ted the pizza for late night snack. The food was priced pretty well and we were able to do upgrades for our appetizers and the beef option for our served buffet while still in our budget. All of the guests were raving about the food, and we have some family members hard to impress. We were also able to use BJ's for just the kegs and provide our own wine and liquor which was huge. The food tasting had so many options, it was hard to choose our final menu but you can't go wrong working with them!

heck for our upcoming wedding and they invited us to attend a wedding show the next day, even though we had already booked with them. We declined since our wedding is already planned but they said if we came they would give us $500 credit towards our bill and an extra appetizer or late night snack. Of course we went. They ended up upgrading our main courses per our request as well, just wanting to give us exactly what we wanted for our day. Which was also a huge savings as the upgrades are the pricey options and our wedding is very large. They didn’t have to even tell us about the wedding show, since they already had our business, but they gave us that extra savings anyway. These people are passionate about what they do and truly want your day to be perfect and will work with you to make that happen.

ar to say that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp and spinach and artichoke dip for appetizers and the beef tenderloin is incredible as an entree. If you are getting married in northern Michigan, BJ’s is a great catering service, they will not disappoint.

with our plates when we went up to the buffet (a special accommodation we didn’t know about!) The food was amazing and we heard so many compliments from our guests. They did a great job keeping up with the appetizers and even though we were off taking photos they made sure we had a plate of appetizers sitting at our spots! Couldn’t have asked for better service! ad a lot of questions and changed things multiple times throughout the process and Susan was very responsive and helpful with every little change. She was always easy to get a hold of and had great suggestions when it came to serving sizes and her previous experiences with the number of guests we had. When we did our tasting everyone went out of their way to make sure things went well for us and Sean (chef) was wonderful and very easy to talk to. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering!

There are a few reasons I gave a 4/5 stars. Susan was great at communication and keeping in touch, but she was very black and white. I will admit, we started off on the wrong foot. I called and got a quote in March, but didn't book the services right away because our wedding was still over a year and a half away and we were still saving up for deposits and everything. When we called in June (3 months later) to get everything set in stone, Susan told us that there was a new "service charge" added to all quotes. The service charge was $1000. $1000!! That is a lot of money! When you are getting a quote for 200 people, that is an extra $5 per plate! I was so upset because we had known all along that we wanted BJ's but waited to book - my mistake! I asked if there was absolutely anything they could do, or if we could meet in the middle somewhere - I had already gotten a quote, if they would have called and told me, "hey, you have to make your decision before May otherwise there will be a $1000 increase" - we would have booked in a heart beat! NOPE, couldn't do it! I ended up sending Ronda - the owner of BJ's, an e-mail explaining our situation and how much we had been looking forward to having BJ's cater our wedding. I never heard back from Ronda, but the next day, Susan called and they had an offer, I could forfeit the appetizers and they wouldn't charge me the $1000, or I could keep the appetizers and pay $500 instead of $1000. We opted to keep the appetizers. Nice of them to meet us in the middle somewhere! But from then on out, I felt like I had a black cloud over my head, like I caused a problem and I was more of a burden - not a good feeling when you're spending so much money, but I guess it was worth it to know we were going to get good food! Bj's also tells you that you can keep all of the left overs and they will box up some appetizers for the wedding couple since they will not be there for that part of dinner. They did box up our left overs, but we had 14 people short of our final guest count and there was no way there was enough food left over for 14 guests! Also, we did not get any appetizers left for us. I guess that says 1 of 2 things, either our guests loved the food so much that they really did some damage and there wasn't much left over or they didn't leave all of the left overs. Like I said, day of wedding service and food would get 5 stars. It was just a few small details that upset us a little bit along the way. If you're considering booking BJ's for your catering needs, I KNOW your guests will be pleased - the food was perfect! Just be prepared for bumps along the way!

ood was to die for! At the wedding, we had nothing but compliments on how delicious the food was! I don’t think a single person complained! Everything was fresh and phenomenal. My only change would be to have had more bbq bacon wrapped shrimp. We had 200 for a 200 person wedding and those were gone instantly! Bonus, we got to keep all the leftover food we had! Thank you BJs for making our wedding even more phenomenal!!!

