This is long overdue, but I want to share how eternally grateful we are to have partnered with Jenny at Blue Moon Events for our wedding this September. We would happily recommend her to every single couple getting married in the Chicago area. We not only got impeccable advice and structure to ensure our wedding went off without a hitch, but we truly had so much fun in the planning process with Jenny’s kind and infectious energy. We knew we picked a winner when we were having so much fun laughing on the first Zoom call that it ran way over – a trend that continued throughout the next six months.
Jenny went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding was truly what we wanted, even when we weren’t always sure what that was. Jenny was able to provide guidance on all the ins and outs we weren’t thinking about and keep us on schedule with the important dates & decisions. Much more importantly, after getting to know us and our vibe, she was able to offer suggestions that were tailored to us when we were stuck on decisions. When we weren’t sure what we wanted to do for photos as we weren’t doing a full wedding party, her suggestion of bopping around to our favorite spots around our neighborhood was one of the most memorable highlights of our day.
Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel to have partnered with Blue Moon Events throughout the planning process, and we hope that everyone getting married can have the same experience we did.
Okay, if you read nothing else, read this: I am a therapist, and hiring Jenny and Jeff at Blue Moon was the NO.1 best money spent for me and my husband’s mental health. Period. Want to hire the BEST version of your best friend or family family member who makes you feel like you’re the only client in the world? HIRE THEM!!! (Okay, but now read the rest of this review too!!)
From the moment we met, they were so friendly and warm, making us feel at ease during the stressful wedding planning process. We knew they cared about actually delivering a wedding that was OUR wedding from the first 5 minutes of the meeting, with the way they asked for details about our vibes, our love, our goals, and our aesthetic. Everyone who attended our wedding said how it felt exactly like us, and how every detail was warm and thoughtful and not cookie-cutter at all -- and this was exactly what we wanted.
Jenny was our lead coordinator, and she made herself available for zoom sessions, emails, and texts long before the actual wedding. We now consider Jenny a good friend and are inviting her to our Top Chef bracket next season -- seriously. Jeff was a dream as well. I (the bride) first met Jeff the day of the wedding when he came to pick me and the girls up to go meet the bros for photos, and he felt like an instant family member. He carried all our stuff, kept us on schedule, kept us hydrated, and allowed us to all be 100% “passenger princesses” the entire day, so we actually enjoyed ourself. He absorbed any stress we would have had about being on time for everything -- so thank you Jeff!
They were genuinely fundamental to the success of our wedding, and our mental health staying in tact. They helped us stay calm, and kept everything moving in the right direction behind the scenes so we never had to worry about a thing. They suggested vendors all along the planning process, and they even stayed late to pack up the wedding decor, and delivered it themselves to our apartment THAT NIGHT. Full service doesn’t even begin to cover it!!
Best money we spent on our entire wedding, as they genuinely made ALL our money spent and all our vendors chosen feel so perfect for us, for our budget, and for the best day of our lives. Jenny and Jeff, you are legends and we can’t wait to have you in our Top Chef bracket next season!!!
I’ll be honest: we had a 12/10 wedding. It was, like, significantly amazing. And it probably would have still been really great if we had coordinated it all on our own, but I will never be more glad about a decision we made than I am about booking Jenny, Jeff, and Allison of Blue Moon Events.
I’m a high school teacher, so “organized fun” is what I do all day. We would have been able organize the wedding day pretty decently. It would have been, at least, mostly fine and fun.
However.
I would have spent my entire wedding day in teacher mode, “working.” My husband and I would have been checking items off on to do lists instead of letting ourselves be blown over by the emotions of the day, wrangling relatives instead of connecting with them, setting up a million items (and getting sweaty and frazzled) instead of being dazzled by the venue, and putting out fires instead of sipping cocktails.
Instead, what did we do? We enjoyed the hell out of our wedding. When I arrived at the venue on the wedding day and saw Jenny with her clipboard and beaming smile, I immediately felt calm and sturdy and ready to enjoy myself. I let my guard down and had the best wedding ever.
