the deposit towards catering when we initially met with her. We drove 45 minutes for her to tell us she didn’t say that and then says she doesn’t understand what we don’t understand. We are not choosing to not have our wedding here because we want to but because a global pandemic happened and we’ve lost our jobs and family members due to this stupid virus. And when we mentioned that, she had the nerve TO LAUGH AT US.
But you would think with everything going on in the world, they’d be a bit understanding but they are not.
Had I known I wouldn’t be working with Cathy throughout the rest of this process, definitely would not book. I don’t not recommend this place.

You then waited until August 2020 to attempt to cancel using Covid as an excuse. You claimed that you both lost your ...
jobs and could no longer pay for the wedding. You then advised me that you could not come in and meet to discuss the event because you had to work and that your fiancée was on disability ( and had been before Covid).
You also attempted to move the wedding to another location. The contract clearly states that the retainer is non refundable. We refunded every wedding deposit that requested due to Covid related reasons. You became angry when you didn’t get your request and started cursing out our staff and even threw a pen at a member of our team
We would have done everything to work with you, but waiting until two months before left us with a date we could not fill. We had over 20 request for that date ( five of which came in after March 2020)

perfect, my list was pretty much all from their list of recommendations and everything was flawless. celebration. Each time, the staff and owner, Shirley Deluzain, were extremely helpful and attentive, easy to work with, and very accommodating!
The renovations to the ballroom are absolutely beautiful and created an extremely elegant venue for our reception. The gardens are also beautiful and were great for outdoor pictures!
Our vendors, including the bakery, the florist, the photographer, and the DJ, all commented on how accommodating Benedict’s was and how easy they were to work with. The grandparents of the bride have been to many receptions over the years and truly appreciated the extra-special personal attention from the staff at Benedict’s during the reception.
The food was delicious and the menu selection was extensive. We enjoyed bacon wrapped shrimp, catfish, crab cakes, gumbo, and beignets.... just to name a few.
We are looking forward to many more family celebrations at Benedict’s, as we have two more daughter's to get married!

They both walked me through every step of the way in the planning process and made sure they tailored every detail to my needs. Cathy was our day of attendant and she was with us from the second we pulled up in the limo until the last sparkler went off. She made sure we were taken care of throughout the night and that everything flowed smoothly. Most venues do not come with a day of attendant and even if you hire one, you will probably not get the first class treatment that we received. The food was amazing and our guests have not stopped raving over it! We were also sent home with food & champagne to enjoy with the family the next day. We had a big wedding with over 225 people and there was NEVER a line at the bar. These people are professionals and I have never seen a wedding flow this smoothly. finding a wedding venue that had everything I imagined on my Pinterest board there wasn't one. However, when I went to Benedict's to take a look because my step-father swore by this place I was not sold. Because it was not everything I had in mind. After meeting with Mrs. Shirley she asked me what my reservations where I told her I just imagined that I would marry my husband under a beautiful chandelier at sunset. There was not a flinch nor second thought when she instantly responded with "I will make this happen". In that moment I knew Benedict's was my venue. She was making my dream happen. There were other parts of Benedict's that i did not necessarily like but, Mrs. Shirley gave me the freedom to decorate and change things that were not part of what I envisioned. Which is not something you will find at just any venue. Mrs. Shirley was a stranger to me when I started wedding planning. Now I feel as if she is family. She seen I had a dream and a vision for what I wanted for our wedding day. She did not knock it nor did she put limits on what that dream had to be she supported me in figuring how to make it happen. So the moral of my review is if you want a generic, depersonalized, no special treatment, nonnegotiable restrictions, no dream wedding, no real candles, wedding then Benedict's is not the place for you. Because at Benedict’s your wedding is their wedding. They want it to be everything you have dreamed and pinned to your wedding board. They want it to be YOUR day that they helped create. They want to know that they got to witness the best day of your life. I will forever be thankful for these lovely people and this beautiful place. It ended up raining that afternoon on our wedding day and Cathy and her staff reset the entire inside to accommodate for the wedding. It was gorgeous! They were so fast and efficient. rth shore and there was no contest. Benedict's was the only place that would accommodate all our needs (ok, more like wants). I wanted to bring in a couple of sofas to put in front of the fireplace (they have a fireplace!), they said no problem. I wanted to string some Christmas lights from the ceiling, they said no problem. I wanted to have a fireworks show at midnight (New Year's Eve wedding), they said no problem! The other thing Benedict's had that was really important was handicap access for my grandmother. I was very shocked that other venues did not have this! All of these extra things we were allowed to do really made our wedding extra special and our guest loved it. They also really loved the food! Plus, having the food prepared within the venue made things easier and less stressful. AND we got to take home the leftovers!! Shirley is the coolest! Her daughter, Nicole, was my bridal attendant on the wedding night and she was incredibly sweet. I would definitely consider having another event here in the future. And why not? They give repeat customers a discount - and their prices are already so competitive!

