My husband and I had the most amazing experience with Birch Hill as our venue and caterer!! They take care of pretty much everything which is exactly what we were looking for. The food is absolutely delicious, our guests are still talking about it! We worked with Serena and she was simply the best!! I could not recommend her and Birch Hill enough, she made everything so a low stress experience while also catering to all of our needs!

My daughter’s wedding was a Birch Hill Catering. I cannot recommend this venue enough. The outdoor ceremony was lovely and required only the most basic of flowers and décor due to the natural beauty of the surroundings. The ballrooms are gorgeous and she chose the one with the stunning atrium glass. It seated 165 people while still leaving plenty of dancing room, DJ booth, and food stations. The cocktail hour was indoor/outdoor on the patio and it was perfect. Now let me talk about our most favorite things. First off, the staff, namely Serena. She is fantastic! She was extremely helpful in working out the details for the event and her communication was top notch through the whole year of planning. On the day of the event, Serena seemed to have eyes and ears everywhere noticing any little detail that needed addressing, taking care of it herself calmly and confidently, and when needed, discreetly asking about a little decision or two for which she needed my input. She also took video and photos during the event. While waiting for the professional photographs for weeks, this was such a nice surprise to receive! Emily was her assistant and very willing and helpful as well. Second, the food. Wow, the food here is just delicious! The choices are abundant and everything was just mouthwatering. It is one of the big reasons we chose this venue and it didn’t disappoint. The carving station and mac n cheese were highlights. They offer so many fun add on’s like late night snack and ice cream stations which since there is not a noise ordinance to worry about, are nice additions to a reception that can go later into the night. Lastly, the fireworks. So, my daughter had her heart set on these and to be honest, my husband and I questioned whether it would be worth it or not. Let me tell you it was worth it, SO worth it. It was a professional show that rivaled that of a lot of professional 4th of July shows! It was spectacular and the photos taken of the bride and groom with huge fireworks going off right above them are awesome! We don't have the pro ones yet but even the cell phone ones are great so we can only imagine. It was an add on we did not regret as our guests were truly in awe. We had many come up to us to share it was a top wedding they had ever attended. Our daughter hugged us at the end of the night thanking us for her fantasy wedding. Thank you to Serena and Birch Hill for making that happen! We will never forget the night.

Birch Hill Estate is our original event property, acquired by the Feldman family in 1987. About 15 minutes away, we added Stablegate Farm in 2007 to offer a rustic and nature-forward alternative. Both locations are part of Birch Hill's event portfolio.

