Blue Hill Farm is an elegant & classy country wedding venue with all the modern amenities and just the right amount of rustic charm. We entered the Washington, DC, scene in mid-2016 with a proposition to truly be a fresh canvas for couples to create the wedding of their dreams. The potential was evident. In January 2017, our first full year in business, Venue Report.com listed us as #11 out of 80 new wedding venues globally! No pressure there to live up to high expectations. We were proud to be the venue for a wedding featured in Southern Wedding's 10th Anniversary Issue in 2019, and for good measure, we were also listed in 30 Stunning Va. Wedding Venues along with some venues that we are in complete awe of. We began to realize this was no fluke. In 2021, we were listed among the Top 10 Wedding Venues in Loudoun County. Over 150 beautiful couples have started a wonderful new life together here, and we are proud to consider them all family. We are honored to be back-to-back winners of Wedding Wire's Couple's Choice Award each year from 2018 through 2023. We are also recipients of The Knot's Best Of Wedding Award every year from 2020 through 2023. We welcome the chance to hear from you and to get to know you and what your particular vision is for your special day. We have become very adept at helping deliver dreams and enjoy the opportunity of helping families and couples make powerful and lifelong memories, and we would love to do that for you as well.

He helped launch or reposition several political publishers including Politico, Politicker and TalkingPoints Memo as well as political technology or social media businesses including Vote iQ, Rocket Fuel and Targeted Victory in Washington DC and across the country. Following the 2016 Presidential cycle managing business development for a very successful political email operation under MediaDC, Waldo opted to do something completely different by embarking on this dramatically different path to use his life long skills building and improvings things to do something closer to home .

She says hosting a wedding is a lot like producing a TV commercial with location coordination, wardrobe, props, photography, etc. So it's a natural extension of her skiils as an art director/creative director. She is passionate about the visuals of the weddings and loves to help carry out the theme of the wedding by creating signage, additional florals and decorative accents.

, and made every interaction feel completely seamless from start to finish. They prioritized flexibility with our budget to help make our vision a reality, which we appreciated so much. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with a charming, relaxed atmosphere that made our wedding feel like an elegant backyard barbecue with friends.
The renovated carriage house was the perfect spot for our reception, allowing for an open-air, seamless transition between the tented area, the patio, and the yard for games. The landscaping was stunning, and the interior decor features are incredible. The reception tables were actually handmade by Waldo using wood from the carriage house, and the bar tops on wine barrels added the perfect rustic touch.
The house was also a fantastic space for getting ready. The upstairs bridal suite has beautiful lighting for makeup and offered a great vantage point to watch setup and see guests arrive. As a head-up for future couples, the parking area is located down a hill, requiring a short walk, but Waldo was incredibly accommodating and used the golf cart to transport guests with disabilities, young kids, and anyone else who needed assistance. To top it all off, their golden retriever, Yogi, came out for a visit later in the night and was a massive hit with our guests. We cannot recommend this beautiful location enough!

ming, yet Waldo and Shirley made it feel really calm and well cared for. Their attention to detail, flexibility, and thoughtfulness allowed us to enjoy the process instead of stress through it.
They were honest, fair, and incredibly gracious, and the whole experience felt personal and meaningful. The property and greenery are stunning and were a big reason we chose this venue. From beginning to end, the process was peaceful and enjoyable.

we could not recommend BHF more.
The beauty of this venue is the ability to create your specific day. Our vision for our wedding was a garden/backyard party with a little bit of an upgrade. We wanted it to feel sweet and welcoming while still feeling like a big event. Like the sweetness of a farm wedding without being too farm-y, you know? Garden but not rustic.
-The venue itself is gorgeous, and the flow of the wedding is so special and so seamless. At our wedding, it felt like everyone had a different experience. We had folks playing cornhole, chatting by the pool, and tearing up the dance floor. It really did feel like a magical and unique spot - the garden cocktail hour is lovely and feels like a little fairy garden
-The house is stunning, and the getting-ready photos are delightful. Super nice for the bridal party to have so many spaces to lounge and hang.
-Waldo & Shirley opened their home to us so, so many times, for walk throughs, for drop-ins, and for last minute questions. By the time we arrived at the day, it really did feel like our own backyard, which was incredibly special. Their warm, open, and always helpful demeanor was a unique gift - we wouldn’t have had the same experience if we had chosen a different venue.
-Waldo and Shirley are immensely helpful and so creative. They helped us execute our entire vision and enabled the little details that helped the venue feel like *us*, like a black & white dance floor inside the carriage house (100% recommend if you have the budget)
-Waldo and Shirley managed SO MUCH for us on the day of the event and before. They were such a blessing and managed so many of the small little things that came up - we never knew!!
We seriously could not recommend BHF more, and the photos speak for themselves. We had so many guests share that this was the most beautiful wedding they’d ever been to - both because of the beauty of the venue and because BHF is a venue that enables that wedding magic. You just can’t help but feel sentimental! Literally will be coming back again and again for our anniversaries.

