Best food I’ve ever had at the wedding. Some of our favorites were the boudin eggrolls, jambalaya, and crab hush puppies. The drinks were great and the bar tenders were quick.
We recently had Black Pearl cater our wedding and they were absolutely outstanding. Every single item was special in its own way and we've had endless "best wedding food ever" comp...
liments from our guests. We couldn't have been happier with our experience with Black Pearl. In addition to having stellar food and drink, they were very pleasant to work with and accommodating. Thank you to Black Pearl for having such a huge part in making our day special. Don't skip the oyster bar!
Nestled in the Riverbend neighborhood of Uptown and co-owned by the dynamic duo of Chef Walker Geoffray and his intrepid wife Katie, Black Pearl Catering Co. (BPC) and its “mothers...
hip” restaurant “Mother of Pearl” are two of the best kept secrets in the vast culinary scene of New Orleans. As a very hands-on two-time FOB, it was my distinct pleasure to work closely with them and their all-star team at BPC, the caterer we chose for our daughter’s recent wedding reception. Katie and her catering colleague, Kelsey, were personally involved throughout the planning process. Black Pearl’s alliance with Felicity Church, our venue, was such a blessing. Without it, we may not have ever known about them, which would have been our loss. Their vast knowledge and experience, combined with their intimate familiarity with our specific venue, were invaluable. Walker, Katie and Kelsey were an integral part a "dream team" we had assembled of other wedding vendors of all types with a history of working cohesively together, which was a huge plus. The synergy of their combined experience produced amazing results and inspired the confidence of our family. Most importantly, they flawlessly delivered a magical evening that our daughter and new son-in-law will never forget, nor will anyone else who attended. We were overwhelmed with the depth and breadth of the BPC catering menu, the gourmet quality of each dish and their world-class service. Always a text or a quick phone call away, Katie and Kelsey were extremely accessible on short notice to serve as a sounding board and advise on even the smallest of decisions. As fellow foodies and oenophiles, we thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Chef Walker and Katie at our private tasting over our desire for “off the beaten path” menu items and bespoke international wine selections. Katie and Kelsey were extremely helpful (and patient) in navigating us through the vast selection of Chef Walker’s impressively unique array of gastronomic creations from which we were allowed to choose for our reception. Then we were blown away by the BPC team’s execution on the day of the wedding. We and our guests are still talking about the quality of the food and service! Best ever! Among other noteworthy standouts, Chef’s ability to replicate his next-level culinary skills in preparing dishes to the same degree of meticulous precision for nearly 200 people in a venue kitchen as he did for eight of us in his own restaurant was truly inspiring. I mean, who can tempura fry okra to crispy delicate perfection on such a scale. I jokingly bet him he couldn’t do it and he took my money. Lol. And then there was their epic cheese and charcuterie farm table -- it was truly a work of art and should have been in a museum, but I’m glad we ate it. Ha! I can’t possibly say enough good things about, or give a higher recommendation of, Black Pearl as a caterer and Mother of Pearl as a standalone restaurant. More importantly, I can’t say enough about Walker, Katie and Kelsey as the genuinely delightful people (and new friends) that they are. Trust me – choosing Black Pearl was one of the best decisions we made and I would highly recommend that you do the same. You’ll be glad you did, regardless of which venue you choose. And the good news is, even if you aren’t planning a wedding, you can still treat yourself to a special dinner at Mother of Pearl -- and tell Chef hello for us!
We just used Black Pearl for our wedding last weekend and WOW it was beyond a 5 star experience. We had so many people tell us they had never tasted better wedding food before. The...
presentation was outstanding and so was the service. They truly made our wedding a one of a kind experience and I could not recommend them more. We had a couple last minute changes and they were very flexible and accommodating during a stressful time and really went above and beyond to put us at ease.
We could not have chosen a better caterer for our party! Katie was super responsive, she was patient, engaging and most importantly listened for every cue of what was going to be ...
important to us. The food was outstanding and Katie was very creative. We had 3 different stations, each station had someone preparing a full small plated meal for each guest personally. Each plate was work of art. There were no traditional serving or chafing dishes, each station was set up in the most artistic and beautiful presentation. Each meal was perfectly curated with a slight touch of NOLA for the NOLA experience. There were some roasted fruits and veggies used as amazing decor. The passed appetizers were beautifully curated on each plate. A unique feature we had was a server walking around with an old fashion cigarette box which housed shucked oysters on ice and all the fixings. Our guests loved this and it made a great presentation. The majority of the food was made onsite which made it even more special. For dessert they made beignets onsite that were passed along with cafe au lait and creme brûlée, which as all extraordinary! One thing very important to us was that our guests had no lines for the bar or the stations and Katie made certain to execute on this flawlessly! We had a vision and knew the experience we wanted for our guests. All in all, Katie and her staff were exceptional and executed flawlessly!
I can’t recommend Black Pearl highly enough! From their excellent communication to the absolutely amazing food and stunning presentation, working with them for our vow renewal was ...

