I ultimately purchased my gown from them and would do so again because my gown & was carried by so few shops in the US, but I would dread the experience.
-the alterations were a bit of a disaster. I weigh 105lbs and my weight does not fluctuate more than 2 lbs throughout the year. When my dress first came in it was quite large at the waist. I returned only a couple weeks later (my size had not changed at all) for my 2nd fitting and the dress COULD NOT CLOSE around my waist. It was taken in many inches. I have no idea what possessed the seamstress to make such drastic alterations. She did fix this, and at my next fitting it fit appropriately, but of course I was charged for the extra time the seamstress took to fix this, and probably paid for 3 alterations when I should’ve paid for 2. -I was told that the dress came with one more layer in the skirt than it was supposed to have, and that it would look better if it were removed. I tentatively agreed. They removed the layer, it looked much, much flatter and lost much of its shape. The infuriating thing? Casually, they later mentioned to me that it shouldn’t come with 3 layers at all because it looked better this way- suggesting that it actually was supposed to have 3 layers. -the worst experience came when payment was due for alterations. I had already paid for my dress in full (it was one of their more expensive offerings in stock). My alterations were $600. At my second fitting, when the alterations were not yet done, I asked if I could wait to pay for them, to which they agreed. At my third fitting, they demanded payment for alterations in a very shaming, very aggressive way. I was not picking up the dress yet and they were to hold it for me for several more weeks, so it’s not as if I was attempting to walk away with it. When I asked if I could pay in two more weeks when I actually picked up the dress, they went into a back room, whispered, and a new staff person came out who stood in front of me and demanded payment. It was offensive and odd, but more importantly, I was NEVER informed that this would be the day the fee alterations were due. I felt caught off guard and shamed. Needless to say I paid them and after picking up my gown, never revisited the salon. My recommendation: if you have a gown that is only carried by Natalie, such as mine was (Fascinatia by Ida Torez), buy it there and find a way to avoid having your alterations done there. Take it to Tang’s in McClean for alterations. You will save yourself a headache.
I'm so surprised to read the negative reviews (and I suspect that those reviews may not represent the current team working at this salon now), so anyone on the fence, please keep reading! This was the first salon I visited and they were wonderful: very gracious and polite when my friend and I arrived, they listened to what I was looking for, and pulled several different options that were all within my budget. (Other salons , by contrast, turned their noses up when I said I was trying to stick to a reasonable budget and made me feel terrible about this!)
The bridal consultants I was working here with pulled a variety of options (since at the time I didn't quite know what I was looking for), but ultimately the very first one they picked out for me is the one I ended up buying (after going to a couple of other salons and not feeling the same spark). They explained the timeline for ordering and alternations, made some suggestions for minor alternations to the gown that would improve the fit and make it just slightly more modest (taking into consideration feedback from my mom who joined us via FaceTime), and they were generally just wonderful and easy to work with.
The only (very tiny) drawback of this salon is that they have a slightly more limited selection of gowns compared to some much bigger salons. However, they had a bunch of different options that were all in my price range, so I didn't feel limited in my selection at all.
This was my first time trying on wedding dresses, and I couldn't have been more disappointed.
Things started out OK-- the shop had pulled the two dresses I was interested in trying on-- but then it went downhill quickly. Nobody asked me when I was getting married or what I was looking for, and I was left alone in the tiny room to get myself into the dresses and clip them as-needed.
My assistant put in the bare minimum effort. She couldn't answer the most basic questions on fabric and fit, and she didn't pull anything, relying instead on my mom and sister to find dresses (which, by the way, are organized by size and not style... so if you don't work there it's hard to suss out what's what!)
The final nail in the coffin came when my stylist made a comment about my size. I'm 5'5" and about 135 pounds, so a fairly average-sized woman, and the woman had the audacity to say there wouldn't be much that would fit me. This was so hurtful, and was made even worse when she commented that one of the dresses I was trying wouldn't zip. Bridal gowns are carried in sample sizes, so it's expected that the ones you try won't fit perfectly, but this was so embarrassing and cast such a dark cloud over what was supposed to be a special day.
Overall, I would advise going elsewhere. This place has a poor selection, horrible service, and a lackluster vibe that's the antithesis of the special experience bridal gown shopping should be.
