We were in between two caterers, and extremely happy we went with Boston Catering. Boston Catering customer service was responsive and also great with follow up reminders when we needed it. For our tasting, they were accommodating, and thoughtful. It was personalized and we left with so much leftovers. As the wedding got closer, we had so much fun working with them, and highly recommend them for your wedding. For context, we had a wedding of just over 150 people. We had passed hors d'oeuvres during our cocktail hour, and offered a plated dinner with 3 choices (fish, steak, and vegetarian options). We included an ice cream bar, but sourced our own wedding cake (Boston Catering cut the cake for us though). Boston Catering also handled all the rentals for flatware, linens, tables, and chairs that weren't provided by our venue, and handled bar service. Our guests still tell us how good our food was, and how lovely the wedding was. We couldn't agree more.
We had an amazing experience working with Boston Catering and Events! We did a few tastings prior to picking a caterer and were immediately impressed by how delicious everything was with Boston Catering and Events. Darcy was so flexible with working with us to create our vision of a family style meal, get things within budget and even helped with providing decor items! Everyone loved the food at the wedding and the staff including Bianca was INCREDIBLE. One of our fav moments from the wedding was when they pulled my husband and I aside at the beginning of cocktail hour to have a private moment together to enjoy our apps before the madness of the reception began. Thank you so much for making our day perfect!!
Wow, Boston catering blew us away at our 7.13.24 wedding! Darcy and the team provided incredible service for all three of our wedding weekend meals (rehearsal, reception, Sunday breakfast). They made the planning process incredibly easy, were responsive to our many questions and requests. The staff at our events went over the top with service and made our guests feel well taken care of! To top it all off the food tasted amazing and received rave reviews from our guests!!
Boston catering just did our tanglewood wedding and it was such a pleasure working with Rena there. She really was so helpful from day 1 and made sure everything was how we wanted it. The food was beautiful and absolutely delicious our guests were all telling us how amazing it was! The tasting was so fun and they really make it a wonderful experience.
We chose Boston Catering and Events after they were recommended to us by our venue. Our mouths started watering as soon as we read through the menus! They offer so much flexibility with menu options that it was the perfect choice for us. We did our tasting almost a year before our wedding and we were all still dreaming about the food when the wedding finally rolled around. Darcy was so easy to work with; she is so organized, knowledgeable, and on-the-ball. All the team members we worked with during the weekend (they also helped with our Sunday brunch) were so nice, gracious, and attentive. I would definitely book Boston Catering and Events again!
Boston Catering did an wonderful job for our wedding. I am a super picky eater and I loved everything! The food was amazing and we got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS! Everyone we spoke with said how good the food was. I worked with Darcy and she was very niceNd responsive the whole way through. I highly recommend Boston Catering and Darcy. <3
My fiance and I hired Boston Catering & Events for our wedding reception. It was a pleasure working with Darcy and the food was incredible. Their staff was very attentive and professional and our guests complimented the food the entire night.
Boston Catering and Events provided a five star experience on our special day! They were super accommodating and willing to do anything to make sure we had the best day. Darcy is an absolute rockstar! She helped us with communication with vendors, setting up a tasting to suit our needs, and planning out our seating template. She is the event planner you dream about having when planning your wedding. When we increased the size of our wedding, some rentals became unavailable but she was able to find the rentals we needed through different vendors. She connected well with our venue planner, Patrick, and together they provided a dynamite experience! We barely noticed the rain once we made it under the tent because the staff of Boston Catering provided such an amazing dinner. When I looked over at the staff running trays with umbrellas over each one, I couldn’t have imagined better service. They were thoughtful and made sure to pay attention to details. Our wedding guests continuously complimented the food, how well everything was cooked and presented. I would use no other caterer but Boston Catering and Events for a special occasion. Absolutely incredible!
I cannot recommend Boston Catering and Events enough. This review is a long time coming, as it's been a whirlwind since our wedding on May 15 but I'm filled with gratitude when I consider their incredible work that made our reception so memorable. Our wedding occurred during the period when COVID restrictions were in the process of being lifted in the state, which I'm sure offered logistical challenges in terms of maintaining safety and attending to a bigger guest count then was possible for 2020/early 2021; however, they constantly rose to the challenge despite the uncertainty of the process, as many rules and regulations changed during our planning period. Working with Darcy was an absolute pleasure- she is beyond thoughtful and considerate, and so flexible and responsive. You get a sense that she genuinely cares. In addition, on the day of we received so many compliments on the gorgeous set up, as well as the food- it was delicious, not always a given when it comes to wedding meals! I saw so many clean plates following dinner. The dessert station-including whoopie pies and an ice-cream bar- was a huge hit as well. The waitstaff was so gracious and sweet with us and our guests, as well as attentive and non-intrusive during events such as the cocktail hour and toasts. Their professionalism really struck out to me.