The Black Pearl team, along with our wedding planner, also made sure that we had a plate of dinner between the ceremony and reception so that we could eat and try everything.

her team were easy to communicate with and very accommodating with our requests and menu preferences, Katie made it a breeze! I need to plan another event so I can hire them again. The staff were polite and professional during the event as well. Our only regret was that we didn't get the chance to stop from dancing and eat more. We highly recommend Black Pearl for your event!

they ran with it, producing an incredible menu. Our guests are STILL talking about the food from our wedding. I cannot recommend Black Pearl enough - they will work with you, work with your budget, and produce results that are better than your favorite restaurant.

Beautiful, creative presentations, fresh and seasonal, and absolutely delicious. A wonderful break from the traditional New Orleans wedding fare!! Each and every member of their staff was efficient and had great customer service skills. I highly recommend Black Pearl for your next event.

ancelled a month prior to the event due to COVID. We subsequently had to navigate through 3 more postponements because of the pandemic. Katie + Walker were kind and helped us through the process of cancelling and rebooking multiple dates with grace as we were stressed out basket cases-- and we truly appreciate it!
We knew we were going to book Black Pearl after our trial tasting because their food was so elevated and delicious-- and we are so glad we did. They were super easy and professional to work with in building the menu and they helped to guide us through what would work best.
Everything turned out beyond amazing the day of the wedding. Our friends and family still rave about the spread and tell us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The Oyster Bar was a really big hit!
I could not be happier with the quality and attention to detail. Katie + Walker-- thank you for making our day so amazing!! - Tom + Kate
I can't say enough about Black Pearl. The two things most important to my husband and I at our wedding was our food and entertainment. It was a destination wedding for us so we wan...
ted to give our guests some great southern fare. We had a jambalaya station, bbq brisket that melted in your mouth and biggest oysters anyone had ever seen! The food was fresh and full of flavor. Many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had (and I'd have to agree). They worked with us to curate our perfect menu, were cognizant of our gluten and shellfish allergy guests and were reasonably priced. I'd hire then again in a heartbeat.
I cannot say enough good things about Katie & Walker!
We hired the Black Pearl team to cater both our welcome party and wedding reception. The food was amazing at both events and...
we so enjoyed working with Katie and Walker. The menu selections were so wonderful and creative. Many of our guests said it was some of the best food they’ve ever had and we agree!
I also want to give a shout out to the Black Pearl staff. Every member of the staff and the service they provided was so lovely. We both heard multiple remarks from our guests regarding how professional the Black Pearl team was throughout the weekend!
Our only regret is that we aren’t able to eat food from Black Pearl every day!
Nothing short of perfection. Katie and Walker are a dream team. From start to finish, through venue changes, guest count changes, menu changes, covid craziness, they DELIVERED. The...
food was absolutely delicious; but even more -- the PRESENTATION. Absolutely flawless, guests couldn't get over it. Katie and Walker were highly responsive and accommodating to ALL OF our needs. It's no surprise why they are the most sought after caterer in NOLA. Brides - if you want them, book them AS FAR IN ADVANCE as possible. They are in high demand.
Katie and Walker - thank you for the most magical evening of our lives at the sculpture garden.

rsal dinner catered at a beautiful home in New Orleans and they did such a fantastic job. The food selection was curated perfectly. It was such a great value, we had plenty of food for days after that we could nibble on. The shrimp rolls were so damn good. And cheese boards were bountiful. The pork was to die for. So freaking good. And Turner, our bartender was doing a fantastic job all night. Serving people, keeping things tidy, and us not having to worry about a thing! It was such a perfect evening. Thank you for adding to it Black Pearl!
Katie and Walker were incredible at accommodating all of our dietary restrictions/allergies while supplying a DELICIOUS menu for our wedding. Our only complaint is that we were not...
able to select everything from their extensive menu. We are still hearing from everyone about how much they loved the food. In the fray of getting married, their staff made it a point to bring us a serving of every dish and continued to check in with us throughout the night. It was apparent their entire staff genuinely cared about our experience and took pride in their work. Cannot recommend them enough!