nto an open date within the year. The setting was so beautiful and helped to make our day just what we were envisioning. Waldo and Shirley are amazing caretakers of their property and they really worked with us in all the details of our wedding day. Additionally, the option to use their props and furniture saved us so much time and money. Waldo and Shirley coordinated with our planner and vendors and saved us time and energy over the weeks leading up to the wedding. Their personalized approach was unrivaled in all the other venues we looked into during our search. They even allowed us to use their kitchen to prepare our bud vases before the rehearsal, saving us a lot of extra energy in prepping somewhere else and bringing everything on the day of. One of our favorite things about the process was having the space for the whole bridal party to get ready the day of the wedding. Having access to the venue for the whole Saturday eliminated so much stress and pressure that is present for many other venues. Our only complaint was some delays in communication once we signed the contact. In the end everything went without a hitch, it was just a bit stressful in the planning process. Ultimately, we loved having our wedding and Blue Hill Farm and would recommend it to anyone looking for a personal, flexible venue for their wedding or event.

and Shirley and seeing the breath taking venue that this was where we wanted to get married (in fact, we did not even bother to tour any other venues after this one because it felt so right!). Waldo and Shirley were always available for suggestions and questions and for multiple visits to the venue prior to the wedding. They have an absolutely amazing attention to detail as well! We were able to do decor drop off the entire week prior to the wedding as well which was really great and helpful! We were able to choose our own vendors but they do have a really awesome vendor list that we were able to choose the perfect coordinator from :) One of my bridesmaids was even early on the day of the wedding and Shirley was kind enough to make her breakfast (my bridesmaid swears it was the best breakfast she has ever had also!). We got married on June 7th, 2025 and it was an absolutely perfect intimate wedding. More perfect than my husband and I could have ever imagined! Our families and friends are still raving that this was the best and most beautiful wedding they had ever been to! <3

The weekend of our wedding was the one of the hottest days on record for June, which was a little more stressful then we planned, but Blue Hill and the team still made everything we could of dreamed of. We had a magical day.
The views are so amazing, our pictures we got back were so breathe taking with the beautiful scenery. You also get the experience of having your wedding move through out the property which give you so many backdrops and keep your guest moving. We got a lot of compliments on how each part of the wedding had a different feel.
Overall, if you are looking for a beautiful outdoor venue with a customized feel that you are part of the family, this is a wonderful spot to get married.

rley are the venue owners and are extremely kind and hospitable - Blue Hill Farm is their home and they keep the property in beautiful condition!
It felt as though we were getting married at our grandparents home (except that in this case the 'grandparents' are professional venue operators and know how to put on a spectacular day) as we opted to rent out the home for a few days leading up to the wedding.
We also had a rather complex vision for how we wanted things to come together and Waldo and Shirley were incredibly accommodating, generous, and kind. They also have amazing connections to a bunch of vendors (from stage rentals to sailcloth tents) which added a layer of simplicity to planning as well!
We would highly recommend Blue Hill Farm to anyone considering a beautiful venue.

Waldo and Shirley were beyond accommodating, communicative, and warm -- overall the most pleasant folks to work with. They even jumped in at the last minute and helped us find a new caterer when issues arose for us the week prior to the wedding. They were essentially our wedding planners in the process, and we couldn't be more grateful for their efficiency, organization, experience, and attention to detail.
We had our dinner in the big field behind the property, and with the autumn colors, it was just stunning. It was especially great to be able to customize the locations of the different elements of our reception -- the cocktail hour on the side of the house, dinner in the big field, and dancing in the carriage house. Our guests raved about the stunning views and loved moving around the property during the evening.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Waldo and Shirley (and Yogi, the couple's golden retriever!) and we're in love with what was the most perfect day at Blue Hill Farm. If you're looking for a magical place to get married, look no further!