So many guests came up to us to compliment the entire event, and have continued to do so afterwards. In addition, I was consistently impressed by how prompt and attentive BCE's replies were from day one whenever we reached out. They were also very transparent when it came to cost and working within our budget. Everything was itemized in a clear, concise way. They made the whole process easy and helped us focus on what matters most. You will not be disappointed if you work with them. I would recommend them to any couple who wants an unforgettable celebration! Thank you so much to everyone at BCE who made our reception happen. I hope this helps couples who are making big decisions for their wedding planning . Choose BCE, you will not regret it.
What can be said about Boston Catering other than they were amazing to work with! we got lucky enough to work with Darcy who was everything you’d want in a vendor. From the time we booked Boston to the day of our wedding they were so involved, coming to detail meetings at my venue and being in close contact via email. We didn’t have to think or worry about anything the day of our wedding, Boston catering took care of everything! On top of all of this, they’re prices can’t be beat! The food was also DELICIOUS! highly recommend this vendor!
We had originally picked a restaurant to cater our wedding because we wanted authentic tacos. They fell through due to some criterion they didn't meet with the venue. We had to scramble with only about 3 months to go, talked to about 10 caterers, Boston Catering and Events (and Darcy Eidle in particular) rose to the top quickly. They worked hard to meet our relatively low budget AND deliver the unique wedding food we wanted. We ended up with an awesome cocktail hour spread that stayed on the Mexican food theme. Then our taco bar went from just tacos to 3 different kinds of meat, a lot of topping options, different tortilla options, sides, etc. It was so good and everyone keeps telling us how refreshing it was to have good food they loved at a wedding! On top of that, we had a nightmare experience with our rental company who was to provide all of the chairs and tables (no big deal) and they fell through about 10 days before the wedding. Darcy had followed the problems and had already reserved tables and chairs for us at a different company she trusted just in case! The night of the wedding, my stepmom and mother in law overheard the catering staff all synching their watches to the same minute. They were on top of everything, my wife and I didn't have to think about a thing the day of, and they met all of our wishes. Darcy, on average, answered every email of mine within an hour. Everything was perfectly coordinated and they even set up all of our decor for us. They saved our wedding and made it everything I had envisioned! I can't recommend them enough.
We started working with BCC the August before our May wedding. Marieke was helpful and responsive, and we were looking forward to having her help us run our wedding.
Then she left two weeks before the wedding. Things happen, we get it, and Allison, her replacement, was willing to meet with us ASAP to go over everything. We felt reassured and ready to go, although responsiveness dipped quite a bit the week before the wedding. Fine, it's a busy time.
Then, on the day of, we literally saw Allison once. Three people from the caterer were overseeing our wedding, and we barely saw any of them the entire time. Our photographer had to find us forks for the cake cutting. But more importantly, they forgot nearly 2/3 of the food we had ordered for our cocktail hour. They also didn't plate the salads we wanted plated, but that's more minor.
To be fair to them, the food we did serve was very good, the servers were nice and helpful, and we got reimbursed for the food we didn't get. We honestly would give them 3.5 stars if possible, but they didn't quite live up to the basic tasks we expected of a caterer.
Marieke was amazing from day one. After caterers laughed at our budget, Boston Catering was the only one willing to truly work with us. After speaking with Marieke on the phone, I knew there was the potential that their services would meet our creative needs and fiscal restraints. Overnight, Marieke had personally reached out to us with a beautifully crafted and personalized menu with a target price. Once we added the linens and glassware, we were only slightly over our original budget. Marieke was easy to communicate with, understood our needs, and worked to make our wedding feel our own, not cookie cutter. We had amazingly delicious passed gourmet hors d'oeuvres ranging from pulled pork to beef tar tar and fat free options (fancy veggie spring roll in rice paper) for particular guests. The presentation popped with color and creativity--I couldn't be happier. The caterer did seem to rush us a bit at the end to cut the cake, but we believe this was just an overlook in the scheduling details.
