We loved our whole experience with Black Tie. The food, from cocktail hour through ice cream sundae bar was incredible. They were responsive, easy to work with and helped us create the dream wedding food from start to finish. Many comments from guests that the food was "the best wedding dinner".
Our wedding at Camp Hammond was absolutely perfect. Amy was amazing to work with for the entire planning process, and our day-of event captain Delaine was also incredible. They were so responsive and professional throughout. We got so many compliments on the venue, the service, and the food! Everything was beautiful. The wedding day went very smoothly, so we could relax and enjoy without any stress at all - they took care of every single detail. Many of the other vendors we worked with mentioned that they consistently had great experiences with Black Tie, and that their events are known to be very well-run! We would 1000% recommend Black Tie and Camp Hammond! Thank you so much!
We had an exceptional experience working with The Black Tie Company for our wedding. Our coordinator, Amy Collins, went so far above and beyond to support us throughout this process. Amy went out of her way to help us with rentals, layout, and design. Black Tie's food was exceptional. The options were endless. Our guests were thrilled with the food and drink. Black Tie's staff were incredible. Several people commented on never witnessing a spoon out of place or a water glass below half full. We feel so lucky to have worked with Black Tie!
We had an amazing wedding at The Landing at Pine Point and so much credit goes to Black Tie. Britta was so easy to work with and the venue looked amazing. The food was especially impressive. As a wedding professional myself, and my wife as a large event organizer, we have enjoyed catering and observed organization at hundreds of functions and weddings, and can attest that Black Tie ranks with the best of them. Highly recommended!
We used the Black Tie Company for our wedding last month. What's great about them is that they offer everything! We used them as our caterer, event planner, some rentals, and day-of set up/break down. Heather was our coordinator, and she was so awesome to work with in the months leading up to the wedding and the wedding day itself! The food was amazing! Seriously, all of our guests raved about the food! All of the setup and day of issues were taken care of and I was stress-free the morning of my wedding, all thanks to Heather/Black Tie. The only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because they are on the pricer side. If you have room in your budget, I would highly recommend this company!
We had our wedding at the Landing at Pine Point and worked with Heather D. The venue, Heather and service from the Black Tie Co Staff exceeded all of our expectations. The venue is elegant and romantic, the food had rave reviews from all our guests, and Heather helped to facilitate the wedding perfectly. We cannot thank everyone for all their hard work and attention to details, making our day everything we could of ever asked for!
I surely do not recommend Black Tie catering for anyone to use. My daughter and son-in-law had them for their wedding at the barn at Walnut Hill in North Yarmouth Maine they had two bartenders one outside one inside the inside bar was so crowded and cluttered with all the alcohol bottles there was a small pathway that they passed the alcohol through instead of putting the bottles in a boxes behind the bar they put them all on top of the bar very crowded two bartenders had an argument and one of them ended up leaving. many guests mentioned this after the wedding. The food orders got mixed up for many many guest the portions were small the chicken , haddock, and the steak . Hors d'oeuvres were set up way away from the outside bar under a tree and many many guests did not see them. The wedding coordinator Nikki was an hour late. One of the guest had his wallet stold and was never found. My daughter had money taken out of her wallet. The next day when we went to help my daughter and son-in-law pick up Black Tie catering had taken all of the fairy lights that we had on the tables woven in with the arrangements 35 in all. Big big money to have them. do not hire them called took 2 weeks to get a hold of them and the response was blaming guest. Horrible horrible company.
We absolutely loved working with Heather D. at Black Tie Company. We had our wedding at Harborview at Jones Landing on Peaks Island this summer. Heather was incredibly responsive, detail-oriented, and helpful with suggesting outside vendors. All her recommendations were top notch, and she helped facilitate easy rentals when I wanted different table settings than what Black Tie could offer. She made sure to ensure not only a stress-free wedding day, but a seamless (and dare I say enjoyable) wedding planning process. I am VERY type A, and Heather answered every one of my questions promptly and kindly, even when I bombarded her with info! She created a dreamy space for our reception, totally bringing my vision to life for our big day. One thing that could've been improved (to no fault of Heather's) is the steaks. Unfortunately, although we loved them in the tasting, they were not presented in the same way at the reception. Also, we were made aware by multiple guests that they were too rare to eat. Fortunately, we heard a plethora of compliments on the other entrees and appetizers. I would definitely recommend Black Tie Catering - the best food and Staff you will find for your wedding!
