Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts

As an out of state bride, I wanted a small wedding where everyone felt like they could enjoy their time and vacation a bit. I could not have chosen better. My family and friends loved the place and all the views that came with it. The staff was also very efficient and accommodating especially when we moved the ceremony up earlier on the day of due to rain. Jessica was amazing to work with and was very helpful with ideas and any problems we had.

If you are thinking about a North Shore wedding, you should absolutely be thinking Bluefin! Jess and all of the Bluefin staff are incredible, the setting on Lake Superior is unbeatable, and our wedding went off without a hitch. I cannot recommend Bluefin enough for your event!! My now-husband and I wanted to keep our wedding small and hold it in a location that held meaning for us. We have been up to the north shore every year as a couple, and once we realized it was possible to get married up there, it was a no brainer for us. We toured several local resorts that boasted wedding venue options. Bluefin was easily the best, and we quickly decided that we would be getting married lake-side. Jess (the event manager) was incredible from the first moment connecting with her to schedule a tour. On the tour, she was so helpful and accommodating, it was easy to picture getting married in their space. Jess and her whole team deserve the highest of praise. I have received so many compliments on the wedding, but by far my guests are pointing out the service we received. The bar and wait staff were INCREDIBLE. Like the best ever. They were so attentive but also laid-back, which was exactly what we needed. The people at Bluefin are second to none. Of course, the setting is hard to beat as well. Many guests have complimented the lake-side ceremony as unique, intimate, and special. Jess and her team had everything set up perfectly for us, and I could not have asked for anything better. Our annual trips up the shore will now include a stop at Bluefin, and I feel very lucky to have such an incredible place be the backdrop for an incredible memory. We had an absolutely amazing wedding day and rehearsal dinner site. The staff and service was above and beyond amazing. We had a couple of guests that are prominent in the food/catering industry come and rave about the food to us the night of the wedding and still days later! (Get the Walleye! It’s to die for, and couldn’t ask for better in the land of 10,000 lakes!). We booked our venue back in 2016 and had 2 different venue coordinators during that time, Jeremy and Jessica, both of whom were wonderful and had clear communication. Our ceremony site, Tofte Cove was picturesque! The only negative thing that we had happen was that we had some minor hiccups along the way with the sound system on the day of the wedding, but they went to extreme lengths to get everything taken care of. Our party raged until midnight/hall close (Sidenote: They are VERY generous in their alcohol pours) and the shuttle driver and staff agreed to let us stay later and take the party out back to the bonfire, which they relit, and came back to pick everyone up after 1am when everyone was satisfied. (Did I mention that full use of the shuttle service was included with our venue?!? And that our shuttle driver was the coolest, nicest guy ever!!!) For our Rehersal dinner, we had full use of the gas grills (they are first come, first serve and we had several family members and ourselves staying at Surfside) and took over the fire pit area. The staff brought additional picnic tables over to the bonfire to accommodate our 28 person party. (They had even offered us a backup location in case it rained) I could go on forever about how wonderful everything was, but I will end it with this: We wish the day could’ve lasted forever! Our wedding will be the one that all of our family and friends talk about for years to come as the most memorable wedding, and it’s all thanks to Bluefin Bay, our coordinator Jessica and the banquet squad! Thank you for the wedding of our dreams!

Do not have your wedding here! they went through 3 event managers while i was planning my wedding! Our food took over an hour at our rehearsal dinner and when I finally told the manager we were upset the food came out in 5 minutes so I'm not sure what the hold up was. Guests were given a list of alcoholic drinks to choose from even though that wasnt part of the menu we agreed to and since the grooms parents footed the bill that went on there tab. my father in law had just lost his job due to medical disability. I was furious! There were supposed to be shuttles taking guests to the reception hall so they wouldn't have to drive or find rides after the reception where alcohol was served. The shuttles never showed. Jessica Hupler gave me her cell phone number, but I couldn't get reception to call her. Cell phone reception is really bad there. When I checked out of the resort I confirmed that everything was paid in full and I also double checked with Jessica the night of the wedding that we were paid in full. A month or two after the wedding Jessica asked for a copy of the contract I signed. I stated I never signed one, because I didn't! I was sent one to sign, but I must've forgot and they never asked for it before the wedding. Now I have another person asking me for the evidence that I paid my $750 deposit, which was paid over 15 months ago My online bank statements don't go back that far. Why did they wait so long to ask for this evidence!? In conclusion I would not recommend going here for a wedding!