The appetizer table was beautifully arranged as we discussed and their bartending service was prompt and professional. The entree selection was served timely and the the food and service were "Country Club" level quality. Their catering coordinator Susan Hellenberg worked very closely with us to make sure that we were aware of all the options and choices available well in advance and did a phenomenal job in making sure everything was delivered to our expectations. They are quality and value all the way. I highly recommend them as they will make your special day much more special than you could ever imagine!

Their team was efficient, knew what they were doing and incredibly pleasant throughout the whole process - from the tasting to he ceremony itself. They provided services I wouldn't have even through of that were such a nice touch - they had someone serving my husband and I during the ceremony, everything was set and ready to go ahead of time... I didn't worry or think twice about anything. The food was amazing - I was so impressed with all of the menu options they offered and everything was absolutely delicious!!! I cannot recommend them enough - they are professional, pleasant, know what they are doing, so buttoned up and just such a fantastic experience!!! Every single part of wording with them was easy and stress free. I was big on reading reviews when planning my wedding and I had such a positive and amazing experience, it was definitely worth sharing!

When the day came I never worried about the set up or anything, cleared tables quickly, and bar staff worked there butts off for our 250 person wedding. Excellent, Excellent. They're bartenders kept a crowd of 260 flowing through the line flawlessly, and we are still eating the leftovers they graciously packaged up for us. Ribs are fall-off the bone (which was my requirement prior to booking!) and they're maple dressing on their Michigan salad is to die for. We held a brunch the morning after our wedding for our family, which is upwards of 100 people and we had exceptional service and food once again. BJ even gave my father in-law brisket from the kitchen to take home with us on Sunday. There's something to be said about delivering great food and service, and your owner and employees are kind on top of it. That is priceless. Thank you to BJ and Staff for making our wedding an event to be the talk of our family gatherings for months, and maybe years to come! hard to beat! Shawn was our server that day and he was great! He answered all of our questions along with all of my parents questions! After our tasting we went over to the office where we met with Elizabeth to go over pricing and extras, she was also great to work with! Laid everything out on the table so we knew exactly what we'd be getting into if we chose them. While we were there we also met the owner Bob! Let me tell you, Bob is one of the best types of owners out there! He was down to earth and honest about everything! He also provided a few extra tips and took us out to see the trailers they use to prep our food the day of the wedding. All of the servers the day of our wedding were also great! We are still getting compliments on our food 2 weeks after our wedding! I highly recommend BJ's for your catering needs

ract. This went unfixed. 2. They did not set up our linens even thought it was in the contract. Friends had to sneak away and to this during our rehearsal. 3. The linens were the incorrect size, even though they said they have worked our venue in the past. This is something they should have known. To be fair, this was solved by our venues GM who had to get on the phone with the owner. 4. The staff took some of our personal decorations. They were returned after multiple calls/emails trying to reach someone. 5. The bar staff… They were nice, but that doesn’t cut it. We picked out specific wines and beers and they were not displayed OR even mentioned to the guest. There were multiple times that we or our party were at the bar and guest would ask for a beer and they would just pour a beer without asking “which beer would you like we have _ and _”. Same for the wine, they were advertised at “white and red” when we had a specific white, specific red, and a cherry wine. When this was addressed we were told “it wasn’t a hit”, which would mean every single guest I asked who said they didn’t even know it was offered was lying. 6. Upon clean up we were told that the beer that we paid IN FULL was taken at the end of the night, leaving our wedding coordinator putting the beer into mason jars so it wouldn’t be taken from us. Mind you this was not mentioned in our contract. 7. Unprofessional, when we contacted the vendor after to complain about the issues we were responded to with a snarky email. In conclusion, while they did not completely ruin our wedding it definitely put a kink in what otherwise would have been perfect. The amount of money you pay these caterers you would expect better customer service and to at least get the colors correct.

We also had a late night snack that turned out exactly how I pictured it, and tasted even better. I think it's the best food I've ever had at a wedding.

Our first tasting was wonderful. On the day of the wedding the staff was readily available to help our guests, light our centerpiece candles, and ensure that everyone was enjoying their meal. The food was as delicious as we first tasted it. We are so thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with BJ's. Give them your business. You won't be disappointed.
