I had decided I didn’t want to use the traditional wedding menu for dinner, rather I wanted to do a beach grillout buffet of hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq chicken, etc. Without hesitation she made that happen and it was exactly as I imagined! She truly cares about her clients and you can see how passionate she is about what she does. :) Julie managed our guest room block, and I’m not kidding when I say she’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet! Whether it was over email or phone she always treated me like an old friend :) and of course she made the whole room block process so easy with no issues whatsoever! Finally, Alyssa was our day of coordinator and she is AMAZING! She decorated our ceremony/reception and made it look absolutely flawless! She is so organized, detail oriented, and creative! She took all the stress out of the day and made it a breeze! :) Thank you so much to everyone at The Bilmar! All of our guests raved about how much fun they had and that they hope to come back and visit! If you want a gorgeous, memorable wedding The Bilmar is for you!!!

d there. We had been down about 4-5 times while wedding planning to check out vendors and confirm plans but we relied heavily on Tara and Julie for their advice and recommendations. Every single detail leading up to the event was thought out and nothing was forgotten. Every detail on the day of was perfect as well. Alyssa, our day of coordinator, was so organized and helped answer all of our questions on the day of and the days and weeks leading up to the wedding. She decorated everything perfectly for both the ceremony and reception. I had brought boxes and boxes of decor and had a specific vision in mind of what i wanted. It was as of Alyssa read my mind and set everything up perfectly. During the evening, Denise and the entire catering staff were amazingly attentive to every need of our guests. I couldn't have asked for a better venue, experience, and staff to work with. I would do an anniversary event next year at the Bilmar just to work with everyone again! Thank you!!

Julie was also so helpful during the process of making our room reservation for the wedding night. As for the venue itself, everything was beautiful. The ceremony setup on the beach was gorgeous and clearly done with great attention to detail, and the reception in the ballroom was equally perfect. The food was delicious, and the banquet staff were beyond amazing. Every single staff member throughout the entire process made sure that my husband and I were having our dream wedding, and I can’t thank all of them enough for our perfect day. I highly recommend choosing the Bilmar for your wedding!

Another person who we would like to thank is Denise! She made sure that our reception was flawless! Without her, I’m not sure how I would have made it through the rest of the night! She had leftovers delivered to our room, carried our left over cake, brought us drinks when we needed them. She is one hard worker, and I absolutely loved her! She answered every single one of my emails quickly (and there were tons) and was super helpful throughout the whole process. Julie was also very helpful with my constant questions and emails about the room Block, hotel rooms, info about penthouses and random questions. Those two are the best! Our waitstaff and bar staff at the reception were outstanding. Everyone was so professional, friendly and patient. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Tara made sure the wedding party knew what they were doing and where to stand and what time to be where. She, along with her crew, took care of all the decorating and details, and she was in contact with all of our vendors, so there was no stress on me or my family the day of. All we had to worry about was hair and makeup and showing up. The ceremony site at waters edge was so beautiful I immediately starting crying when my dad and I walked up to the aisle. Surrounded by everyone we love, and the waves crashing nearby, it was the perfect wedding and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Right before the ceremony; the sky clouded up but it did not rain!! So it turned out very nice because the sun wasn't beating down on us. The hotel rooms , pools were very nice. We loved going to Sloppy joe's for drinks and the cafe had amazing food! As soon as we checked out of the Bilmar I wanted to go back. We can't wait to plan our next trip there, which will Hopefully be in a few months. Thank you to everyone at the Bilmar for the amazing work you do. You made our wedding perfect!

r our special day. Both my husband and I say that Tara really was the reason why we decided to go with the Bilmar. Tara was enthusiastic, accommodating, and FUN!! I have heard planning a wedding can be stressful but working with Tara made me feel at ease and I loved every moment of it. She is quick to respond to emails and I never once felt like I was bothering her. There were a few special requests I made and her answer to me was always "we will make it happen because I want everything to be perfect for you". She worked within our budget and provided an estimate by the end of the first visit which we were comfortable with. I also appreciated the fact that our tasting was included and you didn't have to pay extra for this which is common I hear. We also loved the fact that it was a package deal and we didn't have to go out and hire a caterer, linens, ceremony package, etc because it was ALL included. You even have a choice for centerpieces if you want to use theirs (which we didn't but it's nice to have that option). Julie Slyvester also was a huge help in coordinating our room block and guests were able to reserve their rooms easily online. She helped me reserve the penthouse for our bridal suite and assisted me with reserving tables for our guests for their beautiful Easter Brunch the next day. Alyssa Christoff (my DAY-OF and ceremony coordinator) was also a dream come true!! She along with Tara decorated the reception area for me beautifully and I felt like she was always by my side if I needed her. She made our wedding day go so smoothly but reminded me to step back and enjoy it which I surely did!! To ALL of the staff at the Bilmar, thank you for making All of our dreams come true!!