I bought the Millanova dress of my dreams at Bridals by Natalie in Alexandria, VA. I found it online and they had it! I was absolutely beyond in love with my dress. I found the prices they charged for alterations to be incredibly expensive, but otherwise highly recommend, especially for this hard to find in the US designer!
I waited until Bridals by Natalie was hosting a Kitty Chen trunk-show to do my dress fitting. I'd tried two other shops previous to this appointment but did not have the best experiences. Bridals by Natalie only had one of the dresses I was hoping to try on, however, the stylist Crystal pulled multiple other dresses that she thought would fit my vision and my taste. All of the dresses were gorgeous! Crystal was so helpful and attentive. I did not go with the Kitty Chen dress because it was too massive and heavy... Instead, I fell immediately in love with one of the dresses Crystal pulled by VanillaSposa. I knew it was the one the moment I put it on. The entire staff made me feel welcomed and all of my interactions thereafter were so positive. I ordered my dress at the end of May 2018 during my visit and it arrive in November. I also ordered my veil from there -- and although I felt it was totally overpriced, it was beautiful and I couldn't imagine not having it. My experience with this salon was even better than I'd hoped for. They had a large selection of dresses (and they weren't all size 2s). Awesome bridal salon!
AVOID! I do not recommend this shop to any future brides. After two attempts, I can seriously say their lack of care and customer service is not appropriate for this industry. The first time I went with my family the consultant and I picked out some dresses and there were two that I was particularly drawn to. She saved them for last. Before we got the chance to try them on the manager came over and kicked us out saying our appointment time was up. There was no one else in the salon and the consultant pleaded with her but she did not care, so ultimately I didn't even get to try on what I came to try on. They carried one of the designers I was really interested in and the next closest shop was New Jersey, so even after a terrible first experience we went back. This time the same manager was so rude when we showed up 5 minutes early, saying that we needed to leave and come back because our schedule was wrong, that we didn't even try on anything. I was sad because I really loved this designer but she had made the experience so negative it just wasn't worth it. I don't think any bride should waste their time here, with their behavior they do not deserve a several thousand dollar investment.
I recently visited Bridals by Natalie to search for my wedding dress with my mother. My appointment was on a Thursday mid day. When we arrived we were politely greeted and welcomed to the quaint shop. We explained what we were looking for in a dress as I had already been to some other boutiques. They immediately told me that I could pull dresses I liked and they assisted with pulling additional dresses for my shape and style I was looking for. They kindly asked if I wanted help getting in and out of dresses and I did. I was given assistance by Gladys and Lourdes continued to pull dresses similar to my style. This bridal studio efficiently got me in and out of dresses and they assisted in all ways possible. They were not pushy or salesy and they let me and my mom comment on dresses. When I was ready to move on they assisted me in doing so. I found my dress at this boutique but didnt make my decision until a couple days later. After visiting other studios the remainder of the day and all day Friday I decided I wanted to try on my favorite dress from Natalies. I called and they opened the store early on a Saturday so my mother and I could come in and make my final decision. My dress is ordered and I was provided with tracking information. Expected arrival is in March! I cannot say enough about how great my shopping experience has been thus far with this bridal boutique. Service was impecable, studio was small and intimate, and Prices and alteration costs were reasonable. I look forward to getting my dress and alterations done here!
I had a wonderful experience at Bridals by Natalie! I had an appointment on a Friday evening. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding a dress the previous weekend, I was not looking forward to the appointment. However, the associates at Bridals by Natalie were wonderful! They listened to what I wanted and found several beautiful dresses that I liked! When selecting my dress, I wanted to send pictures of the top two contenders to my mother (I was by myself at the appointment) and they were very helpful in taking photos and did not rush me. They also generally made me feel comfortable, even though I was alone at the appointment. After I purchased the dress, the in-house seamstress did a great job with the alterations. I highly recommend this dress shop to brides-to-be!
I had a wonderful experience with Bridals by Natalie. They did a good job of listening, helping me find dresses in line with my inspiration, and were very attentive without being pushy. When it came time for my alterations, they did a fantastic job and I couldn't have felt more amazing on my big day! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a wedding gown!