- Serena FeldmanSales ManagerAs the fourth generation, growing up in and around the Birch Hill Catering Business, Serena started working at an early age. From her first official title “Activities Participant” Serena could be seen running around the Birch Hill Grounds with her Grandmother Felice and learning how to play the activities she’d later be running. Following college at SUNY Delhi where she pursued a degree in Veterinary Science, Serena spent a few years living in Florida; but her desire to help her father brought her back to the Birch Hill Estate. Serena used her drive for success and continued years of learning and growing, working in every facet of the industry from dish-washing, to bartending, and then to management and sales in 2019. Serena enjoys helping her father Steven and using her experience in the business to ensure the perfect day for her couples. On her days off Serena can be seen spending time with her two dogs Willow and Scooby (The Official Birch Hill Welcome Committee), or over at the farm with her four horses Sabrina, Tessa, Amigo, and Doctor.
- Molly HolmanSales ManagerMolly joined the Birch Hill team in the spring of 2024 as Junior Sales and quickly stood out for her warm energy, creativity, and attention to detail—learning the ropes hands-on. Now as Sales Manager, she specializes in intimate weddings, baby showers, rehearsal dinners, and after-parties—bringing thoughtful coordination and a little bit of sparkle to every celebration. She holds a degree in Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management from Johnson & Wales University. With additional experience coordinating events on cruises and working in customer service, Molly’s strong communication and problem-solving skills shine through in every event she touches. Her hands-on experience and passion for making magic happen make her a dynamic part of the Birch Hill team.
- William PattersonOperations ManagerGrowing up in nearby Kinderhook, Will began his career at Birch Hill early. He found purpose in assisting Steven’s children with the large picnics and pavilion parties which were a summer staple. Soon enough, however, Will found himself serving elegant dinners in the formal dining rooms. His responsibilities later grew to include running the business’s payroll operations and employee onboarding. Once graduated from college with a degree in Business Administration he joined a local financing firm in Albany, NY. When Covid-19 shutdown the country, Will worked to assist thousands of small businesses and entrepreneurs via the Paycheck Protection Program. Following the pandemic, he, like many others, took a chance to recharge; traveling and pursuing experiences and friendships missed during lockdown. Will finally found his way back to Birch Hill, where he applies his logistical mindset, leadership skills, and operational expertise. A close friend of the Feldman family, Will now works closely with Steven, Serena, and Val to ensure Birch Hill maintains the level of excellence that has made it an industry leader for generations.
- Steven FeldmanOwner & OperatorSteven grew up in his family’s Restaurants in the late sixties and seventies. Visiting his father and grandfather involved going to the restaurants to “help out.” After school Steven would help out at all of the family restaurants, Herbert’s, Daddy-O’s, Mall Mart, Daddy-O’s Party Place, Snack Shack, and Albany Business College Food Services. Steven opened his first restaurant, Daddy-O’s North in Lake George, following his high school graduation. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Steven has always immersed himself in the family business. He likes to say he grew up with “Russian Dressing in my blood.” Steven has been there for many of the changes over the years. From relocating Herbert’s due to the fire in 1974 to the acquisition and renovation of Birch Hill in 1987, Steven has been a driving force in the growth of the family businesses. From managing events of 55,000 people to small intimate weddings, Steven has seen and done an awful lot over the years and he is excited about his daughters Serena & Val, joining the team and looks forward to continuing to grow Birch Hill Catering while working side-by-side with them in the years to come.

ll was our first.....and last. From the second we walked into the venue we felt that feeling, when you know, you know. From the elegant lobby, to the two beautiful indoor options, we saw endless possibilities for our special day. We ultimately chose the Conservatory ballroom for our winter wedding. Our wedding planner was Serena, and that was no easy choice as every single event planner we met was fantastic, welcoming, and comforting. Serena was there for us any hour of the day with any question large or small. From the initial planning jitters, right down to the final inevitably stressful bridal-madness moments, Serena was there. I felt confident in her commitment to my day. Serena never made me feel like a bother, or an inconvenience. Now, to the special day...... From the moment I arrived at the venue, Serena greeted me and did everything she possibly could to ensure I felt not an ounce of pressure or anything other than joy. We chose the Ultimate package, and even customized the package to fit our needs opting for the self serve buffet style rather than plated meals. The number one piece of feedback we got from guests was how absolutely amazing the food was. The cocktail hour was so beautifully executed, one guest asked when the Bride and Groom were going to come enjoy dinner, and thought we were missing it! The events of the evening were perfectly aligned with all our views and dreams. I will recommend this venue wholeheartedly, forever. One of my absolute favorite memories is standing outside the ballroom, nervously about to enter, on my dads arm, and seeing Serena's smiling face open the door to my future. As my now husband and I exited the ceremony, she greeted us with two champagne glasses and a hug that felt like it was from an old friend. Absolutely perfect.

From the moment we took our first tour, I knew Birch Hill was where I wanted to get married. It was obvious that their team genuinely cared about giving us the wedding day we had always envisioned. They wanted us to be happy, supported, and able to enjoy every moment—and that’s exactly what they delivered.
Having a coordinator throughout the planning process was invaluable. Molly and Catherine were my rocks from start to finish. This was the biggest and most expensive event I have ever planned, and I had no idea where to begin. Their expertise, guidance, and attention to detail were priceless, not only leading up to the wedding but on the wedding day itself. I always felt like a priority, and on my wedding day I truly felt like a princess.
I also want to give a special shout-out to William and the entire Birch Hill team for accommodating a last-minute change to our plans. We had always envisioned an outdoor wedding, but a sudden forecast of cold temperatures, wind, and rain made us decide that moving indoors would be the best option. William and his team made the transition happen almost instantly. I was genuinely amazed at how quickly and seamlessly they rearranged everything.
We ended up having our reception in the Conservatory, and it was absolutely stunning. When I walked in and saw all of my décor perfectly arranged and my vision brought to life, I literally cried tears of joy. It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
The entire Birch Hill team went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Between the breathtaking scenery, outstanding service, and unwavering support throughout the planning process, our wedding day was nothing short of magical. Everything went flawlessly, and I could not be happier that we chose Birch Hill for our dream wedding.