Ahead of the wedding, Jenny helped us finalize the nagging decisions we couldn’t make by centering the “us” in our wedding and helping us make decisions we felt most comfortable and joyful about. Next, she put every detail in one extremely organized document (the “blueprint”) and completed the dozens communications needed for the many vendors in one tidy fell swoop. Jenny’s comprehensive foresight is the reason that a whole bunch of things didn’t go missing or need to get solved at the last minute.
During the wedding weekend, Jenny and her team took care of everything -- it was incredible. My husband kept checking in with Jeff about details, to which the answer was consistently, “Yup, that’s already done!” My husband eventually laughed at himself for his anxious fussing and went off to enjoy his wedding instead, because Blue Moon had it all in hand. They wrapped up all the details at the end of the night, and we were free to simply head out to keep celebrating at a bar with our friends in wedded bliss.
More important than anything else, though, was Jenny and the team’s support of our vision for our day. I still tear up thinking about the glimmer in her eye in our first Zoom call when we described our dreams (including, among other things, a 30-person amateur chorus that may have made other wedding coordinators run for the hills), and the warmth in her face when she saw it all come to life. Jeff and Allison were equally thrilled about and dedicated to the vision and the details. Also worth noting: they are extremely sweet people. Like, human teddy bears, except extremely competent and efficient. Exactly the folks you want by your side on the biggest day of your life.
So the choice to hire BME is both a choice of making sure that the truly massive amount of work of a wedding gets completed, organized, and executed according to your vision. But it is mostly a choice about prioritizing yourself. Those moments you're supposed to prize: gazing out at the beautiful room of everyone you have ever loved, locking eyes with your spouse and saying, "we're married!" -- we were free to absorb them all night long. Handing the reins to BME allowed us to enjoy the ride.
In conclusion: hire BME. Hand over the reins, and let them take care of you. You only get married once. Enjoy the ride.

They made our wedding day so seamless coordinating with all of the various vendors and were so worth every penny spent! We are beyond thankful for them and helping make our wedding day so incredible!

Jenny. is. incredible! We simply cannot overstate how wonderful she was to work with. We hired Blue Moon Events as a day-of coordinator, but we got so much more! We met with Jenny via zoom regularly throughout the wedding planning process (over a year), emailed with her regularly, and relied on her for advice about everything from tipping our vendors, to the wedding day timeline, and so much more. Not only did we find a queer-friendly wedding coordinator, we found an ally. Jenny is such a gem! I'm so fortunate that I found her to help with my wedding. I hired her before the pandemic even started and she worked with me over 2+ years to calm my nerves, give me directions as well as just be a shoulder to cry on when things were hard. Jenny and Jeff were excellent to work with. Jenny started working with us the day we hired her(and even gave us a bunch of great tips before we even did). Both Jenny and Jeff were extremely attentive and present on our wedding day and having the support of not one but two people was really beneficial. They are also really nice people! We found Blue Moon Events pricing very competitive as well. We really could not recommend working with Jenny and Jeff more, they helped make our wedding day a great success.
DO NOT GET MARRIED WITHOUT BLUE MOON EVENTS. Jenny & Jeff are an incredible team who made my wedding the best day. I don’t know what I would have done without them. They think of EVERY little detail and know how to make your wedding perfect. Every call or text I had with Jenny before my wedding made me feel more and more at ease with planning everything. She made me feel so much less stressed and more excited. I didn’t have to worry about a thing on my wedding day because I knew Jenny and Jeff had everything covered. Hiring Blue Moon Events as our day-of-coordinator was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! From our first conversation, Jenny made us feel both at ease and excited about the big day. We met in person about 12 months in advance, and she was incredibly helpful, providing advice and recommendations on remaining vendors to select. Communication was a breeze, and she was always quick to respond whenever we had a question throughout planning. From ~6 weeks out, Jenny was on top of it, coordinating our final venue walkthrough and working with all our vendors. The day-of blueprint and timeline she pulled together was AMAZING – I had many bridal party members comment on how thorough it is! We didn’t have to worry about logistics at all. I was especially grateful for the insight, guidance, and care Jenny and team took to help us navigate a few family-related items – we knew we were working with a team that wanted us, and our loved ones, to have the best day. On the big day, Jeff and Allison were rockstars and took care of our group from start to finish. They also helped us take care of some last-minute changes – once we asked them, we knew it’d get taken care of. Everyone loved them! From helping fix a bridesmaid dress snag, to providing hairspray to the ladies during photos, and wipes to remove makeup from my dress – we really took advantage of the event emergency kit Blue Moon provides! Not only was the bridal party taken care of, but so were our parents and loved ones at the wedding – Jeff provided our moms with tissues pre-ceremony, and he was ready with the high-heel relief spray during dancing! When we came back to our hotel post-reception, all our personals from the wedding were organized back in our room – including my bouquet in its vase with water. With this team, us and our loved ones could simply enjoy the celebration all night long. We have nothing but amazing things to say about Blue Moon Events. Just book them - you’ll be happy you did!