The bride that was getting married on premise in the Plantation House informed us the night before at her rehearsal that she had given us the wrong time and was 30 minutes earlier than we expected. In turn, you were asked nicely if you could please leave at 5:15, rather than 5:30 so that her wedding would not be interrupted. Your photographer stated that all pictures had been taken at that point. 15 minutes earlier than you planned for time that was graciously offered to you free of charge. We regularly host parties of 250 or more and have ample parking. There were no problems that evening other than you wanting particular spots in the lot for your party. The guest book was placed on the entrance table in plain view of everyone. Please see your photographs. We would have no reason to "hide" your guest book. You posted on social media the next day that it was the most fabulous day of your life and thanked everyone who helped make it happen. We are also very sorry that you were reprimanded about your review. We did not ask anyone to say anything to you.

began working with Brian and he did a great job, but before my wedding took place he was no longer with Benedict's and we began working with someone new. This caused some slight confusion at the beginning because we had to communicate some of the details again. I was worried at first about this, but I cannot say enough how perfect everything was. We began working with Brenda and wow is all I have to say about her. She answered endless phone calls and text messages from my mom and I. She even came to meet us multiple times the weekend of the wedding so we could drop off things ahead of time. After I dropped everything off, I gave her some notes with pictures of what I wanted. They did EVERYTHING exactly like I wanted it. I was amazed at how they completed every detail of what I wanted to have at my wedding. The venue looked more gorgeous than I had pictured. The food was obviously phenomenal, no question about it they do an amazing job with the food. My bridal attendant was there for anything I needed and she was a huge help during the ceremony making sure the bridal party went down the isle correctly. I also loved that they do the catering because when you have so many decisions to make one less is always good. They also have a list of preferred venders that work with them and will give you discounts if you choose them. It was nice to have a place to start when looking for all the other vendors and we did choose some of the vendors they recommend. I had a blast at my wedding. Brian was the officiant for our day. The day of he did great, but we were a little disappointed with our rehearsal. He seemed unprepared and like he hadn't even looked at the ceremony we sent him beforehand (for timing). The first run-through without his ipad was a disaster. However, the second run through (after getting his ipad and reading through it), went great. He has a lot of weddings so it's not surprising if he can't memorize everything! And again, the day of, everything went really well.
The day of coordinator that came with the package, Nicole, was incredibly efficient. My glass was never empty, and neither were my husband's, or any of our parent's. We even got plates of food (that were delicious, by the way. The food is amazing!). She did seem to be a bit gruff with friends who tried to help--she wanted to do it all. Not necessarily a bad thing, but my Matron of Honor mentioned a few times where she was doing something I had asked her to do and was told not to do them because that was Nicole's job. I didn't care for that, but she absolutely got the job done, so maybe that's just me.
The food was delicious; I don't think I had one thing I didn't like, and every guest had a favorite! The one thing that really disappointed us was the ice cream bar. We were promised 2 flavors, and we only got vanilla. Additionally, the topping's were just set out in the containers they came in. It looked a little tacky. Still tasted awesome, and I don't think anybody else cared, honestly. Just irritating because we paid for 2 flavors (and the one missing was my husband's favorite, strawberry). But again, taste wise, it was perfect. And the leftovers were great, too! They even sent us home with a reusable bag and a bottle of champagne to go with them. Really sweet touch, that was not lost on us! We used the bag on our honeymoon trip.
All in all, the venue is great. It was affordable, easy, and the partners that work with Benedict's were all fantastic. The house was beautiful, and from the guest pictures I've gotten back so far, will be lovely in pictures. Brian is incredibly easy to work with, and he answers emails almost immediately! They can absolutely personalize your event, and will do it well.

rian to book the venue and plan the wedding, and were very impressed by his flexibility and responsiveness-he almost always responded to emails within the day. We were hoping to have him manage the reception, but he was unfortunately out of town that day. Nicole did a great job as well, but I think some confusion regarding when we could arrive at the venue to set up and when and how my husband and I would enter the reception hall could have been avoided if Brian had been there.
Benedict's is a beautiful location with southern charm. We were lucky because they had just redecorated the interior of the ballroom, including the bar area. They also do a great job keeping the courtyard outside the ballroom beautiful with seasonal landscaping, and we got some of our favorite photographs out there.
We want to emphasize how good Benedict's food is! We got gumbo, salad, and a combination platter with steak and chicken, and heard so much positive feedback from our guests regarding the food, including that some guests pretended there were more people at their table so they could get a second serving of gumbo!
Overall, we were very pleased with Benedict's and would recommend them to anyone looking for a classy, southern venue with great food.

My wedding turned out great! The food was absolutely amazing and everyone commented on how wonderful everything was.
Everything was wonderful, the planning, the negotiating prives, the planner who was on site the night of was amazing (ask for Mrs. Judy) The food was wonderful, all decorations were included we couldn't have been any happier!
