We could not recommend Brian more highly! Not only did his photographs turn out phenomenally, but he really captured the essence of our day -- a lot of laughter, a lot of dancing, a lot of love. My husband and I are not the most comfortable in front of a camera, but his direction made us feel at ease and I'm so grateful for the beautiful memories he captured for us!
At this point, Brian is an institution with our family and friends. He was the wedding photographer at my sister’s wedding in 2016 and at my wedding at the Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa in September 2023. We’ve recommended him to countless friends and family because he does such an incredible job.
On the day, he is very professional. He has a great handle on the details, is very efficient, and coached us through our awkwardness to get some incredible photos. Outside of the standard first look and family photos, he did a great job at capturing special moments throughout the day and night. We couldn't be happier with how our photos turned out and will continue to recommend Brian to everyone we know!
Brian is a fantastic photographer and was the perfect choice for our day. We found him as he had photographed a wedding a close friend was in and she only had great things to say.
We aren't a couple with a ton of pictures so we were concerned that we wouldn't look "natural" on our big day as we weren't used to be in front of the camera. We met him during our engagement session (which I highly recommend), those photos came out so nicely and it was great to get to know each other before the wedding day.
We got rain on our NYC wedding day but Brian had a perfect rain plan in Grand Central and the photos turned out stunning. We even got a few photos outside post ceremony that had the best light. All our guests loved him and commented how beautiful the photos came out. He was a fantastic add to our wedding vendor list, highly recommend!!
I jump to recommend Brian to anyone looking for a wedding photographer *any chance* I can get. Photography was the vendor choice we cared most about, and the first hire we made for our wedding team. I wanted an artistic, candid style and found Brian through his photography - his images capture the emotions of each moment and also maintain an elevated, artistic approach to framing and lighting. I picked Brian not only because of his stellar photography, but because he was simply such a pro to work with. I interviewed three photographers and Brian immediately jumped out as level headed, organized, and extremely professional. Relative to other photographer's his pricing structure also provides a lot of flexibility (a la carte add-ons to the base packages), which allowed us to optimize for what we wanted rather than pay for one big package. As we got closer to the wedding day, this also allowed us to add on additional hours of coverage once we finalized our schedule and we even added a second shooter, which Brian coordinated seamlessly. Brian was so helpful at many junctures in wedding planning: he provided great guidance on day-of timing, sequencing portraits, locations and more. Leading up to the wedding, he was always prompt to answer an email and more than willing to meet to walk through our plans and discuss specific considerations.
On the day-of, he handled all of our plans and treated our family with great care and respect. Brian's work is a treasure - the images are beautiful, and truly allow us to remember the feelings of the day we got married.
Brian is the BEST decision we made; he’s simply amazing. He brought such a warm personality and this subtle sense of humor that matched our energy perfectly and made us feel so comfortable taking photos. What immediately struck us about Brian during our initial engagement shoot and then on our wedding day was his ability to make us feel completely at ease in front of the camera. He directed us during the more formal shots, providing just the right amount of guidance to make sure we looked our best (we needed it) - while still allowing our personalities to come through. The day of the wedding, he and his partner Fady were the vendors we interacted with the most and the people we were with when all the pre-wedding jitters were first starting to hit. He was so incredibly calm and normal while still maintaining the utmost professionalism…I can’t emphasize how important it is to have that energy on your wedding day.
If all that wasn’t already enough, the final results were nothing short of breathtaking. Brian captured the wedding day so beautifully and took all of our requests seriously. We wanted candid shots of our wedding guests throughout the day, and a “fly on the wall” presence during the ceremony - and he absolutely got that for us. NOBODY likes an intrusive lens in your face, especially on your wedding day. Brian managed to become invisible once the wedding started; nobody recalls seeing him at the ceremony, on the dance floor, or during the speeches…and yet, all the pictures prove he was right there capturing everything, from the most tender of moments to the wildest dance moves.
In short, we could not recommend Brian Hatton enough. He is talented, funny, personable, and professional, and he captured our special day with stunning photos that we will treasure for years to come.
We love Brian's style and are thrilled with our photos! Our wedding day brought some pretty disappointing weather - clouds, wind and finally, rain. Brian used the weather to our advantage! The lighting was beautiful, composition well done and we really love that he captured the mood of the day - which was joy, smiles, fun, happiness and love.
He was very flexible as we had to move all of our ceremony and family photos inside at the last minute. He didn't stress, just rolled with it. We would 100% hire Brian and recommend him.