We have been to Bluefin Bay about 10+ times and have always had a great experience. The one bad experience was our wedding. New staff, new management. We will be returning to Bluefin but only for the regular staff that we have gotten to know well, especially at the Grille. The servers there are amazing as is the food.

We could not have been happier with Jeremy and everything at Bluefin. It was simply perfect. Our wedding in the cove was stunning and intimate and the reception was a wonderful party, lasting all night long! We felt so comfortable with Bluefin and appreciated all the small details they did to make our day everything we hoped it would be. We heard from so many guests how much they loved the weekend and the resort, which was our goal, a north shore vacation for our favorite people. Thank you so, so much Bluefin, we're so thankful we choose to host our wedding with you!

My husband and I can't say enough good things about Bluefin! We chose to have our wedding there as it was a place we had previously vacationed and absolutely loved. The same sentiment held true through our wedding. The event coordinator, Jeremy, was always available to answer questions and responded quickly to email. He worked with us to accommodate our requests and our guests needs. The staff at Bluefin was helpful and very professional during our wedding and reception. The food was beyond amazing as well! And to top it all off, the scenery steals the show! If you're planning a wedding, Bluefin Bay is a wonderful option to explore!

Bluefin made our wedding so wonderful and special. We cannot thank them enough. Everything was perfect!They helped make our weekend there extremely memorable. They helped setup the reception area. They made us a special radish with a C + R on it in the shape of a mushroom (our initials). They gave our kids free breakfast the next day when they didn't need to. They sent free champagne to our townhouse when we arrived. They gave us a voucher to come back and stay two nights free later. They packed up the reception area so we could go enjoy time with friends and family. The food, venue and staff were wonderful. They built the fire for s'mores which took place after the reception. Jeremy Matthys we cannot thank you enough for the time and effort. From our guests we have only heard great things about their experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

Bluefin Bay made our wedding unforgettable. It has only been a few weeks since my husband and I had our special day in Tofte, but the joy we had on that day has yet to leave us. We looked around at other venues around the north shore, but we kept coming back to Bluefin as it seemed like they were more genuine than others and were looking to provide you with excellent service at a competitive price. Throughout the planning, we maintained great communication with Jeremy, the marketing and event manager, who was always there to answer our questions and provide all the information we needed without being pushy. He was always prompt, professional, and polite. Bluefin and its staff provided a stress-free day for and us and the planning couldn't have been any more convenient. It felt great to have a contact that we felt we could really trust and that when the day came, everything would be handled with care. We were most fortunate to have a perfect day in the middle of July in Tofte, but we can honestly say that even if the weather hadn't done its part, we would have had just as great of time because the staff at Bluefin did theirs. The staff had everything set-up prior to our arrrival, and really made us feel like the weekend was about us and our guests. Jeremy and the staff provided a great amount of flexibility and were always looking to accommodate us and our guests. The staff provided an excellent dinner and the reception was set-up even better than we had imagined. The staff worked quickly and did everything with a smile on their faces. Bluefin worked great with our vendors and us to have all the plans set in place and all the details thought out, both large and small. We visited Bluefin a couple of times to look at the venue and see what they had to offer. Jeremy immediately gave us the feeling that we had made the right decision. The location is truly special and the made for beautiful photos. We decided to do our ceremony in the cove, and we loved it. The view was breath taking and it was a truly special moment for all of family and friends to be a part of. We also stayed a couple days after our wedding at Bluefin, as we couldn't get enough of the area or the resort. Waking up to the views of Lake Superior never get old. We had also spent the weekend at Bluefin for our engagement, and it provided us with such relaxation and great memories. The amenities are great and all of our guests could make a vacation out of their time there. We can say with a 100% confidence that Jeremy and the staff would help to make anyone's wedding day unforgettable. If we could go through the process again, we wouldn't change a thing and wouldn't have it anywhere else. Us and our family members will continue to make trips to Bluefin during all the seasons to enjoy the endless beauty and all the resort has to offer. Bluefin Bay was the perfect place for our wedding. Jeremy and staff were all wonderful to work with and every detail was spot on. From the small intimate to the large party, bluefin can accommodate your needs. The location, view, food, and staff are all amazing!

They had all the amenities we were looking for--including a wood-burning fire place! Nice place, not far from many beautiful attractions. Good food as well.