ena was wonderful. As an event planner myself, I appreciated her knowledge and professionalism, and her willingness to make just about anything I asked for happen. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish, she made a number of excellent suggestions for things I hadn't even thought of that I incorporated into the day and, at the end of the night, she airdropped me something like 70 photos that she'd been taking throughout the day, which were wonderful to look through the next morning. I had an excellent experience here, and I would absolutely book another big event with Birch Hill and Serena.

or ceremony spaces are beautiful which gave us peace of mind in case it had rained, but we were able to have ours in the "birdcage" spot on their grounds. Along with easy coordination, the food was excellent and we got so many compliments from our very happy guests. We went with the cocktail style package and were thrilled with our choices but don't think we could've gone wrong with any of their many options. My husband and I were both able to eat a lot and thoroughly enjoy ourselves because of the attentive staff. They also have extensive recommended vendors lists to make planning much easier.

Any nerves I had the morning of my wedding melted away as soon as I walked into the venue. It was absolutely beautiful and better than imagined. Serena and Birch Hill staff were attentive to us with food and drinks the entire night - we never wanted for anything! Serena even gave spot-on creative suggestions for our wedding table flowers and some prime photo spots.
Many of our guests have given rave reviews about the venue set up and how delightful the staff were.
We went with their Cocktail Style catering package upon Serena's recommendation. It made for a really nice flow with no long lines and a variety of options for guests to choose from. Almost everyone told us how much they loved the food...several commenting that it was the best wedding menu they've ever had.
This venue was reasonably priced, extremely organized, and are truly wonderful at what they do. We'll be forever thankful for Serena and her team!

the day of the wedding and was accommodating with our schedule changes. Even though the rain forced us to move our outdoor ceremony inside, we had an absolutely stunning ceremony in the Conservatory Ballroom filled with natural light. We were able to utilize the other ballroom w/patio that was available for the cocktail hour, allowing for a smooth transition back into the Conservatory for the reception. Luckily the rain cleared up and we were able to take pictures outside on Birch Hill's gorgeous, extensive grounds. They have so many scenic locations that make for perfect photo ops. All our guests raved about the food! There was an endless amount of delicious menu options with their Ultimate package. We couldn't be happier that we chose Birch Hill and recommend them for their beautiful natural grounds, dreamy Conservatory Ballroom, amazing food, and personalized service that's unique to family-owned businesses. w amazing he was on our big day—let alone the time leading up to it and afterward. Our ceremony was scheduled for 4 p.m.; however, it had been raining since noon. The bride and I were ready to make the call to have an indoor ceremony instead of using the Hudson 360 hilltop (which has an absolutely GORGEOUS view). But not Jared—he diligently monitored the radar, made calls to check the storm's status, and repeatedly assured us that we’d have our hilltop ceremony. To everyone’s surprise, the skies cleared, and the sun shone down on us for the 30 minutes we needed for the ceremony and some mingling before the introductions began. During the reception, Jared was incredibly attentive—not only to us but to all our guests as well. We can’t wait to return for events at the attached winery!

Val and winery were an exceptional addition to the wedding, having them open as a welcome to guests added a personal touch that enhanced the celebration. We had a couple unconventional elements including a live performance from the groom, his sister and father, and stablegate went above and beyond to ensure everything was executed flawlessly. We had our ceremony under the large catalpa tree and our reception inside the old barn which added a lovely ambience and environment. The afterparty lodge was the perfect setting to continue the celebration allowing us to fully enjoy the evening.
We highly recommend Stablegate Farm and Vineyard to anyone seeking a wedding venue that combines natural beauty, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Our day was truly magical, thanks to their outstanding team.