The food was amazing. Our guests gave us so many compliments about the food for Black Tie. We had everything from passed horderves, stationary horderves, a catered buffet, and a large dessert station and it was all amazing! Keith was the captain at our wedding for Black Tie, and is absolutely incredible! He was very communicative and was always there if we needed anything. He worked extremely well with our vendors and always checked with us throughout the evening to make sure everything was going fine. Thank you again Keith!

Camp Hammond is the perfect venue for a holiday/winter wedding. The lighting is dark, soft, and glowing. The space is cozy, with the different rooms, the historical decor, and the fire places lit in each room. The venue is decorated for the holidays and adds to the the coziness and warm glow. The food is outstanding and the staff are excellent. A special shout-out to Heather for being an awesome events coordinator. Thank you for making our day smooth and perfect!
I recommend The Black Tie Co. to anyone planning an event in Maine, including small family gatherings up to very large weddings. The staff, particularly Amy Collins, went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend smooth, memorable, and very "us". We were planning our wedding from a distance and Black Tie made the decision-making process so easy. Amy was extremely flexible and responsive. The company provided excellent insight to help us make decisions along the way, in a timely manner. We used Black Tie for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and wouldn't have had it any other way. Highly recommend!
Where do I even begin? Our wedding planning experience was a little unusual. We had originally contacted Black Tie about seeing some of their locations in May of 2015 and went back and forth on deciding where to book for a couple of months. We eventually decided to have our reception through the Black Tie's venue The Portland Club, and everything was perfect from beginning to end. We worked really hard with our Black Tie Event Planner Madeline, and she was exceptional in every way (the Mary Poppins of wedding planning, if you will). There was a lot of communication to make sure that every detail on the contracts and event proposals were 100% correct, as well as being sure that every detail and expense was made clear to us. She could not have been a bigger help in that regard. She did a fantastic job providing us with full information on menu items, as we had some very strict dietary restrictions due to allergies to nuts and eggs. We also worked to make sure that our cutting cake and guest cupcakes were egg-free, so that the groom and his mom could have cake (guests are still raving about the dark choc. cake/white choc. raspberry filling/midnight ganache on top).
The thing that absolutely put Madeline and the Black Tie team at "above and beyond" status is the exemplary service we received when we had a huge setback in our wedding planning. I ended up having emergency abdominal surgery in October 2015, and the recovery was well over two months. In that time, I was unable to do ANY wedding planning, as I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and undergoing treatment that put me in a huge fog. I also had mobility issues, due to recovery from an incision that went from my chest to my bellybutton. During this time, Madeline allowed us to put a hold on a deadline for a payment. We also lost on our rehearsal dinner space during this time, because we were going to book it the week I went into surgery; but I was in the hospital, so we couldn't visit it. Once I was recovering, I contacted Madeline to let her know our dilemma, and she immediately started to work with us to have the rehearsal dinner with Black Tie at the Portland Club as well. It was such a last minute deal, but we were able to fit it in without any trouble.
When we had a group tasting with Black Tie, we ended up making some changes to our menu, based on new things we had tried. They also sent us home with cake tasting kits that included cupcakes in available cake flavors, as well as various frostings and cremes. The food was good at the tasting, but oh my word, was it amazing at the actual rehearsal dinner and wedding. We had filet and salmon (duo plates) at the rehearsal dinner, and we had a cocktail hour followed by a buffet for the wedding reception. Both meals were phenomenal and above anything I expected. You know how the food is just ok at most weddings? Well you will be blown away by the food by Black Tie at your events. My family is from Italy (right off the boat) and the many Italian immigrants who were at the wedding don't eat pasta when they go out, but they were raving about how good the pasta dish was. That is saying a lot!
Madeline and Black Tie were everything you could possibly want with a wedding reception venue and event planner. I am sitting here tearing up just thinking about all that she and the business did for us during such a difficult time in our lives. For this, I will forever encourage people to use Black Tie to host their weddings and events.