I chose Bluefin Bay as I had been going to this resort since I was a little girl and the location is gorgeous. After I decided this was the place I started working with Jeremy Mathys (Events Coordinator). After just helping my sister with her wedding I was blown away by the exceptional service I got from him. He was extremely accommodating, patient and sincere. I was able to get everything I wanted and when there were hiccups he was able to come up with a reasonable solution that day! As far as the location goes, it was gorgeous! I would highly suggest it if you are planning a wedding of 100 people or less. I got married in their cove area and it was breath taking. Additionally, the food was very good. It was a bit pricier per person, but when you are having a smaller wedding it doesn't add up as quickly and the food was worth it. If you don't believe me ask for a tasting. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to any bride looking to get married on the north shore!

We went to Bluefin for a 4 day mini honeymoon in early May. It was amazing! We stayed in Condo #1 which was right on the water and next to the resturant. The kitchen had everything we needed. There was wood there for us to burn in our fireplace and the jacuzzi tub and glass shower were just what we needed to unwind. We will be coming back every year!

The rooms are absolutely gorgeous! We went during off season and got a great deal. The food at the grille and cafe is amazing, and there is so much to do. I would recommend it to anyone!

Bluefin Bay is great for anyone! We only had a few days so we did a few activities but mostly relaxed. There is so much to do and they have so much to offer but it is the perfect setting for a leisurely hike or just relaxation. The food at the restaurant on site is wonderful and the setting again is beautiful and romantic. We will be going back for sure!

The Bluefin Bay was a beautiful place for a honeymoon! The room was great, staff were friendly, and there were many fun outdoor activities that the resort provided.

Beautiful place to honeymoon! Very comfortable room with view of Lake Superior, whirlpool, king size bed, and woodburning fireplace! Lovely scenery, free smores every night! Very hospitible! We'll definitely be going back!

We got married in the "cove" and our guest commented that this was the most beautiful cermony they had ever been to! Our day turned out perfect and the reception at Surfside was amazing. If you looking for a intimate cermony space with a small guest list this is it.

Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts was an incredible wedding venue. They catered to and accommodated our every request. We had a Friday night welcome event, Saturday reception and Sunday morning brunch and broomball game. The staff was gracious and even our guests said they felt like the honored guest! Also, what we received for our money was a great value.

Our North Shore honeymoon was great. Only 8 miles from Lutsen, we went snowboarding 3 of the 8 day trip. The food was great. Be sure to try the pizza at Coho Cafe. We got a couple's massage at their Waves of Superior Spa. The service and prices were great. We will definitely return.

The location was excellent. The food was fantastic. The wait staff were pleasant and accomodating. What was lacking was organization and customer service from the Events Coordinator Kim. She often failed to return my messages in a timely manner or at all. I had asked if a staff person could be available during the outside wedding ceremony to assist in case there were any issues such as trouble with the microphone. She refused and of course, the sound worked fine for the music, but it was not loud enough for all of our guests to hear our vows which was disappointing. We had paid for coffee service during the cake, but the wait staff didn't know this and they never put the coffee out until after most of our guests had eaten cake when I informed the staff the coffee was missing. They even managed to misspell my name on my card with my food choice. I don't regret getting married on the North Shore. It was a beautiful place to get married and and we have fantastic pictures and wonderful memories of our wedding day. If I could do it again, I would choose a different North Shore location or request to work with Jeremy only. He was fairly new in his position as the Assistant Events Coordinator but he seemed much easier to work with and sincere about making our day as special as it could be.

Bluefin Bay is a beautiful location with great food - perfect for your North Shore reception. Temperance Landing has gorgeous cabins to rent. We held our groom's dinner at the cabin and ordered pizza's from Coho cafe. Everything is very delicious at Coho! Our wedding weekend was great. The only downfall - the event planner was slow to respond at times. But our evening was fabulous!

We spent some time here during our honeymoon. What a great escape after all of the wedding comotion.

Bluefin Bay Resort was excellent. I had no idea what I was doing, but Kim helped me out every step of the way. She gave me options without trying to pressure me. We did most of our conversing was done via e-mail, so I was blown away when I got there the day before and everything was set up better than I had envisioned it! She took a lot of the stress out of the planning. The staff was pleasant and helpful. To top it off, the resort is breath taking. Sunrise over Lake Superior was my view each morning. They offer a variety in accommodations, so there is something for everyone. My wedding was perfect!