r tastes and accommodate our dietary restrictions. The tasting was incredibly well thought out and felt special. At our tasting we were able to taste the cochon de lait, endive salad, chicken lolipops, crab boil sweet potato hash, and chile carrots. Each bite was better than the next! For our wedding day we added in steak tartare, tomato tart and oysters. It was the perfect combination that also appealed to all of our guests and all of their dietary restrictions. Everyone was RAVING about the crab boil sweet potato hash and the endive salad. My guests were scavenging the fridge the next day for leftovers and were disappointed when they were quickly eaten because they were just that good. I hope to use Black Pearl in the future for a dinner party.
Walker, Katie and the entire Black Pearl team are not only incredible caterers but people. Every single thing that comes out of the kitchen is more delicious than the next, and is ...
all presented beautifully. We hired BP for our wedding and throughout the entire process, these caterers were professional, communicative, flexible and creative. Plus, guests are still raving about the food weeks later. Please do yourself a favor - try their tomato pie and hire these wonderful folks for your next event.

ostly through my wedding planners at Mint Julep Productions, who highly recommended Black Pearl!) so didn’t get to interact directly too much with Katie and Walker during the planning process, but the experience we had with them at the tasting was enough to see how great they are! Everything we tried was delicious and the presentation was phenomenal (they used flowers from their garden!!). At our actual wedding in October, the food was out of this world, our guests still talk about it (the stars being the Pig Roast and the Au Gratin Potatoes! Although everyone seemed to love everything!). Not only was the food delicious, but the presentations (stations and passed apps) all matched our wedding decor and “vibe”, truly incredible. Our guests also raved about the staff, they loved interacting with the chefs at each station and said everyone was so nice. Our catering manager for the evening was Anthony, who we met that day and was very sweet and made sure we were all good during our bride and groom food break. Can’t say enough good things about Black Pearl - not only is their food delicious, it’s also so unique which is why I think it really sticks with people! I also love that’s it’s an independent family owned business. I’d hire them all over again!

n finding a vendor. I was nervous but trusted Katie from our first email conversation. She was quick to respond to everything and worked with us to give us the menu we desired. I'm originally from New Orleans and my husband is from California, we had guests coming from all over the country. I loved that Black Pearl puts a twist on New Orleans classics. I was able to do a tasting about 9 months after booking Black Pearl. The hardest part was narrowing down my favorites. Everything was incredible. So much thought and care was put into their dishes. Our guests are still raving about the food that night, most saying it's the best wedding food they've ever had- coming from New Orleans natives too. Katie and her team worked hard to provide us with everything we wanted. They really went above and beyond to take safety measures for Covid as well and that was a huge relief. Their prices were more than fair for the portions and quality of food and service they provide. I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about them.

out how it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The owners are incredibly thoughtful and communicative, especially as we navigated planning with them from afar throughout the pandemic. We were given an amazing variety of choices for our cocktail style reception - it was honestly hard to choose because everything they make is amazing. If you have the honor of working with Black Pearl for your wedding or event, you and your guests will be blown away. Thank you for everything, Walker and Katie!

nd very COVID-safe (we discussed a plan ahead of time that worked for our guests; all staff had two masks on; and each of the apps were so creatively plated to ensure portions didn't touch each other). We had a few people in our party with serious allergies, and they went above and beyond to make sure those guests were safe and got a dish equivalent in experience to the other people. I CANNOT wait to work with Black Pearl again and would highly recommend you do so soon!

