After a not great experience at another dress shop (they had no one to help me although I made an appointment, and they were mostly prom dresses, and the dress I was looking for was not in stock to try on, although they told me it was), I calle...d Bridal and Veil b/c they are in the same general area. They fit me in the same day, were very genial, and very attentive. They brought me loads of dresses to try on and spent all afternoon with me. The dress I really was looking for was not in stock, so they ordered me that sample, as well as other sample dresses I like, to come back and try on. My second experience was also great, and I did purchase the original dress I liked.
After that though, it got a bit shaky. My dress did not arrive until almost 3 weeks past its due date (and I ordered it 6 months in advance), and each time I called I got a different answer about its arrival. When it finally did come in, I made an appointment for a fitting. When I showed up for my fitting, the staff did not have any record of my appointment and seemed flustered that I was there. When someone was ready for me, they took me in the back and then left, with no one to dress me... I had to ask for help and then wait about 10 minutes. Then, after I was dressed, the employee helping me walked away, and after showing my mom, I had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to get the dress off... I eventually had to wander through the store and find my person myself. In their defense, it looked busy in the store; I just expect that when I make an appointment, I actually have that appointment.
Also, the cost of the alterations was, in my mind, unreasonable. We only had to make one small adjustment to the lining of the dress (the lining was puffing up outside the top of my dress; it was a bit too long) - no fit changes, no undoing any stitching or seams, just one 3 inch cut and closing a single layer of fabric inside the dress - and it cost well over $100. She did do an excellent job (you could barely tell where she worked, and If you didn't know it was there, you'd never have found it), but I could have done that myself in 10 minutes at home, and would have except it's my wedding dress and I didnt want to risk making a single mistake... I could just see myself tearing it against my desk corner or spilling on it or something.
SO, long story short - the staff is very nice, my dress was perfect, and everyone is very friendly. Unfortunately, their admin seems a bit scattered and that translated into a noticeable lack of service, and alterations are overpriced in my opinion. I think it's still a nice place, and I'd probably go back or refer a friend.