We used various vendors from their lists. Waldo and Shirley can provide recommendations based on what you want and I recommend following them, especially when it comes to weather and contingencies. This venue allows you to customize your wedding day to be exactly what you want it to be!

We had a wonderful morning and afternoon preparing for our late afternoon ceremony and evening reception. The weather was sunny for the whole morning and afternoon - only sprinkling as soon as our ceremony was over. Waldo and Shirley were already prepared with the necessary tents and umbrellas for our guests to use during cocktail hour and dinner service. During cocktail hour, Blue Hill Farm let us invite wildlife ambassadors from a local wildlife rescue to visit to educate guests on cool local wildlife - Shirley and Waldo were so wonderful and flexible with requests such as that! We had three food trucks (a taco station, pizza truck, and BBQ truck) on the driveway and by the carriage house for dinner service...it went great EVEN when it was downpouring. The guests had a blast on the dance floor with a great live band in the carriage house and Waldo put together a bonfire for us after the rain stopped.
Sunday morning was our laid-back brunch for guests to say bye before they departed. It was a great way to end the weekend.
We are a couple who loves animals and having Yogi and the chickens around was a blast! Shirley and Waldo are so dear to our hearts and feel like family. We are already looking forward to visiting them again soon.

We got married here in June 2023, and are so grateful to Waldo & Shirley for opening up their beautiful home to us and our 140 guests. The whole experience...
was first-class. From helping us find vendors, to figuring out options for filters and fans when the air quality plummeted following the Canadian wildfires, Waldo & Shirley were on top of everything, big & small.
One thing that we loved was that we could do pictures + ceremony + cocktails + reception + dancing all in one place. Another was the flexibility to work with just about any vendor, and the license to do our wedding the way that we wanted. They worked with us hand in hand to bring about our vision, making sure the day was perfectly customized for us.
Being able to stay overnight at the venue also made set up and clean up very easy and efficient, something that we highly recommend. Plus Shirley’s egg & cheese biscuits were delicious!! Truly felt like our home for the weekend.
We will carry the memories (& picturesque photos) of our day at BHF with us for the rest of our lives, and can’t imagine a better place to get married.

Shirley and Waldo were amazing to work with and always available to answer our questions or work out the details of our special day. Shirley even cut flowers for our dining tables as a last-minute, perfect final touch on our decorations! vases, tables, and chairs), so that meant we could piece together what we wanted in terms of caterer, etc. Waldo and Shirley are very involved in the process and make sure all your ducks are in a row and they provided a very hospitable touch throughout the process, from planning, to day-of, to debrief. Tents are extra through one of their vendor connections, so the overall venue price was on the high end for us. That being said, we got tons of compliments on the venue (2nd only to the food!). Special touches like the fire pit and s'mores cart really made it a lovely night.

They also accommodated our requests to visit the farm several times to discuss the big day’s details. We envisioned a non-traditional wedding with a venue that made our day extra unique, and all we needed to do was add our personal touches, and Blue Hill Farm checked all the boxes. Everyone loved the ceremony on the front lawn, with a change of scenery for cocktail hour followed by the reception in the carriage house with a special bonfire in the back to keep warm and enjoy s'mores. However, the common feedback from ALL guests was how perfect our wedding day was, and we couldn’t have pictured it any other way.

We toured a few sites around NOVA but nothing compared to the charm of Blue Hill Farm. Waldo and Shirley went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend special. Many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to!
Waldo and Shirley were communicative throughout the planning process and brought our vision to life. Whenever we had questions throughout the planning process, Waldo and Shirley made themselves available. Their property is absolutely stunning and they have great taste in decor. Our event flowed nicely from an outdoor ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner in the carriage house. We ended the night dancing in front of the carriage house with string lights overhead—it was truly the perfect summer evening!
Waldo and Shirley also introduced us to the best vendors. Our photographer, caterer, florist, and day-of coordinator were all recommended by Blue Hill Farm and they were absolutely incredible. Waldo and Shirley’s strong relationships with a number of local vendors made our decision-making easy.
A huge perk of getting married at Blue Hill Farm is that they reserve the venue for your wedding party for the weekend, so you can add a rehearsal dinner and brunch if you choose and don’t have to worry about another wedding party moving in the next day. This value for the price is unmatched in the NOVA / DC area.