I’ve just started my dress shopping but I was very underwhelmed by my experience. I booked a last minute appointment with the owner on a rainy, non-busy Tuesday and felt like she rushed through my appointment. She didn’t ask me what I was looking for and didn’t recommend any dresses. It’s a small store with few options. Definitely not worth your time.
We had an absolutely WONDERFUL experience at Bridals by Natalie. They had just moved locations so there were a few snafus but my stylist, Crystal, was so kind and really made the whole experience what it was. She let us look through the racks as another appointment was wrapping up and never balked at how many dresses we grabbed! She was knowledgeable of the dresses and stepped in when needed but other than that just let me interact with my crew when I had the dresses on. After seeing what I liked and didn't like, she even offered to do one more sweep of the store to make sure we hit everything. In the end, there was a clear favorite for me and the group. She let me put it back on in the end with a belt and a veil--which allowed me to have the "this is the one" moment.
I would recommend Bridals by Natalie to any bride in the area! Their store is small but it's lovely and they have amazing dresses. Plus their customer service is top notch.
I have been to well over 30 bridal shops - This experience was atrocious.
Arriving at opening (10am) with an appt that was booked a month in advance, we're a party of 5 & there's a party of 2 also in the shop. We're all just standing around, Lady 1 asks us 3x if we were/who was together, and "who had gotten there first". The boutique is by appt only, so I thought this question was off-putting, but we continued into a TINY changing area with Lady 1. The # of guests were provided in advance, yet the small space only had 2 chairs for us & was split in half to accommodate two parties. Ok minor detail, two more chairs squished everyone on top of each other, leaving very little walking room! The other bridal party (of 2) was put in the same room but their area was about twice as big. This showed me was that no planning/thought was put into the appts. The smaller side should not exist at all: there's no podium/space & exposed pipes and wiring that's visible in every photo ew.
Moving on... the bride had prepared - her date, budget, designers, style #s and printed photos of dress she was interested in. She handed the photos to Lady 1 who glanced at it for 30 secs. In response, Lady 1 asked our party:
"Aren't you going to help pull dresses?"
First of all, no. It is not our responsibility to go searching in the most disorganized bridal shop I have ever seen. When asked how the dresses were organized, Lady 1 said that they were organized by SIZE. Not style, not price, not designer. The most irrelevant part of the wedding dress shopping experience is the way this shop uses to organize their offerings. So here we were, 5 gals searching the entire place, checking prices/necklines/beading/asking bride. How absolutely awful. Lady 1 had the audacity to ask MOB if she needed help finding something. Lady 1 didn't know names of veils (chapel, floor) it was very odd.
Skipping forward the bride finds her dress. Cries and falls in love. I ask about a timeline, cause ours is tougher than most. This is something the shop should've considered, since they've have the details for over a month.
Asking about timeline, Lady 1 announces that it will take 4-5months to receive the dress.
The wedding is 4 months & 5 days away from the date of the appt.
I have in front of me a bride who is panicking, standing in her dream dress & a veil, getting flustered and obviously on verge of tears. Lady 1 keeps repeating the 4 month window, then using the excuse that she thought it was at the end of the month in 4 months (which is absurd because the date was provided multiple times, but also irrelevant because it would have put any bride outside the window). Here I am at the ready to get the style number and hunt this dress out anywhere I can even think of while Lady 1 is scurrying around talking to Lady 2. They come back in and say they they could get it here in 3 months. I was appalled. How unprofessional was it to make a bride struggle like this? Nothing was prepared, nothing was organized, no help was provided, everything that could have gone wrong - did.
I was not the bride but I feel awful that this place and their people stole such an important experience from her and tarnished the memory of finding her perfect dress.
I would not recommend this bridal salon to my enemies because even they deserve a respectful bridal appointment which they can cherish forever. I intend to post this review everywhere I can to save another bride the disappointment of working with this shop.
I visited 2 other bridal shops before finding my wedding dress at Bridals by Natalie. My experience was nothing but excellent. First, they let me know that my dress would be 10% off the next weekend. They took my order and held it until that weekend so we could get the discount. I worked with Gladys for most of my fittings but everyone who works there is great! Even throughout the year, Gladys remembered all of my little concerns and made me feel very special. I had a freak out about a week before the wedding and she worked with me and made sure that I was 100% happy. The end result was my dream dress that fit me perfectly!
