Overall, our wedding and vendors were wonderful. It was a great night! The bartending vendor was one of the few concerns we had from the evening. This bar service was the only alcohol vendor allowed by my venue. When attempting to finalize info...rmation the week of the wedding, this vendor was not easy to get in touch with by phone. We also attempted to email asking about when we could share final numbers in September, but did not receive a response to that specific email after calling a few times as well. The vendor did send a separate email later, 5 days before the wedding.
There are a few issues I had with this service. First, when I gave final numbers, the owner insisted that the number for guests must match the catering numbers we gave. Our catering numbers included underage guests, adult guests who do not drink, and vendors. I questioned this, and after some back and forth, the owner created new pricing for underage guests, but all guests above 21 were expected to be part of the regular bar numbers, even before vendors. I understood paying for guests over 21 no matter their drinking status, but I again asked about vendors, two of which were the bartenders that would be working the event. The response I received from the owner was, “In my experience, often vendors partake in the alcoholic beverages also.” I have not personally been to a wedding where vendors such as photographer, videographers, etc. drink while under contract and working. I did have six vendors total in my catering numbers. Four were charged in the bar final numbers to pay the same pricing as underage guests, leaving two vendor numbers as part of those we paid for the regular pricing as though they were guests drinking at the event. This was sent to me 3 days before the wedding, and at this point did not seem worth further argument.
I can only assume that the two vendors included in the final total for the bar were the bartenders working our wedding, as one was drinking throughout the night. On top of the charge for alcohol per guest, we paid a $600 fee for the two bartenders working the event. I do not feel that it is appropriate for those working at an event to be drinking alcohol during that time.
A few of my guests (bridesmaids, parents, family) shared complaints after the wedding was over as well, but as I did not witness their specific complaints, I will not list them here. I did witness the frustration of these guests, however.
We paid for the full bar option that included liquor. Some guests were not given shots when requested, while others were. The female bartender was taking shots with a guest throughout the night while certain guests were told they could not be served shots from the beginning of the reception, which was observed by the groom.
The fee of $600 that was additional to the bar package was for two bartenders to work the event. For most of the night, one bartender was serving at a time. They both were present, for the most part, but service was slow on occasions where only one bartender was serving guests.
Overall, mine and my husband’s experience with this vendor leaves us unable to recommend them to others. Unfortunately, in the case of our venue, they are the only allowable bartending vendor. I recommend asking venues before signing contracts if they have specific vendors that they only allow one business to service.
Best of luck to those moving forward in the wedding planning process!