e very professional and helped us greatly with all of the planning and vendors. The house on the property was clean, well maintained, and perfect place for the wedding party to get ready. We had a short ceremony in front of the house that overlooked the gorgeous rolling hills around the property. The carriage house was great for dancing though we did have the dance floor extended out into the driveway to accommodate our size of wedding. We opted for a large tent behind the pool/carriage house for dinner, and it was really beautiful to eat there while the sun was setting over the venue. The Tibbetts can be very particular about certain things (especially the grass), but their attention to detail helped to wedding turn out great. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we were so happy with how everything turned out.

ding occasions. Although they required no mandatory vendors to work with, they had many suggestions from previous experience to helped lead us to hiring our food vendor, floral design, wedding coordinator and tent rental.
The landscape at their self-run B&B is absolutely stunning for photos with plenty of options for staging the wedding party including a handicapped access restroom and transport. Their property is impeccably manicured by the couple and offers a natural addition to any floral decor. Shirley was an incredible gift helping us create signage and florals and Waldo’s beautifully hand-crafted arches, tables, dance floor, carriage house and sound system was a huuuuge asset.
It was an added delight getting to have Yogi, their well-mannered pup, around at what felt like all the most opportune emotionally supportive moments. We can’t wait to visit and highly recommend them to anyone interested in throwing a beautifully memorable outdoor wedding.

rley and Waldo were an excellent team to work with in the months leading up to our special day. Our vision played out exactly as we hoped, due in many ways to Shirley and Waldo’s dedication to making our dreams a reality. Our vendors also played a huge part in the success of our day: Shirley and Waldo’s flexibility in allowing couples to bring in vendors of their own choosing made this possible.
Shirley and Waldo's experience in weddings was evident by how organized they were throughout the process. They even used Google Calendar to schedule out the key milestones in advance. They offer an all-inclusive option that gives couples full access to the decor and furniture they’ve collected and engineered over the years - this greatly simplified our planning. They also accommodated our requests to visit the farm on several occasions to work out the details for the big day. Shirley even added her own touches of fresh-picked wildflowers from their property to complement our decorations. And Waldo’s bonfire was a big hit, warming our guests on the chilly September evening.
We highly recommend Blue Hill Farm and the services of Shirley and Waldo. On the morning following our wedding (and after a fresh-cooked breakfast), as we took our leave of the Farm, it was like saying goodbye to old friends. Please check them out. You won’t be disappointed.

we will truly never forget is because of Shirley and Waldo. They are accommodating, kind and supportive. We still joke that we felt like they took care us of like we were their own children. Shirley will listen to your vision and make it come to life, while Waldo works through 99 degree Virginia heat to move and set up all the furniture. If we wanted it, they helped us figure out how to get it!
I don't think we will ever stop bragging about this amazing venue and experience!! If you're considering Blue Hill Farm, this is your sign to visit!

such a beautiful venue with kind-hearted and amazing hosts. We want to give a massive thank you to Shirley and Waldo for sharing their home with us and exceeding our expectations. When we were thrown an unexpected curveball just days before the wedding, Shirley and Waldo were amazing partners in helping us figure out our path forward and were also there for us as friends. We felt so supported and cared for and so did our friends and family. The venue was gorgeous and there were so many areas for our guests to enjoy the beauty all around the home (including the chickens!). Their flexibility throughout this process was great and we're extremely happy with our decision. We loved the opportunity to host our Rehearsal Dinner at the venue and then stay at the Bed and Breakfast the night before the wedding. This really helped to make the whole weekend feel connected to Blue Hill Farm. The bride, bridesmaids, and bride's parents had brunch with Shirley and Waldo on the morning of the wedding and it set such a wonderful, warm tone for the wedding day. Not to mention, Shirley cooks a delicious breakfast, complete with a BLUE egg from their very own chickens! The wedding day was absolutely perfect and that is in no small part thanks to the love and dedication that Shirley and Waldo put in behind the scenes to make it happen. We highly recommend considering Blue Hill Farm if you are looking for an intimate and personalized wedding experience.

The provided wooden cocktail tables, farmhouse tables, whiskey barrels, bar, and miscellaneous wooden tables were beautifully crafted and there were plenty for all of our needs. The carriage house is open and nicely decorated with many areas for the guests to congregate and move around freely, including a firepit out in the field. They have a lot of additional rustic decorations/props available for use if needed. It was a perfect weekend venue!

