Came across this vendor when searching on The Knot. Pictures online were gorgeous and had the rustic feel we wanted to capture. We met with the owners Doug and Brenda and it was settled! Throughout the entire processes and months leading up to our big day, Brenda and Jackie where there to answer any questions that we had. During our 30-Day meeting, Brenda made sure we had all of our I's Dotted and T's Crossed. She also insisted that she had all of our vendor contact information, to ensure deliveries were being made on time! We elected to rent out the entire venue the day of the ceremony (for a fee) so we had it exclusively to ourselves. There was another couple there when we arrived that was finishing up their 30-Day meeting. While this wasn't communicated with us, as we did pay extra for private use of the venue for the day, Brenda did apologize for the mishap and made it right. Doug was also extremely helpful during Friday Decorating, making sure we knew that if we needed anything at all, to just let him know. We had asked to move a few things around, and he said he would take care of it!
All in all, we had a great experience and beautiful wedding, thanks to Bodega. This is the place to pick if you're looking for a rustic/outdoor space with amazing photo opportunities!
Wow, after having a venue drop out with 3 weeks left till our wedding, Bodegas came through for us big time! Everything was great from start to finish and the we feel the owners are like family now after all of this! Beautiful venue and wonderful staff that went above and beyond to make sure our day went according to plan. We cannot say enough good things about this place and plan to spend our anniversary here every year!
We got married at Bodega Vicctoriana September 22, 2018 and I truly have nothing but positive things to say about the venue and owners Brenda and Doug. We had a large guest list and they helped us to make it all work smoothly and how I wanted it and were very flexible with our ideas. They were very helpful throughout the whole weekend and I felt as if I had hired a wedding planner as they helped to make things run smoothly behind the scenes. We paid for the weekend package and it was very much so worth it with setup on Friday and cleanup on Sunday. The DJ they recommend (Sounds Fantastic) was wonderful and we loved using them as they know the venue very well. They allowed us to bring in our own caterer which was nice!! I truly loved the venue and my guests had nothing but good things to say.
If I had any regret at all or one thing I would have changed would be to pay for a shuttle for guests as I felt that people left very early due to the distance of travel.
My husband and I were married at Bodega in fall of 2017. We had picked the venue because of the beautiful outdoor ceremony space, rustic and open reception bard, elevator access, tasty wine and the ability to bring in our own vendors (food, DJ, photographer). While our special day was beautiful, the coordination day of by owners Doug & Brenda was far from tasteful.
They seemed completely unprepared for the scale of weddings they were taking on and inappropriately took their stress and frustration out on our day. From blaming us for damages to the barn in the middle of our wedding reception to claiming we were stealing the pumpkins we brought into the venue as decoration… their attitude towards us was highly unprofessional.
At one point when loading out the final boxes, my brother was using the stairs outside the main entrance, which were still damp and muddy from the earlier rain. He slipped going down the stairs and grabbed for the railing, the railing broke and my brother fell down. Instead of asking if he was okay, Brenda shouted, “What did you do?” My brother was not hurt but any one of their patrons or my guests could have been hurt walking down those stairs with such an unstable railing.
Looking back our day was beautiful but we do wish the venue had not tarnished the experience.
PART 1: I recently got married at Bodega Victoriana. The views and facility were out of this world. However, if I were to do my wedding over I would NEVER pick to do it there. I had a lovely wedding mainly due to the family and friends and how beautiful the venue and decorations were….BUT I will always remember a gray cloud over my wedding weekend and I’m extremely heartbroken over it. I will list out all the reasons as to why I came to this conclusion.
-The venue has a lovely dog, Coco. She is friendly and nice and loves to play fetch. However, many of my family and friends helping decorate did not care for her as she was always in the way and very stinky. Also, there was multiple guests who encounter stepping in poop on the ceremony lawn. And even an infant picking it up. I was not pleased to hear this complaint coming from my guests.
-We had met with the owners and especially Brenda on multiple occasions (4+ times). All of those occasions we toured the bridal/groom suites and confirmed we were using them as part of our wedding package (although, not specifically called out in the contract, only VERBAL confirmation). The most recent visit was 3 weeks before the wedding where we filled out the planning sheet. Brenda took notes to open up the suites at 7am as we had scheduled hair/makeup to begin at 8am in the suites. The photographers, videographers, stylists and all the bridesmaids were scheduled to be there that morning. We began to decorate Friday afternoon. When I arrive on Friday to decorate I had a bridesmaid come up and tell me that we were no longer allowed to use the rooms because last minute the owners’ friends wanted to stay there because they were having their anniversary party on Sunday. That immediately angered me and my groom as we verbally talked about this numerous times. I went down to talk to Brenda and she said he would have to call Doug. Doug came to talk to me and at the time I was not ready to have a conversation due to being heated. Doug later came and found the groom and me to talk. Not to go into too much detail but there obviously was a miscommunication between Brenda and Doug and us. We had confirmed we were using the room 3 weeks prior and now there was a change. They ended up letting us have the rooms. However, there was an argument that did not need to happen—Doug argued with both of us about how they had been “more than gracious to us” and came off condescending. The needle that tipped the haystack was when he directed a comment to my mother and groom, “Hopefully, we can try in make her happy.” This comment was not in a sincere fashion. I spoke up and told him it was disrespectful to talk about me like that as if I wasn’t standing 3 feet from him. All in all this situation did not need to be this way and I was extremely disappointed with the customer service and bedside manner on this gentleman especially, the day before our wedding. I lost sleep that night before our wedding replaying the conversation.
We had our wedding here in October of 2016! The wedding barn is gorgeous and I love how it doesn't look like a traditional wedding hall - it makes for beautiful photos! We booked the entire weekend and it was well worth it for decorating and clean up! I have two pieces of advice after booking this venue. First, when drawing the layout for the wedding on the form they provide, make sure you have every item labeled so when the owners help with set up they know where things go. This doesn't matter if you book one day or the entire weekend! Label label label! Second, spend some extra money and provide a shuttle for your guests! We did this, and I feel like people stayed longer and enjoyed themselves a little more because they didn't have to worry about the drive back into town. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating the day of the wedding. We couldn't be happier with this venue and we love supporting local veteran owned businesses!
Brenda and a Doug make wedding planning so easy and simple. They give you a checklist once you book and all of their vendors they recommended were perfect! Gibbs party rental had everything for us, centerpieces, linens, etc. Sounds Fantastic Music is an excellent MC and awesome DJ. Tori Bruno Photography captured our day in ways I didn't know what possible. All of these people plus Bodega made our day perfect!!