It took my fiancé (now-husband!) and I a long time to find the right photographer, and we are so glad that we met Brian. Brian has an easygoing, yet very professional demeanor, and we felt right away that we could trust him with taking the photos that would commemorate this very special day in our lives. His timeless, natural aesthetic suit exactly what we were looking for, and both he and his assistant were wonderful to work with on the big day: they kept us on point, but were also flexible when things had to change. He delivered the full suite of photos within 6-7 weeks, which we felt was a totally reasonable turnaround time, especially during the busy summer season. Thank you so much for your amazing work Brian! We treasure it.
Brian was simply amazing. Not only did he take awesome candid photos (which was our #1 ask), he took unique, non-cliché staged shots as well (which we didn't even think was possible). To top it all off, he was an absolute pleasure to work with both before and during our wedding. Throughout the latter, he was unbelievably calm and friendly, but also kept things moving to ensure every photo we wanted was taken. My grandma said it best after we showed her the pictures last weekend, "I felt like I just got to relive the entire wedding again." If it wasn't obvious so far in this review, my wife and I could not be happier with all the shots Brian took. Speaking for myself, after checking out the photos for the first time, I favorited (a process that should have had me select only a few) over a third of the hundreds he sent us. Thank you, Brian, for capturing our best night ever!
Booking Brian Hatton was far and away the best choice I could have ever made for a wedding photographer. Brian far exceeded all of my expectations and I could not have ever imagined our photos coming out as beautifully as they did. Brian proved to be a calm in the wedding storm, innately professional, and courteous. He was consistently communicative prior to the wedding and has been a pleasure to work with following it, as we've worked to build an album/order prints. On the day of the wedding, Brian was so laid back and flexible, that I genuinely believe it took much of the stress and chaos out of the necessary but extensive posed family photos. Unsurprisingly, Brian also worked seamlessly with all of our other vendors. All in all, if you're looking for an incredibly kind and immeasurably talented photographer, I cannot recommend Brian Hatton highly enough.
Brian’s pictures of our wedding turned out amazing!! He took so many different variations of photos, not just your typical stand and pose for a picture. Brian was the photographer for both my sister and I- he was very personable and always made us feel comfortable. He was very prompt in setting up meetings and always available for any questions we had. I highly reccommend Brian Hatton- he’s the best !!!
Just got our photos back from Brian and could not be more thrilled!!! Brian's photos are true pieces of art-- quote from a friend "Your photographer is a genius!" He somehow was able to capture every meaningful, emotional moment, and also encapsulate the joy and spirit as well. Each angle he chose was just so beautiful. I have not been able to stop looking at the photos. Choosing Brian as our photographer was the best decision we made. He was also such a pleasure to work with, so quick to reply, and easy to talk to.. also he returned our photos so quickly!! He is the nicest guy, and so much fun-- our bridal party had a blast shooting with him and he took such natural photos of us! I would recommend Brian to everyone and anyone. I never could have imagined our photos would turn out so beautiful. I want to keep every single one of them forever and show our grandchildren!! My parents are already asking if they can get a second photo album because they love the photos so much.
Brian Hatton was one of the best decisions we made in our May 2017 wedding! We have waited to write this review until finally seeing the finished album and prints (we stalled a long time… not Brian’s fault!) and here it is:
We are amazed by two things about Brian. First, he listened so well to what we wanted and delivered exactly that. We told him from the outset that we cared most about capturing the people at our wedding. While we liked New York and it’s part of our life, we didn’t want it to be the main focus of our wedding photographs. Brian suggested doing portraits at Gramercy Park, which was the perfect way to show a quiet, daily experience of New York instead of a big touristy one. We also expressed that we wanted to highlight photos of the groom’s sister delivering the homily in our beautiful Catholic church. He gave us a gorgeous set of photos of this touching event, and even managed to do so without capturing a random little girl who was running around the altar (hey, not everything at your wedding will go perfectly, and that’s OK!). When we look at the photos of our wedding alongside the other weddings Brian has shot, they look totally different and unique to us. This tells me that Brian does a great job of listening to couples and delivering photographs that reflect their special ceremonies.
Second, we were really amazed by how well Brian captured the personalities of the various people at our wedding. He had never met them before! And still he managed to create images that 100% embodied the beautiful things we love about each of those people who joined us. We can’t even believe how much their personalitities shone through in print.
Brian was an utter pleasure to work with. He was super responsive to e-mails and a very calm personality. He did a terrific job efficiently staging group photos and communicated clearly with our guests. He was prompt on the day of, quickly scouted a place in the hotel to do a first look, and he blended into the background the rest of the day.