We hired Jenny not really knowing if we needed a coordinator, but it was definitely worth it, and probably the best decision we made. I cannot say enough kind words about working with Jenny and Jeff, they were literal lifesavers for our day. Jenny was so responsive and communicative, and really helped make our day feel special, personal, and beautiful.
I truly don't know what I would have done without Jenny and Jeff on my wedding day. Leading up to our wedding, I had zero anxiety because I knew Jenny would not let me forget anything big and would make sure I stayed organized and on track. They are both fun and hilarious and kept us laughing and having fun leading up to the wedding and on the day of.
Unfortunately, my father died suddenly the week of my wedding. I can whole heartedly say without Jenny's support I'm not sure I could have gone on with the wedding. She communicated with all my vendors to make sure everyone knew and took care of all the last minute changes that had to be done now that there wouldn't be any father/daughter wedding events. She kept me on task after when I didn't feel like checking my emails and was such a strong shoulder to lean on. Not only that but she rearranged her day to make sure she'd be with me all day on the day of the wedding. Jenny and Jeff, I don't know how we could ever express our thanks to you.

I can't say enough good things about Jenny and her team, and I know that our wedding would not have gone as smoothly without their help. Jenny jumped in everywhere I needed her, and took the lead in dealing with our vendors especially in those final few (very stressful!) weeks leading up to the wedding. At all times, Jenny was calm, friendly, and basically just solved every problem, behind the scenes and before I could even begin to panic. On the day of, Jeff and Amanda were phenomenal. They handled every single detail seamlessly and happily, and between the two of them, somehow managed to do the jobs of about 6 different people. Looking back, hiring Jenny and her team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day!
Jenny and Jeff are amazing! I don't know what I would have done without them at my wedding! Jenny prepared a blue print and was in constant talk with all of my vendors of what the timeline was for the day. The day of the wedding Jenny was so on top of it- she had all my place cards out, all the decorations, delivered food to my hotel room there was not one thing I had to worry about because she handled it all. We went for pictures outside and my dress got dirty and Jeff made sure to clean it before the ceremony. I love Jenny and Jeff, I could not recommend them more, Thank you for everything Jenny and Jeff we will always remember everything you did for us!
My husband and I had our wedding back in November at Salvage One. Choosing Blue Moon events as our day-of event coordinator was one of the best choices we could have ever made. Our entire day went off without a hitch. Jenny and Jeff kept everyone organized, helped with set up, helped with transportation, and literally every other thing you could possibly think of. My husband’s button on his tux popped off 5 minutes into our wedding party photos. Jeff fixed it within minutes. The shawls I bought my bridesmaids came out wrinkled from their bags. They ironed them for us. I am a very organized person, but sometimes things go wrong that are out of your control. It was so nice to go throughout our day without a single worry or concern. My husband and I were able to have an amazingly fun day because we knew that everything was taken care of and that everything would go smoothly because of Jenny and Jeff. Jenny also makes a detailed blueprint for all vendors and an abbreviated version for everyone in the bridal party that gives a nice outline of the day so everyone is on the same page with timing. Every other vendor we worked with for our wedding commented on how great the blueprint was, or that it was the best blueprint they have ever received. Both Jenny and Jeff are incredibly approachable, caring individuals that pay such attention to detail. If I could give them 10 stars I would.