They did a fabulous job. Always available for questions prior to the wedding. Very easy to work with. Did a great job at the wedding, service was super, food was great and they did everything so I had no worries that day.
Shannon was wonderful to work with and worked directly with my other vendors to finalize the details so I did not have to worry about anything. She was sweet, friendly and adapted/coordinated anything I requested even when we were doing the final walk-through the day before and I wanted to change the table setup. She had great ideas and suggestions and was really helpful in pinning down the specific details of the venue setup and food so I didn't have to worry about anything. The food was absolutely divine and could not have tasted any better!
The Black Tie Co went above and beyond to make our wedding an absolutely beautiful success. I was a bit wary of the whole "wedding industry" but our coordinator, Maddie, immediately put me at ease by listening attentively to what we wanted, what our budget was, and offering helpful, kind suggestions along the way. She was thoughtful, highly professional, attentive and an absolute joy to work with. She introduced us to amazing vendors whom she coordinated with seamlessly behind the scenes. Her attention to detail and poise put us at total ease throughout the planning process. On the day of our wedding, her presence from beginning to end ensured that we were taken care of in every way. Our friends and family raved about the food, the bar tenders, and the way the staff moved effortlessly to keep things flowing. They took care of our vegan guests, had special champagne for me and my husband and met our last minute request for homemade whipped cream. They truly thought of everything, and put in 110% effort from the first planning moments to the clean up after our wedding. Absolutely the best vendor I can imagine.
We are very happy that we ended up working with TBTC. It was sort of by default since they are the catering company for many locations in our area, however we're glad it worked out in that way.
Our overall cost was a little more than we would have liked to spend, however, we paid for the quality that we received. They worked with us through every step, helping us make the best decisions for us. They listened to exactly what we wanted.
The food and drinks were delicious! We keep getting comments from guests "best wedding ever", "amazing food", "loved the signature cocktails" They had more than enough staff serving, keeping the room tidy, and making sure my husband and I had everything we needed.
We had our wedding at their home location of the Portland Club which worked out perfectly. It's right in town and we were able to have an "after-party" until 1am in the upstairs billiards room. It was exactly what we had envisioned for our day and we couldn't be happier!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company! Our coordinator helped us tremendously from day one and was professional and timely in getting back to us with our endless questions. She helped make a stressful planning process so much easier and smoother. The day of the event, another woman was in charge and did a sensational job, covering all the bases from set up to the food to the bars and to the dessert stations. Our venue actually had three separate buildings that we used for cocktail hour, dinner, and the reception, which made it extra challenging. Everything went so smoothly, it was truly incredible! We did a family style meal which everyone loved! The food was absolutely delicious with gorgeous presentation. They were accommodating to our guests that were vegetarian. The selection of food makes it easy to come up with a full menu and stay within your budget. My husband and I are so pleased that we chose Black Tie. From our first meeting on, I never worried about the food, which is in my opinion such an important piece of the wedding day. I had the upmost trust in Black Tie's service and after tasting the food, knew we could not go wrong. Their food tastes so fresh and flavorful. We highly recommend The Black Tie Company for any catering needs!
Overall Black Tie did an excellent job helping a plan, decorate and cater our wedding. I was especially impressed by the nice tasting they planned for us and the food at the wedding tasted even better than when we tried it the first time. I think the best part is that they handle almost all aspects of the wedding (catering, rentals, coordination, and cake) so it was a lot less for us to have to coordinate amongst other vendors.
After finding the place of our dreams to get married, it was impossible to make it happen! This catering company could not get the contract right from the beginning. It was extremely frustrating to call everyday just to talk about the terms of the contract that were still not right. We felt as though no one would listen or even cared to make our day special. I would not recommend this company to anyone needing an event planner or caterer and I truly cannot believe they are still in business with their extremely horrendous attitudes!
perfect casual setting for a rehearsal dinner-they did all the cooking in a family home, great timing, delicious food
We used Black Tie to cater our reception based on their reputation for making excellent food. They did not disappoint on that front, but during the planning process our coordinater, Camille, bascially stopped responding to our emails and telephone calls. When we asked why, we were told that it was because we were a small party (about 60 people) - even though we had already paid all of the deposits. It got so bad that we did not get a finalized menu until 4 days before the actual wedding, despite having been asking for it for the previous 6 months. Email requests for confirmation of particular details also went unanswered for 3 or 4 weeks. As a bride, it was extremely stressful to have these things left up in the air until literally right before the wedding. At one point we were even planning a back-up barbeque, just in case. This is not the type of service we expected from a company with such a top-notch reputation.