We loved the final products. We received a link to view and download about 1000 photos about a month after the wedding. We took forever to figure out which of these amazing photos we wanted prints of and wanted to include in our album, but once we got in touch with Brian to order these, they took just a little over a month. Both the print and the album are stunning. The quality of the paper and printing is top quality, one of the many reasons we selected Brian to begin with.
Brian is top of our list of recommendations to New York brides and grooms.
I waited until we got our pictures to write this review, and all I can say is that if you're considering Brian for your wedding, HIRE HIM. Not only is he so nice, so relaxed, so easy to work with, but he has the most incredible eye and an astonishing ability to capture the best moments from your wedding - those intimate moments between you and your husband, the time you were crying laughing at something the rabbi said, that photo of your dad belting out the lyrics to a song as if his life depended on it. His photos are magical. You might be nervous about hiring someone who has more of a documentary-style of photographing than a traditional wedding photographer, but don't be. Brian still takes every traditional photo you want as a memory - the dress hanging, the invitations, the family portraits - and they are also amazing. I was married at a country club in December, and we took photos in the freezing cold, but from the pictures it looks like we are in a mild-weathered pinterest paradise and not a golf course in the off season. To top it off, I was so comfortable with Brian and his team during the wedding. It was very important to me to surround myself with people who would be a calming influence but I could still trust to get things done, and Brian was a consummate professional who checked all those boxes - even when they had to raise my chuppah at the last moment and we needed to switch locations for the family portraits, but most of my guests were already arriving. He helped me to navigate a potentially stressful situation with ease. Thank you, Brian, for the incredible memories and the beautiful photos! To any other bride and groom - you will not be disappointed.
If you're the average New York bride, your wedding will likely be the most expensive event of your year and hiring the right person to capture all that you spent so much time and energy planning is so important. It's the first piece of advice I give my newly engaged friends - do not make a hasty decision on your photographer. The second piece of advice? Hire Brian Hatton. His work is absolutely beautiful. I literally took an entire day and looked through one of those lists of 160+ wedding photographers in New York and found myself coming back to Brians' website as a point of comparison. His style and composition is beautiful, he captured the most amazing moments during our engagement shoot and our wedding and overall he was so sweet to work with. Brian is super down to earth, listened to exactly what I wanted, and delivered. Not pretentious or pushy at all, just a great experience. We also received images very quickly which is always a very big plus! Give Brian a call, you wont be disappointed :)
Brian is so professional and made booking with him so easy. His work is amazing. After meeting with him I am so confident that he will make out wedding photos so spectacular that we will truly cherish them forever. His photography style really captures the special moments and the beauty of the day. I can’t imaging going with any other photographer!
Finding a photographer was easily the thing my husband and I spent the most time trying to find, in addition to a cinematographer. Many out there look unprofessional or ameteur. But Brian has the expertise of a world-class photographer. Each photo’s color and focus is beyond crisp and artfully done. He’s also an absolute sweetheart to work with and is extremely flexible with your preferences, hopes and needs.
My favorite thing about him, though, is his ability to capture the most beautiful and heartwarming photographs. You don’t even know they’re being taken but he will capture the most tender moments that really represent what your special day was about, beautiful moments that maybe you yourself missed in the whirlwind that is your wedding day.
He is far and away the best in the business and believe me, I looked at HUNDREDS of tri-state area photographers trying to find someone that would perfectly capture the day.
We didn't get to meet Brian until our wedding day but he has been so easy to work with throughout the entire process (most of which was handled via email). We found Brian after spotting his photos of a wedding in NYC and loved his style and use of light. He's an amazing photographer with a fantastic knack of capturing the perfect moments as they happen - without intruding or directing. We never had to worry about asking Brian to capture a moment - he or his second photographer were always right there. He took so much of the stress out of the day and made the entire experience seem effortless. Highly recommended - no matter where you're getting married.
I simply don't know where to start. I have nothing but good things to say about Brian as a photographer, as a person, as one of the closest people you will have to you on your wedding day. He made my entire family feel at ease- he has that way about him- and really captured our wedding day as it was. I felt like I was in such good hands and my pictures are evidence. My husband and I could not be happier with the quality of the photography or our album; most of all, we remember how lovely Brian was to work with and recommend him without hesitation.
Brian did both our engagement photos and our wedding photos. I have to admit that I knew Brian from before he became a photographer so I'm a little biased about him as a person, but no matter how much I like him as person, I would never have used him as a photographer if I didn't think he was absolutely our best choice.