October wedding date, and thankfully found one that worked. Serena was an absolute goddess from start to finish—she gave us a thorough tour of all the location options, answered every question, and made the entire process feel effortless. We knew almost immediately that no other venue would compare!
Since we were on a tight timeline, I reached out to Serena frequently with questions, and she always responded promptly and thoroughly. By our 90-day planning meeting, we were already so comfortable with everything, and Serena guided us seamlessly through food choices (of which there were so many!) and other details. Her expertise really shone through when I wasn’t sure about certain things; she made it all so simple and stress-free.
Speaking of the food—it was hands down the best meal I’ve ever had! We chose the Cocktail Style package and went with a wide range of options, including crispy calamari with lemon-garlic aioli, French onion soup, cider bacon-wrapped chicken, pulled pork wonton bites, and mini grilled cheeses with tomato soup shooters, among others. Every single bite was phenomenal! The prime rib was cooked to perfection, and the mashed potato bar and pasta station were crowd favorites. Our guests raved about the gourmet French fry station that we had later in the night. While we handpicked the items, I genuinely believe that anything else on their menu would have been just as amazing—the quality and flavors were out of this world.
On the big day, I felt so confident in Serena and her team—it was like everything was taken care of before I could even think about it. I truly felt like I had nothing to worry about and could be fully present in every moment, which made the day even more magical. They thought of every detail, big and small, allowing me to simply enjoy and soak it all in.
At the end of the night, everything was packed up perfectly and already in my car before I even stopped partying! If I had to give any constructive feedback, it would be about the bridal suite. It was a very warm day for late September, and the air conditioning hadn’t been turned on before we arrived, so the suite was quite hot initially. Other than that, our ceremony by the pond was absolutely beautiful. While the mosquitos and some goose droppings were a minor annoyance, the setting was otherwise perfect and so romantic.
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Serena’s commitment and attention to detail made our wedding truly unforgettable!

d had an incredibly difficult time finding a place that we loved that was also within our budget. We’re from the LI area but knew we wished to get married upstate. We must have visited at least 10 venues. Then on our way home from one, my husband found Stablegate on a whim. We looked everything over and it had the barn that I wanted, and the catering included that my husband wanted and I said “if we visit and we like it, I’m putting a deposit down the next day.” And that’s exactly what we did. Birch Hill is an incredible family owned company with so many aspects attached to it, it was hard not to fall in the second we saw it. Over 2.5 years, I never once regretted that decision and once the wedding day came and went I knew it was the right choice for us. The food is amazing and a ton of different options (including catering to my vegan guests), the staff are incredible, and the vibes are immaculate. Our wedding coordinator Jared was really the star of the show. He was super accommodating to all of our needs, organized, and just all in all a ridiculously sweet and funny guy. When our wedding day ended up getting rained out, he came up with backup plans right on the spot that honestly fit our vibe so much more than our original plan and I really truly have Jared to thank for that. Jared treated us like we were old friends that he was just helping throughout the day. He is someone I will truly forever be the most grateful for to have on my wedding day. I have heard so many horror stories about venues, and I can honestly say this is not one of them. Stablegate Barn and the Birch Hill Catering Company have my highest recommendation. And if you need a coordinator, ask for Jared. Really truly from the bottom of my heart, thank you for an amazing wedding day.

Not only did she make the planning a breeze - but was beyond helpful the day of!! Originally we were going to have it "streamside" with the gothic-like arch, but after the rehearsal and the chill in the air we moved it inside. The ceremony was lovely and everything went as planned. I was expecting some MAJOR issue as many weddings have - and there wasn't one! Serena not only helped with the buttoning, floofing and the bustle of my gown, but during the cocktail hour prepared a dish for us so we were able to have one of each Butlered Hors d'oeuvres; made another plate of our favorite items for our sweetheart table; and when someone needed Advil - she was able to get them within minutes!! Like I said before - I cannot say enough good things about her (and we're not easy to please).
As for the food - people are still talking about it...I said to my husband I want to divorce him just so we can have another wedding at Birch Hill!! :D