Horrible service!!!!!! I came for my appointment after traveling for 45mins. The lady without much acknowledgement told us to wait 5 mins (we came early). No hello, how are you etc. that's fine. She asked what type of dresses I was looking for I mentioned to her and he went around picking some stuff out but i picked out 4/5 dresses she really didn't take me around the store or interact much with me. Anyways that's fine too. I have been to six other boutiques by this point...moving on.
I went into the fitting room (all other boutiques I went to were kind and polite enough to ask if I was comfortable with them being in the room) this lady stood there. I told her im sorry I'm not comfortable with someone being in my fitting room while I get naked. She said sorry I have to...I said oh alright well other places weren't like this but okay it's fine (I understand they don't want others to deal with their sample dresses..whatever)
I dressed down (mind you she saw what I was wearing as my undergarments) and she put on my dress (I was so uncomfortable) - the back was tight and wouldn't close so I asked if she could close with a clip or somehow do something so I could better view the dress she said "how it's tight on you..." --- yes I know but really lady? To answer back like this? moving on.
I told her I don't like it she proceeded to take my dress off and I told her can I do it myself I'm not comfortable with you touching me and asked her to turn around (I'm sorry I am just no comfortable) then she said very rudely that I wasn't wearing appropriate undergarments anyway...!!!
I told her excuse me? It's my choice what I wear (a this point her back was to me getting my second dress) she said they don't let their customers try on dresses if they don't wear appropriate undergarments...as she was getting my second dress and I should come another date...I told her okay well there was nothing listed that said what type of undergarment to wear (panties wise) and that I had been to other places and this wasn't an issue - she immediately put my dress that she was getting BACK , while I was NAKED opened the fitting room curtain and said sorry get out!! I said excuse me why? I wanna try on my dress she said no sorry leave!! Anyways then she threatened to call the cops and her manager came out and when I explained she said we don't allow our customers to wear inappropriate undergarments - when I started yelling bc I was furious she said "omg you have problems" yeah my problem was YOU!!!
I understand some wedding boutiques have requirements to wear appropriate panties but this lady SAW me naked the first dress she put on didn't say anything by the second dress argued and was rude then kicked me out! If she had told me during the first dress when she first saw me nicely that they have specific requirements I would kindly leave and understand! But to one, open the fitting room door while I'm naked, tell me to leave and threaten me with cops?! And be so rude!!
Never been treated so badly in my life for wearing "inappropriate" undergarments.
Please do urself a favor and visit somewhere else. they treat you like shit.
This was a terrible experience. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment and no one asked me what I needed for about 5 minutes, when I was finally asked if I could be helped I was told they needed 15 more minutes. At the time of my appointment I went back to the salesladies and was told I could pull dresses I wanted to try on. Neither woman introduced themselves, they didn't ask me for what I was looking for, they helped me into the dresses but then didn't speak to me, didn't try to offer help or advice. We left after 35 minutes after we couldn't take it anymore. I felt like a nuisance and that I was in the way. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Such an amazing bridal experience! Where do I begin?! 1. She opened her store to accommodate my schedule. 2. The space is absolutely stunning. It is the perfect setting with large glamorous mirrors and sparkling chandeliers. It honestly felt like I was in a movie. 3. She had endless patience with my flower girl who would not sit still or stay quiet. Her patience put me at peace and allowed me to still enjoy the experience 4. She picked out The Dress even when I originally said no at first glance. 5. She knew my style and understood my personality... probably more than I know myself 6. She respected my budget, gave me a great deal AND didn't make me feel inferior due to my small budget. 7. She was extremely professional. I didn't feel pressured or rushed. She does her job so well that I was able to relax and just enjoy the experience. 8. She was so respectful to my family and knew them by name 9. She was sincere and I knew that she genuinely wanted the best for me 10. She made me feel beautiful and special. I couldn't have asked for a better experience - highly recommend!