The actual wedding turned out to be fine in the end, with the staff very helpful and professional and the food excellent. But if we had it to do over again we would go with someone who would actually respond to us. Or at least insist on a different coordinator.
After taking over for Cityside Events ours was one of the first large events run by Black Tie Co. held at The Landing at Pine Point. They put on a flawless event! We got so many compliments on the food and the service bar and wait staff were amazing. They are true professionals!
This location is absolutely beautiful. There are many different options available however, their exclusive caterer (Black Tie) is a nightmare to work with (especially Camille). When we got engaged there was never any question regarding where we would be getting married because the answer was Pineland. Unfortunately, after working with their exclusive caterer for nearly 2 months--and getting nowhere--we had to give up on that dream.
The experience was horrible. I inquired through the Pineland website and was immediately directed to Black Tie's representative Camille who proceeded to tell me that we couldn't afford Pineland and to look elsewhere. Now, I'm pretty sure that is a decision to be made by the couple getting married once they have a proposal submitted. I didn't take no for an answer (because I REALLY wanted to get married there and knew that our budget was reasonable) and began trouble shooting. I asked about Sunday discounts, sharing chairs for the ceremony and reception to cut costs, getting married on the platform directly behind the tent where our reception would be held instead of in one of their other locations, bringing my own alcohol or buying cases of wine and beer directly from them to serve at our reception, bringing my own cake and cutting it. I literally started getting tent quotes of my own (since they have to use a tent vendor too) to get a better quote. I basically asked all the questions that any other vendor would have offered up as good information to know. She wouldn't help or budge on anything. She said that they don't offer discounts because they don't NEED the events like other venues do. Which basically means, if you aren't going to take the offer she gives you go elsewhere.
Unfortunately, her inability to communicate tactfully was not her only flaw. She was incredibly hard to get ahold of and get a response from. If you say you prefer email she will call you instead and getting an answer about anything that doesn't require a yes or no answer is impossible.
In short, working with her made me feel like an inconvenience and it was emotional and frustrating and stressful and everything you never want for a wedding planning experience.
So, I can't say I would recommend Pineland--as a wedding venue--to ANYONE and, sadly, it's not because of Pineland, it's because of the experience I've had with their exclusive caterer Black Tie. Wedding planning shouldn't be this challenging and--from what I've experienced with other venues since parting ways with Pineland--it isn't.
Best of luck!!
Pineland is a beautful location for a Maine Wedding. We got married in October at the Gazebo overlooking Mt. Washington. The pictures are beautiful and guests thought it was gorgeous. The reception hall is also a perfect spot with pretty views. All of the food is from the farms, so its Fresh...and delicious!
We were thrilled with our experience at Pineland Farms. Our wedding coordinator was very accommodating, professional, and fun. Everyone we worked with there were equally warm and welcoming. We even had our rehearsal dinner there at one of the farm houses you can rent (they have several fabulous houses you can rent there and we ended up using 3 different places). The location is absolutely beautiful, on a clear day you even have amazing views of the White Mts. and Mt. Washington. Everyone raved about how beautiful it was there, how friendly and helpful everyone was, and how amazing the food was (a lot of the food that Black Tie Catering uses there id right from the farm). My husband and I thought the whole occasion (3 days long) was perfect and would highly recommend Pineland Farms to everyone!
The ceremony at the gazebo was flawless, Amy Fickett the DOC is amazing, she was so helpful and made sure that both Jason and I were stress free. The cocktail hour went off without a hitch, they even made sure to provide the wedding party with food and drinks in our holding room. And catered to my dietary needs!!
The only flaw was that they forgot to turn on our paper lanterns, which in retrospect was not a big deal. The food was amazing at the reception, our guests raved about it.
Executive Chef Richard really went above and beyond our expectations. The bar was fully stocked the entire night. The venue itself was beautiful, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