She was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the 10 month process to make sure everything was set up exactly as we wanted and that no detail was overlooked. Our ‘Day of Wedding Coordinator,’ Alyssa, also did an incredible job directing the wedding party/guests and left us with the ease of not having to worry about anything besides showing up. The beach front ceremony was set up perfectly with all the décor provided by the venue. The reception was at the indoor/outdoor café. The waiting/bartending staff was superb and attentive throughout the evening making sure every glass was always full. We could not have been more pleased with all of it. Most of our guests were from out and town and stayed for several days. All we heard from them were compliment after compliment regarding the venue. on, DC area apartment and venture down to warm, sunny Florida for a beach wedding in December. We held our ceremony and reception on the beach with the Bilmar's "Toes in the Sand" package. There were certain factors that instantly drew us in - the open bar, complimentary cake cutting service and all tables, linens and chairs included were some of the big features. I enjoyed having everything essentially done for us - we chose the final menu and detailed the day, but all of the big stuff was taken care of. THAT right there is a huge, huge time saver for brides who are planning their wedding themselves (without the help of a wedding planner). I feel, especially as an out-of-town bride, having the ceremony and reception handled by the professionals at the Bilmar was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Kerry and his team ensured everything went off without a hitch and there was no drama or day-of issues that I was aware of. The reception staff was to die for and incredibly accommodating. Anytime my husband or I asked for something - even as simple as a glass of water - boom! It was there instantly. For all of the stress throughout the planning process (trying to coordinate a bridal party, find the perfect dress, create timelines and seating charts, etc), it was so nice not to have to lift a finger on the actual wedding day since the Bilmar team took care of everything. There were a few communication hiccups throughout the process, however, all was resolved in a timely fashion and nobody ever had a clue about it aside from my now-husband and me. All-in-all, brides-to-be have to anticipate some sort of miscommunication throughout the entire wedding planning process. But, like I said, it was dealt with immediately and ended up being a simple misunderstanding. No harm, no foul! At the end of the day, everything went off without a hitch. Weather was fabulous, the ceremony was everything I ever wanted and the reception was perfect. Our cost was well within budget, which was a huge factor, and our guests cannot stop raving about the stellar service and spectacular time they had. It was without a doubt the wedding I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl!

The contract did state the prices were subject to change, but an increase of almost 20% seemed unreasonable. The rep would not budge. Every contact made was stressful and confrontational; I even received an email that the event could be shut down if any guest brought in outside liquor - a threat that was unwarranted and unreasonable. Like the other person who wrote a review, I was afraid to complain due to a concern about how the event would turn out. I will say the event turned out wonderful and the food was fabulous. The operations staff was amazing! I would recommend them but caution people not sign a contract with them unless EVERY detail is included at the time the contract is signed. The current brochure that is offered at the time the contract is signed is not representative of what you will end up with. I was even told the day of the wedding that items on the website don't represent the end product (i.e. pictures of ceremony arch)! For an event that is supposed to be enjoyable to plan it was a very stressful process.

The locations around the resort to take pictures as bride and groom were wonderful and both suites the mother of the bride and the parents of the groom had were wonderful. The facility was clean, most of the staff was friendly and attended to our every need. The proximity to other restaurants or local attractions was great too. A tremendous thank you to making our wedding day a day we will never forget!