Price was good overall but I lost too much weight I guess and they did not alter the dress to accommodate that at my final fitting. So I ended up using Doublesided tape to hold my dress up. Perhaps better for simplier alterations than my dress, but overall they did ok. The ladies are very nice there.
I wanted to take a moment to thank the Gladys and Lourdes these beautiful ladies at “Bridals by Natalie” located in Alexandria Virginia for making my daughters bridal dress shopping experience the most incredible time for both of us. These wonderful ladies assisted my daughter graciously and were highly skilled in how they selected the appropriate styles from the St. Patrick’s collection that my daughter had requested. The ladies were patient, professional and made us feel like family at every appointment. The beautiful dress that my daughter selected was fitted to her specifications and was packed and ready for the destination wedding on the date that was promised. The wedding dress was the highlight of the wedding day, with the occasion being on the beach the dress made the walk down the beach absolutely breathtaking.
I would highly recommend “Bridals by Natalie” to any bride to be, the dresses are incredible, Gladys and Lourdes are outstanding and after visiting many salons in the DC, MD, and VA this little gem was a well-kept secret, we definitely saved the best for last!!!
I just got married on May 5th, and bought my dress at Bridals by Natalie. Not only did they have the best prices for dresses, accessories, and alterations that I'd found in the area (I live in Northwest DC), but Gladys was so helpful and accomodating, and made sure I was completely happy with my dress by the time I picked it up. My dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline, and after my first fitting, I was worried it didn't sit right on top. I called back and Gladys scheduled me for another fitting right away (before they started making alterations) so we could make sure it was perfect. I've recommended this store to several friends/brides in the area.
I am a bridesmaid, and was told to come to this boutique to place the order for the dress our Bride had chosen. My sister and I went to the boutique and had to stand waiting for about 10 or 15 minutes while we waited for one of the two consultants to help us out. When they finally addressed us they told us they would be taking our measurements which was nothing out of the ordinary. Then we were placed into their fitting rooms and told to try on dresses that were not the designs out Bride had picked out. They had the style of dress but not the color. My sister was told to order a dress that was a size bigger than she needed, but was reassured that if the dress was to big they could alter it without a problem. I on the other hand was told to order a bigger size as well but choose against it. We were charged 35.00 for a rush shipping due to the wedding date we would need the dress by. Our total cost was $190.00. When the dresses arrived our Bride notified us we went for our fitting when we were available. My sisters dress we too big and she was charged an additional amount for the alterations. My dress was also loose and I was charged also for an additional amount. We were never told that the alterations were more. When we called our Bride she told us that she was told the alterations would be included on the price, and Not additional. When we called to explain to the owner or Manager Lourdes she proceeded to tell me "our bride must be confused" That nobody told her the alterations were included. After back and forth debating with her she proceeded to tell me she didn't have anything to say to me...Our bride choose this boutique because of the somewhat reasonable price and like the other boutiques she went to the alterations were suppose to be included. The associates of this boutique are rude, uncaring or willing to reason with their customers. The dresses are ugly for the 155.00 price tag on them...they BS you into thinking everything is going to be great but fail to tell you about their hidden fees...DO NOT GO TO THIS BOUTIQUE save your time...money and sanity!!!!
This store is fantastic. Their website is beautiful which attracted me to the store. It is was easy to get to and the staff was so friendly. I am so excited to have found this store and cant wait to order my gown! Thanks so much to Bridals By Natalie for a great experience and an awesome day!
My mom and I went to Bridals by Natalie in search of my wedding dress. This was the 3rd boutique we went to. The website was awesome and showed they carried a ton of designers I really liked. The store was NOTHING like I imagined it to be. It was a hole in the wall store in a deserted strip mall. The staff was friendly, but not helpful at all. They had no interest in helping me find the dress of my dreams. Instead, they told me to just pick out some dresses and they'd pull them for me. They didn't help me into them. My mom and I were left to figure out how to put them on. The store was extremely tiny with no space to walk! If you're looking for the dress shopping experience you've always dreamed of, don't go here! Highly disappointed!
The two ladies that run the shop are wonderful. They took good care of me and my bridesmaids. I. Was looking for Mori Lee dresses and they had a great selection. There prices were better than other Mori Lee venders