Their home is absolutely lovely and in a fantastic location (close to hotels, Leesburg, and Dulles). We really wanted a backyard, cozy, family-feel for our wedding and Shirley & Waldo opening their home to us definitely helped achieve that! Some highlights: Yogi (their golden retriever), the bonfire, the gorgeous kitchen/getting ready space, Shirley & Waldo's attention to detail & service, the view from the front porch, the carriage house as a dance floor, and the gorgeous gardens. The property is absolutely stunning with views of rolling hills, accented by tons of beautiful flowers and trees, a charming carriage house, and all the space you need to create the wedding of your dreams. In addition, Waldo and Shirley are the most gracious and thoughtful hosts who are dedicated to helping you have a perfect day. My husband and I had a very specific vision for what we wanted to do – from the food to the décor – so another big selling point for us was that Blue Hill offered flexibility (rather than other venues that felt like “wedding factories” who had limitations when it came to vendors, timing, etc.). Speaking of flexibility – we were one of the many couples who had to reschedule our wedding due to covid and Waldo and Shirley were so understanding and patient as we shifted our plans. It could have been a very stressful scenario, but we were able to keep all our plans intact and just shift our date to 2021. Our actual wedding day was picture perfect and I can honestly say that I had zero stress the entire day. Waldo and Shirley were very involved with our plans and have an organized system for keeping tabs on all the details to help things go flawlessly. The venue itself is breathtaking and our guests commented on how beautiful and relaxing the property is. You have tons of options for where to host the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and take photos so it is ideal for tailoring each of your wedding events to exactly what you envision. I truly feel like we got married at a family friend’s property – Shirley and Waldo made us feel very at home (from the first day we visited to the final sparkler send off on our wedding day) and helped us plan and execute an amazing wedding. Thank you, Blue Hill, for helping us host a very happy, lovely wedding!

Shirley and Waldo went above and beyond to make sure everything turned out the way we wanted and were very accommodating and reassuring. We appreciated the flexibility they offered in planning a wedding that fit our size (75 people), let us use the vendors we wanted, took advantage of different parts of the property so that our guests could spread out, and, most importantly, felt personal to us. Picking a wedding venue was a big decision and we have no regrets. Highly recommend Blue Hill Farm!

y the best hosts, but they became as our best friends to advise us during this time. Not only did they care that every detail was perfect for our wedding, but they also showed their human side and noble hearts by offering us their support and affection. Throughout our interactions with them, starting from the time we first contacted them, then at the time we let them know about my husband's cancer on the eve of the wedding, up until the death of my husband just a month later, and even to this day, they have always showed love, sincere concern and moral support so that Brian and I had the best day of our lives and were able to fulfill our dream. Although our marriage lasted only a month, the wonderful experience that Blue Hill Farm gave us, the beautiful memories we made at the venue, the sincere affection and heartfelt ties that were formed that day with the hosts, will remain forever. We always prayed to God to lead us to the right venue, the one He Himself chose for us and to send us the right people, and God is so good that not only did He send us to the most beautiful venue we had ever seen, but He sent angels to our lives so that they made our wedding a beautiful event full of blessing. I will always be grateful to Shirley and Waldo, and their entire team of wonderful people for their affection, their love and their help in our most important moment, but also support during our most difficult moments. Their organizing of our wedding was excellent, but beyond the wedding, they showed a special love toward Brian and I, and I am forever thankful for the beautiful impression they left in my heart and in my memories; And I know that Brian from heaven is also grateful and happy with the best venue and the best hosts and friends that can exist to make a wedding the most wonderful day in the world. In less than 30 days in the midst of the pandemic Waldo and Shirley created our dream wedding!!! May 8th 2021 was a great day thanks to Waldo and Shirley.

Shirley and touring their venue you quickly felt as if you are being welcomed into their home. The wedding itself was beautiful, efficient, and perfect coordinated. We had roughly 100 guest many of which were impressed by the scenery of Western Loudoun county. With 100 people there was no issue with parking, the venue housed everyone easily.
The views are not done justice by pictures, I recommend a tour in person to get the full illustration.
The Tibbetts did a perfect job of setting expectations of what we needed to get done on a short time (30 days!) and are very helpful along the way. Waldo's relationship with multiple vendors helped us to have a very stress free process while coming down the homestretch.
Our original venue cancelled on us with a very short notice putting our wedding in jeopardy. If it wasn't for Blue Hills Farms I'm not sure what we would of done.
Bri and I would highly recommend the venue not only for the beautiful view but because I trust Tibbetts to give you the wedding your bride dreamed of since she was a little girl.