estination wedding for us and we were unable to visit the site ahead of time. However, as we moved closer to our wedding date, the communication was very limited. Part of this was due to the fact that the catering manager changed and was getting adjusted to the position at the Bilmar. But this resulted in me (the bride) having to send multiple emails to try and confirm our menu in the six weeks leading up to our wedding date and several emails in the last two weeks to get an answer on final cost. I am generally a pretty laidback person and was definitely not a bridezilla; however, some of the emails I received back from the new catering manager made me feel that he was bothered by my emails. In fact, I felt that his response bordered on condescending at times and I had to restrain myself from complaining before the event because I was worried that there could be backlash from any complaints that could impact our wedding. In general, I would have sent fewer emails if my questions had been answered the first time with straight forward responses. I had to ask multiple times when we could have a rehearsal and did not get an answer until a week before the event. When the rehearsal time came around, the Operations Manager was 20 minutes late to show us how things would run (mainly just associated with set up) and we had to rush to complete our rehearsal before another wedding was to start. The only other thing that we think we should mention relates to the valet service for the wedding. It was something that did not affect us directly, but seriously rubbed my father (of the bride) the wrong way. There is a valet service fee included in the cost of the ceremony/reception that is not optional. Although you play for this valet service, it only allows for people to begin parking at the hotel starting the hour before the ceremony. The hotel was so stringent on this point that they would not even allow my parents to park there any earlier. These things made me concerned about how things would run on the day of our wedding. However, despite these frustrations ahead of time, everything ran absolutely wonderfully when it came to our actual wedding day. Our reception was in Bazzie’s Beach Bar and we loved being able to eat outside under a tent and enjoy the sunset. The reception staff were wonderful, friendly, and made sure that we (the bride and groom) were well attended to. The food was delicious and many of our guests commented on how tasty it was. In fact, the staff asked if we wanted them to put together a couple of to go boxes of our food to be taken to our room for later or the next day. Even though there was another wedding ceremony starting as ours ended, it was on the other side of a dune and did not impact our wedding or reception at all. When we returned to the room, the hotel had left us a bottle of champagne and some chocolate covered cherries which was a nice addition. Overall, we were incredibly happy with how our wedding came together at the Bilmar. If you’re looking for an affordable, casual site and you’re laidback but willing to push to make sure you get the answers you need, then I’d recommend the Bilmar for your event.

That led us to being 30 days before our wedding and wanting to get all of the things we discussed onto paper and then being told everything we were promised was incorrect. Although it took some fighting, the Bilmar DID give us most of the things that we had previously been told we would have. One of the biggest problems the day of the wedding was the staff’s lack of communication/organization. I wrote out very detailed instructions for things such as special meals and for a special cupcake that was to be delivered to my father when the DJ played Happy Birthday. The meals were brought to the wrong people, I was asked many times where this meal or that meal goes and most upsetting, my father’s cupcake was just placed on his table before the reception began and because no one knew what it was for and someone else ate it. My biggest concern that night was when a staff member said “f-ing rude people” to myself and my bridesmaids in the bathroom, prior to the ceremony, and after me telling the GM what had happened, I looked up during my reception and to see this very staff member tending my bar. That is a good indication of the customer service we received from the Bilmar the majority of the time. Bottom line is that it is a beautiful and very cost effective place to get married. The food was great too and the majority of the wait staff at the reception was very good. This is why they host so many weddings, up to 7 in one night. This is where the problem lies. If you can’t imagine running into another bride in the restroom at your reception on YOUR wedding day, then this is not the place for you.

Only other downfall is that my bridesmaids and I had to purchase a hotel room to get ready in before the wedding because they do not offer you one. Other than that, everything COULDNT have been more perfect.. But, I also had a spectacular wedding planner which helped a lot with organizing all of my vendors etc.

Inside for the reception the set up was amazing and loved every bit of it. The food was fanominal! Servers when outstanding it was just an AMAZING EXPERIENCE and I thank them so much for the wonderful service they provided us on our special day!

I was shocked when I walked up to the double doors and realized this was our upgraded room. I absolutely love the Bilmar. With the location being right on the beach, two pools, great rooms, food and shopping in walking distance, a beach bar and Sloppy Joe's and Ricky T's right there...you just can't get better than the Bilmar. You just have everything you could possibly want for a wonderful beach wedding weekend in walking distance. We even walked the two blocks to Middle Grounds for our dinner reception. This is just a great resort, whether you're getting married or just getting away to the beach. Ceremony setup was beautiful and very reasonable. Our guests loved everything too! Made it back in time for a lovely sunset drink at Bazzie's Beach Bar before heading to Sloppy Joe's to end the evening with a couple more drinks. I could just go on and on about how perfect it was.

Throughout the 14 month process, correspondence with the staff was top-notch which really eased my mind as the bride planning the entire wedding solo. Our wedding day was beautiful. The servers were completely on top of things throughout the evening and set-up was absolutely beautiful. Despite the normal "issues" that do come up with every wedding no matter where you have it, we really couldn't have asked for anythign better. I would definitly recommend the Bilmar if you are on a budget, but don't want your guests to know that you are :)