Our daughter got married in Boston on a beautiful, crisp Fall afternoon in October. It was held at the Lyman Estate. The Lyman required that the caterers be chosen from their exclusive list of ten companies. We are from the South (Texas) and after calling most of the caterers, we were in "sticker shock". Prices were about 3 times the prices in Texas! We wanted to get the biggest bang for our buck, and we finally settled on Boston Caterers. Because we were literally 2000 miles away, I was very nervous about getting it all arranged and coordinated. The most amazing thing about Boston caterers was Marieke Drillio, the wedding & social event coordinator. She was always very warm and prompt to respond. If I had any questions to ask, I could text her, or send her pictures & ask for her opinion. She never acted irritated or rushed. She basically held my hand through the whole thing, and I felt confident and comfortable about the wedding. Boston Caterers set everything up for the reception along with our decorations, and it looked amazing! And the Lyman Estate is just a gorgeous setting. Even though we did not have a wedding planner, Marieke helped keep the wedding on track and the reception flow smoothly. The food was good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I would recommend Boston Caterers for your wedding reception because is was a great value, not only for the food, but especially for the intangible value of peace of mind (with Marieke).
This caterer will work to make your event go as smoothly as possible - from coordinating rentals, to preparing the perfect menu to your taste, helping coordinate people and activities during the wedding, and ensuring the bride and groom are well taken care of! We absolutely enjoyed everything about the food and service - I can't tell you how many guests commented how great everything was and how amazed they were with how smoothly everything ran! Thank you again (and a special thanks to Marieke who kept me sane)!
BCC helped make all of my wedding day dreams come true. The food was amazing and the pie bar was a huge hit. Our day of coordinator was on hand to fix any problems and went above and beyond his job description. When paying my final balance, I was able to drop off all of my decorations, favors, place cards etc.. and BCCs staff set up everything to look exactly how I had pictured it to be. It was a perfect wedding.
Marieke was great to work with. She understood my vision even though I couldn't quite explain it. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! Everyone loved the stations and the ice cream sundae bar was AMAZING!!!
After attending a bridal show near the beginning of my engagement, I received a voicemail from Bianca at Boston Café and Catering saying that I had won a free stationary display valued at $150. When I called back to claim the prize, I was told that I needed to speak to Bianca directly. She was unavailable. I left a message for her to call me back. When she did not return my call after a few days, I tried again. Again she was unavailable. This time I asked if I could have her email address. After I emailed her, she wrote me back the next day saying she had been bogged down in meetings and could she call me tomorrow. I replied that I would be expecting her call the next day. She never called. SIX days later, she wrote me back saying she had been “out sick and in many meetings over the last few days” and asked when a good time to touch base that week would be. I responded with good times to call and also suggested that discussing it via email would be fine with me since that seemed to work better for her. I never heard from her again, and at that point I just cut my losses and gave up. I understand that I was only trying to redeem a door prize and not a paying customer. However, I was planning a wedding, and one would think they would want to treat me well to persuade me to become a paying customer. Maybe it was just this particular woman who had terrible client relations, and she may or may not work there anymore, but I when I explained to another lady that Bianca wasn’t returning my calls, I was told that here was no one else who could help me. I would not recommend this company, and if I am ever looking for a catering company in the future, I would not consider them.
we used boston cafe because they had done events at our venue in the past. it was a unique space so we wanted someone who was familiar with it. marieke was very attentive early on in the process, but as we got closer to the wedding there were quite a few details that she kept missing. the food was great and in the end our wedding was wonderful but there was added stress because i had to double check her work. there were a few mistakes on her part that cost me more money and she never apologized or offered to make it right.
In the early stages of my planning process, I knew right off the bat I wanted Boston Cafe and Catering to cater my big day. I had worked with them before when I planned events for my old job, so I knew I could depend on them 100%.
My amazing coordinator, Sarah Stone always made herself available. We met 4x before the date, not to mention our "check in" phone calls. She guided me along the entire way. As the oldest in my family and the first to get married, I was clueless with how to plan a wedding from scratch. She effortlessly handled all our details we wanted to include in our decor and accepted all last minute changes. The serving staff at our wedding was also very helpful and very nice.
The food was phenomenal. My guests are still raving about the appetizers and soup shooters! The boneless braised beef was also such a yummy success! One server made sure my husband and I had drinks and food during the night, which was helpful because we saw how easy to was to get distracted.
Thank you Sarah and thank you everyone at BCC!
xoxo

We loved working with Boston Cafe and Catering. Marieke was extremely helpful during the planning stage, and the entire staff was very friendly and professional. The presentation was beautiful and our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was! I highly recommend using Boston Cafe and Catering for your wedding!
My husband and I had looked around for a few catering companies and were not sold on any of them. That is, until we met Marieke and Eric! Marieke (the wedding event specialist at Boston Cafe) was so friendly, informative, and professional to work with! She was so responsive with all our questions, needs, to bounce ideas off of -- just so easy to work with! Other vendors would not respond in a timely fashion, give us the "run-around" or not be open and honest with their thoughts and prices. Not the case with Marieke at all! We got married on a Thursday, and the management was even willing to cut us a deal!