g perfect. I am REALLY big on sentimental, well thought out details and Black Pearl did such an incredible job making my Pinterest board come to life! The food was incredible (people are still texting me sporadically saying they're thinking about the boudin egg rolls), the staff was so kind, and Katie was so great to work with and made my vision come to life. It was better than I could have hoped or planned for, especially in light of Covid. I am really picky and hate "wedding food" (I am the most judgy wedding guest of all time my now husband says) and it was paramount to me that our food feel more like dining out in a nice restaurant than eating dry chicken in a banquet hall. I cannot stress enough how fantastic our catering was from the flatware to the napkins to the smoked drum croustades. I love love love Black Pearl! 1000/10 would hire again.
Cannot say enough great things about Black Pearl. The food was amazing and all of my guests were coming up to me saying how impressed they were with the food. The presentation was ...
impeccable as well. They were very attentive. My mother has several food allergies, and they made sure to have a special meal prepared for her. My mom was very touched that they sought her out to make sure she was taken care of. Katie at Black Pearl listened to all of suggestions and concerns, and the customer service was beyond great. I’m so happy we had them as our caterer and highly recommend! I would not hesitate at all to hire them!
Black Pearl has delicious food and amazing service! We had box dinners delivered to the park for a safe pandemic wedding reception.
The menu choices were spectacular and unique....
Everyone raved about the food. And Walker arrived early to our hidden spot in the park and even helped carry chairs to our site. The boxes were pretty and each included utensils, wipes, etc.
Katie was incredibly helpful and personable while answering questions during my several phone calls.
I highly recommend Black Pearl for whatever your catering needs may be.
As a couple planning a wedding from Brooklyn, we relied heavily on reviews for food knowing we wouldn’t have a chance to do a testing. The reviews were spot on for Black Pearl. The...
presentation and food was absolutely flawless. Our guests loved it and so did we! Katie was an absolute pleasure to work with!!! I can’t thank them enough.

caring for and giving back to the New Orleans community when it has been in need. I WISH I had known about them when I got married! I will be recommending them to everyone I know for the rest of my life. If you want knockout food by the best New Orleans has to offer, you cannot go wrong with Black Pearl Catering. STANDING OVATION!
I would give Black Pearl 10 stars if I could! I have been planning events for 11+ years and this is the BEST catering experience I have ever had. Black Pearl & their staff are ever...
ything – kind, patient, flexible, professional, reasonable, delicious, decorative, creative and more.
We contracted them for a corporate event in New Orleans centered around the College Football National Championship. My client is always wary of "wedding vendors" as this is a more masculine, business group, but Black Pearl is the definition of "get you a [caterer] that can do both!" It was important that this dinner hit a few marks: not a wedding, not traditional chaffing dish buffet catering, a taste of New Orleans without just the stereotype dishes, and hit the very sophisticated (and littered with dietary restrictions) palate of our group. This is a TALL order for a group of 90+.
After months of back and forth with a very patient Katie, we finally came to town for a tasting. She and Chef Walker tirelessly addressed all our dietary concerns without blinking. It was the nicest, most enjoyable experience that completely solidified our choice (and raised the bar frankly too high for me when it comes to other catering tasting requests!). I can’t even explain how Black Pearl was able to create the New Orleans, but uniquely twisted menu for us, but it was absolutely perfect. Action stations with texture, color, sounds, décor – everything was presented so beautifully and part of the price.
I highly suggest pairing your Black Pearl catering experience with Cocktail Creative to ensure your bar is up to par with the amazing food. Quinn and the C+C group have an exceptional product and the craft ice, individually hand-smoked old fashioneds, delicate tiny garnishes, unique glassware and recipes made it a night everyone won’t stop talking about. Our event was at Race & Religious (another amazing venue I can’t recommend enough). I would recommend Black Pearl to anyone and if/when we land another event in New Orleans, they’ll be my first call!

ove and beyond making sure that the catering menu is unique and special and a reflection of the couple. He even served our favorite Jazz Fest dishes as our late night snacks! The food is out of this world amazing, not at all like your typical wedding/catered food. The food is also displayed so beautifully that it adds decor to the reception space. Black pearl also supplies the bar set up and all staff for food and drink service which is amazing! Everyone that we have seen since our wedding has commented on how AMAZING the food was. We will definitely use Black Pearl for ANY catering needs we have in the future. Walker and Katie are an absolute dream team!

to her side of the family. We decided to go for an Asian-Cajun fusion theme for the wedding, and Walker hit it out of the park. It captured a great deal of traditional flavors while still preserving that essence of Cajun food that is authentic to New Orleans. They were very easy to work and very open to any and all feedback during our tasting session.
Hunter and Katie are simply incredible. Thorough, generous, beautiful displays and high quality food. Not to mention, DAMN DELICIOUS! We love them!