Hiring Jenny was one of the best decisions we made in the entire wedding process. My mom and I knew we wanted a day of coordinator to help make our lives easier, but we couldn't have imagined how helpful it actually ended up being! Jenny and her husband went above and beyond to help make our day great. The blueprint she provided was super helpful to give to our bridal party. They set up a ton of our details/decorations at the reception (including name cards, table numbers, guest book, welcome signs, etc.), picked up our party bus food, checked us into our hotel rooms with our luggage, locked up/put away our gifts, tipped our vendors at the end of the night, and even helped us get ginger beer for the bars at cocktail hour so people could have Moscow mules! Jenny and Jeff were truly willing to do anything we needed to help make our lives easier and they were worth every penny. It was so nice to not worry about all the little things on my wedding day!
Where to start? Working with Jenny and her husband, Jeff, was one of the best decisions I made in the wedding planning process! My now husband and I (okay, mostly me) managed so much of the planning leading up but when it came to the crazy month leading up and the actual day of, it was amazing to have help. Enter Jenny! She came recommended to us by Toast & Jam and the best vendors in Chicago definitely know the best.
We had an initial meeting with her and Jeff early on and walking away we just told each other, “they’re just so NICE and NORMAL.” (It’s weird how that isn’t always common in the wedding industry.) She asked us great questions and always made us feel like it was our wedding but she was there to help make it better and deliver! Of course, her guidance and expertise were crucial into having the final day be what we imagined.
In the month leading up, Jenny was always there! She attended the final walk through at our venue a month in advance, delivered an amazing day-of blueprint for us and wedding party, was always available with a quick phone call or e-mail (no matter the hour…), and even led our rehearsal at a non-traditional venue. My husband and I had our siblings officiate the wedding and, needless to say, they were new to this. Jenny even took time to connect with the both of them separately – to say she goes above and beyond is an understatement.
Fast forward to day of the wedding! Jenny and Jeff were ON IT. They delivered items to the item, picked up styrofoam coolers for the shuttle (yep, we forgot), and set up the venue to PERFECTION! One of the biggest things is that she tried our friends and family with care and respect and we received so many compliments through the course of the day. Same from our vendors! They also kept our glasses during our reception which probably contributed to the late night song & dance party that our wedding evolved into at the end of the night. No regrets.
Long story short – I cannot thank them enough. Jenny isn’t just a part of the wedding planning team, she’s a leader who is the best to have on your side. If you can’t guess by now, I DEFINITELY recommend Blue Moon Events!

My husband, mother and I hired Jenny as our day of coordinator. We were so fortunate to have found Jenny. It was very apparent from our first meeting how much she truly enjoys her job.
The planning:
From the moment we hired her she was always readily available to answer any questions we had, checked up on us monthly and made sure we stayed on track of what needed to be done. We ran our ideas by her and she definitely let us know what we really needed for the wedding and what we could forgo. I am an extremely detail-oriented person and Jenny was the perfect fit. The planning documents she created just for us, were AMAZING! And she was fantastic with response time. We had our ceremony and reception at the Genesee Theater on 9/3/16. Unfortunately we had an issue with our caterer 3 weeks prior to the wedding and Jenny helped us find a stellar catering company. Throughout the whole planning process you can definitely tell she was genuinely excited for our big day. It was very evident how much she cared about us. In fact, we lost my father three months prior to the wedding and Jenny was so wonderful on a personal level and helping us get back on track, as we had put the planning on hold. It truly was like working with an old friend!
The execution:
AMAZING. Until you plan your own wedding you will never know the things that go on in the weeks leading up to your wedding. Phone calls and emails are non-stop. There are so many little details that could be overlooked. Jenny took over as the contact person for all of our vendors which included catering, floral, photography, videography, make-up, ceremony site managers, chair & chandelier rentals and our live band. She coordinated with everyone as to when and where they needed to be while finalizing any last minute things that they needed to do. All of our guests had a fantastic time. Our dream wedding was to be married and have dinner, drinks and dancing on stage with all of our closest family and friends. Jenny and her team definitely made that happen. The whole night went by flawlessly and we have her to thank.
Overall:
Professional, personable and perfect. Jenny is amazing at what she does and we are forever grateful for her.
