Throughout this pandemic, I have endeavored to make many options and additional services available to our couples; I know it has been a stressful time for everyone. I never charged any couples a rebooking fee if they chose to reschedule, and I did not pass on any of the expenses related to the hand sanitizing stations and hospital-grade disinfection equipment we purchased or the additional staff to disinfect key areas of the facility every two hours during your celebration. I am unclear as to the source for the evening’s timeline for music you provided in your review. For all of our couples during the pandemic who had dancing outside, we extended the time until 10pm. After several polite reminders of this timeline both before and after 10pm, your guest who was acting as your DJ refused to stop playing more songs. As the time approached 10:30, we had no recourse but to shut off the system. I know this may have seemed abrupt to those enjoying the party who were unaware of these interactions, but there was little else we could do. We were certainly willing to move the sound system inside and began the somewhat involved process of doing so; in the interim, your group began using another sound system. Given that after moving our system you would only have time for a couple songs, and that you were already using our other equipment, we stopped the moving process. I could have communicated these details better at the time. I am also unclear as to your observation that we began throwing away your belongings. My team did discard some alcohol that your bar service poured into cups and set out on a table just prior to their departure. Although new to our facility, your bar service knew that in the interest of guest safety, self-serve was against our alcohol policy. Other than that, we didn’t touch any of your belongings. Nevertheless, I do believe we could have done a better job of providing more communication with you personally with respect to both the music and the alcohol issues. I also want to express my gratitude for the many kind remarks from your family and guests throughout your entire celebration here at the Big Yellow Barn. I love running a wedding venue, and am honored and happy to be involved with couples at this great time in their lives; this usually comes through in my interactions with our clients and their guests. I am sorry you left with a different impression. Regardless of whether you respond to my earlier private communication about your review and my offer to meet with you personally, I wish all the best to you and Mike as you move forward in your lives together.