Working with Black Pearl for our destination weddi...
ng in New Orleans was an absolute dream. Their self-proclaimed artisanal twist on traditional Cajun fare provided for a truly incredible dining experience at our wedding. It is not hyperbole or an exaggeration when we say that we had countless guests raving about the culinary delight that they enjoyed at our wedding, and not just in comparison to other “wedding food”, but compared to dining experiences in general. Our guests were offered a premier bite of food at every turn, from the cheese spread to the passed appetizers, the array of main dishes, to the decadent desserts. Using the term delicious would not do it all justice.
Backtracking to the planning process, Black Pearl could not stress enough that they were there to serve us. While we let their expertise guide us in crafting our menu, they also accommodated every last personalized detail that we requested. (Side note: do yourselves a favor and schedule a tasting. Your tastebuds will be quite thankful) And sure enough, when the big day rolled around, Walker and his staff executed our menu to perfection. Meanwhile, Katie, leading the charge in operations and logistics went above and beyond, basically doubling as an event coordinator and saw her thoroughly detailed wedding plan for their team unfold before our eyes. Having extensive knowledge of our wedding venue led to the most appropriate layout of different stations, each carefully located in such a way that served our guests in the best way possible.
We were so excited to have them as our caterer that we even utilized their services, on somewhat short notice no less, for our rehearsal dinner. True to form, they took an otherwise simple drop off catering order for a small group of people, seized the opportunity, and turned it into a wonderful patio dining experience for us. Because that’s who they are. Katie and Walker have developed Black Pearl Catering Company into the best catering company that you can imagine. They hold themselves to an extremely high standard and it shows. They were an absolute joy to work with both leading up to and on our wedding day. Hire them — you will not regret this decision. You will be amazed at how making this decision will enhance your wedding day to a level that you might not have realized that a caterer otherwise could.

riginally from Mississippi and I am from Southern Colorado so we discussed regional delicacies with Walker and Katie who in turn found ways to incorporate those specific flavors into a menu that still has our guests talking! There were even a few particular requests about food allergies and substitutions for some guests that they happily accommodated.
If you don’t want the choose column A, B, or C kind of menu that many wedding caterers offer and want something truly special made with fresh ingredients sourced as locally as possible, you’ve found your people!
LOOK NO FURTHER FOR YOUR WEDDING CATERER!
The team at Black Pearl Catering is absolutely phenomenal and by far the best wedding caterer I have ever tasted. Being from New Orleans ...
there are no shortage of choices for amazing food and picking the best caterer for your wedding can be stressful: no one wants average food at a New Orleans wedding---you want the best! Walker, Katie, and the team made sure everything for our menu was perfect and even helped us customize a menu that encompassed the flavors and cuisines my husband and I have experienced in our world travels while also doing the traditional New Orleans fare better than anyone I've tasted. EVERYONE couldn't stop talking and raving about the food! My only regret is I didn't take more to go of the bbq shrimp and grits or the etouffee for after our wedding because my husband and I finished our box within minutes! We loved the food so much that we are hoping the team will cater a dinner of our wedding favorites in the future for an anniversary (and we have only been married 3 months!). THANK YOU for keeping us well fed on the best day of our lives :)
If you're looking for catering in New Orleans, you can stop now because you've found the perfect team. Black Pearl was a true highlight of our wedding. Working with them during the...
planning phase was a breeze, and their easygoing yet incredibly professional approach made the process completely stress free. Their on-site execution was flawless, and the quality of the food was talked about by all of our guests. Weeks after the wedding, friends are still reaching out to tell us how the food was some of the best they've ever had. I cannot say enough good things about Katie and Walker – book them and you will be so glad that you did.
We were so thrilled with the menu that Katie and Walker put together. We had a Hindu wedding with a New Orleans style reception, and we wanted our food to reflect that. Walker put ...
together a creative menu that highlighted a few Indian flavors and also gave us the best of Creole/Cajun food. They made absolutely delicious mini desserts as well because we didn't want a traditional cake. Everything was personalized and done with care and precision. Our guests had great feedback about everything they served. We felt that the pricing was very reasonable for the excellent quality of food and service we received. Finally, the fact that they provided bar services but allowed us to independently purchase liquor was awesome, as it saved us some money and allowed us to serve only our favorite brands and types of alcohol.
First of all, we absolutely loved that we got to do a tasting at their home. It was a very special experience, especially since we're not from New Orleans.
Second of all, THE FOO...
D! They knocked it out of the park!! We had so many people tell us that it was the best wedding food they ever had.
Without knowing my husband and I very well, they listened to our preferences and made an eclectic menu that was perfect for us and within our budget.
We loved the little touches like the Fried Rice Jambalaya that was served in Chinese takeout containers. Everything was beautiful and delicious!
Omg! The absolute best caterers in the game! The food was incredible, unique, fun, and whimsical.
I almost cried at our tasting bc they made us feel so special.
Our guests raved ...
about the food on our wedding day like we knew they would. ;)
Black pearl co. even helped us organize bartenders and a specialty cocktail.
You are missing out if you don’t book them .