Then when we had our initial tasting -- the food was so delicious! To top it off, the chef Eric came into the room and asked us how the food was! Coming from a family that's very familiar with the restaurant business, I knew this guy cared about his food and really wanted to please us! We even requested him to be our chef for our big day -- the food was so savory, beyond amazing! All our guests, and my restaurant-owning relatives were super impressed!
It was not a hard decision at all to go with Boston Cafe & Catering. As a bride that planned the wedding herself, Marieke was all I needed! She, Eric, and their colleagues (Savio, Denise) were such a helpful team throughout the entire process, and my wedding day was like they said -- "the best day of your life."
Ours was a small event (60 guests) and as such did not have a very high price point for the caterer. Two of the three companies whom I interviewed treated me as such. NOT SO, with Boston Cafe and Catering! From my first conversation, I had my fingers crossed for a competent kitchen and good food. Ashleigh Wasson bent over backwards to make our event easy & fabulous. Along the way, I developed relationships with Fiona (catering supervisor) and Melanie, BC&C's delightful receptionist. To any bride who is planning a party herself: you call the caterer a LOT in the last days. The receptionist can make or break you when your catering liaison is not available when you call! BC&C's executive chef was very helpful in planning our menu and very gracious in making every change we requested. We dedicated a significant portion of our budget to providing good food & wine. Our dollars with BC&C were well spent. We have received a great deal of feedback about how much guests enjoyed their meals. The waitstaff was tidy, efficient, friendly, and well schooled in French service. Best of all, the staff for BC&C were simultaneously very punctual and very "go with the flow". Mother Nature threw us a curve, and our wedding day was mercilessly hot, humid, rainy AND windy. When we found ourselves sweltering in the smaller gallery during the cocktail hour, BC&C simply asked folks to enjoy the A/C in the larger gallery and extended service to the opposite side of the museum. After dinner, instead of seated dessert and coffee service, BC&C staff moved chairs to the galleries and did a passed service. They were completely flexible and proactive in dealing with the unexpected glitches of the day: all without breaking a sweat or getting frantic about the change of plans.
Don't use BCC for your wedding, use them for a corporate event. I didn't feel like they had the same awareness for details that we did and other caterers. We fell in love with our first coordinator which is why we went with them, but I wish I had gone with Off the Vine catering in hindsight. BCC lost the first coordinator, then the second, then they tried to put us with a 3rd event coordinator and we were so pissed that they paired us with Sarah who has been with the company forever. Sarah was great to work with for the last couple months of our planning, but in the end, it just felt disorganized, she didn't do a walk through with us, and she up'ed all the quantities a week before the wedding, said "enjoy your weekend, let's chat about this next week" and then when we chatted said we couldn't change them because we were a week out from the wedding and we were stuck with the cost because it was in our contract which was signed a year and half prior (and I was not reminded of this line item) - regardless of the contract, the quantities hadn't been changed ALL YEAR, they had already been set and agreed upon with the previous coordinator, and all of a sudden, in the very very last edit, they up everything. I felt totally dooped. Bad profit BCC. On the day of, NO ONE took care of us during the cocktail hour. We had to get all our own drinks, I had one waiter come up to me with an app. I never saw any waiters walking around with apps, my guests all said they only saw 2 or 3 of them and we had 6!! Where were they!? Thankfully, one of my bridesmaids went right up to the chef and insisted that they make us a plate of the apps since we didn't get any of them. I liked all of them, except the caprese brusechetta which was just a tiny piece of bread with nothing on it and lobster roll which of course was the most expensive. They said they'd use a half of a slider roll, hollow it out, lay a piece of lettuce, then the lobster - NOPE - it was a full slider roll and a small blob of what looked like lobster salad and it was SUPER oniony. Not what we were told it was going to be like, just looked cheap. They also didn't put out knives for the carving station, told my now husband that "we ran out of them" (what?!), then a bmaid went up and they pulled them out from under the table...at that point everyone had already had their meat and no knives. They also said they'd box up the leftovers and leave them in the venue's fridge which didn't happen. They didn't refrigerate the top tier of my cake, didn't tell me, and when we went back two days later to pick up the leftover stuff, it was sitting out on the counter. Thanks BCC. These are little things, but after the year and a half of not feeling confident with their service, they just proved me right and I felt so icky about how they increased all the quantities right at the end which increased my cost and it was already so expensive to begin with (and not worth the cost!).
I would not recommend Boston Cafe and Catering for your wedding. I felt so much stress the whole time I was planning with them and even on my wedding day, my now husband turned to me and said "I hope they don't mess this up". None of us were confident and I wouldn't want any other bride to have to go through the same issues I did.