Brian has a way of capturing details and viewpoints that other people don't even notice. When you are the subject of his camera lens, you just follow his directions and sometimes can't imagine what he's seeing when he's setting up a shot. Then you get the pictures and are blown away by the perspective. My favorite thing about his photography style is that he can capture both your emotion and the atmosphere around you. To me, his photos from our wedding are the perfect way to relive both how we felt throughout the day and to experience what our guests experienced as we were getting married!
During our wedding ceremony and reception, Brian and his assistant were invisible, in a good way. I never even saw them during the ceremony but in our sneak-peek photo of me walking down the aisle, it was clear that they truly captured the moment. During the reception, they would be nowhere in sight and then people would line up to pose for a guest's camera and Brian would suddenly pop up out of nowhere and take the photo for us. It was awesome. Both Brian and his assistant were warm, funny, and friendly. They kept us relaxed and we liked seeing them help each other set up the perfect shot. We cannot wait to see the rest of our photos!
Words cannot begin to express how happy my partner and I are to have had Brian Hatton as our wedding photographer! He is absolutely amazing in every aspect of wedding photography: professionalism, care, artistry, album design, communication, and making the two of us somehow look amazing while we were enjoying every part of our wedding!
Let me start by saying that in planning our wedding, one of the most important choices for us was who our photographer would be. My wife and I are a gay couple, and we hoped that we could get great wedding photos from a photographer who we felt comfortable around. We met with several photographers, but instantly booked Brian the day that we met him.
Brian is a great person, wonderful to be around, and made us feel completely at ease even though we'd never been professionally photographed before! He is always on time and prepared, brilliant at catching the little moments that go by when no one is looking, and incredibly creative in the way he captures light and frames the setting and people in shots. It goes without saying that our photos from both our engagement session and our wedding are BEAUTIFUL. And that means a lot coming from TWO women who can be very particular about how they each look in a picture! What surprised me most when looking over our pictures was how they really showed the emotion in everyone and retold the story of our wedding. Our parents and the two of us also love the wedding album that Brian designed- thoughtful and perfect.
All in all, if you want AMAZING photos of your wedding by an artist who is a pleasure to work with and who treats you wonderfully, Brian Hatton is your photographer. He worked with our budget to give us what we wanted and even climbed uphill into bushes in the heat of summer to get a shot that is now framed on our wall. We can't thank him and recommend him enough!
Brian Hatton was great. He and his second photographer did an excellent job with our wedding photos. I would highly recommend him. He made us feel comfortable and as a result got wonderful photos. I was really happy with the pictures he took. Our formal pictures are great and he also captured some wonderful "in action" moments from our wedding. It was great to see our friends and family having fun and enjoying themselves.
Brian and his assistant did an amazing job at our wedding. They were both so professional and unobtrusive. The photos came out so beautifully that is was really difficult to narrow them down to just 90 for the album. I wish I had another event coming up, just to use Brian again.
We were so happy that we selected Brian Hatton Photography! Brian and his assistant were engaging but unobtrusive. They really captured the beauty of the venue and the people. They were low-key and stress-free, but managed to capture everything that we loved about the wedding. The follow-up was always prompt, and we really appreciated the format of the photos – they were available on CD as well as a website, so we had full rights to everything for our own use (as well as the album that we pre-ordered). Most important was Brian’s commitment to our satisfaction. He was so flexible on the engagement photos, and even on the wedding date – we had to push it off by a day at the last minute due to Hurricane Irene. I highly recommend Brian Hatton.
Brian Hatton was a great photographer at my daughter's wedding. A second photographer was also helpful to obtain some wonderful pictures. Brian is able to capture the feel of the of the guests and the fun we all had-a happy to be alive feeling. There were so many innovative and special pictures we have a hard time picking the picture for framing. Brian is also good about showing some previews of the pictures on his web site. We are now hooked on seeing new weddings each week. A very positive experience
Brian did such an amazing job. He was super quiet and we hardly knew he was there but then he presented us these amazing photos that captured every single moment of our day. He takes really great, unique shots. He did an awesome job. I highly recommend him.
We selected Brian Hatton Photography on the recommendation of a co-worker and we could not have asked for better service, quality or professionalism. We have only seen about 30 of our wedding photos so far (we have been married less than a month) and they are PHENOMENAL. Brian captured the spirit of our wedding in a brilliant photojournalistic style with some amazing posed shots throughout.
We stretched out budget to accommodate hiring Brian and his second photographer (who was also great) but they were worth every penny.