Our wedding coordinator, Serena, was especially accommodating and on top of all our needs throughout the process. ef to find a beautiful barn with all the fixings on site. Little did I know that the owner is an absolute a**hole and might be the rudest business owner I've ever met.
Expect him to Nickle and Dime you for everything. I understand this must be a difficult industry to work in and I'm sure there are a lot of difficult brides. However, this man quoted us $1,000 for a seafood bar then increased that price to $4,000 in less than a year due to "the market". They require you to pay for the liquor license on the day of your wedding but won't let you bring any alcohol for your bridal party for while they are getting ready. I've been in 5+ weddings and every venue let the bride and groom bring AT LEAST a bottle of prosecco for the bridesmaids for while getting ready. But have no fear! They'll allow you to purchase alcohol through them and they'll just mark up the price by A LOT.
Not to mention, they also called me a few months prior and told me I had to shift everything up by a half hour because of a "noise ordinance" in the town. You think they would have been a little apologetic about this considering I already sent out invitations with the time but no.
Then for the wedding day...we had planned a beautiful outdoor ceremony up the hill overlooking some mountains. The owner charges $1750 for a trolley to bring the guests up the hill (30 seconds), whatever...we were willing to pay it. The day of our wedding, it started to rain about 20 minutes before our ceremony was set to start. The owner was using the trolley to bring our arches up for the ceremony. He actually said to one of my bridesmaids, "If I bring these arches up there but if it starts to rain, I'm not bringing them back down." This made me cry because I was clearly upset it was raining and was also upset at the fact I might not have the arches for our ceremony. I told the bridesmaid to tell him not to bother bringing the arches up.
Anyways, we ended up having the ceremony inside (which was another whole ordeal but I'll spare you the details). So later, when we asked if we could get refunded for the $1750 trolley (which was never used to transport our guests) and for the $250 outdoor bar (which was never used because of the rain) the owner, Stephen, said no. I've honestly never dealt with a worse business owner. The thing is, he won't even care about a bad review, he doesn't care about his customers at all. The only good thing I will say was the food was great. Avoid this place at all costs. I was embarrassed to have had my wedding there.

She and the rest of the Birch Hill Staff will go way out of their way, and I think beyond the call of duty, to make sure the couple is catered to. They're truly great people to work with.

Luckily with a change in staff, we ended up having an excellent relationship and experience. At the tasting event, we were initially underwhelmed by the food. Nothing bad, but also not impressive...the day of the wedding they killed it! We had a thanksgiving themed dinner for our wedding and we heard endless compliments on how great the food was. As noted on other recent reviews, we also had the 10% price increase. While it's frustrating to receive that email, it is clearly stated in the contract and they cannot be faulted. We do recommend doing a price freeze upon initial contract signing (read details in the contract). Cannot thank Jessica, her assistant, and the rest of the staff that day enough for helping things run so smoothly and their calming presence on such a big day!

wedding by 10%, without warning or compromise. We were so excited to get married here and now it’s just more unnecessary stress and having to figure out where an extra $2500 is coming from. Really, really poor business sense when Birch Hill claims to be struggling. Instead of raising prices going forward, they’re swindling the only customers they have: their current ones.
That being said, our planners (Sarah and Jessica) have been wonderful and I do not blame either for this. Hence the 2 stars.

s there every step of the way answering countless emails and questions. She is absolutely the BEST at her job hands down. Through all the stress of planning a wedding in a pandemic we finally got to the day and it was truly incredible. The entire day was flawless and that is 100% due to all of the efforts that Sarah and Jordan put in. They went above and beyond for our guests and made everyone feel safe and welcomed. There is truly not one thing I would change about that day and I will never be able to say thank you so the two of them enough for giving us a wedding day that was more magical and romantic than we could have ever dreamed of. From the fall color trees to the rustic feel of the barn, it was the best day that we could have ever asked for. They are truly the dream team and we were so lucky to have such an amazing team behind us every step of the way. We will truly miss working with both of them but will always have the greatest memories of a picture perfect day.
